Not sure if this has been mentioned, just noticed this in issue #18

At the end of the issue, there is a list of characters, their status (dead/alive/unknown), and a short biography. In Dexter's status, he is listed as dead, even though he doesn't die until issue #19

[SPOILERS] Just finished (caught up) on the show and I have to say one thing....

The battle of the bastard was by far the BEST piece of cinimatography and best action sequence I have ever seen in a show or movie. I have no words. Almost an entire episode with little dialogue and just a raw, brutal battle that keeps you on the edge of your seat waiting for a stray arrow, or blade, or horse to kill John. I seriously have never been taken aback like this from how... for lack of a better word... beautiful it was. Out of all the episodes I am going to rewatch that one first.

Origin/Solution of the Walker Virus?

Has the origin of the Walker virus ever been explained in the comics? Have they made any significant strides in trying to find a way to make it stop? Or does it always remain a mystery?

Just curious!

Why didn't give the show the budget it needed?

We could have had maybe 2 seasons on the start of the outbreak.. Or maybe even follow a different group every season in a different part of the country? The writers don't give a f. How did Morgan turn from one of the best characters into one of the worst and now his nickname is momo.

I hope the show tanks season 5 and loses a lot more viewers. It will show the people at AMC that we will not stand for thir bs.

At this point the show needs to be canceled.

The walking dead is my favorite show of all time.. I was hooked from day 1.. Fear has always been mediocre.

I don't know alot about camera tricks ans makeup and such, but how did -spoilers-

They make Walt in the older versions look like that, just loads of weight loss or something? Because the first time I saw this I was wondering this, any answers? Or just real good makeup?

The ultimate Irony of Breaking Bad: Walt's actions did a good job of cleaning New Mexico when it was all said and done.

In the first episode, Walt takes out Eddie and Crazy 8. In the last episode, Walt killed Lydia and the Nazis. In between, the chain reaction started by Walt got these criminals out of commission:

Tuco

The Cousins

Don Eladio

Pretty much the entire cartel

Gus

Mike

Saul

Combo

The two dealers who killed Combo

Declan and his men

Victor

Various other henchmen

Gale

When it was all over with, there were no major players in the meth game left. It took one unfathomable crime spree to get there, but post-Felina things look bright.

[SPOILERS] Betrayal of Cersei

With the 3ER in hand, how in the wintery hell of westeros can the North be betrayed? And what benefit will be Jamie? That knowledge is quite useless as Bran will already know that Cersei plans to betray her word.

I will not be surprised if the writers just ignore that fact based on their level of writing in season 7

[Spoilers] Meetings yet to happen

After the Dragonpit & Away Team mission north of the wall gave us the wet dream of character interactions, I thought There was no more meet ups I'd like to see. But I was wrong. Here's a list of some character interactions that I hope makes it in the final season of Game of Thrones. What am I missing?

  • Arya & Bronn -"Ohhhh look at the lil girl thinkin she's a fighta"
  • Tormund & Tyrion - "They say rubbing a dwarfs head is good luck for your cock" "Should I drop my pants or do you want the honors?"
  • Jaime & Jon - "You killed my father/grandfather/uncle prepare to die"
  • Cersie & Tormund - "Bless my cock it's the Queen of Cunts"
  • Gendry & Sansa & Arya all in one scene - "He is quit fit though, and just the right amount of rough around the edges"
  • Hound & Dolores Ed "I wish I could say I was happy to see you"
  • Tyrion & Sam "Of course, you've spent 3 months reading books and you fancy yourself a Wizard. I've been reading since my giant head killed my mother and there's no magic in words other than what you give them"

Dead Character swap

If you could swap a character that’s alive in the show with someone who died, who would it be?

For me, I’d swap Tara for Beth, beth was a really interesting character who was developing right before she died, Tara on the other hand has barely changed through the whole series. Easy decision for me.

[Spoilers] I think Cersei actually got under Tyrions skin

Rewatched episode 7 for the first time since the premier, and I hate to say it but I think Cersei mindfucked Tyrion to the point where he might feel compelled to help her in some way. The way she played on his sense of duty to the family, his guilt over everything that happened with the kids and Tywin, then finally the pregnancy reveal, was pretty masterful. Obviously Cersei and Tywin deserve the lions share of the blame for all the fallout, but Tyrion could be convinced otherwise.

Theories from a first-time watcher

I've made posts similar to this one in the Lost and Game of Thrones subreddits, because I thought it would be interesting to share the perspective of a first-time watcher with those who have already seen the show.

So I've convinced my girlfriend to watch Breaking Bad (my second time, her first), and watching this show "through her eyes" is so much fun. I get to watch the show again, catch any details I missed the first time around, and hear her theories for the future of the show with the knowledge of what actually happens in mind.

