Who else thought that something would come of Rosita and Daryl, in S6E14-S7E01?

They were together more and interacted with eachother a lot more and were caring for eachother more in these 4 episodes, these interactions started not even 2 episodes after Abraham broke up with Rosita. For example: Daryl got mad and punched Negan when he was taunting and yelling at Rosita. I feel like this is a thing the writers were going to do but decided to scrap it after Daryl was taken.

Yellowstone is a great deconstruction of western villains.

So imagine this is the synopsis for a movie:

You're introduced to a cowboy by the name of Walker. Bit of a loner (as the name would suggest). Walker is a white hat singing cowboy with his guitar, his passion for taming horses, and his desire to find redemption for accidentally killing a man in a fight years ago. When he gets out of jail he's offered a second chance by a guy called Rip, an imposing cowboy dressed all in Black who's the foreman for a big ranch. Walker takes the opportunity, only to discover that the ranch is ran by a powerful and utterly corrupt cattle baron, and with Rip as his ruthless henchman. Refusing to break the law for his new employer, Walker soon finds himself at odds with powerful enemies.

This reads like a classic western doesn't it? Something out of Bonanza or a John Ford Movie. Walker is straight up a White Hat like Tom Mix and a Gene Altry "Singing Cowboy", Rip is the classic Blackhat stone cold killer we see from the 20s all the way to Angel Eyes in "The Good the Bad and the Ugly" and beyond, and the corrupt and greedy landowner is a villain as old as the genre itself. But here's the thing, Walker is just a minor side character. Rip, John Dutton (the cattle Baron) and his children are the protagonists of Yellowstone.

Now I know that amoral, anti-heroes (or even villains) as protagonists is nothing new, from Walter White to Tony Soprano to absolutely what have you. And this is not to say as if the characters opposite to the Duttons are good people (there are very few "players" in Yellowstone who you would call good people) or even better than the family. But in Yellowstone, the Dutton family aren't just villains, they're embodiments of Western Villain tropes.

John Dutton, the ruthless Cattle Baron who literally branded his son with a hot iron when he rebelled in his teenage years. The owner of the largest ranch in the State and seeking to control the political machine of the state to preserve his wealth.

Rip Wheeler, the aforementioned BlackHat Gunslinger, who frequently murders for his boss, and intimidates those who would get in their way. A brute and a thug.

Jamie Dutton is the weak-willed scheming son/corrupt politician who does his father's bidding. As its often the case in westerns, the son of the big bad is kind of a weakling who wants to prove himself and get his father's approval. He's also a skilled lawyer who uses the law to ensure the Dutton family comes out on top.

Beth Dutton: The utterly monstrous, psychologically traumatized daughter of John Dutton which serves as the greedy businessman (woman) trope. While John Dutton is preocupied with preserving his ranch, Beth is concerned with expanding it. Her regular job is finding companies, wrecking them financially and buying the remains, and she does the same with land for her father. There's a sleazy businessman from California who shows up in Montana trying to set up a housing development and she fucks with his life so thoroughly for so very little you end up sympathizing with the guy.

Kayce, the younger son and the exception to the "villains" trope. He's the classical Redemption case of the son that ran away from his evil father and walks the line between good and evil trying to redeem himself.

TL:DR = The Dutton family in Yellowstone is like if you took the evil antagonists of a classic western and made a tv show about them. Almost each member of the family represents a classic "evil western trope" we saw in tv shows and movies of the past, from the blackhat gunslinger, to the cattle baron, to the greedy businessman and corrupt politician.

[SPOILERS] Watching the show with my mother.

(Yes, it has been awkward at times.)

We try to watch an episode each night and are almost at the end of season 3. I've read the books so I know most of what's happening and I love seeing her responses to everything. She was very shocked at Ned's death and keeps asking "when is Sean Bean coming back?" Also, she's now a hardcore Brienne and Jaime shipper which is so funny. If I ask who her favorite character is she says "Clarisse", no matter how many times I explain that "Khaleesi" isn't her actual name.

