the day will come… (7x1 spoiler and 1x6 connection)

so i’m rewatching the series again from season one, and in the finale jenner says something that stuck out to me. when rick is expressing his gratitude for the chance to live and not die in the cdc, jenner says to him: “the day will come when you won’t be.”

jenner’s whole schtick was getting to die peacefully, with your family in your arms and on your own terms.

the episode where glenn gets brutally murdered by negan, and where the whole group is kneeling in fear and unable to hold one another. it’s titled “the day will come when you won’t be.”

[SPOILERS] I have a real serious doubt and i may have spoiled a friend because of it.

Well, i am really into ASOIAF and GOT and the thing is that i wanted to share this wonderful universe with a friend by lending her the first book of the series.

The situation is that she read the Bran's chapter when he falls and figures out that the Lannister brothers are doing WRONG STUFF. So i started talking about Joffrey being a bastard and how crazy is them hiding it. She acted shocked and told me she did not know what i was talking about.

Since that moment i always assumed that joffrey was a bastard because of the blonde hair and intution. But apparently that is not common and the twist is, for most, revealead at the end.

The doubt is: did you also figured it out at the begging or it was just me with a lucky guess?

HBO Chernobyl series...

I've watched several HBO series. Infact some of my favorite tv shows are from HBO. Curb, Deadwood, the Wire, True Detective, Mare of Eastown. All amazing shows(with the exception of season 2 of TD). But I think one show, even though it is just one season, that gets overlooked sometimes is Chernobyl.

In my mind it a masterpiece. There is not a flaw in the series. It is very intense. The acting from everyone is amazing. The directing is amazing. Cinematography amazing. Edit, sound, score... All amazing. I was listening to the podcast cast that came after the show and someone from the Soviet Union when the accident happened was talking on Twitter how they loved that the series got everything so accurate. I watch from a 3rd time just now and every single time it's just as nail biting as the very first time. I would say it's a good as any single season of tv ever.

Does anyone even remember Merle Dixon?

I know it might be kind of an unpopular take, but I find it quite weird that every time Daryl mentions ''his brother'' he is actually talking about Rick instead of his real brother, Merle. It is known that Merle Dixon was not much of a good person and never was a good influence on Daryl, but in the third season, it is clearly shown that he loves his younger brother deeply. It is not a scene or two, he is always concerned about where he is and if he is still alive, even coming back to the crew he knew he could never possibly get along with just to be there by his side. Hell, in the end, he even DIED for them, died for people who hated him and that he surely was not fond of too, people who left him to die on a roof and wanted him to be as distant as possible. He died for these people just because his little brother cared for them, even with all the bad blood between him and the whole gang.
I'm not trying to reduce Rick's importance to Daryl character growth as well since he was always far more trustworthy and present than his actual brother possibly ever was, but still, I think that people massively overlook Merle's sacrifice and his whole arc as well, not just the fans of the show but it seems that the characters share this as well, and I find it quite tragic.

[NO SPOILERS] Any tips for someone who saw the TV show & just started reading the books?

So I saw the TV show not a long a go for the first time & really liked it. The world & the characters were amazing but I was quite disappointed with the later seasons & ending. Since then I have researched a lot about the author GRRM & the TV show & learned that he hasnt worked on the later seasons & wasnt happy with the ending either. Which is why I wished for the ASOIAF book series for Christmas so I can find out what is actually going on!

Do you have any tips for me as I am reading them for the first time but know some of the story already?

I am a big Harry Potter fan & know that the movies ain't shxt compared to the books & I am hoping for the same here.

Amazon's The Wheel of Time exemplifies some of the worst elements of the fantasy genre

Generic looking sets and costume designs. Silly looking and executed magic. A vague cliche plot about a chosen one and a scary bad guy that he must stop, and that we are told is bad and scary, but never shown. And worst of all, a constantly moving plot that never really stops to develop its characters. It was never clear what exactly was going on, or why I should care.

I know it's based on one of the most well known series of fantasy novels, but this adaptation was just so poorly executed. It is the opposite of Game of Thrones, in that it feels oddly cheap and inaccessible, which is weird considering how much money Amazon sunk into it.

Hopefully they learn and do better in season 2.

In the first season Ser Hugh is killed by the Mountain in a jousting match at the Hand's tournament. Was this an accident or a setup? The show implies that the drawing was rigged so that Ser Hugh would face the Mountain and die, but it never went anywhere. This plot point was just dropped. Is there anything in the books or in interviews that say what the intent was? Was it murder or an accident?