Speaking of theories, we're halfway through the season 3 premiere, and I asked her if she had any regarding the future of Hank and Walt's relationship (one point we discussed was Walt telling Hank he had half a million dollars in cash in the bag he was holding, and Hank just laughing it off). She thinks that the stress of Hank's job will eventually get to him and he will take a leave of absence/retire, and because of her issues, will also divorce/leave Marie. These two things will leave Hank depressed and jobless, at which point he'll find out about Walt/Heisenberg. But he won't care anymore, and may actually help him, given his knowledge of the DEA. At least, that's what my girlfriend wants to happen. She also believes Saul will do something to fuck over Walt and Jesse.

Boy, she has no idea what's coming.

[SPOILERS]Underrated moments of kindnes?

I've been rewatching the show, and just hit S04E03. Tyrion is in jail, and Pod comes to visit him. They want Pod to testify against Tyrion and say he saw him buy/order poison used on Joff. Pod denied them, and Tyrion basically forbade him to do so, saying he would rather walk to the executioner himself than have Pod's death on his consience.

So that got me thinking, are there any more smaller scenes showcasing kindness, or someone's affection to another, like that which usually get overlooked?

[No Spoilers] Sandors and Chickens

Most people aren't aware of the fact that chickens during the Middles Ages were a Lord's meal. Chickens are worth keeping alive because of the eggs they lay, which represent a steady income. However, Chicken that get's old end up tasting bad.

To have some good chicken during this period, you needed to have a serious amount of wealth because you could afford to not depend on this income.

https://i.redd.it/lvds4k2wmm721.jpg

So when Sandors asks for chicken, it's a great way to look down onto someone because you are basically ruining him. I just thought that knowing that makes this scene even more badass.

SUPERSTORE - why is this show not a massive hit everywhere?

So I’ve been watching this show Superstore on Amazon Prime It stars America Ferreira (Ugly Betty) and a few unknowns

It’s absolutely hilarious. Hands down one of the best American sitcoms I’ve watched in a long time. Completely dry, ridiculous when needs to be and you just wanna binge this show. Also, there’s a guy called Glenn that I was convinced was Kermit the Frog!

Cannot recommend a show more. No live studio audience, no canned laughter, it feels fresh despite being set in a supermarket (traditional setting)

Not sure if big in the USA or not but here in the UK it’s not really known about

Just my thoughts 😁

I can't believe I've never really heard anything about this show. From the pilot, all the way to the bitter end, it had me gripped. Highly recommend to anyone who hasn't seen it. I definitely think this show belongs at the top with Breaking Bad, The Wire, and Game of Thrones. So good.

If There Was A Re-boot, Would You Watch It?

With Kirkman moving his studios elsewhere from AMC and his subsequent lawsuits against AMC, would you invest your time with a reboot of TWD? I can't imagine other actor playing Rick personally, but I would appreciate a series that wasn't marred with so many mistakes and questionable moments in judgement. I would also like a series where Carl doesn't die for no apparent reason.

What are your thoughts on this? What would it take to reboot the series and have a recpetion similar to the level of cultism that exists with the current iteration of the show?

In your opinion, would it be possibe to replicate the authenticity of the comics and still garner the success of the current series?

What would it take for you, as a fan, to be willing to invest in a reboot (non AMC)?

Wow. Just wow. I've said this before and I'll say it again: it's such an amazing show. This is one of the greatest TV series of all time, yo. Vince Gilligan just brought the most out of every character in the show, and it just feels great. The moral and psychological tension is just profound as we see Walt turn into Heisenberg. The ending for me is the mother of all closures, even though it's sad to see Walt go. Anyway, bring on Better Call Saul and Greenbrier.

what’s one character death you felt was unnecessary?

for me, it was carl’s in the main show. it felt almost last minute and his death scene was...mediocre. the fact that they killed him before the whisperers/lydia arc really bugged me.

Walt and Mike were at similar crossroads with Gus.

Werner and Jesse both did something to Gus that would result in a death sentence. Both Mike and Walt were in a position to allow them to have there lives taken or go against Gus. Mike begrudgingly and understandably did what Gus wanted to be done, Walt went the other way and refused to allow Jesse to be killed and even risked his own life to do so. A very loyal move by Walt that would turnout quite badly for him later on.

It makes Mike's last speech to Walt about " You should've known your place" mean a bit more. He had to kill someone he didn't want to that made mistakes, and maybe in his mind Walt should have too.

I know a lot of people hate Walt but his loyalty is admirable, he did something Mike wouldn't.