It's been a really great bonding experience cause I finally have someone to talk to it about, (no one my age is into it.)

Tonight's episode is "The Rains of Castamere", I cannot wait to see her reaction. She has no idea.

[SPOILERS] The show gets a lot of casting right, but it is kinda annoying that they dropped the ball on Loras and Renly.

Be it intentionally or not. Some of the casting makes characters even better than they were in the books, but Renly... what was up with that foppish portrayal. In the books they kept describing him as the spitting image of young Robert, so I thought we'd get a tall and strong young man, who just happens to be gay (which they beat you over the head with in the show) and is also a little cocky. A "summer knight" as Cat put it, men who have never seen a harsh winter and are overly self-assured. Which is why it was so shocking (at least to me) when he gets killed off so easily when it seemed like he could easily take care off the lannisters.

And then there's Loras, who is an ambitious knight dreaming of glory, talented and cocky like a young jaime, but again just so happens to be gay. We last see him having been gravely injured after taking over Dragonstone in a glorious battle. Meanwhile in the show, there was that ridiculous plot with the high septon and him being a weakling damsel in distress who gets captured and his face scarred with the 7-pointed star... what even was that plot line. Edit: Oh and the only time we see any display of skill or fighting from him, is when we see him get his ass beat by brienne... who is already a badass but it doesn't mean anything if we don't see loras excel in swordfighting at any other point. Makes him worse than a jobber.

They just portray them as weak and effeminate and while it's true that Renly doesn't have much of a role anyhow seeing as he's killed off so early in the story, it doesn't excuse such a decision to have him be portrayed as such.

Always been curious about that decision and wondering if the showrunners have discussed it

I love these solutions, because they were carefully prepared for a long time and yet they came as a total surprise. It is 100% clear that this wasn't just a fluke, some sort of random cool idea that popped up during writing these episodes. Unfortunately the story didn't continue on such a high level, maybe because from a certain point on they did not construct it backwards like that anymore.

[SPOILERS] A new theory on why Syrio Forel and Jaqen H'gar were in King's Landing

One of the most popular theories in ASOIAF and GOT is that two Bravosis, Syrio and Jaqen are actually the same person but I think it makes more sense that Jaqen H'gar, the assassin, was sent to kill Syrio Forel instead.

1) Why was Syrio Forel, the First Sword of Bravos, in King's Landing in the first place?

A few of the most popular fan theories and conjectures was the fact that he was either retired (which he probably was) or sent by the Sealord of Bravos as an envoy to Westeros. However, another reason would be that he left Bravos because he was afraid of something, perhaps retribution for a crime he committed to the Sealord or to another Bravosi citizen. Perhaps he ran away from his duties or failed to enact one of the Sealord's orders. In any case, that would warrant a punishment.

2) How did Meryn "Fucking" Trant, killed Syrio Forel, the reputed First Sword of Bravos?

Even without the sword, you would think that Syrio Forel would have enough skills to dance around and dodge a few of Meryn's swings long enough for Arya to escape and do the same. As even the Hound jested that three Meryn Trants would got their ass handed down to them by an untrained boy with a stick. While that maybe a joke, it seems that by that statement alone, Syrio Forel could've escaped him and and his men or at least manage to kill/wound him before dying. But as we know, Meryn and his men managed to kill him and be relatively unscathed.

3) What was Jaqen H'gar doing in King's Landing?

Clearly as a Faceless Man, he was sent there to kill someone. While its quite possible that he was after some of the nobility or the King Robert, it also doesn't entail who could pay a high enough price for a Faceless Man to kill a monarch like Robert, as it was even stated that killing someone like Daenerys would cost more than the price to raise an army.