I’m finding shorter seasons aren’t doing shows any favors

At first I thought that if seasons were shorter, even 8-10 episodes, but maintained a high enough quality, shows would be better for it. However, not every show benefits from this and some shows, especially ones with deep lore, are hurt by not giving their worlds time to grow and complex characters time to develop. A season often has a story it tells as well as mixing in an overarching plot. Doing this in 8-10 episodes isn’t always possible, but this seems to be the hard stop for producers these days. I’m not asking for a full 22 episodes, I’m not even suggesting one magic number that’s uniform. I’m just tired of seeing shows suffocate under the pressure of being held under impossible constraints.

Just started watching The Walking Dead three days ago. I absolutely love it to bits.

As said in the title, I started watching this show three days ago. I just finished Season 2 Episode 12 (the one where Shane dies!) And oh my goodness, do I just love it even more. Something that's kept me going is that the show isn't really afraid to kill off main cast members, which a lot of shows can't say for themselves. It makes me think everybody except maybe Rick (until like maybe his contract ends?) can die at any moment and that keeps me engaged. I've tried to keep as far away from Fandom as I can because otherwise i'd spoil it for myself.

Anyways, this show ROCKS... please no spoilers for the show I beg of you

[Spoilers] Can we chat about Daenerys, season 5 episode 10?

I think I’ve finally pinned one of my biggest disappointments with the show, in terms of Daenerys’s representation. This is more for the readers who have also watched the show, I guess, but if you haven’t read the series, don’t let that bother you.

What I was most excited for in Season 5 was Daenerys’s scene in the fighting pits of Mereen. I’ll also put in a little caveat here and say I’m not trying to go into Daenerys’s character per se (because that’d be its own essay hot damn) but I wanna focus on this scene from the books in particular. Lemme just set the scene here:

At this point in the books, you’ve seen Daenerys’s challenges in navigating being the ideal queen for her people, eg, her trying to find a balance between just and fair, kind and harsh etc. You also know that she hasn’t seen Drogon in a long time and that her other two dragons are (ironically) enslaved. Drogon shows up, huge and terrifying and he deals death with his return. Drogon is first attracted to Daznak’s pit due to the screaming and blood. When Drogon first enters the pit, it’s ‘oooh!’ and ‘aaaah’ all over the place, until he starts eating the fighters. Then the fighters are trying to kill him; everyone is screaming out to slay the dragon. So Daenerys runs in, her slippers are falling off, Baristan’s coming in behind her but begging her to keep clear of the dragon. Daenerys gets close to Drogon and she fears he doesn’t recognise her; he spits fire at her and she ducks under the flames. There’s a moment where he snaps at her and almost bites her head off; she looks into his mouth and realises she’s ‘looking into death’. She sees her reflection in his eyes and sees how afraid she looks, and basically tells herself to get her act together because Drogon will eat her alive if he senses her weakness. So she gets up, grabs a whip off the ground and literally whips her dragon into submission. He finally buckles and she’s all aboard now, mounting for a flight. She pulls a spear out of him and whips him again, they fly off together.

This scene was so damn liberating to read; it was frightening and drama-packed and what’s more, it was a first flight scene! It was incredible to see the power dynamics at play between Daenerys, mother of dragons, and her largest, fiercest and most independent dragon. This isn’t some flowery, damsel in distress scene where Drogon comes in and saves the day. Daenerys is trying to save the day from him, while simultaneously trying to save Drogon from everyone else.

Am I the only one who thinks they missed a seriously grand opportunity here? This scene had the potential to be on par (I think) with the emotional charge they achieved with Jon’s Battle of the Bastards episode. This was a huge, huge moment for Daenerys as a character and they reduced her to a position of needing to be saved against all odds because she couldn’t handle her enemies. And then we see the writers make all kinds of accomodations for the Hound, a character that had comparatively little material to begin with, and Tyrion and Bran, who were pretty much past their expiration date? But they couldn’t stick the landing with a hugely gratifying scene when it was handed to them on a silver platter?

I’m sorry and perhaps I sound bitter. I just remember reading that scene and being so excited to see it on screen, only to see it go from a 10 to a 1. Thanks for listening to me rant lol.

[Spoilers] Did Dany really need the help?

The way Dany took KL before the bell rang, it was almost like she didnt even need the help of Northerners against Cersei. She was expecting Jon to agree with Cersei's request during the parley as well.

I know after the great war, Dany's army would have dwindled. Maybe a thousand of unsullied at best and even that would be a stretch. Also, all the Dothraki were dead as well when the battle started at Winterfell but apparently not, after few days' time. This can only mean both execution and plot were poor in S8. I saw ppl were claiming that if one binges the show from S1 to S8, then S8 wont look so bad but i disagree with these glaring plot holes and i've not even mentioned the obvious ones

RANT: now that rick is gone, i don’t even want to finish the show. i want to end it right then and there, and pretend that that was the entire series, and he actually died after blowing up the bridge. somehow, that would make me feel better lol. i’m just scared it’s going to feel like a completely different show. what’s your guys’ opinions on the rest of the series?

also, why did he even leave the show?