Goddammit... [spoilers up to and including S4E6 - Just In Case]

Yeah because none of my friends watch this show, none of them warned me about this season heh. I had actually been enjoying it a lot until now. I knew Nick died this season because I accidentally spoiled that for myself while I was still on season 2, so I was emotionally prepared. Obviously I wanted to punch Charlie in the face and that, but that was a few episodes back and I was calming down. Was enjoying Althea, not minding the use of her camcorder stories and 'BEFORE' and 'NOW'. Curious as to Madison's whereabouts but assuming all will be revealed.

And then of course, there is the beacon of light that is John Dorie. 'Laura' punched me right in the feels. I knew Naomi wasn't dead so have been waiting in hope for their emotional reunion. Aaaaand.... Alicia just shot my much beloved John Dorie. Goddamn everyone being so goddamn trigger happy in this goddamn apocalypse. Goddamn everyone's character arcs all ending with them being cold blooded murderers killing for revenge.

John might survive, but Naomi is presumably still a traitor, and they're still being outnumbered by a large group of angry people with more guns than them. Things look pretty bleak. A glance at the titles of other threads on this sub suggests things do not get much better.

Poor John. I would have just stayed in the little cabin with him and fished and played scrabble and watched movies. Fucking Naomi, fucking Alicia, fucking everyone.

So Daryl has to live with getting Rick killed now too, right?

His emotional outburst caused Glenn his life, and if he had just taken Rick to Alexandria, which would've changed nothing since Negan is still alive, or even allowed him to go on his own, he would've never been caught by the herd.

Am I wrong here? Hell, we could even argue that he's the reason Merle died, right?

Skyler was actually a major federal criminal far before getting involved with Walt’s activities.

She:

  1. Commit conspiracy to commit wire fraud and tax fraud

  2. Committed conspiracy to commit obstruction of justice

  3. Committed obstruction of justice

  4. Made false statements to federal agents

The woman signed of on fraudulent tax filings that she knew were fraudulent and this was in S3E2. She was risking her family and risking going to federal pound-me-in-the-ass prison for 10+ years. Keep in mind that this is post SOX/Enron too.

She didn’t even have to report Ted either. She could have just quit and called it a day. But no, not Skyler. She helped Ted cover up his fraud, stayed on the job, and even helped him to cook the books in a more subtle fashion. At least Walt had the good sense to steer clear of the IRS, but not Skyler. She takes it upon herself to actively engage in an ongoing multimillion dollar conspiracy to commit tax fraud.

So before we even begin, this woman is a major federal felon. She risked prison time and tearing apart her family basically for nothing. She made no money out of it, then screwed her criminal co-conspirator, and gave him all of Walt’s money to cover up her own inexplicable crime spree. She’s easily seeing well over 10 years just for the crimes she has committed before Walt even enters the picture. It is such poor judgment. But I guess she was looking out for her family when she committed a series of federal crimes out of the goodness of her heart for someone she just coincidentally was fucking.

S5 EP4 - Why does Dawn slap Beth?

I'm on the 4th ep of Season 5, and in the 9th minute that cop just slapped Beth because she got angry at the doctor. Like...what? I've tried to find an answer online but I've had no luck. I assume I find out later on in the episode (or next few), but it was probably the most random (and stupid) thing I've seen in the show so far. Unless it's later explained that she's like some psychopath.

Anyway, has this been explained at all? I'd appreciate an answer with no spoilers if that is possible. Such a weird episode lol. The doctor's a cool guy though. Thanks in advance!

[Twd, Fear & Comic Spoilers] About 2018...

The whole franchise lost some key characters this year. Carl & Jesus on the main show, Nick & Madison on Fear and Dwight in the comics. From all of them only Jesus and Dwight's deaths progresses the story (the introduction of the Whisperers and respectively the big set up for the Commonwelth arc).

Other than that the Grimes & Clark dynamics were butchered since Carl and Madison's deaths were not needed, especially Carl's since the audience will never get over the Riggs fiasco both as an actor and character. I was never a big fan of the Madison character but Kim Dickens deserved better than to be kicked out just because the production wanted to reboot the show. And actors like Tom Payne and Frank Dillane wanted out considering that they were not pleased as actors with their characters.

From what I know Frank wanted out since season 3 but Tom Payne was not happy about his character for years. They could have used him more at least in season 7 since Daryl was a prisoner and traveling between communities, such a shame considering that Tom even trained a lot for the role. But I'm glad that he was happy with his exit.

Overall 2019 is looking better since Clementine's story will be finished after the Skybound & Kirkman fan service, the tv shows should have a better shaped story in seasons 10/5 and the comics will start their biggest arc.

[SPOILERS] My “Cersei’s end-game” theory.

