I'm probably late on this one and it's probably a repost, but I'd like to share my experience for anyone who would like to read it. Please keep in mind I have not read the books, but I have followed the show since it started.
I'll just get straight to the point: Robb Stark's name has always bugged me. It has never made sense to me. You got Sansa, Arya, Rickin, Brandon, Eddard, and Benjin. All the Starks have pretty cool names; and then there's Robb. His name is so plain compared to the others'. It doesn't fit in. I kind of just wrote it off, though. Authors use all kinds of names.
Anyhow, I was re-watching the scene where Genndri talks to Jon Snow for the first time. And Genndri says, "Your father was best friends with my father." I was casually enjoying it, but then the cogs in my head began to slowly turn and I finally got it! Ned Stark, the most noble man in Westeros, named his first born son after his best friend, Robert Baratheon!
Now, I can finally rest easy. His name is Robb for a reason.
