What if T-Dog never dropped the key?

If T-Dog never dropped the key, Merle would never have met the governor, and Merle would never capture Glenn and Maggie, then Hershel would never have died, and the group would still be at the prison.

Just binged the first 5 episodes of Station Eleven and it is amazing

I know it’s received it’s fair share of critical acclaim, but I feel like I hear more negative than positive about it as far as word of mouth goes. I knew it had something to do with a post-apocalyptic Shakespearean troupe (which did not interest me AT ALL), but I decided to give it a go and I am absolutely in love with it.

Like I said I’m only 5 episodes in but man, there have been some absolutely gut wrenching moments. Are there any other shows like this?? I’ve watched the leftovers, thought it was well acted but the lack of explanation for literally everything happening in that show drove me insane. If there’s anything thematically that feels like this show I’d love suggestions.

Why do people hate season 7 so much?

I’m on season 7 episode 14 and I’m enjoying it, people act like it’s an insane drop off from season 6 but it’s mostly been around the same quality for me. Some really great episodes mixed in too and my top 1 best season opener so far, I can see this question being asked so many times but I just need to know why?

I can only think of Glenn and Abraham dying at the start maybe hurting some people’s enjoyment but it was needed imo.

In TWD World Beyond we saw what happens when an endless fire burns and Walkers end up melted to the floor. Could this have worked in S.6 E.1?

Dear city plot hole (spoilers)

So 2 things Hershel says he’s felt safer with the Croats group than ever before yet they literally cut off his toe so wtf.

Secondly negan is against killing kids the whole reason the Croat and negan fell out yet he executes oceansides male population, many younger being kids, as I forgot her name but one of the main ones from Oceanside sais her brother was 11 or so and executed by the saviours. So yeah many more plot holes but these two stuck out.

Calling All Female/Male Voice Actors for an Exciting TWD Motion Comic Series!

Greetings everyone,

We are thrilled to announce a thrilling project - a motion comic series based on The Walking Dead (TWD)! Our aim is to bring these iconic characters to life by providing them with compelling voices and adding an extra layer of depth to the comics.

Currently, we have a fantastic team of male voice actors, (wouldn’t hurt to get more) but we believe the series would greatly benefit from the inclusion of talented female voices. We are actively seeking serious and dedicated female voice actors to join our project and be a part of this immersive experience.

As we gear up to embark on this creative journey, we have already set up a dedicated Discord server to facilitate smooth communication, brainstorming sessions, and sharing ideas among the team members.

If you are a passionate voice actor and a TWD enthusiast, we encourage you to take part in this exciting endeavor. Your contribution will help shape the characters and bring a fresh perspective to the motion comic series.

To express your interest and secure a spot in the project, please DM us on Reddit. We look forward to connecting with you and exploring the possibilities together.

Let's make this motion comic series a truly memorable and thrilling experience for TWD fans worldwide!

Best regards, TWD Motion Comic team.

“It never happened” spin-off

I would love to see a “What-if” type special of TWD where the apocalypse never happened.

I’m just imagining Daryl and Merle ordering pizza and Glenn delivering it.

King Ezekiel could have a problem with Shiva or one of his animals and visit Hershel who was a veterinarian.

Or Carl could be struggling in PE class so Rick goes to talk to his teacher and finds out it’s Negan.

It’ll never happen, but does anyone else have any ideas like this?

How Rick and Lori's story ended breaks my heart

I'm rewatching s3 and it's so sad to know how they never even got to make up before Judith was born. Yes Lori did bad things but Rick still loved her, the immense regret he must of felt leaving things on bad terms with her.

She died thinking he hated her. But he really loved her. They just were going through a rough time. I didn't really like her in s1 or 2 but her death hurt 10x more because of the fact she was on bad terms with Rick.

If they resolved things and she knew that he loved her and the baby but things were just different, I feel like her death would of been easier to come to terms with.

Maggie’s obsession with Negan is definitely unhealthy

I get she still misses Glenn and hates how Negan brutally murdered him, but Negan has already faced punishment for what he did, and especially after she let him to rot in prison and he begged her to put him out of his misery. And there’s also how she just went back on her word that she doesn’t want to hate him anymore. Plus even if she killed him, she won’t likely have any satisfaction as it won’t bring Glenn back and most times revenge just feels empty.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force's 2nd Season is one of the best seasons in TV comedy history.