Woke up with a ton of GoT hype for some reason, so here is my morning theory.

Apart of me thinks Cersei’s Golden Company plan will fail or backfire because of the Targaryen connections (I.e. “The Great Bastard” Aegon Rivers who had originally created the Golden Company). I also think Daario will have a role in thwarting any plans Cersei has for the Golden Company. Cersei will either miscarry or birth a dwarf (or something will happen she doesn’t like). Realizing she cannot defeat the “fate” that was predicted by the witch, she’ll decided to “end her life” ...amongst the living at least. Perhaps she’ll march right up to the Night King, surrender and bend the knee or whatever, and become the Ice Queen, for the only chance of revenge she could have...after all, a Lannister always pays their debts.

I’ve heard a lot of people talking about the actor who plays Ser Ilyn Payne, Wilko Johnson, died during the production thus explaining his character’s departure. While he did receive a terminal cancer diagnosis and underwent treatment for it so had to leave the show, I thought it very important to mention that Wilko Johnson is alive and well. He not was not only treated for his pancreatic cancer, but after multiple operations, he has fully recovered and is now cancer-free. He most likely won’t be back on the show apart from maybe a cameo in the future, but he most definitely is alive. Just hope this false fact won’t be spread anymore.

What the fuck AMC? 5 min of show time followed by 5 min of ads?

Just started watching Season 9 after taking a much needed hiatus after 8. Not trying to start a discussion about the quality of the show in more recent seasons but why the fuck is there an ad every 5-10 minutes now? Is AMC just trying to hammer AMC Premiere down our throats? It's not even like their ads in previous seasons where they're placed for a quick reprieve from intensity either, it completely takes you out of the events of the last 7 minutes and I find my brain scrambling to keep up in the first minute.

Considering that Premiere is absolutely out of the question (unless I can abuse a free trial of it in the same way AMC has abused my senses with incessant ad breaks), is the quality of S9 worth it to where I should just suck it up and stop whining or am I better off just waiting for S9 to hit Netflix (however far from now that may be)? I've actually enjoyed S9E1 more than I expected but after just 1 episode I've hit a tipping point with these fucking commercial breaks which is a first for me after 8 years.

[Spoilers] A thought I had about Sansa and Arya..

I was thinking about Lady being killed for something Nymeria did. I'm now playing with a theory that maybe Sansa ends up dieing over something Arya did or saves her in some way. I don't love that because I feel Sansa's arc isn't all the way complete, but it's just a thought I had.

I know it's been said that Lady dieing was in reference to Sansa's innocent views on wanting to be a queen or Lady one day, but it's interesting that she is actually now a Lady and could be killed. Maybe even at the hands of her own kin since Ned killed Lady.

Thoughts?

[Spoilers] I know I am beyond late to the party, but I just finished Breaking Bad and I have to say, I have never hated any show more

I am sure I didnt have to tag spoilers this late in the game, but did it just in case.

Anyways, I hate pretty much every single character in this show. I hate the decisions they made, the way they reacted to situations, their personalities, everything! I hate Walt's mustache, Jesse's haircut, Badger's outfit, petty stuff, but just saying, I mean everything! Yet, I could not stop watching. It sucked me in somehow. I needed to see what happens to this group of people who I absolutely could not stand. I have never watched a show I hated beyond the first couple episodes, but this one, I watched to the very end.

Gus, Mike, and Gomez... the only characters I liked. And of course, they all died. As each dropped, I get more angry, but somehow, even more drawn into the show, which then causes me to be more pissed that I cant stop watching.

Basically, I just came here to rant and say I am so glad this Netflix blackhole I wandered into is over. It was infuriatingly bad/good/horrible/fantastic. Bravo to the writers, actors and producers on this gem. You managed to make me hate and love you all. Damn you!

That is all. I am now going to proceed to search the depths of this Reddit for more information and torture myself further.

Goodnight.

[SPOILERS] My Girlfriend thinks she’s clever

Finally got my girlfriend to start GoT, of course after 1.5 days we’re halfway through the second season.

Remember Stannis attempts to refuse the Red Woman’s advances by telling her, “I have a wife.” My girlfriend states, “Wow he’s the only honorable man in the show”. Without thinking I point out, “Well, you had Ned, he’s one of the most honorable men there is.”

She fires back, “No, he cheated on his wife and had Jon.” She thinks she got the better of me and won’t stop rubbing it in my face that I “forgot about Ned’s dishonorable cheating scandal.” I can’t wait to point out she was wrong.

I love this show. That is all.

Aren't all or most lawyers monkeys with machine guns?