New Fan

So I’ve just finished season 1 and I’ve enjoyed it a lot. I can’t believe it’s taken me until now to start watching this. It’s been on my “to watch list” for years. I guess my biggest concern now is wether I get into watching the spin-off shows as well. Idk yet.

However, my biggest pet peeve is how Rick actually survived in a hospital for as long as he did without any food or fluids? Pretty sure he should’ve at least had a nasogastric tube or something? I could be wrong. But I guess that’s just being nitpicky with the show. I don’t recall it being mentioned how long he was actually asleep for, but for a worldwide pandemic to dismantle everything takes longer than a month. I mean we’re 2 years into a pandemic in real life… and there are still no zombies. It also wouldn’t make sense for the entire planet to simultaneously have the disease spread. Take covid for example, we saw it moving across the globe over a few months before most countries eventually went into their first lockdowns. As far as I can tell with this show, the entire world basically got overwhelmed with the disease at the exact same time.

I also didn’t like how soldiers just shot human nurses and doctors after lining them up, seems a bit too far. Maybe that’s me just being too emotional about it, I mean I know the reputation this show has. I know that I’m gonna see some pretty gruesome deaths.

Anyway I’m looking forward to continue watching this show, but it’s gonna take me a long time to catch up, especially if I get into the spin-offs too.

Excited to be part of this community.

Would Maggie view Carol differently if she saw the Whisperers?

Does anyone else think Maggie was unfair with Carol?

I totally forget which specific episode this was, but when Maggie finds out the reason Negan is just like free is bc Carol, she gets really mad. Which I totally understand but I think the fact that she wasn't there to see what the Whisperers did really skews her perception.... Carol lost her child to them which aside from the whole "happened in front of her" thing I'd argue that her son being decapitated is worse?

Do you guys think Maggie would react differently if she was there to see it herself?

Pope was the most useless villian I think I've ever seen on the walking dead, and I guarantee he is not the only villain in season 11

Pope has to have been one of if not the most USELESS addition to the walking dead season 11 conflict, literally the only person he killed was his own soldier. Plus bro only lasted 4 episodes before getting killed off, Pope could have had so much more potential but he was killed by Leah despite being new to the series. I do look forward to seeing how Leah as the new leader could cause some more trouble.

Dexter New Blood is back to the top quality of earlier seasons

This most recent episode (E06) was just so damn good, filled with endless memorable quotes, witty dialogue, dry humour, bleak darkness and more going on under the surface just like Dexter back at its glory days in Season 4.

Just wanted to let people know as I was hesitant at first as someone that really loved Dexter and was terribly disappointed by the later seasons, it's really back in top form. You can pretty much skip everything after S04 and go straight to New Blood, as all the references to earlier seasons are Trinity related, the writers are aware of what made the show great and it's really shining through.

Prolific author, Anne Rice, has died from a stroke, according to her son Christopher. She was 80.

"Dearest People of Page. This is Anne’s son Christopher and it breaks my heart to bring you this sad news. Earlier tonight, Anne passed away due to complications resulting from a stroke. She left us almost nineteen years to the day my father, her husband Stan, died. The immensity of our family’s grief cannot be overstated. As my mother, her support for me was unconditional — she taught me to embrace my dreams, reject conformity and challenge the dark voices of fear and self-doubt. As a writer, she taught me to defy genre boundaries and surrender to my obsessive passions. In her final hours, I sat beside her hospital bed in awe of her accomplishments and her courage, awash in memories of a life that took us from the fog laced hills of the San Francisco Bay Area to the magical streets of New Orleans to the twinkling vistas of Southern California. As she kissed Anne goodbye, her younger sister Karen said, "What a ride you took us on, kid." I think we can all agree. Let us take comfort in the shared hope that Anne is now experiencing firsthand the glorious answers to many great spiritual and cosmic questions, the quest for which defined her life and career. Throughout much of her final years, your contributions to this page brought her much joy, along with a profound sense of friendship and community. Anne will be interred in our family's mausoleum at Metairie Cemetery in New Orleans in a private ceremony. Next year, a celebration of her life will take place in New Orleans. This event will be open to the public and will invite the participation of her friends, readers and fans who brought her such joy and inspiration throughout her life."

Her book, "Interview with the Vampire," is slated to be adapted to television for AMC in 2022.

Hershal's belief

Ive had to mark this thread as a spoiler, but its about something from a really early season, so everybody should have seen it.

When Rick and co settle with living on Hershals farm land, they discover that Hershal is keeping the entire towns community as turned walkers in his barn.....why?, because he believed that a cure might be created to turn walkers back into sentient human beings.

Now, going by the narrative that the series have, everything we learnt medically and scientifically about walkers, Hershals belief is a flawed one and one that would not be possible.

