From 1 to 7 in 2 weeks, I need a debrief...
First time all the way through, messed with my sleeping pattern, I had a dream the other night where I was slashing walkers with a machete and then went for a beer at a bar with Michonne.
Least fav characters:
1 Lori (although her Carl c-section death was heart wrenching, I had to google if she died soon during Season 1 cos I could not commit to the series if she'd be in it much longer lol)
2 Andrea (Andrea pushing away Dale in season 1, Shane's fuck buddy and best bud, the Governor's fuck buddy and best bud, eugh)
3 Hershel's eldest daughter
4 Sam (Jessie's wet lettuce son)
5 Shane (pls square headed actor man stop fuzzing your shaved head die already gosh)
6 Policewoman boss of the Atlanta hospital
7 Lizzie (I cheered when Carol told her to look at the flowers)
8 Denise (someone on this sub described her as 'tumblr doctor' lmao)
9 Sasha (for being emo for ~3 seasons)
10 Any of the women Carol was friends with in Alexandria pre-the Wolves attack
Nice that they are all no longer with us.
Fav characters:
1 Abraham
2 Enid
3 Dale
4 Hershel
5 Rick
6 Daryl
7 Coral
8 Carol
9 Merle
10 Eugene
Special mentions for favs: Bob, Eastman, Tyreese and Noah. Deanna was refreshing. I like Michonne and like(d) Glen and Maggie too but I found their fawning over each other was a little insipid and got sick of them always embracing after one or the other came back from some basic ass run.
My fav moments:
1 616/701 (I watched without waiting months so no cliffhanger for me) So intense and horrific.
2 Any moments moments of Daryl and Rick being best buds, the country CD in the car intro is a nice moment, Rick calling Daryl his brother etc.
3 Carol fucking up Terminus/Wolves/Saviors Navy Seal style
4 Abraham's poop quips
5 Eugene's autism/aspergers quips
6 Eastman and Morgan episode
7 Ruthless Rick moments (I found myself saying 'kill him Rick!' at the screen a few times)
8 Beth and Daryl story arc
Least fav/annoying moments:
1 Characters constantly saying pseudo profound statements to each other in regular conversation
an example I just pulled out of my ass: 'You are here and you are afraid this is the world as it was and will always be'
2 Mostly bad CGI
3 Hero runs off/captured/trapped, hero's friend/lover back at camp get's worried and runs after them in an emotional stupor/rage, others try to convince them not to go, rinse and repeat
4 Rick: 'Where's Judith?!' 'Where's Carl?!' after a basic ass run and everyone at the camp gates is chill anyway, chill Rick jeez Judith isnt ur kid anyway, Carl is probably more hardcore than u
5 Glen and Maggie's relationship
6 People getting trapped by a walker whilst alone and then getting saved by their concerned friend who walked out into the woods to see they were okay, person trapped is mad, person who saves them get's mad and says something like 'You would have died if I wasnt here, you cant do this alone' etc.
7 Why do the garbage lads talk funny? No.
Thinks I'd love to see going forward, Enid get's a good death pre-time jump and we see a rough breakdown from Carl, set's him up for being free when Lydia and the Whisperer's come along, the licking of the eye socket scene will be pretty nasty tho. Bout time we had another CDC moment and learned a bit more about the wider world/North America, some outsiders from afar could come along.
Sorry, I realise these posts happen multiple times a day but I watched all of this alone and needed to vent...

No priors?
When Jimmy is in court the judge mentions that he has no priors but we know he was arrested in Chicago during his Slippin Jimmy days as we saw in a flashback in s1.
Are arrest priors only by state? Wouldn't they know he's been arrested before?

Am I the only one curious to see the relationship between Saul and Francesca being build up?
I mean, in Breaking Bad, Francesca was pretty "in the game" with Saul, and they were very close.
Recently, in Better Call Saul, we see Francesca for the first time.
Will she get an important role to the plot as Saul Goodman's secretary? Will she be in pair of the events like she was in Breaking Bad?

[EVERYTHING] Series end prediction.
I don't like the idea, however given the basic theme to the show "Valar Mogulis" all men must die, and the shows tendencies to do the unexpected for the shock factor, I think Tyrion Lannister. As much as I would hate this it would be another Ned Stark beheading, or Red Wedding in terms of impact. Tyrion is important enough to matter yet lacking just enough to be killed off and still compete the story. I hope he lives and gets to run his vineyard, The Imp's Delight sounds like a wonderful wine.

What are your predictions about the rest of Season 3, based on episode synopses?
What are peoples' theories/predictions about what will happen in future episodes and where this season is headed?
I found the following episode synopses for the rest of the season and would love to know your thoughts:
S3E4, "Sabrosito"
Jimmy asks a favor of Mike; new complications disrupt Salamancas' business; Chuck and Jimmy struggle with a compromise.
S3E5, "Chicanery"
Kim and Jimmy face off with an adversary; Jimmy looks to Chuck's past to secure his future; Jimmy loses an ally and gains another.
S3E6, "Off Brand"
Jimmy has a new endeavor; Chuck pushes himself to the limit; Nacho finds himself in a power struggle.
S3E7, "Expenses"
Jimmy tries to settle debts; Nacho reunites with an acquaintance; Mike helps Stacey with a project and makes a connection.
S3E8, "Slip"
Jimmy is pushed to desperate measures; Nacho picks up a skill; Mike explores an alliance; Kim stands up to Hamlin.
S3E9, "Fall"
Jimmy visits a friend and takes up an old pastime; Chuck and Hamlin argue over the future of the firm; Kim faces challenges.
S3E10, "Lantern"
Kim takes time off; Jimmy tries to make amends; Nacho gambles with his future; Hamlin pushes Chuck to make a decision.
FYI after episode 7, "Expenses," the show will take a break on May 29th for Memorial Day. But other than that it will air on a regular weekly schedule.