The show itself doesn't get as much love as it should but its 2nd season is especially abnormally excellent. Some of the funniest moments I've ever seen on TV. Some of the most memorable quotes in sitcoms ("If I woke up looking like THAT, I would just run towards the nearest living thing and kill it.").

It's a classic season and I highly recommend you watch it for its 20th anniversary.

Documentaries that accidently caught a scoop / uncovered something unexpected in the process of filming?

I was telling my daughter that I love when documentaries stumble into something that they were totally not suspecting and the film takes a complete turn to covering that thing. But I couldn’t think of any examples where it did.

Pretty sure there’s a bunch that covered the 2020 election that stumbled into covering the January 6th insurrection. So something like that.

Been a fan of this franchise since day 1 of the show. Halloween 2010. While I love it, there has been some cringe here and there and to me this phrase “We’re the ones who live” is extremely cringe. When Morgan says “I don’t die” it’s pretty much the same thing but it’s cool and badass, were the ones who live just feels tacky as hell. Seemed like a lot of people liked the new title (not sure if it’s confirmed the new title) which is nice but personally I think it’s a bad title

The Walking Dead behind the scenes is hilarious

Acclaimed director Frank Darabont puts together a prestige adaptation of one of the most beloved comic series of all time. Season 1 is critically acclaimed. Then AMC doubles the amount of episodes for season 2 without giving him an extra penny in the budget, and just generally dicks around with him until he quits/is fired/fucking peaces out to sue them a decade later for unpaid royalties. Then they get some rando who starts killing off valuable comic characters for seasons 2 and 3. Then they fire him.

THEN we get five seasons with Scott Gimple as showrunner, and watch as the show goes from a gritty zombie drama to some kind of existentialist soap where characters just talk in long monologues about how they have to live now.

The guy playing the main protagonist's son gets 18 and has to get paid more, so Gimple pulls a season 2 showrunner move and kills him. That is immediately followed by the lead actor quitting. The show then limps along with yet another showrunner until Darabont sues them. At which point AMC quickly throws in the towel and ends the show. But not before announcing three spin-offs starring the most popular characters, one of which exists just to wrap up the story of the main protagonist (who's chronologically been chilling somewhere for a whole ass decade now). And none of them conveniently have to credit Darabont.

Oh, and one of them is starring Norman Reedus, who was only ever hired by Darabont to be a cool recurring character in s1 and was never even in the comics to begin with, but has somehow outlived everyone else in this franchise.

Who's a TV actor that seems to get hit after hit? (Or at least gets cast in tv shows that all last at least 4 years.)

First that comes to mind is David Boreanaz. He had Buffy, then Angel, Bones, and now Seal Team. Seal Team had to move to Paramount Plus, but he's been consistently working as a lead television show actor since 1997. The man has basically never been a lead on a show that didn't make it to at least 5 years.

Black Summer season 2 is some of the best zombie TV / film I've ever seen

I haven't yet managed to get to the bottom of how this happened, but somehow this turned from a pretty unremarkable and, at best, serviceable zombie flick in season 1, to one of the most well constructed, taut and original zombie shows ever in season 2. It's not really the same show anymore.

It doesn't appear they changed show runners, so the precipitous increase in quality remains something of a mystery to me. If anyone has any insights on this, I'd be v keen to know.

Interestingly, season 2 has a Pulp Fiction-esque narrative structure consisting of a series of non-linear vignettes. The pieces are put together skillfully enough not to be confusing, but instead create interest and drama.

If you're into zombie fiction, I recommend giving this a watch (on Netflix).

That 70's show is the only comedy I know of where the characters react to someone being funny

Almost always in comedies the person being funny is just taken completely serously, but that 70's show you very often see people chuckling or laughing at what somone is saying. I don't know if that was intentional or the cast couldn't be bothered by acting normal , but can anything name a show show this happened regularly?

In Praise of Julia Louis-Dreyfus

Between Elaine Bennis in Seinfeld and President Selina Meyer in Veep, JLD has demonstrated that she’s a comedic actress of the highest degree. In my view, both roles have been two of the best long-term comedic roles in recent memory, and JLD is largely responsible for that. She brings a chaotic energy to the roles, weaving narcissism and selfishness into the lines with glee, while also managing to make a rather compelling case for our empathy towards her. A third worthy mention of hers is Maggie Lizer, the (not) blind lawyer in Arrested Development. Thanks for tuning in. That’s it.

