[SPOILERS] My problem with Daenerys

It has probably been discussed dozens of times already, so as many can agree, her burning down King's Landing was completely out of character for her.

Apparently all the stress and pressure she had been though, and the sight of the Red Keep, make her snap. But shouldn't it make her snap before, not after the city surrendered? Most people would at least relish a little in the taste of victory and triumph. But she didn't lose her temper before after she won.

But she could still be excused for wanting to release some steam. We have all been there at least once in our lifetime when we just want to toss a chair through the window (even if most don't fulfill their fantasy), or perhaps smash a vase by throwing it at the wall. After that little outburst, we are able to calm down again.

This is not what Daenerys did. After she had burned down the castle, she attacked the city. Hour after hour after hour, while she targeted innocent people in an attempt to kill them all. There was no logical reason for doing it, she was being controlled by her emotions. Yet all her rage and anger should have been satisfied a long time ago by then.

And then, when the whole place had burned down to the ground, she didn't even regret what she had done. On the contrary, she was willing to do it again. Neither was she able to see what was wrong about it. As if her personality had changed from one day to the next.

There is this thing called character development, where a character is gradually changing through the seasons. But they don't change completely just like that, where they contradict who they used to be, and one get the feeling that all their personal growth was all for nothing. It's like seeing Clark Kent slowly and gradually turning into Superman, and then suddenly, at the end, he changes into Mr. Hyde for no reason.

Just my thoughts about the topic.