Is Caryl ever going to happen?
This pairing has been a hot topic on the show for 5 seasons. People define them in a variety of ways including best friends, soul mates, siblings, and even mother/son. If there was ever potential for them as couple, I think it ended after season 4. I know the show would use the slow burn excuse but waiting several seasons to put two people together makes it feel awkward and forced to people who aren't invested in the pairing. I've noticed that's a popular reason many people are uncomfortable with Rick and Michonne.
Yet Caryl shippers still represent a good sized portion of the fan base. The show tends to pander to them with out ever really crossing the line. Episode 10 this season is a good example of that. But I noticed that the official Walking Dead twitter account keeps referencing Caryl lately. Do you think this is more pandering or that they might actually cross that line on the show?

The scene is walt walking out the high school. Jesse tries to show him a perfect batch and walter freaks the fuck out at his "pepsi" copy-cat ass.
But where did the methylamine come from? Hell I'm sure there's a few other moments where this could be asked.

What will happen when everything ends?
Ever since I started watching TWD I have had a question in my mind. How will it end? And there are lots of ways of ending the series, but what I'm really concerned about is what would be the 'happy ending'.
I assume the happy ending is to humans, lets say that all the zombies get killed and the virus or whatever makes them live dies, so everything is ''back to normal''.
What do you think would happen? Because there's no longer a country or a government. Also we don't actually now what is going on out of the US. So what do you think will happen? New countries based on the leaders leading the groups? Someone finding atomic bombs and becoming world's king?

Something has been bothering me lately. In book/season 1. Ned brings Ice with him to Kings Landing. We all know Ice was so enormous that Ned didnt fight with it. He just used it for justice. Robert had Illyn payne to do kings justice. So. If the valyrian swords are so important to the families that possess them then why would Ned take Ice out of Winterfell. Shouldnt it stay in the north. So the Stark thats always in winterfell can do justice with it?

[TV] Something I caught in the King in the North Scene Background
Such a subtle thing during Jon Snow's being declared King in the North that many people probably did not pick up on is the reason the creators/directors of this show are just the best. While Lord Glover (forget his first name) is declaring for Jon, kneeling to his left is Wyman Manderly (whose son was "butchered at the Red Wedding"). Lord Manderly subtly looks to the other men at the table nodding to them, and multiple nodded back, and one even raised his chalice to him. I know this is such a minor thing but it really gives the scene more life, as if Manderly is thinking "let's do this".

[EVERYTHING] Most Experienced Characters
This may be entirely irrelevant, but I was thinking about which character has traveled to the most locations / met the most characters. I think it has to be Tyrion. He goes to: - Winterfell - The Wall - The Vale - King's Landing - Volantis by way of Valyria - Meereen
It's hard to think about a main character that he hasn't been in the same room with at one point or another. Aside from Tyrion: - Arya goes from Winterfell to KL to Braavos, but while that is a significant distance, she is only with a few main characters
- Jaime seems to have gone everywhere in Westeros besides the Wall, Storm's End, and the Iron Islands, traveling with a few different characters. - Dany obviously has crossed/will cross quite some distance, and her court has seen a bunch of different characters
Again this post is probably pointless, but I was watching behind the scenes stuff and this all must mean quite the flight schedule for Dinklage every year.
Am I missing somebody who's been around a lot/met the most characters? My mind is rotting from waiting for S7 so this is what I've turned to.

Sorry, I'm not too good with theories, and I don't know whether or not this is a common theory. My question is as follows: Why are no one mentioning Ygrette, Jon Snows girlfriend, in the discussion about who might be this timelines' Nissa Nissa? She could be resurrected for the dead by the White Walkers, and end up being killed by Jon Snow, which fulfills the requirement of killing a loved one. I honestly don't know if that is the prophecy, because I haven't read the books yet. Am I missing something here?

What Does Chuck Want From Jimmy?
What I mean by this question is what does Chuck want Jimmy to do with the deal he is offered? So far, Chuck has executed his plan essentially to perfection. That makes me wonder if he is baiting Jimmy into declining the deal because he thinks he can get him disbarred and put him in jail. On the converse, maybe his plan ends with Jimmy taking the deal and if he declines it Chuck will be forced to reassess his options.
What do you guys think?

One thing I haven't seen discussed here. (303 Spoilers)
When Jimmy is waiting for the cops to arrest him, Chuck comes out without hesitation to gloat showing no signs of his illness whatsoever.
The only other time he did this was when He and Jimmy started working on the sandpiper case and he went to retrieve boxes from the car, but it eventually clicked that he was outside and the signs started to show again.
I think this further enforces the theory that its all in his mind and it is actually Jimmy's success that drives him into this state.

Does anyone else think that AA, Nissa Nissa, and the whole prophecy wouldn't work for the show?
In the books it's mentioned and most book readers seem to be well aware of the prophecy, but the show has only mentioned Azor Ahai a few times.
It doesn't seem like it was brought up enough for general audiences to understand where a flaming sword came from and why Nissa Nissa has to be killed unless they drop a ton of exposition before.

