Why doesn't this show just drop down to 12 episodes per season, use the same budget, and cut most of the bullshit?

Surely it would gauge much more interest in the show than it currently does. I know so few people that haven't given up on the show. They all say binge watching it was good, but watching it week by week can really test your patience.