Thinking it over, a lot of this show, even in Season 4, comes down to Chuck and his relationship with Jimmy and specifically why Chuck has so much animosity towards and is so obsessed with Jimmy with his stated reason being that "you're not a real lawyer" and "you're like a monkey with a machine gun".

I'll try to keep it short but in the series we see law firms like HHM who at the very beginning are using the law to try to protect delusional people who stole from the taxpayer, and as much as the head of Schweikart and Coakley acts all respecting of Chuck, his firm is on retainer for a company that has elder abuse as a business model. Like what Chuck accuses Jimmy of, none of these lawyers are above using the law to run rampant through society and hurt people with it for profit and pettiness.

But they dress in their expensive suits and drive their german cars and work in their expensive offices and so they present themselves as the most respectable members of society and not as 'the lawyer that guilty people hire'.

And I think Chuck hates Jimmy because Chuck has given his life to, what he should have known, was an utterly and bizarrely extremely naive notion that 'the law is the greatest achievement of human beings, the principle that no matter who you are, if you do something wrong you get punished' (couldn't find the exact quote so this is a paraphrase) while Jimmy shows what all lawyers really are and he couldn't handle it.

About the season 8 letters

How come that we never found out what Carl said to Michonne or Enid. We only got the ones for Rick and Negan.

I always thought that he made one for Maggie, Daryl and Carol as well.

Would have been nice to see every main character reading their latters and ending it with the one for Rick.

Like him saying to Maggie that he feels bad that she lost her whole family but her baby it's gonna make her stronger. Or saying to Daryl that he gotta trust Rick just like how Daryl told Carl to trust his dad before the Governor attacked. Or finally giving to Carol that apology considering what he said about Sophia.

Something I noticed in season 4 episode 7

The Governor and the brothers found a camp that later was raided by some group. Maybe the Claimers did that since they were around?

I know that this is old but they mentioned in the first part of season 4 that Michonne and Daryl hunted the Governor. Later we saw that the Governor found a cabin that had walkers having plates saying "Liar", "Rapist" and "Murderer". Even a picture of a guy with his family just like he had and some heads as a reference to his fish tanks, most probably that was Michonne taunting the Governor.

Did anyone destroy the copy that Jack Welker and his gang had? The last time we see it, Jack and his gang are watching it and laughing over how much Jesse cries. We know from the last scene of the series that the cops reach the compound, so should we just assume there is still an active manhunt for Jesse? I know the last time we see Jesse seems (somewhat) hopeful for him but is he just totally screwed?

Walt wanted Krazy 8 to fight back

Walt told Krazy 8 he knew about the broken piece of plate because he didn’t want to straight up murder him. This way, he could justify the killing in his mind by arguing it was in self defense. At that early point in the show, he wasn’t ready to kill in cold blood. That was my interpretation on a rewatch. Thoughts?

Fan theory: Bandersnatch is actually a sequel to another Black Mirror episode

Warning spoilers!

So - Bandersnatch is a sequel to White Bear, and we are the punchline

I was expecting this to feature as one of the endings of Bandersnatch but it never did, and the more I think about it, it's an interesting way to view the episode.

As you know, the white bear symbol features heavily in Bandersnatch. This is the key link connecting the two episodes.

White Bear turned punishment and torture into entertainment for the masses through a theme park designed specifically for optimised torture to fit the crime committed by Victoria Skillane. Having filmed the torture of her victim, she herself was chased down and filmed whilst being tortured.

In Bandersnatch, the interactive "choose your own adventure" is a designed torture device for Stefan as punishment for a crime he previously committed (presumably the murder of his father).

Users log on, make cruel choices and force him relive his crimes over and over again. Trapped, Stefan is aware of the choices happening against his free will, struggling to fight against them, which adds to his torture as he loses his mind, again, and again, and again.

There are clues foreshadowing his crimes throughout the episode, just like in White Bear.

Stefan is trapped in a video game designed to torture him. Think about when the film rewinds at the start if you choose to accept the offer to work at Chabuddys videogame mansion. The film resets and things have changed; characters who Stefan hadn't met before suddenly recognise him, Stefan knows details he learned during the first path. So uless Stefan exists outside of space and time, we have to assume what we are seeing is taking place in some sort of game.

Drawing on technology from the other episodes of Black Mirror, this torture chamber could have been created by creating a 'cookie' of Stefan and implementing it in the interactive game. We've seen this before in Black Mirror, but partner the technology with the white bear logo and I think the true meaning of the episode is clear.

Stefan is being tortured for his crimes, being driven to insanity over and over for the enjoyment and entertainment of the masses.

Why does an explicit reveal never happen then like in other Black Mirror episodes?

Because we, the viewers, are the masses, the active participants who are eagerly taking part in the torture. Revelling in decisions to kill fathers and chop up bodies in some very hard to watch and hard to stomach scenes.