Jimmy still has a long way to go
I've been re-watching BB lately and just got to the 'Better Call Saul' episode in season 2. I'd forgotten a lot about the character; when we first see him in BB he's already completely and unapologetically corrupt, deeply cynical, and only likable because he's funny. It's kind of a surprising reminder that BCS is a tragedy ... the Jimmy we know in BCS is barely recognizable in Saul.

Let's talk about 7x01 and what actually "offended" people enough to cause a 6-million drop in viewership.
So here's the thing, I watched that episode when it aired with my fiancee, my dad, my brother-in-law, and my sister. By the midpoint of the episode my dad had left the room saying the show is trash and my fiancee wasn't looking at the screen during Glenn's murder. My sister and my brother-in-law were wholly unaffected by the episode at all. Me? I thought it was impactful and well-done.
Now, what I think happened here were a few things. This room is representative of many kinds of viewers that made up the 21-million viewership.
Class A) My dad is watching the show just because most people are. He has zero emotional attachment to anything going on and just wants to see what the hype is. Upon seeing Glenn bludgeoned with his eye dangling out, and Negan mocking him, my dad leaves the room because this isn't his idea of entertainment and that's all he's looking for from the show.
Class B) My sister and her husband, they're just watching for this sort of thing. They don't want to think too much about story, they don't care about the introspective stuff with the characters, they just want to see zombies go boom. Their reaction to Glenn's death was, "Dude! Cool! His fuckin' eye came out!" That's all they're looking for and they completely check out during the talky bits.
Class C) My fiancee. The casual viewer that'll skip weeks in a row and tune in just 'cause it's on. She'll ask questions about what's going on, she likes certain characters-- Glenn being one of her favorites-- and when she sees characters she actually cares about being bludgeoned it's upsetting because she's empathizing with the characters and their pain. She looked away not because of the gore, but because of the level human depravity and cruelty on display. She checked out the entire season until the finale because-- as she said herself-- she doesn't want to go to that dark of a place emotionally every week before bed.
Class D) Me. I've been watching since day one. I've read the comics. I collect stuff. I knew this was coming and I was prepared. I found the episode masterful and really, short of something catastrophic like introducing a whacky cartoon animated bunny into the mix as a main character, they can't do much to chase me away.
I think the drop-off was mostly people checking out because of the bleak premiere and those who hung on were either diehards or people looking for zombies going boom. Because a lot of the season was character focused and not action focused, those people looking for all action and no thinking checked out leaving just use diehards for the most-part now.
So that's what I think happened. What do you think it was?

[EVERYTHING] Does the King of the Seven Kingdoms owe money to the Iron Bank?
I think Stannis owed them the money, but it was also the Lannisters. I don't remember how it was resolved on the show. The royal treasury has only been loosing its wealth since the first season.
I have a theory that the loan is still pilling with interest, and the bank will a hire certain man who can change his face to get even.

I Can't Get On Board With How The World Falls
It's never really properly explained. Rick wakes up and it's all over. In Fear the Walking Dead the infection progresses beyond tipping point in the background.
People come back from the dead and infect others through bite. I can only imagine this affecting small portions of the population before there was an overwhelmingly decisive response by authorities and average people who all but eradicate the existing outbreaks and establish ongoing contingencies to minimise further outbreaks. Especially with slow moving zombies.
It doesn't take away from my enjoyment of the show though. I'm completely on board with the harsh problems and situations forced on the survivors. I just stopped trying to think how the world became that way.

Is 5 seasons going to be enough?
5 is the rumored number of seasons this show is going to have.
-
Season 4: Full blown Saul Goodman creatively solving cases.
-
Season 5: Move towards during Breaking Bad and Gene.
That's really one full season of Saul in a show about Saul Goodman. It would be kind of sad. I really think 6 seasons would be the way to go here. Give 2 full seasons of Saul before you move the timeline. Point here is 5 is really cutting it short.

[Show and Comic Spoilers] Thoughts I had on the communities.
Looking at some of the communities I had to wonder if we've seen the development of society? First after the outbreak were small, splintered groups and loners, like the Atlanta camp. Then came people grouping together to make larger numbers, settling in one place like the prison or Woodbury. As time went on more people began to arrive at these communities and they grew and grew and became more developed, like the Hilltop and kingdom. And now they've started to link up with each other and make an even bigger network.
If Rick and co went back to Atlanta would they find something similar to what they have up north? If they hadn't lost the prison it would only have grown bigger and become more developed and then they would've found other like them. Is it the same everywhere? If they kept finding more could they unite communities from the Midwest, from Texas, from Florida, even California? Maybe even parts of Canada and Mexico? Couldn't they begin rebuilding the USA?
And that brings me to my last point. As the comic readers know, now in the comics there seems to be a new, big group in Ohio that are in the beginnings of communication with Eugene. A lot of people are theorising on what that means but here's what I think; we've seen the slow rebuild of society throughout the show and the comics. Currently there's hundreds of people spread across several communities that are all closely linked to each other. And now they're finding more like them.
Who knows. 100 issues ago there was no Alexandria, no Hilltop and no Kingdom, no Oceanside or Sanctuary or Whisperers or even a community in Ohio. All there was was a dozen people roaming the wild. In 100 issues the world of the walking dead could be so much bigger. By issue 268 there could be communities all over America working together to rebuild civilisation. And what could stand in their way?