Maybe it might have been possible to create a serum and inject it into a walker, where eventually it would have changed everything going in in their brain and made them a sentient human being again, like what Will Smith tried to create in I Am Legend, to turn vampiric monsters back into sentient human beings. But the problem is, mentally and psychologically they might have returned back to being a human being, but physically is where the problem lies.

In the rest of their body, a walker is nothing but dead rotting organic matter. A heart thats dead rotting and useless, lungs that are dead rotting and useless, a liver thats dead rotting and useless, a pancreas thats dead rotting and useless, kidneys that are dead rotting and useless. Where is Hershal gonna get all them so that the human being can live in their own body again?. Humans need more than a brain to live. If he used it on someone that had just turned into a walker, maybe feasible.

Maggie leaves for 6 years, comes back and acts like she never left and she’s still in charge of everyone.

THEN, negan leaves her to die in the horde on the train tracks and loses her shit on Negan. Then literally 30 seconds later, Gage is behind a door and needs help and she’s like “naw we can’t open a door for a second to let him in”. They honestly ruined her character and she’s just annoyed as hell at this point. Does anyone agree or am I just crazy?

First of all, the Night King doesn't say a single word in the entire series. Therefore we neither know his standpoint nor his arguments. Obviously the undead believe in him. Second, he brings life after death. Isn't that what mankind wanted for ages? At least there a clear potential for a billion dollar business modell. With that money he could have bought the Iron Bank and gain control over the Seven Kingdoms. Armies don't fight banks after all. I think all he really needed was a good PR-campaign.

[Spoilers] Coming back to the Riddle

Remember the riddle about the king, the priest and the rich man, each asking the sellsword to kill the other two? Varys solves it: Power resides where men (sellswords) believe it resides. Power is essentially a shadow on the wall, but shadows can kill and even small men can leave big shadows.

Here is how the story validates this conclusion:

Jamie kills a king, Cersei kills a priest, Tyrion kills "a rich man" and they all get away with it in the end. They don't face consequences. This supports the theory that there is more than one solution.

Jorah chooses to obey Daenerys instead of Viserys in S01E03. "A shadow" kills Renly. Cersei proves to Littlefinger with her guards that "power is power". The Hound says "f*** the king" and does his own thing. Tyrion offers Bronn to double the reward if he doesn't kill him. Bronn "bets on the dragons" in the final battle. Grey Worm waits for the new king to decide what happens with Jon.

The king has power, but staying in that position forever isn't guaranteed. The priest has the moral highground, but even beliefs can change. The rich man has gold, but there is no guarantee to keep it.

Kim Dickens (Madison Clark) is returning to Fear the Walking Dead in seasons 7 and 8

Source: Talking Dead (https://youtu.be/X_wFOaZU12g)

Kim Dickens is finally returning to Fear the Walking Dead as Madison Clark later in season seven, and she’ll be a series regular in season eight.

All I can say is it’s about time. I’m so happy she’s finally coming back. I hope she becomes a lead again, as she deserves. She should never have been removed from the show to begin with.

[Spoilers] Bran throughout the seasons ranked

  1. Season 2 - his storyline coinciding with Theon's was actually kinda fun (I don't know if that's a hot take or anything)and Osha was also kinda fun this season
  2. Season 4 his travels were kind of interesting and him being so close to Jon again was tragically humorous
  3. Season 1 - tower scenes with the maester were always kinda good and him literally becoming a little lord later was kinda cool
  4. Season 3 - Not bad, the feud between Osha and Meera was kinda promising yet underdeveloped, and the end with bran and Jon being oh so close was really good
  5. Season 5 - he was gone
  6. Season 6 him becoming the raven was really underwhelming but Hodor's death was really cool
  7. Season 7 - the less bran the better at this point and the only thing he does here is be a smartass and assure the viewers he's not going to have a good end to his arc
  8. Season 8 - utterly frustrating except for what he says to Theon

What’s a scene or line from a show that makes you laugh, without fail, just thinking of it?

For me, it’s in 30 Rock when they have to keep changing the name of the Janice Joplin biopic because they don’t have the rights, and they eventually end up with Jackie Jormp-Jomp. Every time I think of that name I laugh out loud.

Dany's fight was with Lannisters, so why would Starks take part in the later war ?

Seemed fair to me but Jon was already in love with Dany , so had to decline offer.

One Thing I Disagree With Rick On...

Rick was wrong for not telling the group that they were all infected. I'm not sure if this is an unpopular opinion, but I don't think he should have kept that from them. Even if he wasn't sure himself that what Jenner said was true, it was dangerous for the others to continue without that knowledge. Glenn and Daryl had a close call with Randall in the forest, though for all they know he could have been bit. I also think it was stupid for Rick to dismiss the idea himself, cause if Carl hadn't been there to shoot Shane, he too could have been killed. What do you think?

The most improved shows of the year

Basically shows that improved upon their last season which aired this years.