There is no final reveal in this episode of black mirror highlighting the dangers and perils of technology, because we are the dangers. We are the faces hiding behind the phones. The interactive story was the best way to get that across. Free will is an illusion and we've just been forced to participate in the torture of a psychologically damaged protagonist - Which I'm sure Charlie Brooker finds hilarious!

What do you think? Who knows, if there is a secret code for a secret ending - maybe it lies in white bear?

Im honest, im only watching because im totaly bored and because its kinda tradition. Everything on that show is super obvious, the plot is allways the same. Since Season 2 its like a mp3 stuck on replay, it repeats over and over again.

I couldnt watch TwD without doing something else to distract me, actually im on my phone when watching (or more like listening) to the show because its impossible to me to just focus on that boring thing...

Thank you the Walking Dead for providing a means to remember my Mom.

Sorry to post like this as it is my first time on this sub and I'm also on mobile so please forgive the formatting.

I've watched this show since it first aired back in 2010. I started the show with my girlfriend (now wife) and I was absolutely hooked. I told my mom about the show and she was completely disinterested. She had no desire to watch it.

Fast forward to right before the season 4 premier, I'm staying with my mom for a week while on break from school. They had just put season 3 of the show on Netflix. I decided to binge it and force her into watching it. She complained, but she eventually relented. I'm her youngest, so she always eventually caved when I wanted to watch something with her.

After the first episode, she put her phone down and was completely glued to the screen. We watched all 3 seasons that week. When I went back home, she would call me the second the episodes finished airing to ask me if I had watched it yet. Then we would talk about what happened, our predictions, what we thought the characters would do, ect.

Well, a year and a half ago she was diagnosed with cancer. Even with that devastating news, we still continued to watch the show like nothing was happening. I kept watching it through the shoe's decline over the last couple of seasons because she watched it.

Back in April, I bought us tickets to see the season 8 finale in theaters. She was so happy to be able to watch it with me. She joked that it would probably be her last episode because the disease was progressing.

She was so depressed about the leaks in May regarding a certain leading man of the show and she said she may stop watching it. Come October, she is still here and glued to the screen. We both enjoyed the immense jump in quality the show experienced.

I started coming to visit her every weekend to spend as much time as possible with her and we would actually watch the show together like we did when she first got into it. We were ecstatic when Rick left the show with promise of a continued relationship with the series.

Now, here we are at MD Anderson. She's fighting for her life and losing. It's so hard seeing her like this. When she passes I will continue to watch this show that we both loved for her sake.

I love you mom, please go peacefully.

Thanks for listening to me vent. I'll get out of your hair.

[SPOILERS] Question about the mythology of winter

I'm on my third watch-through in anticipation of the finale season. I haven't read any of the books, but I'm 100% okay with getting book spoilers in response here.

I've come to accept that the weather in this universe is wonky. On my first (casual) watch-through, I was sort of under the impression that winter only came once every few decades, and that each winter is equally grim, dangerous, difficult, etc. I thought there hadn't been a winter since the last time the white walkers were a threat.

But this time, I paid attention when Tyrion says he's lived through 8 or 9 winters, and the winter of his birth lasted 3 years. So now I know winter comes pretty often, relative to my initial thoughts on it.

So my questions is - Why is this winter significant?

It's been 9 years since the last winter, it's been a long summer, but what makes this winter different from all the previous ones? Does the return of the white walkers have anything to do with the return of winter? Ned is always warning, with creepy foreshadowing, that winter is coming, but winter comes all the time. So I assume he isn't really warning his children about the weather. Is he referring to all of the mess of the previous few generations finally coming to war? Does the coming war have anything to do with winter coming back, or with the white walkers rising again?

PS. I know mythology isn't the correct word, but I guess what I'm looking for is all the details from the books and from the universe that might help me piece these ideas together.

What is up with the ratings?

It is wild that BCS continues to see lower ratings as the series progresses. I honestly think that the first season is the weakest of them all, and it only gets better with each season. I find it sad that the series does not seem to perform as well as it deserves and I hope it does not affect the plans for the plot. Why do you think this happens?

the plot problem

Hi !

straight to the point , i binge watched season1-2 and the first half of season 3

i really liked the first two seasons(i'd give it 8.5/10).

but after the 2nd half of season 3, i feel the show has become meaningless and too much focused on humans with no distant goal(like reach a certain place, find a cure, discover the truth about walkers.....etc),the writing is horrible with a slow pace and too much andrea and woodbury.

will the show get better (writing and plot) ?

NO SPOILERS PLEASE

Rotten Tomatoes is completely useless for television shows.