If you need a new show to scratch the Breaking Bad itch, try Fargo.
I know this has been recommended around this sub before but Fargo is an amazing show. It doesn't quite top BB for me but it comes very close (which says a lot about its quality). The first season feels very Breaking Bad-esque with the protagonist morphing into an antagonist across the numerous episodes. Overall Fargo is a great crime drama/thriller and if you need a show like BB in your life (and if you already watch Better Call Saul, because season 3 of that is starting to feel like Breaking Bad), definitely check it out!

[SPOILERS][Show] Let's talk about the world of The Walking Dead (Part 1)
There's always a robust discussion on r/thewalkingdead concerning the realism of the apocalyptic setting in which the show is set. For this discussion I'd like to stick to the show in order to make it accessible to the most redditors possible (personally I'm of the belief that the comics have dealt with this topic better than the show).
For Part 1 let's talk about the universe of The Walking Dead. I'll get the ball rolling with some prodding questions:
So...what is the wider world in which Rick and company live like? It seems like at this point every community our characters encounter have experienced some level of horrific violence at the hand of other people. Do you think this is the norm everywhere, or is it an American thing? Is every corner of the globe an apocalyptic wasteland, or are there some peaceful farmers living out Hershel's dream? Or is there a Californian Negan, an Egyptian Negan, a Quebecois Negan, etc.,?
Where are the rest of the people, by the way? Has any government, anywhere, managed to keep their society together? What about Carribean and Pacific islands? Tibet, Nepal and Bhutan? Greenland, Siberia, or the Canadian arctic? Are the Aussies making a decent go of it? How are societies with much lower concentrations of firearms and ammunition fairing if even the Americans are starting to run out? You would think there would be at least a few military bases that have become towns out there, wouldn't you? What about nature? We've seen a few deer, some small game (opossum, squirrels, etc.,), and a couple of dogs, but what about the rest of the natural world? In Chernobyl, the Korean DMZ, and other areas of the world abandoned by people nature has rebounded and flourished. How much are wolves, cougars, or other large predators affected by zombies? Tigers and pigs seem to be able to eat the flesh of the dead; are wolf packs bringing down walkers and just avoiding the teeth while they eat? What about the orcas, or even blue whales?
I hope somebody replies or I'm going to feel super awkward. Lastly, let's try to keep this discussion original where we can, and not simply rehash "Well, in WWZ" or "In Fido..".

An abnormal amount of references to Nazi Germany?
Breaking Bad seems to be full of references to the Nazis: Walt's alter ego is named after a scientist of Nazi Germany, Jesse does a "Heil Hitler" to Walt, Walt tells Jesse a story about some US soldiers destroying Nazis' weapon utilizing ricin, Hank says "it's not Nazi Germany" in season 4 and the end antagonists are Neo Nazis.
Those are just the ones I remember off the top of my head. Is there some deeper meaning behind all of these hints? I doubt they're a coincidence.

[EVERYTHING] Jaqen H'Ghar...
NOTE: I'm using the name Jaqen H'Ghar to refer to what is presumably the same Faceless Man choosing to use that persona in his interactions with Arya in the television show.
One thing that has always nagged at me is how, exactly, Jaqen H'Ghar came to be held in the Black Cells, and thus wound up with Yoren as a Night's Watch recruit. Given everything we know about the Faceless Men, and given that, on the show at least, Jaqen seems to be a high "priest" (or high-ranking member) of the House of Black and White...how did he wind up in the Black Cells?
Adding to that, Jaqen specifically calls to Arya to free him from the barred and locked cell cart, and then finds her at Harrenhal. When he explains the life debt he owes her, he specifically mentions the Red God (and his due)...we know that the HoBW has altars to all the gods of death, as they are all the faces of THE god of death (hence "the many-faced god"). It's interesting to note, however, that Jaqen specifically mentions the Red God when he firsts interacts with Arya.
I'm wondering if Jaqen intentionally set himself on Arya's path due to some prophecy (possibly he originally worshiped the Red God before coming to the HoBW and becoming a Faceless Man)...she clearly has an important role to play, and he saves her life and then gives her the coin and the phrase (Valar Morghulis) necessary for her to travel to Braavos and pursue training at the HoBW.
When Mel (a priestess of the Red God) encounters Arya, she also mentions that she sees in Arya many sets of eyes - eyes belonging to the people she will kill.
What do you think? Is this all related to the fact that Arya has some prophetic part to play in the fate of Westeros? We know she will be a vital player in the endgame, however the references to the Red God (and Syrio's mention of the God of Death) seem to indicate a specific, possibly prophesied, role for her in the future.
Or, you know...do you think it was all coincidence? On my end, I cannot see how Jaqen could have been captured and held at the Black Cells in the Red Keep given his skills. If he wanted to escape, he would have.
I know this is somewhat different in the books - there is a FM at the Citadel, and the Kindly Man (and others) at the HoBW, so clearly there are multiple FM agents in play in the books. They do, however, have a clear agenda, even if we do not understand what it means quite yet.

I rewatched the pilot today
I finished the series for the first time last month (quite late to the party, I know) and I was interested in a rewatch.
I'm kind of an emotional person, and at the end of Felina I was crying like a baby, but I didn't expect the pilot to hit me this hard this time around.
When Walt records his goodbye for his family, it was so real and ominous. When they choose where to cook, all I could hear was Jesse's voice in To'hajilee, "the very first place we cooked, like ever". When at the end Skyler is worried about the relationship with Walt and he makes love to her...
I couldn't help it, by the end of the episode I was crying. Knowing how everything was going to crash and burn, it was worse than Felina.
Has anyone else experienced stronger emotions upon a rewatch?