E.g. A show can go from bad to good (Arrow season 5) or good to great (Friends season 2)

My pick is Legend of Tomorrow. Season 6 was good, not the best but wow S7 has been incredible. The 100th episode was top 5 best of the show and the new characters (human Gideon and Gywn Davies) have been exciting. Also heard Doom Patrol was really good too

Sex Education. From 30mins to 1hr. S3 was fantastic and Ruby ×Otis was actually fun.

What are examples of the studio forcing a change into the show creators, that actually meaningfully improved the show?

As an example, It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia had low viewership in season 1, so FX gave the ultimatum of adding a bigger name to the cast (which they didn’t really want to do), or the show would be cancelled. The addition of Danny Devito famously improved IASIP to the point where a lot of people recommend starting the show where he comes in.

What are some other examples where the meddling of the studio was fruitful, rather than ruinous?

What is your favorite Christmas episode that you loved growing up and you will still watch today around the holidays?

I was watching some HBOMax and noticed that streaming finally tosses in TV episodes into their holiday collections so I watched a few from A Different World, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and the Nanny so far. Made me think of all those episodes from shows over the years because television almost always does a Christmas episode. Just was wondering which one from the many shows is your favorite to remember and rewatch?

I'll go first with a few I like to rewatch:
Saved by the Bell: A Home for Christmas
A Different World: For Whom the Jingle Bell Tolls
Roseanne: White Trash Christmas

Home Improvement: Twas the Blight Before Christmas
Friends: The One With the Holiday Armadillo
The Office: The Christmas Party

ER: A Miracle Happens Here

Doctor Who: The Christmas Invasion & A Christmas Carol

Shane's gets all this love and I don't understand why.

I still see to this day people fantasizing what could have been with Shane. I see people blame Lori fo Shane's downfall. The truth is Shane was doomed from the start with his impulsive decisions and immediate need for gratification.

Sure Shane knew ahead of time that brutality was required to survive but it's not just brutality. And sure we love to see Rick have his violent moments and cheer him on, saying Shane was right all along. But Rick deserves his flowers, he would have been brutal with or without shane.

Rick always knew that was required because he made those decisions when Shane was alive, he killed the two men in the Nebraska episode. That's what stood out to me as Rick always being the better man than shane ever could be, he tried his best but he could never live up to what Rick Grimes was.

Speaking of the Nebraska episode, this is a key part imo showing why Rick and Shane were opposites in what it means to be a real man and leader. Rick of course cared about Lori and Carl. But unlike Shane they weren't the only ones he cared about. If Rick went the same route as Shane, Carl would have had a shorter life.

Rick risked his life to save hershel early on. Shane had no interest but Rick knew Hershel was a vital part in their survival. Rick risked his life for very important members in the group- Carol. Darryl, michonne, hershel, Maggie, Glenn and so on- who would give him the same sacrifice he made for the group and protect Carl like he was their own son because of the humanity and interegrity that saw in Rick. Rick knew the key to survive he knew before anyone in the first group knew. He was 10 steps ahead.

It's not just brutality that's required to survive. The key is people. Something Shane did not grasp and that's what took his life.

I believe Rick would have found a way out of that school with Otis still alive. It's strange people can't see this and blame Lori for Shane's downfall, as some fans call it, simp moves.

A good leader is as good as his comrades. The show has a theme with showing leaders who fail at havING that trust and strength in a team. We see it with the governor and his selfish deserves and controlling behavior that caused the fall of woodbury. We see it with Negan and how he leads by fear..

Rick leads by training the members in his group to be just as capable and willing to save each other. He risks his life for everyone and they would do the same for him in a heartbeat. Shane could never build what rick did at the prison and alexandria. The group would have broken up and Lori and Carl would be in even more danger. It takes a village.

Tldr: I'm sick of people blaming Lori for Shane's flaws and never getting Rick the credit he deserves as a leader. Shane was trash. The end.

Lori Grimes gets too much shit from fans - she was the most realistically portrayed character in the series

Rewatching from the beginning and Idky I hated Lori when I was younger. I think my love for Shane is where my hatred for Lori came from but as an adult I find Lori Grimes to be one of the best portrayed characters from the comics.

Sarah Wayne Callies portrayed Lori so realistically you really felt she was mourning the loss of her husband in season 1 and the struggles she was facing in season 2-3A.

[SPOILERS] Problems with ADWD last John chapter

I think Jon's last chapter in this book is somewhat hastily written at the last part.

John reads Ramsay's letter to Tormund and Tormund asks who was it they burned if not Mance? So, the letter is a bomb for all, mostly for the free folk. But when John reads it to all in the big hall nobody asks about Mance or Mance's plan or the 6 spearwives.