I'm looking at the 20 newest shows now, and everything is Certified Fresh except for 1 of them. 95% of shows are worth watching?

It seems like every show gets an extra 30-40% just for the added convenience of not having to leave your home. Or maybe it's because a TV season has more time to impress than a movie? I understand the score is an aggregate, but this system isn't working if RT claims everything is good.

At the beginning of this episode, they’re showing them moving the meth in giant plastic bins with blue lids but NO ONE IS FULLY CLOSING THEM CORRECTLY. I work with bins like this daily and you have to make sure the pieces lock together when they close. Even after the intro Walt slams it shut incorrectly. Almost everything about this show is perfect but this really pissed me off. They’d be way more careful if that container was how they were shipping the meth. That’s all.

Theory: Is Negan a reincarnated version of Shane?

This may sound crazy but I actually found many ways how Negan and Shane are related.

They are both EXTREMELY arrogant and want things done their way. Both were prone to have affairs with 2 or more women at the same time, Negan had his wives, Shane messed around with Lori and then had sex with Andrea.

Both were fond of Carl. Both blamed Rick for the way things went, Shane blames Rick for returning and claimed he could have saved Lori and Carl by himself, and similarly Negan blamed Rick for Carl’s death and claimed he could have saved all of Carl by if Rick had let him. I would recommend rewatching and comparing the scenes where Shane and Rick talk for the last time and when Negan and Rick speak about Carl’s death over the walkie talkie cos they’re so similar af it’s scary, it’s almost as if the producers added that scene with Negan and Rick to be like a “Shane was right all along” message.

Of course they have their differences too as Negan said he loved to kill, but Shane(even though he killed Otis and Randall) obviously hated doing it, and only did it if it helped the group. Maybe Negan would be the kind of character that Shane would’ve developed into if he had stayed alive?

Re-watching Season One

I don't like anyone.

Walt is a dumbass for turning down the job offer from Elliot, Elliot and Gretchen are insufferable (I know that second statement explains the first, but come on, meth cook or scientist with benefits?). Skylar is selfish and annoying, Jesse is a shitty son for going and crashing with his parents, Jesse's parents are assholes (yet understandably trying to do the tough love bit), his brother Jake is a smarmy ass kisser, Marie is a useless thief, and Hank is so fucking pompous in season one.

Crazy Eight is the only one who is semi-genuine, and he ratted out Emilio.

Or maybe it's me...no tolerance for the assholes.

My predictions for the second half of season 9

  1. Michonne and Siddiq will get together(I’m beginning to see chemistry between them)

  2. One of Gabriel, Eugene, Aaron, or Rosita will die(they’ve all been in the show since season 4/5 so one of them will deffo die)

  3. Negan will return to the sanctuary and go back to being their leader

  4. Magna, or whatever her name is, will become a main character

  5. Tara will be leader of the hilltop now that Jesus is dead

  6. Judith will go lost, similarly to how sophia did, but she’ll be found

Post your predictions below

Casually rewatching, on S2E9, Blackwater, and I never realized how good the scene is of Cersei and Sansa and all of the ladies of the court beneath the Red Keep. As usual the acting is incredible, I fully believe she's meant to be tipsy, and I love the brutal honesty she shares with Sansa about being a woman, war, etc. Just really solid acting from Lena as always!

Skylar’s 1991 Jeep Wagoneer is way too cool for her

This is my only complaint about BrBa. I’m rewatching for the first time since it ended and it really bugs me that Skylar drives such a sweet ride. It’s not like she’s driving a Ferrari or something but a mint condition 1991 wagoneer doesn’t suit her. Maybe it’s just because she really annoys me that I feel like she should be driving a beat up minivan or old Honda Civic. Walters car suits him perfectly. Typical humble dad car. But Skylar is so undeserving of that ‘91 wagoneer it makes me a little angry. Just wanted to get this off my chest.

So apparently The Walking Dead Rick Movies are officially AMC originals

I don't really don't like this because there is big chances that they will contain commercial, which will pretty much kick you out of the experience, messing up the pacing and will instead feel like an extended special episode of The Walking Dead.

I really think AMC missed the obvious here. You remember that Fandom event where we got to watch TWD S8 finale and the Fear TWD S4 premiere in theaters. I believe they should've had it in theaters as a Fandom event, they could still charge people for tickets. If this happened, we may have an ACTUAL movie and AMC could still get money, happy happy!

Shane

Im rewatching TWD and Shane, wow. I don't know why, but only now did I pay full attention to him. His acting, preparation for the role is brilliant. In the first two seasons Rick and Andrew Lincoln were overshadowed by Shane/Jon. I'm curious if it looked like in later seasons, would it develop even more and break through Lincoln with his prime time?