What's a tv show you made it far into, but decided not to finish?
For me, the first that comes to mind is Sons of Anarchy. I somehow made it through 5 seasons (after season 3 it went downhill) and I just couldn't handle it anymore at the beginning of season 6. The show had just gotten ridiculous.
What other shows did you make it into (watched at least a season) and ended up abandoning?

(SPOILERS) What scene do you think Walter finally "breaks bad"?
In my opinion I think it's the scene when Walt hits the two dealers with his car and gets out and picks up the gun and shoots one of them in the head, he turns into a real badass at that point.

[MAIN SPOILERS] What is your end game for Dany?
I'm thinking that she will marry Jon, the King in the North, to secure the loyalty of the Northern lords without much bloodshed. The North mainly wanted independence because they didn't want Southerners calling the shots for them all the time, but now that one of their own is there, they might be more compelled to live under the Iron Throne again. Jon, Dany, and probably Bran would team up in an epic battle with the White Walkers, and Jon and Dany would survive. I'm thinking that at least 1 of her dragons will die, however. They gradually fall in love even though they only married for political reasons. She'd be a good queen, but as the years pass, she succumbs to Targaryen madness, wanting to burn everything and kill people left and right, forcing Jon to eventually kill her. And somehow, Jon would also discover that their children would inevitably succumb to madness just like their mother, and he would have to kill them, too, so they do not succeed him. Jon would live out his days as King and maybe remarry, but he would live out the rest of his days, miserable, never being able to get over what he had to do.

[Main Spoilers] So, who actually supports Cersei?
As things stand right now in the show, I can't tell who actually is willing to lend Westeros' newest queen their support. The Reach, Dorne, the Yara Greyjoy faction, and Daenerys are all bearing down on her. In the North with support of the Vale, Jon has been proclaimed KOTN (while Littlefinger plots in the corner), though his concern is the White Walkers and not the Iron Throne. Infighting will likely start among the Freys, turning the Riverlands into one big clusterfuck. There are plenty of B-list Lannisters back at Casterly Rock whom I doubt will support Cersei after blowing up Kevan in the Sept. Oh, that's right, she blew up a massive part of the city and likely killed/maimed hundreds, if not thousands. There's only so much Ser Gregorstein can do when the entire city wants to kill her. Where does Cersei go from here?

The moment I think it all changed for Walt
I've been rewatching the show, and the last episode I watched really struck a chord with me ("Over", s. 2 ep. 10). It's right after he and his family get the results from his first round of chemo and find out that his tumor shrunk by 80%. The next morning, Skylar tucks him into bed, kisses him and seems like she truly loves him (for the first time in a while at this point). He has a stack of books, the love and relief of his family, and the whole day off. It really seems like if he just quit everything that day, his life would have gone back to normal. And what does he do? Relax for about 2 seconds, throw the books across the bed and call Jesse. He seems so bored and disgusted with the mundane of his 'old life' at this moment, and I think it shows how much he changed.
I think this is where we really see how much he truly loves what he does and who Heisenberg is. People say it comes later on, with his iconic phrases and stuff ("stay out of my territory") but I really think that this moment is basically the turning point of the whole series and definitely doesn't get enough attention.

[EVERYTHING] Silly mildly amusing thing happened while listening to the audiobook.
Got in the car to go to work, accidentally hit the Pandora icon instead of Overdrive but backed out immediately and started up the book.
Got a quarter mile down the road, Roy just read the part where Gilly takes advantage of Sam's consumption of rum and lowered herself onto him and Sam let out a whimper...
Suddenly, music kicks in, and I'm like WTF, the audiobooks never have music... Turns out Pandora took its sweet time loading, and Sam and Gilly's sexy soundtrack was Pat Benetar's "Hit Me With Your Best Shot".
Silly, I know, but it made me lol when it happened.

How can this show bridge the BB gap?
We all know that this show takes place before BB, and will presumably end after BB with Gene. Many people don't want this show to linger in Breaking Bad territory because it should stand on its own.
If this show really does want to stand on its own and not prominently feature Heisenberg, how can the show explain why Saul has gone into hiding to non-BB watchers? It just feels like such a huge part of the plot, I dont know how they could just skip over it. Any thoughts?

Rebecca theory
The synopsis for next week's episode "Sabrosito" is "Jimmy asks a favor of Mike".
Then in the synopsis for "Chicanery", the week after that: "Jimmy looks to Chuck's past to secure his future."
Right now, I am guessing that the favor that Jimmy asks of Mike is to track down Chuck's ex-wife, Rebecca.

Only 3 episodes in and I think that season 3 is going to be the best season so far. I've gotten so much pleasure from the first 3 episodes unfolding. I feel the music scenes this season are just flattering. When jimmy was in custody holy shit that was so good. Mike and Gus interaction in beginning.
I am just so excited for the rest of the show. That last episode in particular felt like I was watching breaking bad. There really starting to mesh together right now and i am thrilled. I'm cool with the slow burn and I do believe better call Saul has been a slower burn than breaking bads earlier seasons,(which are actually my favorite seasons of BB). But things are really starting to heat up. I haven't had a single moment of boredom in season 3 what so ever. Vince Gillian you are a legend. Idk how you have pulled this off. And seeing that article today about taking it post Breaking Bad got me all erect and shit lol. It's like we have Breaking Bad and now the prequel BCS and it's also will be able to become a sequel to it. That's the only way I would want it done. :))