And it's kinda unrealistic that John gets angry and decides to go to Winterfell alone after reading the letter. What was he going to do? Ramsay wants to cut out John's heart and John gets triggered by that and journeys south? They all knew about Ramsay and his deeds, making cloaks out of women's skins is his daily routine.

And when he was getting stabbed. Horse and Rory, two supposed friends were coming after John. Why didnt they stop the attackers, why didnt the giant stop them?

I dont know, maybe grrm was tired at that point and somebody else finished the chapter.

[SPOILERS] Giants (minor rant)

I'm rewatching the series. I didn't notice it the first time around but now I can't help to ask why these dudes didn't carry weapons. A sword or club proportionate to their size would have done a massive amount of damage to the enemies. At the battle of the bastards for example, the lone giant could have cleared the infantry very easily if he swung his weapon all over the place. But instead they prefer to slap people around or spend like a minute ripping a bad guy in half. Idk. I think the mountain could take these guys down one on one.

What if the show had a different format?

What I mean is.

Imagine if the episodes were 1 hour long and instead of 16 we got 10 or 6 a season.

I mean there are only 193 issues which are all around 25 pages right? If 20 minute animated shows can adapt up to 3 issues sometimes, why can't the walking dead adapt up to 4 or 5 per episode?

Sure there would be slow episodes to build character, but that is still nowhere near 177 episodes. I think with only 66 to 90 episodes the show would be excellent.

What do you guys think?

[SPOILERS] It's not a Democracy

Since this is a theory I mark it as a spoiler. Anyways, here we go: Do you remember the final voting where Sam stands up, suggests democracy and gets laughed at? That is the ending of the show in a nutshell. Not the audience decides who gets on the Iron Throne, the authors do. Even if their decision is obviously terrible, the audience, representing "the common people" in the Seven Kingsdoms, has to swallow it, because "they don't get to choose" (oops, there is another hint).

My theory is that the ending is bad because it is supposed to be bad. It's the only way to get this important message through. So if you and me want someone else to rule, we better live in a democracy. And that's what basically the whole show is all about, it's an advertisement for feminism and democracy. And of course nobody wants to live under fascism, that's why our beloved Daenerys gets killed shortly after delivering her Adolf-speech. I think they got that message through as well.

Even though I hate it with a passion, I truely believe that the ending is actually brilliant.

Just finished Buffy the Vampire Slayer S2 for the first time. 44 year old man here and I’m tearing the hell up.

It got to me at the end when seeing Sara Michelle Gellar’s crumpled face when Sarah goddamn McLachlan kicks in. I get why this show was so popular. Such a great mix of action, drama and comedy. No weak characters and wonderful villains. Can’t wait for S3 and meet the Mayor! Does the quality of the show hold up for 7 seasons?

I got to Season 7 and haven’t stopped watching.

I knew what was coming at the first episode of that season as I had it spoiled for me before I even watched.

But I’m watching this show for the first time and have been unable to stop and finding out that viewership dropped 5 million after that episode came out and never has recovered since is baffling to me.

I’m half expecting for something else to come up that people didn’t like about the season that kept people from watching but damn I love the direction of everything so far.

Sure it’s brutal and emotionally taxing but damn it’s good. Just when I think the show has delivered everything t can it throws more at me and I’m loving it.

[Spoilers]Just Read the chapter 51 of ASoS and a few chapters following it and watched the scene on YT

All I have to say is

Fuck

I had this spoiled for me , knew that robb was going to die and that some northmen turn on him

(though I didn't know it was bolton) , the people around me were shouting while I was reading (which is very annoying and distracting and i'm still a bit peeved)the line where roose stabbed robb in the heart and yet this chapter hit me like a fucking truck

The massacre in itself was gruesome but there were 3 main things which pushed this to the edge for me

1.The fact that the Musicians began to play the "Rains of Castamere" was bone chilling , especially when I heard the tune later

2.The fact that Catelyn died while she believed that all her children was lost to her and Robb was stabbed right in front of her finally broke her, we've seen her handle grief over and over but when she laughed and started ripping her own face that really did it for me

  1. Robb's death deserves its own paragraph truth be told, the fact that his last word were "jeyne?" as if he forgot who that was and instead called out to the two people who he believed and relied on the most "mother ,Grey Wind..." was really heartbreaking

That would have been that but the thing that is still in my memory is the desecration of his body were they cut his head and place the direwolf with the crown and parade it and mocking him was too much, the show also shows this wonderfully and these images I found online hurt me physically

https://preview.redd.it/y4ii4bgfz5381.png?width=1280&format=png&auto=webp&s=b341336a81369fb30b258358da20ea335442e8cd

There was another sad pic but I cant seem to find it where he's on a throne

Thank you if read so far and I really hope he gets avenged in the future

[NO SPOILERS] Any trumpets in GoT?

Hello people of the Game of Thrones subreddit! I need some help for a project I'm working on and would love to tap into your (undoubtedly extensive) knowledge of the show. Question being: Are there any scenes in the show containing trumpets or horns?