Daryl Dixon looks like a more promising show to me than Dead City

It’s weird because I never would’ve thought a Daryl spinoff had more potential than a Negan spinoff. I’ve never been all that legitimately interested in Daryl as a character whereas Negan has always been throughly compelling to watch (despite the issues with the writing for him). Dead City as a show though so far has disappointed me between the completely bland undeveloped new characters, pitch black lighting (I can barely ever see anything I feel like, it’s so dark), the Negan/Maggie dynamic getting insufferably repetitive and just generally the overarching rescue mission plot not being particularly engaging. I’m also bummed that we stopped with the whole ‘exploring NYC’ aspect after the first few episodes, I really wanted more of that given it was literally the whole selling point of the show.

The promo pics for Daryl Dixon that were released the other day and the SDCC poster actually have me really excited. I’m loving all the medieval aesthetics (medieval clothing, medieval abbeys, horse drawn wooden carriages for transportation), the brightness and color of the cinematography (which is a stark contrast to Dead City) and just generally the plot of an underground nightclub / black market sounds a lot more genuinely interesting than Dead City’s rescue mission. I’m really interested too in Clemence Posey’s character - nothing more cool than a warrior nun lol - and the main bad guy who’s leading the black market

Does anybody actually like Shane after the 1st season?

JIC (means just in case)

I personally believe that Shane’s character was purposefully made to grow into a completely unlikeable douche up until his death. I also personally think that he kind of lost his mind which is what made him wonky in my eyes, does anyone else agree? Most of all does anyone NOT agree? All opinions are welcome, please!! Fully open for FRIENDLY debate if it’s called for, recently had a run in with a few hostile “I’m right, you’re wrong” folks when I asked for opinions so please be kind!😂😂

The Bear's "Forks" is the most inspiring and feel-good episode of television I've seen in years.

After Ted Lasso's hokey, overwrought, bloated third season that forgot the difference between uplifting and saccharine, The Bear comes along and shows us how it's actually done. This episode - charting fuckup Cousin Richie's sudden transformation into a passionate and enthusiastic team player - was such an unexpected delight, and brilliantly constructed from start to finish.

It's honestly incredible how much the episode accomplishes in just half an hour. The first third is spent establishing Richie as a fish out of water, placing him in the stark, foreboding environment of a fine-dining restaurant (Chicago's Ever). This section itself sets a very unique atmosphere for the show, visually reminiscent of "Severance" in the cold blues and oppressive sleekness, with Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross' "Waves" score being used to create a feeling of both mystique and isolation.

And then everything jolts to life as we see Richie slowly learn the value of hospitality and attention to detail, and it's just the most inspiring thing to watch. That whole sequence - of him learning how they wait tables, delivering (and serving) the deep dish pizza, and correctly answering the pop quiz about the restaurant, followed by him ripping through the streets in his car to Taylor Swift (his daughter's favorite artist) - made me grin like an idiot. And then we get that beautiful coda featuring a surprise appearance from Olivia Colman, which showed us the intimate, selfless humanity behind all the intense routine and regalia at the restaurant.

I honestly feel there's a lot to learn from this episode, not just about the fine dining industry, but about the joys of applying yourself and committing to a greater cause. It shows how personal transformation does not always have to be a protracted, arduous process - sometimes it's as simple as an attitude change, which can occur almost overnight if you simply make an effort to show up and give a shit. Small things - like Richie reading a book about the value of hospitality the night before work, as well as the way his coworkers notice his confidence and quickly grow fond of him - went a long way in constructing what was not just an uplifting but deeply reassuring episode that tells us it's never too late to begin again. Simply choosing to be more present and live with more intention can bring about instant and lasting change - one that could rewrite your very conception of yourself.

i just want to show appreciation to michone.

from the start i’ve always loved her. introduced as this fucking NINJA FUCKING katana warrior on her own with pet walkers to keep her hidden is just…man. not only that but she’s just such a beautiful black woman. she stands out even if she’s not the center of the episode. she to me is the moral compass of the group too. i know people argue that glenn is which i totally agree but michone too. she helps keep rick in line at times. we’ll, she tries her best. but no seriously i just overall love her. like idk she’s just so badass, her mothering carl after the prison falling is >>>> it’s just like , so wholesome and the way she always treats him.. man idk!! i just love her

This Might Be The Most Well-Written Relationship Dynamic On The Show

Watching Seasons 6-8 again, and I’m reminded of just how much care is given to the relationship between Morgan and Carol.