[EVERYTHING] Some thoughts/questions on the Valyrian steel dagger, and chaos.
So, I just started a complete rewatch of the series and am planning to get re-caught up before Season 7 begins. I just finished with the first few episodes of Season 1, and I was thinking about the Valyrian steel dagger that was used in the assassination attempt against Bran.
So to recap... Littlefinger claims it used to belong to him, and that he lost it in a bet with Tyrion in a tournament a while prior. Baelish says that he bet on Jaime and Tyrion bet against him, winning the dagger when Loras unhorsed Jaime. Obviously this cannot be true because we know that Tyrion would never bet against Jaime.
But was that ever revealed in the show? As far as I can remember, I don't think the show ever tells us this is false. I didn't read the books but from reading around online, my understanding is that the dagger actually belonged to Robert Baratheon, and that Joffrey sent it with the assassin because he wanted Bran dead. I think - correct me if I'm wrong there please.
In Season 4 it comes out that Lysa Arryn poisoned Jon Arryn with Tears of Lys and wrote the letter to Catelyn telling her the Lannisters were involved... all at Littlefinger's instruction. So this must have happened soon before the show even begins on Season 1 Episode 1.
My question is this: How the fuck could Littlefinger have possibly been able to forecast that these things would bring him to a position of power? I know that "chaos is a ladder" and all that jazz, but Littlefinger couldn't possibly have known at that time that Bran would be pushed from the tower, or that someone would attempt to kill him, or really any of the other immediate incidents that weigh into Ned's decision to accept Robert's nomination as Hand of the King. Obv in the show it works out for him, but it seems like it could have so easily resulted in a lot of trouble caused for a lot of people that might not have brought him any gain whatsoever.

I don't think Chuck will die
From a psychological (and narrative) standpoint, it doesn't seem to make much sense that Chuck will die.
If Chuck dies, even now, I think Jimmy will feel a lot of guilt about it. It would motivate him to step away from the con-artist life, not towards it.
I think what's more likely is that Chuck will survive, and create a lot of pain for Jimmy. Chuck might somehow ruin Kim's career, or maybe inadvertently cause her death. Jimmy is probably going to blame Chuck for all of the suffering in his life, and that will push him to take up the Saul Goodman lifestyle.

I think we're going to see Hank soon.....
Either in the last episode of this season, or within the first two episodes of Season 4. (S3:10 - S4:02, around there.).
Why?
Well, I don't have much evidence to go off of this, but....
We know that DEA Agents are now capturing Hector Salamanca's men at the border customs checkpoint, thanks to Mike & Gus' doing.
As Mike gets drawn into the criminal underground in his alliance with Gus, essentially deeper, heavier shit, it's going to draw the attention of law enforcement - specifically the DEA.
In Seasons 1 & 2, only small time, petty criminal activity drew the attention of local law enforcement, i.e. police departments, etc.
Here, it will be federal authorities, as the level of crime becomes more severe and Mike and Jimmy dive into darker waters.
Enter: Hank Schrader.

SUNK COSTS- 2 Other Easter Eggs & a Godfather Reference
“Yea Big”
When Mike/Mr. Clark visits the clinic he uses this term with hand gestures to approximate the package size he needs. In BB S2E8 Saul also uses the same term when talking with Walter as Mr. Mayhew: “Option B: Brandon goes up to the penitentiary…….” Also Note that (1) Both scenes involve fake identities: Mike as “Mr. Clark” and Walter pretending to be Badger’s uncle, "Mr. Mayhew” Another fake identity: This is the BB scene where “Saul” reveals “My real name is McGill....” and (2) Mike’s ruse (Montezuma’s "Revenge") to visit the clinic is gastrointestinal-related and Saul’s prediction for Badger’s fate in prison is also gastrointestinal-related!
He Has A Good Heart
Chuck’s pre-trial interview with Kyra Hay also recycles the “He has a good heart, but…” line which was used by Chuck when talking with Kim about Jimmy in REBECCA S2E5, which was likely inspired by a line from Michael Corleone to Tom Hagan about Fredo in The Godfather 2, given VG’s and PG’s well-known admiration of that movie. Also Note that in all 3 of these scenes (1) the discussion involves brothers and betrayal (2) this dialogue is spoken to attorneys (Kim, Kyra Hay and Tom Hagan, who is the Corleone family’s consigliere/attorney) and (3) Symbolism of Half Lit/Half Shadow Face for both Chuck and Michael – What are they really “hiding” when they say this line?

[NO SPOILERS] A reason to love the GoT community
A week ago I (an American) was in Venice walking around in the Dungeon, and the acoustics were really good, so I started whistling the Rains of Castamere. Then from the other side of the prison I hear someone else join in, and then a third from the other side. Then one of the people starts whistling the theme song and we join in. I just thought it was incredible that I was in a country I have never been in making a connection with people I never have and never will meet who probably didn't even speak English.

Will there be any gaps in the programming for season 3?
This could be a dumb question, but I couldn't find the answer anywhere else. I can't quite recall if previous seasons had two week gaps on occasion; but I know other shows that decide to do this from time to time.

Dear White People | Discussion
Full season just came out on Netflix, and considering the hullabaloo that the trailer caused i thought i'd check it out and i've enjoyed it so far. Its certainly not a half hour white bashing, theres ridiculing of people who act like everything is an affront to Black culture and those who wouldn't admit racism is even a thing. Hopefully people will give it a go without forming their opinion by its title.