I'm thinking perhaps at the start of a battle. Or maybe to announce the arrival of an important person. Perhaps in celebration of a wedding or coronation. Or maybe at the start of a hunt. Anything really! I just want to find those instruments raised into the air and blown into.

Does anything like that exist? Any pointers would be much appreciated. Thank you!

I liked Cowboy Bebop (2021)

I think the show did okay for a first season. Spike and Jet were played excellently, Faye needs a bit more but has potential and Ed is getting way too much shit for what is a 10 second tease for a second season.

I wasn’t too big on the Vicious and Julia plot line but I think if the writers take onboard actual criticism and feedback for a second season this might go down as one of the better anime adaptations we’ve had.

I think the idea of taking main characters from an anime and keeping them accurate while changing the plot line around them is a good approach. If Death Note had done the same it might have been more positively received.

This is going to be a show that die hard fans were always set to hate but I know I’ll always have the anime to enjoy and I’m in the middle of rewatching it as we speak.

[No Spoilers] Dunk & Egg show isn't gonna work out

Several reasons:

  1. It's NOT Game of Thrones, and apart from the fact it's set in the same world, it has absolutely nothing in common with it. Unlike the "Dance of the Dragons" it doesn't have an abundance of characters, each with their own plots, interests, intrigues, betrayals etc... Let alone blood, gore, violence and sex GoT fans would expect. It's pretty much a light themed set of knightly tales for children.
  2. As a light themed set of knightly tales, it's story and characters also have no depth, and could easily fit into Disney. For example, Dunk could easily fit into a Disney hero, Egg into his Disney helper, and Aerion into a Disney villain.
  3. It doesn't have enough source material, or dare I say at all. All three novellas could easily fit into a 1 or 1,5 hour episodes, and that would pretty much leave the show out of written material. I know more novellas are still coming, novellas are on their way, they're gonna be amazing, we won't believe it..... but yeah.....

(World Beyond finale spoilers) New variant theory

In the post credit scene, after that woman was shot. Notice how she was running aggressively towards the gate when there wasn't even a little bit of noise coming from their, it looked like she was looking for something. u/babaner1 pointed out in a comment that since France was the last one standing, they might have developed a cure which backfired.

To add more logic in that theory, those might not be walkers. Because of the way the walker charged towards the gate seemed like she wanted to kill that guy, That 'variant' might be just people who come back after being dead but they have all their memories and abilites but are crazy and will start decaying even slower than the walkers in US.

They seem alot like The Last of Us zombies where they beat you instead of straight away trying to bite you and can be shot anywhere and will die. People were saying they were like the zombies from '28 days Later' but I don't know, I haven't watched it.

Ok so when Arya is given her second chance to kill the actress she ask hagen if she can use one of the faces. He tells her she's not ready and her ask to me means can you teach how to do the face/off thing yet? So, how did she use a face to kill Meryn Trant in the brothel. She was never taught how to use the face and I thought there was more to it than just grabbing on of the faces and slapping on. I thought there was some kind of magic or technique at the least or am I wrong and that's basically the faces put on the wall are all ready magic. If this is true how did she latter use wallet face. I though she was taught how to use the faces after she returned from killing the waif. It really can't be as simple as cutting someone's face off and anyone can do it.

[SPOILERS] I need help understanding Bran's arc?

I understand the final arcs for almost all characters, except Bran's.

I understand Dany's downfall, but there was no buildup for it! Would have definitely made more sense and had been great if more time was spent explaining her downward spiral.

I understand Jon's "I don't want it" and begrudgingly having to be Night's Watch Lord Commander and King in the North. Expectations were subverted almost effectively by actually granting him his wish and not giving him the thing he did not want. (Still dumb since only Grey Worm wanted him dead and he went away almost immediately).

I understand Jaime's return to Cersei. It was disappointing after all that character development, but still it is understandable in a twisted way that he was still in love with her.

I understand the Stark family splitting up and having their own adventures. They were split up during the majority of the series anyways, they grew apart from each other.

I do not understand Bran's arc. What is the point of him being the three-eyed raven? I guess it is cool for him to see the past and future and reveal that R+L=J. But why did the Night King come after Bran specifically? He seemed to outlive his usefulness to the plot once the Night King is defeated. Maybe he could have been a very valuable advisor, but instead he's made king? An emotionless teen who seems to barely want to be involved in human affairs (reminded me of Watchmen's Dr. Manhattan) got selected to be king?

Is it better explained in the books?

The Walking Dead 5A Rewatch review

What I liked: - the compact terminus arc was truly excellent. Started great and ended even better. - I liked parts of the hospital arc (Beth v Dawn was really interesting) - I loved the on the road stuff with GREATM and the cinematic shots in those sections were phenomenal - Music, direction, lighting excellent as usual - Mostly good dialogue and a lot of great character dynamics came out of this season - So many characters peaked in this half season and next.

