I know season 8 was bad. You know it was bad. Everyone know it was bad. However, I’m tired of having to hear “Season 8 ruined it tho” whenever AGOT is mentioned in any context. It’s one of the greatest pieces of television ever made, and, like any piece of artwork ever, is severely flawed, though that shouldn’t mean that a “BUT” has to be said after any praise is given towards it.
More importantly, ASOAIF is affected by this too. GRRM is unlikely to ever finish the series, in part due to the consequences that he fears would come with the ending. Obviously that’s a problem with most long lasting series, but the constant hate brought to AGOT by its ending has increased people’s expectations of GRRMs ending, making his task quite nearly impossible, so I doubt he’d be willing to NOT leave it up to interpretation.
Point is, I think season 8 slander has been slowly degrading the whole world of ice fire franchise and people should, quite frankly, get over it. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this.