It seems plausible that the only other Bravosi in King's Landing would be his target as no other important men, except Robert (who died by Cersei and Lancel's machinations) have died in a way that would be concurrent with the Faceless Men's modus operandi. Also none of the other deaths have been shown to be hard enough that someone would pay the exorbitant amount that the Faceless Men charge for assassination. It seems plausible that Faceless Man would be sent for Syrio Forel and Jaqen took advantage of the chaos within Eddard's imprisonment and execution to finally catch and kill the First Sword of Bravos in a situation where he was unarmed and busy protecting someone else while wearing Meryn Trant's face, which afforded him easy access to the entirety of King's Landing.

[SPOILERS] Who is Benjen Stark and what is the point of his existence in the story?

Recently finished the show but I’m confused on the benjen stark character, he shows up for some reason in I think season 6 to save bran and then saves Jon Snow in season 7 because why exactly? Is he following the white walkers for some reason. Why is he in the north in the first place. I know he’s part of the stark family so is he like a brother to Ned. What is his role in the story like at all? I was expecting something about Benjen Stark in the final season but there was nothing. I’m genuinely confused he feels like a character that was from deleted scenes but is in the show for some reason just to provide plot armor for the characters.

I'm binge-watching House seasons again and I have to say Idk if it's because I'm older, but the character House is really unlikeable to the point where the stuff I thought was charming or funny when I was younger is just flat out reprehensible.

The Foreman episode with his brother to me is one of the examples where House is just absolutely out of line to the point where it's like wtf is wrong with this guy. There's being a dick and there's intentionally trying to hurt the feelings of your employee and throw a wrench into his relationship with his brother.

What.the.fuck?.

This episode scared the crap out of me! They did a really great job in making this short little haunted house epusode. The cannibals that lured them to the house is just genius.

One thing I don't understand though is Connie went deaf right? So she can still talk and use her voice she just can't hear anything from my understanding. So when she was trying to get the guy's attention in the house why couldnt she just use her voice?

Edit: okay i now know connie is mute. I thought because her sister is going deaf the same thing happened to connie.

Peacemaker is just a really fun TV show

This has been a pleasant surprise of a show for me. It wasn't really on my radar, but I'm enjoying the heck out of it. Great cast chemistry mixed with good writing from Gunn and a really strong lead performance from Cena has mixed together perfectly for a really fun show. This is easily Cena's greatest performance and Vigilante has been really great as well.

NewsRadio is Such a Forgotten Gem

I was going through my old boxes while snowed in, and I found my NewsRadio DVD's, and I forgot how hilarious it is. The first couple seasons are pretty generic, but still fun, but it really hits it's stride in season 3. More specifically, the episode Day Dream. It really leans into the absurdity and plays to the comedic strengths of this ensemble. A lot of the comedy after that episode is clearly based off this episode.

And it kills me that Maura Tierney sticks to drama these days because she is so freaking hilarious.

And, of course, Phil Hartman is, and always will be, missed.

Upon Rewatch, T-Dog was really cool...

On my first watch through the series I didn't notice him much, but now I'm rewatching and on S2 E4 "Killer Within" I'm really sad to see him go. I know he wasn't a major character, but I enjoyed him a lot. He was just a cool character to have around. At least he saved Carol though! Rest in peace, T.

[Spoilers] The most underrated character in the show is probably Varys

In my opinion, Varys is probably the most underrated character in the show. As a character that is both intelligent and politically skilled, he is also a character that, unless Littlefinger whom often has malevolent motivations, has motivations that are more altruistic and beneficial to others. He is a key ally to both Daenarys and Tyrion and helps save the latter from execution, and councils Dany to take a less violent approach to conquering Westeros as to limit the damage done to the people of Westeros. I understand when fans say his motivations are clearer in the books, but I think that the show does a great job of portraying Varys as a character who wants peace and stability as well as being able to benefit politically and economically from it as well. He also tries to help Ned Stark as best he could and in trying to stop as civil war, and though that doesn't work out, he definitely did his best. Finally, he is a eunuch with a tragic backstory, and viewers have numerous reasons to empathize and side with him. That and his death in the final season was infuriating as was dozens of other events in that season.