What I didn’t like: - Beth’s death. Had some really great development for it to be thrown away for shock. Really shitty death as well. - Didn’t mind the hospital arc but not great - Aside from the huge fuck up that happened at the end of episode 8, I don’t have many complaints - Some of Tyreese’s dialogue in episode 7 was atrocious. All of his chat about vibes and flowing with it seemed really weird

Favourite moment: - Eugene admits he’s not a scientist

Best scene: - the church scene (the termite slaughter)

Best dynamics:
- GREATM as a whole but specifically Eugene + Tara, Carol + Daryl

Favourite characters: - Beth (easily my favourite this half) Tara, Abraham, Rick, Glenn and Maggie

Least favourite characters - Officer Gorman

[Theory] The Virus was not Created in Laboratory

I've been thinking here, I put the pieces together and I have an explanation that makes total sense:

The Virus was not created by man, it came from space, in the Flashback scene from the first season of World Beyond it shows the marines talking to each other, going something like this "I heard it came back on a rocket, that it started in space. Somebody breathed it in, it turned their stomachs, and then they got on a plane..."

The French were the first to start studying the virus, I believe that was when Wildfire was declared

If things started in France, the Rocket couldn't be from NASA, but from the European Space Agency, and their headquarters it's in... PARIS, FRANCE

Anyone know why Daryl walks/stands the way he does?

I've always noticed Daryl walking with what appears to be a limp and always standing sort of sideways? I'm not sure how to describe it but I'm sure y'all have noticed it.

[SPOILERS] The Night’s Watch is actually terrifying?

I’ve seen the whole show, but I’m still on the third book. I lost interest in reading for a little while but I recently picked it back up. I just finished the chapter where TNW is at their final night at Craster’s, and a few men kill Craster and Mormont. As I was reading, I realized just how terrified I would be if I were Sam. Someone who is already not a leader at all, in the middle of these freezing cold, dead-people infested woods past any safety he’s ever known (the wall), and now he has to fend for himself. It just really put into perspective how terrifying it would be to have the one sure thing you’ve known, the command and authority you have found a “family” in, to - in an instant for him - be turned into a bloodbath. Also, I feel like the show makes it feel like Craster and the Wall are super close, but in the book I really get a sense of how far everything is. It’s just crazy to me.

Just a thought.

[SPOILERS] The Long Night is shit

- The dothraki :

This is stupid at all levels. First, they send them into complete darkness against an army than jon snow knows that is about 100.00, an army that doesn't stop and doesn't tire. Then, they were sending them against the army of the dead without any weapons that could kill them, yes , the dothraki didnt had any dragonsteel weapons. Clearly, melissandre lighting their weapons and them charging was all done to be a pretty image. You can say that the dothraki charging at their enemy is what they do, but this isnt any normal army like i said. What were they expecting to happen?

- Editing and Plot Armour :

Editing was shit. I lost count how many times i saww characters like Brienne, Pod and Jaime swarmed by wights, then cut to other shot, come back to the character that was surronded by wights just for the character to be fine. I dont know how people say they were on the edge of their seat the entire episode, dreading with tension, with editing as bad as this, after it happened 2 or 3 times with different characters i just lost it all.

- The Night King death :

This is probably the worst of all. Arya killing the Night King makes no sense if you look at the previous seven seasons. She didnt even knew he existed until season seven! Bran and Jon were the ones who were always envolved with the Night King storyline! Why does Arya get to kill him? I would be pretty pissed too if it was Jon killing Ramsay instead of Sansa, or if it was Jon avenging his family instead of Arya, because those storylines belong to Sansa and Arya, respectively. People say that she was the only one who could sneak on the Night King but why does he have to die with a dagger or a sword thru the chest? Bran is the 3 eyed raven, the archenemy of the Night King, couldnt the writers do something else with it?

I also hated that when the Night King died every wight and white walker died too. This is the type of shit that happens in the marvel movies, which actually happened in the first avengers movie. This isnt original at all and its a cheap way to finish the episode.

- General Problems :

  • Bran did nothing in this episode, what the fuck was he doing when he warged into the crows?
  • The wight dragon can destroy the wall, he also saw him destroy a castle wall in this episode, but
he can't destroy the rock jon is hiding behind?
  • Why didnt arya turned into a wight when the Night King touched her?
  • Character deaths; seems pretty unrealistic that so few named characters died but oh well, kinda disappoiting, i was expecting that in the big battle of the show more main characters would die, instead of mostly secondary characters. Especially when most main characters were in the front lines.
  • Lighting was shit, couldnt see shit when i watched it live.

Whats the point of having a huge budget for writing this shit? Blackwater was a much better episode than this shit with a much smaller budget.