Why do people decide Kenny should (Spoiler) being an extremist while Rick is justified in being an extremist?
I have this question I hope for answers. Kenny from Telltale's The Walking Dead series is considered too dangerous to be alive so the players and fans feel he should die due to being so dangerous, yet with Rick Grimes, who is brutal and just as dangerous, who decides to kill anyone who he assumes is a threat is completely justified? I know what you are probably going to say, "Rick is only trying to protect his people. He and his group have been through a lot. Cannibals, bandits, outlaws and dangerous strangers. Of course he will become extreme!" And Kenny? They feel that what he does is not justified! He had been through a lot too! He lost his wife, son, best friend and will do whatever it takes to protect the only person he has left that truly understands him. He ran into dangerous groups which gave him a brutal beating, threatened Clementine and Russians that opened fire on his group! Yet they feel that what he does is not okay! He is protecting Clem and AJ! Why is it justified for Rick to be extreme and get away with just murdering anyone he encounters but not okay for Kenny to do whatever it takes to protect his loved ones? You are probably going to mention the part where he kills Jane all because she 'killed' AJ. How do you think Rick would react when someone killed Carl!? He would do whatever it took to make sure that person suffered every technique of torture and pain before killing them.

[EVERYTHING] The importance of the raven
GRRM has never been clear on exactly how large Westeros is, or exactly how long it takes to travel between places. What we do know, is that Westeros is massive. For example, it takes a few weeks to travel between Winterfell and King's Landing on horseback.
This is why the raven is so important. It is the only reliable way the Lords of Westeros can communicate relatively quickly. Now I know they aren't perfect, but ravens seemly can travel hundreds of miles in a day for people to receive news as quickly as they do.
This is why ravens are the single most important thing keeping the Seven Kingdoms together. Without them, it would be impossible to know the state of affairs throughout the realm. It would be much too easy for people to rebel and you not know until they show up at your gates. These creatures are what makes the Iron Throne so far ahead of its time as a form of government.
The medieval system was always a form of decentralized government. While smaller lords could declare fealty to a greater lord(the king), the small lords still pretty much had total authority over their lands most of the time. One of the few times one saw the King exercising his power, was during a war when he called his vassals to help him.
In a medieval system it was hard to have common law across the entire kingdom. Lesser lords could pretty much do as they please. It wasn't even a guarantee that most people could speak the same language in the same kingdom. In France for example, what we know as modern french didn't become widespread until after the French revolution. Before that, French citizens all spoke their own regional dialects of the language.
One of the reasons we didn't see centralized governments arise in our world until the last 200 years was due to a lack of quick and reliable mode of communication. After the invention of the locomotive and the telegraph, we started to see governments evolve into the centralized modern nation estates of today.
The telegraph and locomotive are also what allowed the United States to expand west. Without these two key forms of communication and transportation, the US would have never been able to take and hold the lands west of the Appalachians.
Now don't get me wrong, the Iron Throne is very much a feudal monarchy; but it shares some things in common with modern centralized nation estates. It has a common currency used by all, as well as a common language. The king seems to have broad authority to dictate law across the whole realm. An example of this would be when king Jaehaerys I Targaryen banned the first night tradition, or when Tommen decided to ban trial by combat.
The raven is the glue that holds these kingdoms together in times of peace. So forget dragons. If it wasn't for the ravens, Aegon the Conqueror would have never been able to keep control of the Seven Kingdoms. No matter how many times he reconquered them.

I am a Lawyer, I moved to China because I was in a relationship that was basically identical chuck and jimmy
I had to deal with (and I still fucking deal with) a much much more successful lawyer in my life who is severely mentally ill.
They are a severe hypochondriac, they are obsessed with a certain disease and it has given them very hatful and irrational views.
This other lawyer and I worked together for YEARS but I was never given a job at their very fancy firm, even though they had 100% discretion to hire me, this person attempted suicide many times where I had to help them through it and keep it all under wraps
Most people they worked with knew they where insane, but the bigotry associated with this insanity would shock them- this person comes off super liberal
They have not seen the show but they have been made aware of the chuck jimmy relationship comparisons of our relationship, to which we both agree I simply would have had chuck committed and taken the money- I have urged my colleague to stop working since they inflict self harm and well, eventually they will kill themselves
Our relationship grew so toxic that after my own law partner did kill the self and my ill colluege still would not give me a job I decided I needed to move to China
They are still working and still insane and still bothering me even in China, which honestly is a big part of why I am so self destructive here- I deeply deeply hate this person for not giving me a job but I still am able to get enough money out of them even here that I have not ceased communication entirely
I will say this, and mean this deeply-
Chuck is not the evil person, Kim is
I hate Kim because Kim is to me, the most disgusting figure
Blah blah blah she loves and cares about jimmy- NO SHE DOES NOT OR THEY WOULD SHARE A PARTNERSHIP
I have lived through chuck, chuck is an ill bastard, but Kim only cares about herself and WILL NEVER SACRIFICE FOR JIMMY
Anyway I am drunk and I don't want to be more specific cause you know lawyers

[MAIN SPOILERS]Tyrion's "Big shadow."
In the first book in the first Jon Chapter there is a quote "When he opened the door, the light from within threw his shadow clear across the yard, and for just a moment Tyrion Lannister stood tall as a king." another quote When Tyrion was talking to Varis about who holds the power “So power is a mummer’s trick? A shadow on the wall, Varys murmured, yet shadows can kill. And ofttimes a very small man can cast a very large shadow.” There are many other Quotes about Tyrions "Big Shadow." Originally I Thought that this was foreshadowing him sitting on the throne but the more I thought about it the more I realized that It was most likely Foreshadowing Him Being hand Because He has said that he never wants the throne.