[SPOILERS] Meera's departure (plus a question because I don't have the series available right now)

Bran and Meera's final conversation was brutal, imo, and I like it because it feels raw and real, especially on Meera's part. Instead of bowing to an attitude of "Bran is the 3ER and can't be expected to care about anything besides world-altering situations now," she was hurt that Bran didn't seem to care, after everything they'd been through, that she was leaving. She reminds him "Summer died for you. Hodor died for you." I have two questions:

First, am I forgetting anything from this scene?

And second, does anyone else think it's possible that Meera remains bitter over this treatment? And even when she learns that Bran is king, and assumes that this was part of the reason she and Jojen had to risk their lives to help him, she still harbors resentment and toys with the idea of exacting some sort of (non-fatal) revenge? I could see her, of all people in Westeros, having a unique pov of Bran the Broken. I know I'll never see this on screen or in books, and that's why I think I return to the idea so often. [Spoilers] When things went south for Daenerys

If you rewatch the show many small details that you overlooked at first gain significance later on. One detail is the role of Ser Barristan. While I initially thought that he was just a side-character who made a somewhat short and insignificant appearance, in hindsight he was her best advisor and he was able to convince her. Once he was gone, his voice of reason was also gone and it clearly showed.

Here is an example for the opposite: Olenna also gave advice. It's exactly what caused the downfall. Notice that Barristan was one of these so called "clever men", while Olenna was in fact a conspirator and a poisoner. Things similar to The Walking Dead?

Any recommendations? The apocalyptic genre is by far my favorite for stories but so many seem to have either crazy supernatural type zombies (more so than regular zombies, like flying and shit) or are more based around a unrealistic badass trying to find a cure. As opposed to just trying to survive and adapt to the brutal new world. TWD would've been the absolute perfect piece of media for me if they didn't Nerf the walkers and actually had a firearms expert on set lol.

Seasons 1-5 are what I like the best and for the most part do prefer the comics as far as the plot goes. I've seen all the well known things from 28 days, to zombieland.

Doesn't have to be zombies necessarily as long as it fits the apocalypse/survival genre.

Lori's reaction towards Rick at the end of the second season

Hello all!

At the end of episode 9 of "Triggerfinger," Lori asks Rick, "You killed the living to protect what's yours?" He clearly then agreed, and Lori then put the idea into Rick's head that he should kill Shane for thinking that she and the baby were his.

At the end of the season, Rick reveals to Lori that he killed Shane in the episode because he led Rick out there just to kill him. As soon as Lori hears this, she acts completely devastated and hurtful towards Rick, and it all comes to a head when Rick claims that Carl put him down after he came back.

Lori acts completely unreasonable when Rick tries to be honest with her. After all, all of this leads to a big split in Rick and Lori's marriage, as we see at the start of season 3. Lori has been moving on, but Rick has turned completely cold towards her because of her actions.

Can anyone explain why Lori reacted the way she did and why Rick didn't care about her as he used to in SEASON 1 and 2?

[SPOILERS] I have never seen a better antagonist before - Cersei Lannister

So i just got done with watching 6x10 and this episode was amazing, and Cersei really amazed me here.

I struggle to like Cersei’s actions and sometimes i think she’s a misundersood character, sometimes i hate her and other times i like her. But when she killed all of these people in this episode with the wildfire i could not not help rooting for her because i was not expecting it at ALL. Love or hate her, i find that some of the best lines in the show come from her, and her actor does an amazing job and i don’t find her cartoonishly evil like a lot of other villains are on tv. I hate to say it, but as much as i dislike her actions i’m sort of rooting for her with how she always succeed no matter what.

What do other people generally think of her character? Is she a good villain?

(Also, please don’t spoil the future seasons for me)

Currently listening to the audiobooks and every time the reader pauses for a chapter break I pray the next word he says is “Arya” or “Tyrion” and not “Sansa.” Obviously it depends on the point in the books but some characters chapters are just consistently much more intriguing. The Leftovers - 5 years later and I have yet to fill the void

Snowpiercer, I’ve never watched a show that went from so good to so bad, so fast

Recently I started watching Snowpiercer, I really enjoyed the Movie and had nothing else to watch so I figured, why not.