My theory on how I think the Rick Grimes movies will go (Spoiler in case I'm right, probably not though)

Right so I think the first Rick Grimes movie will obviously be somewhere hundreds of miles away from his family and he'll have some sort of mission (I think this will take place a year into the time jump maybe less) that he has to accomplish or tasks he has to do for whoever the guy in the helicopter is or whoever he is working for. Anne will probably play a big role in him getting back to his family considering she most likely knows where they are and Rick will probably have no idea. So the first movie will be him doing a task/mission and will probably have nothing to do with him getting back to his family but he will still be planning a way back (Basically he won't actually be doing anything to get back to his family he'll just be making a plan) this whole movie will maybe last a year (by that I mean the time period)

The second movie will take place right a few months after the first not too long though so at this point, we are 2 years maybe 2 and a half into the time jump and Rick will start secretly getting what he needs or doing what he needs to do to get back to his family, with the help of Anne and a lot of time will pass in this movie to help catch up to where our characters in the TV Series will be. A different thought I had for this movie was that for some reason his helicopter guy and who he works for will have to go near (as in the same state, I forget which one it is in TV Series, sorry) where our TV Series characters are, so that could be Alexandria or wherever they are at the time, Rick (who is still working for the Helicopter man) will notice somebody he remembers in a forest maybe while exploring with Anne (Could even be Judith that'd be a plot twist and a half) but he can't go to them or let them see him because Helicopter Man will do something (like threaten to kill him or his family) and from there on he'll sort of do what Michael Scofield did in Season 5 of Prison Break (Basically he faked his death and there was a time jump of 7 or so years, He wasn't allowed to see his family or something would happen to him or them so he would sort of spy on them but they weren't allowed to see him because well he was supposedly dead) you can sort of see the similiarites and where I'm getting this theory from

And then the final movie will be all about him reuniting with his family and fighting the Helicopter Mans company or whoever they are and I actually do think this is where Rick Grimes will die like towards the end of this movie but who knows the TV Series might just continue on from there and Andrew Lincoln might want to keep portraying Rick Grimes

That's just my theory, might be a bit ridiculous but I'd like to see what other peoples opinions are and if anyone agrees with me, I haven't read the comics too much so there could be a big hint in there about what happens but I hope I did a decent job at explaining my theory well.

[SPOILERS]Did the leaks about Season 7's plot affect the internet's opinion of the season as a whole?

Curious to get opinions here. I didn't read any leaks/spoilers for Season 7 ahead of time and honestly didn't even know there were any. I avoided the trailer, partly by choice. And overall, while I agree with some of the complaints about the writing and plot armor in this season, I generally think it's one of the better ones.

It's probably right in the middle of my rankings. It managed to surprise me as much as any other season of Game of Thrones, it was suspenseful as hell, especially Beyond the Wall, and it was a real spectacle, which I'd expect from the climax of the whole story. So I'm a bit biased towards it, but I still agree with some of the complaints while personally kinda looking past them.

But most of my enjoyment came from not knowing what was gonna happen next, which kept me in suspense. If I'd read the outline of the season's plot ahead of time in the leaks, Beyond the Wall would've been half as good as I thought it was. Even if I'd seen that fanmade poster that somehow circulated onto thousands of websites as the "real" poster, featuring the NK and his ice dragon perched on top of the wall blowing blue fire, it would've made me enjoy the season a lot less. That one simple picture alone basically fucks up the suspense of almost the entire season by telling you exactly where this is going.

So for those who didn't think it was that good - did you read the plot in the leaks beforehand, or did you see any spoilers by accident? Do you think that affected your opinion in any way?

Its an amazing show that manages to make you actually care about an entity that has no screen time. It has an amazing cast with great writing. Even with the 24 episode format the show manages to be consistently interesting. Ramin Djawadi's scores in this show are just amazing and perfectly fits with the tone of the show. And not to mention the action scenes are great too.

The Governor is a better villain than Negan

Don’t get me wrong, I like Negan (comic Negan is way better imo), but the Governor is a much better villain in the TV series.

I’m rewatching older episodes at the moment, and I’m on season 3. The thing that I love about the Governor is that he doesn’t scare people into following him like Negan does. People genuinely believe in him. Hence Michonne’s reference to Jim Jones. He’s very good at convincing people and straight up lying. Like when the Governor and his men kill the National Guard, he comes up with a story that people will believe. Same for when his two henchmen get killed by Michonne. He tells Merle to “Tell the people it was a supply run gone wrong. Give them a hero’s funeral.”

Hell, the Governor got people to believe in gladiator matches and think those were acceptable. He’s sly and cunning, and I fucking love it. Who do you guys prefer?