Who is the most natural Father-Son duo you've seen on TV?
I'm rewatching Prison Break, and I just can't help but think that Lincoln and LJ are very believable. Their dynamic is great.
Who else did you really buy as father and son, or if you can think of one, mother-daughter, father-daughter or mother-son?

[Comic and Future Show Spoilers] Future seasons and character ageing
To preface this, I know that this topic has come up before, but I really couldn't find anything that specifically addressed this thought I have been having. It is very likely that the show goes through with the comic timeskip, either in the midseason break of Season 8 or before Season 9.
Pardon my math as I am working with general estimates of days/week to simplify things.
According to the wikia (which hasn't updated the show timeline since "A Rock in the Road) up until that point 634 days have passed since the outbreak. Being overly generous and for the sake of simplicity, let's say that the Season 7 finale occurs on 10-15 days later, so day 645-650. This is ~ 1 year, 10ish months since the outbreak. The comic book timeline is actually shorter than this, putting the Season 7 finale events at day 603, or ~ 1 year, 8ish months after the outbreak.
Now, we know that Carl started out younger in the comics and the show and was retconned into being older to make the narrative make more sense. However, that still puts post timeskip Carl in the comic somewhere between 13-15, younger than Chandler Riggs who is playing pretime skip Carl as between 13-15.
Everyone is just assuming that the show will stick with the 2 year time jump in the comics. However, wouldn't it make more sense to increase the time jump to 3 or 4 years? World wise, this would allow for really developed "New World" settlements. Strategically, aging Carl to between 18-20, Judith to like 5, and Maggie's baby to between 3-4 allows them to advance forward with seasons and not have as huge of an issue with timeline. This also gives them more room to explore the more explicit content between Carl and Lydia, if they choose to, because I find it very unlikely that AMC would sign off on that content if the character of Carl is still supposed to be a minor for fear of rustling the wrong jimmies.

[MAIN SPOILERS] Approximately how much time has passed between season 1 and season 6?
Currently rewatching all of the series to refresh before season 7 comes out and just watched episode 4 of season 7 where Jon Snow and Sansa Stark are finally reunited. This got me thinking, about how long had they been separated? Better yet, could anyone possibly provide some sort of appropriate 'timeline' that marks year by year when some of the major events in the show have occurred? Anyone wanna take a stab at it?

[EVERYTHING] How many people think this Bran and Rickon in Season 2?
By "this", I mean: How many people think Bran and Rickon died in Season 2 when Theon bruned those two orphan boys. Theon soon after killed all of the ravens so word couldn't be spread about the Starks "deaths", but I assume Sansa, Catelyn, etc. knew about it at some point or another. So before Sansa and Jon found out they were alive, how many people thought of them as dead? How many people still do?

Just finished watching Breaking Bad for the first time - sharing my thoughts!
Someone very dear to me told me innumerable times to watch this show. He passed away last year and now I finally have. I regret not doing it sooner because I now have all these conversations I wish I could have had with him about it! He loved watching me watch shows because I'm a talker, ask stupid questions, come up with silly theories, and generally get emotional. He laughed a lot as we watched True Blood and The Wire.
Anyways since I can't share with him, I need to share with a random group of internet strangers.
1) Love Jesse Pinkman - how can you not? He's the impulsive, goofball small time drug dealer with moments of absolute brilliance. His story arc is the most gut wrenching. Just the physical transformation made me sad. He was also one of the few who remained true to his core and values - he cared about Brock right till the end despite the toll on him. I hate it when writers destroy characters I love. That's how I felt about Jesse. I really hope they have a series dedicated to him so the writers can redeem themselves!
2) Also liked Hank a lot. He was true and authentic and just a bulldog. Killing him felt unnecessary and over the top. Yes he was cocky but he was so good at his job.
3) I think I lost sympathy for Walt fairly early. And so I ended up watching the show not for him, but more for Jesse and Hank. Which is why the back half of the final season was even harder to get through.
4) Skyler was one of the most unsympathetic characters for me. First the affair. Second giving the money to Beneke?!?!? I liked that they didn't leave her as a simple submissive wife trope (which I'm sure could have happened). Once she started laundering the money, I think she would have been okay enjoying the wealth and still hating Walt. And that makes her weak and unprincipled.
5) I didn't mind Marie or the purple :). Her backhanded comments reminded me of my own aunts. But she didn't have much more depth.
6) I wish they had done more with Flynn/Junior. He was so bland and I can't believe that Walts kid would be. His only moment of strength was the 911 call towards the end. He didn't show a moments hesitation to do what none of the adults had done.
7) Why was there a baby in there? Why not just two kids or just Junior?
8) Most of the non-core characters felt very cartoonish to me - Gus Fring, Tuco, the brothers, the cartel, Gomez. The show was long enough to bring more depth.
9) They should have avoided the whole Welker crew and Todd storyline. It added so little in the way of drama for me and could have been achieved another way. Plus I hate them and it makes rewatching so much harder.
10) The heists and "science" of the show was the best part! I wish they had done more of it. Some of the individual episodes are probably better than 80% of heist movies out there.
11) I'm mostly neutral towards Walt. But I do admire him for his gumption, brains and deep seated hate. I wish I had half his desire for revenge because there's an asshole at work who really deserves an (verbal) ass whooping and I wish I had a Walt-like-over-engineered revenge I could exact.
12) I might have let Jane Margolis choke too. And Andrea was annoying. Sorry Pinkman.