I was hooked, the acting performances didn’t feel campy or phoned in, the casting felt right, and the show had a pretty good dark side to it. Its adaptation of the story didn’t feel too far fetched, and it took some risks in what twists and turns it could take.

Overall it was really enjoyable. I had no idea how they could stretch it out for multiple season, and was incredibly surprised by the pace the show was taking. But it didn’t feel rushed, it just never had you sitting for too long on pointless exposition.

Then it got to episode 9. Clearly the writers had no idea where to go with the show. I’ve watched the next three episodes and just, don’t even know if I want to watch anymore. I’ve never seen a show hit so many notes so well, then just fall flat because the story ran out of runway.

I’m trying to avoid spoilers here but how do you have so many things come to light so early in a show and expect it to continue after episode 9? Now everything feels tacked on and just reaching.

Is it even worth continuing?

Have you ever noticed that a lot of the time, people walking near a road or woods there are Zero walkers within sight? Then IF a character falls or gets hurt, all of a sudden there are not 1 or 2 or even 5 walkers show up, Suddenly there are 15 or 20 Right there!

I love British TV series but it took me en embarrassing long time and subtitles to figure out that they don't call older woman" Mom " and the word was Ma'am all along.

English isn't my native language (not even my second language).But I do love to watch british series in english and if available with subtitles(not often the case somehow). Imagine my confusion when a unrelated looking 30 year old calls the older women character Mom. Because it didn't happen to often on my viewings (maybe Ma'am isn't that common) I was confused but I put it always aside as me being not attentive enough. Only with the magic of subtitles was I able to understand how much of an moron I was.

A wild shane

I always imagined an alternate universe where Rick and the group had Shane locked in a cage that they would drive him about in whenever there was a fight. They would show up to Woodbury and just release him to kill them all like a gorilla on steroids. He would just kill everybody insight and would have to be lured back in the cage by Judith. When Negan is about to kill Glen. SURPRISE. And Shane with his shotgun runs out of the forest killing everyone, baby Judith has to calm him down (sort of like black widow and the hulk)

I just realized Pluto TV has the original Japanese Iron Chef. I've been binging for days. So much more talent than the American version. The American version was such a let down.

Finally get to watch the real Iron Chef again. The American version just seemed so cheesey and watered down. The dishes were like "I put truffles on chicken" "Salmon with an egg on it". Japanese version they are literally inventing new dishes and techniques right before your eyes. It's not just "I took a few things and put them together and they taste good" they really showcase the chefs technical skills and creativity. The presentation is on another level and I just love the dubbing. The people really enjoyed dubbing this and put real effort into emulating the emotion of the person. If you didn't know better you'd think the people dubbing were actually there.

I just wanted to share some excitement and maybe someone out there is like me and didn't know and would love to watch again! If you've only seen the American version, go check out some real chefs working their magic.

Rewatching TWD for the 800000th time and I just wanted to say that Rick ripping Joes throat out with his bare teeth in defense of Carl is one of the most badass scenes in TV history. Every time I rewatch the show I get major goosebumps while watching this scene. It such a spectacular show of the raw, guttural, animalistic nature humans can be pushed too. So freaking great.

Please check out 'Light the Night' - a Taiwanese drama on Netflix

This is a 3-part series with 8 episodes for each part/season. So far 2 parts are available on Netflix, and I cannot recommend this series highly enough.

I don't want to give too much away, but it's essentially a non-linear drama first, even though the premise is of a murder mystery based on the owners, workers and acquaintances of a Japanese hostess club - which is set in Taiwan.

First off, the non-linear nature of the series is done amazingly well. It's nowhere near the complexity of Dark, but the execution of what is told, when it is told is so well done.

Secondly, the acting is top notch. The cast are all top tier actors/actresses in Taiwan. IMO, there no weak links here.