It’s quickly established in Season 6 how both characters are polar opposites to one another, with Morgan’s experiences with Eastman changing his perception of violence and the living and Carol having a painful journey that made her a unremorseful stone cold killer.

We can say what we want about Season 7 and 8 being poorly paced and the story overall being stretched out more than it should’ve, but the writing for this relationship and how it’s developed is incredibly well done. I feel way more impacted as a viewer by Carol’s relationship with Morgan than any other throughout the series because of how realistic and raw it is.

Could write about this for days really, just wanted to put that out there. Open to talking about it further though.

Deadloch's finale was incredibly satisfying.

Really impressed with this show from the start, but I had worried it was going to fumble the landing after setting so much in motion. The last ep is out though, and for me it just sealed the deal, this show came out of almost nowhere to be one of the best of the year, it's an absolute gem.

There's a lot to be said for figuring out what viewers would want to see or want to get answered, and then delivering on it, and I feel like that's a bit of a lost art these days with the rushed, scattered feel of a lot of stuff coming from streamers. This was just really, consistently well made from start to finish, and you can feel the same oddball passion project investment and tone in ep 8 as you did in ep 1.

I laughed, I gasped, I got really unexpectedly invested in the mystery and the characters, and I thought the finale did a great job upping the ante just that last little bit all round - the opening stuff with the victim stumbling around screaming was genuinely horrifying, so just balancing something like that with the density of gags that come after is quite a feat in itself.

The pace was maybe a bit over-frantic near the end, to be fair, but not enough to cost it much, and in the meantime so much was wrapped up so well it felt like I'd been watching this cast for years instead of a few weeks. I think they paid off on just about everything I'd had on my mind when I was speculating, even if they'd teased the prospect of leaving it hanging at first.

Really interesting illustration of just how important writing is to something succeeding or failing too, in a lot of ways. The two writers worked on it for years together, and it really shines through in how well crafted it is, both character wise, and in terms of the clues and red herrings laid out for you to pick up. The twists felt shocking without just being shocks for the sake of it - I mean they were dramatic and surprising, but they still generally made sense, and if you go back and check the steps to get there were set out from the beginning, so reveals felt like a payoff rather than just cheap tricks. I haven’t gotten that sense of solid craft from much else Amazon's done, and nothing Netflix has done for ages.

I did guess the killer at one point, sure, but I'd guessed everyone at some point, so it didn't feel like a let down to be right, and more like I'd done well to follow the right breadcrumb trail.

My sole gripe is that I felt the action stuff was a little clumsy and stagey compared to how well done everything else was, so during the final confrontation the cops look a bit sluggish and doofy. Fairly minor in the scheme of things though, and like I say, the writing - and indeed performances - were so strong I only mention that to be thorough.

What did anybody else think? Did you call the killer right? Would you be up for an S2 in Darwin, or better to leave as-is?

Who are the most unhinged TWD characters ever?

I think the Governor, Alpha and Beta. Beta was totally out of touch with reality and probably would have been a homicidal maniac in the “real world.” The Governor was a sociopath and killed without remorse. Martinez saved him from the pit, and he still killed him. Alpha was a serial killer with no regard for human life. Simon would be a runner up for craziest character because he was homicidal, too. People who kill without a conscious are the most dangerous.

Growing up with twd

I’m just finding the time to sit down and watch the first episode of the new spin-off, Dead City.

Within the first 15 minutes i got this insane nostalgic feeling I really didn’t expect to have. However, taking into account the fact that I’ve watched this show consistently since its premiere on my 8th birthday in 2010 Ive realized the strange bond I have with the walking dead universe.

Im not trying to sound corny, and i don’t generally admit that strange feeling to anyone because who tf bonds with a show? But Ive realized how empty the entertainment portion of my amusement/life was without it.

Has anyone else experienced this huge wave of relief/comfort/nostalgia since the release of Dead City?
