I'm sorry, Jack Gleeson with a mustache looks like a mini Jeff Foxworthy.

An interesting thought about the zombie virus.

(Mild spoilers for the TWDU in general in this post)

Something I’ve recently started thinking about again in regards to The Walking Dead’s zombie virus is when it was discovered by the CDC which was in April of 2010 according to the wiki timeline, and Dr. Jenner(by day count) in Season 1 while the apocalypse itself goes into full swing in August of 2010 with society completely collapsing by September 2010 according to Fear the Walking Dead quite a few months after the virus was discovered. I’ll also note that I put “again” in the starting sentence because I’m pretty sure someone else in the subreddit brought a similar idea up a few months ago which was when I first started thinking about it but I think it could make for an interesting discussion so I’m bringing it up again.

This makes me wonder if there were any pre-apocalypse zombie outbreaks that happened but were covered up by the world’s governments, or happened unnoticed leading up to Wildfire’s discovery by the CDC. Maybe the Wildfire Virus hadn’t been very effective at spreading initially so reanimation events may have been at a minimum in isolated areas, or quickly quarantined/covered up in major areas if any zombie reanimation events were occurring.

Though I’ve also had the thought that the Wildfire virus was discovered but may not have had the ability to reanimate the Dead yet, though if the virus has no symptoms other than reanimation upon death by other means than I imagine it wouldn’t have been able to avoid discovery for very long so clearly some zombies in some form, or another had to exist at least a few months before the apocalypse in small numbers, or in an isolated area/areas.

This stuff would actually make for some good Tales of the Walking Dead stories, or as a new spin-off based before the apocalypse even starts but after the virus was discovered, and kept secret.
