The rumor about Rick

So it's all over the internet now that Andrew Lincoln is leaving the show and it got me thinking.

First, does anyone else think he might be leaving because of the manner in which Chandler was released from the show? If you believe that he was fired(I do) and not that he just quit.

Second, I know they seem to take events from the comics and give them to other characters in the show to try and keep the fans of both on their toes. In the comics, after the Saviors war, Michonne goes off sailing around with some boat folks for the time jump, but what if they give that plot device to Rick instead? That way they can do some time jump stuff, but leave it open for him to come back after a season or two if he so desired?

My best attempt at recreating Rick in GTA. Pretty sure this is the closest I’m gonna get (sorry for the bad quality).

I really hope Angela Kang can save Negan's character

In my opinion, Scott Gimple completely butchered Negan's character. I know JDM's Negan has a lot of fans (a lot of it seems to be because he's found attractive), but I never once felt sympathy for him at all.

The changes made to the Governor when compared to the comics made him a far more believable and sympathetic character - with his whole family/daughter storyline.

But for Negan, he just comically laughs as he rules as a tyrant and tortures our main-characters, and then suddenly throws in some sob-story backstory about losing his wife and then bam! Apparently he now cares about Carl (who he was about to club with a barb-wired bat days prior) and then we should all supposedly support Rick's decision in letting this clearly deranged psycho live.

I thought it would've done wonders if Negan was given an actually fleshed-out back-story and that he was toned-down significantly. His comic-persona doesn't fit in the show for me, just like the Governor's persona wouldn't have. TV Negan should've been someone who had nightmares and a lot of regret for the horrific acts he's committed - while having a difficult inner-conflict about why he's doing these things. That way then Simon could also really take the antagonist role by the end. Negan and Simon do fight in season 8, but when he kills Simon he just sets out to do the exact same thing Simon was going to do anyway. Negan just doesn't grow or change at all to warrant any like-ability for me.

Gimple seemed very set on faithfully adapting the comic Negan intensely in season 7 and 8, but the earlier seasons did great at changing some aspects, and I really think Negan needed a major overall. Especially because he's left just doing the same stuff for 2 seasons. Comic Negan's got some great stuff coming, but I just hope Angela Kang figures out what does and doesn't work in TV form and really sells his redemption arc.