Last, but not least, and perhaps the most impressive thing to me is the cinematography and editing. The lighting, the shots, the colours of this series are shot so beautifully. The opening credits is alluring & the song used is a cover of one of Taiwan's most popular songs, sung by one of their most famous bands (I have to watch the opening every episode).

Even if you're not into Asian TV shows of any kind, trust me - you won't regret giving this one a shot.

[spoilers] kind of Cersei

I am rereading the series (after reading and watching simultaneously years ago) on AFFC, and am I the only one who gets so annoyed by Cersei’s over inflated view of herself and her “cunning”? It is so much that I can’t stand it! She is always thinking about how she has outsmarted everyone in the room, when really she is just majorly screwing everything up and not really being all that clever. She is also always comparing herself to Tywin, where she doesn’t even hold a candle to Tywin’s cunning, rule, or command. He would not approve of basically any decision Cersei made after his death.

I also feel like everyone knows these things but doesn’t say anything because she is so hot headed, that she’d have Payne take their head off immediately. Rant over…Please someone change my mind about Jamie’s sweet sister.

Three's Company tried that when Suzanne Sommers left and Priscilla Barnes took over but the ratings suffered a slow decline and the show got cancelled after three seasons.

I think what helped was that the show became more of an ensemble whereas before Cheers was the Jack and Diane show. The first two seasons with Kirstie was clearly them trying to have Sam and Rebecca be the focus with Sam constantly trying to woo her but then they quit that and it became a ensemble with everybody getting to shine.

For me, I thought Alley was funnier than Shelley Long but Long was a better actress.

[Spoilers] Benjen Stark was First ranger of the Night Watch. Why didn’t Eddard consult his brother before executing one of his own rangers in the beginning of the story? Wouldn’t it have been more appropriate for Eddard to send the abandoned ranger back to the wall for final judgement?

[Spoilers] Why are so many people in power so dumb in Game of Thrones?

I'm currently watching S03E05. Upto this point I've come to realise a lot of men in power are stupidly dumb or did dumb things that doesn't even make any sense. Like in the first season Ned Stark after learning the truth about the Bastards without revealing it, confronted the Queen which was dumb in so many levels. Then in season 2 Catyln Stark released the Kingslayer just like that without any talk to Robb. And why did she except that they would just return her daughter when they don't have the hostage to bargain. Again in Season 3 Robb executed Karstark when he killed those Lannister boys(at the same time his mother hardly faced any consequences). Didn't he think this would cause a lot of traction between his army?

Also the little cunt as the King is doing whatever the hell he wants for the past 2 seasons. Doesn't the Hand(The Grandpa) thinks it's better to control that child sooner? And don't get me started about Sansa Stark. Her entire existence is full of contradictory thoughts.

Is the show going to get better i.e. major characters will show some witts except Littlefinger, Lord Varys, Tyrion Lannister etc.

[SPOILERS] why do people hate s8?

I've just finished GoT, and I really enjoyed the entire show. Before watching, I heard alot of bad things about s8 and how it was terrible and whatever.

I finished it yesterday and I just don't understand why people would be mad? I guess I can see people not liking daenerys death or the sudden way the white walker part ended, but overall I really enjoyed all of it. Can somebody explain to me the main reasons people dislike it?

WOW I completely forgot how utterly terrifying 6x02 (JSS) was.

On a rewatch (first one in about 6 years), just finished 6x02, and holy mother of god I forgot how brutal and terrifying this episode was. It starts of so calm too. Maggie talking to Deanna about planting food, Carol and her casserole, Carl walking around w/ Judith.

And then bam. When the smoker got attacked I literally jumped. The fact that 45 mins before it was just another day for everyone, and then over half of the survivors are killed in the attack was a scary reality check after the calm-ish last few episodes.

From then on it was just complete chaos. I forgot just how insanely smart Carol was this episode and it reminded me of why I love her so much.

This definitely ranks in my top 10 episodes.
