Apology: I'm not a regular here, so I have no good idea of whether this is old hat or not.
Fans of BB were interested in this prequel show because Saul was a great comedy relief character that had some potential depth. But if we were expected more of the same Saul, we were mistaken. I kept waiting for "BB Saul" to appear, and he refuses to do so. BCS Saul has a heart, and a sense of right and wrong. BB Saul really doesn't.
As the seasons go by, it occurs to me that when BB Saul arrives, there won't be a season of the Hijinks of an Amoral Criminal Lawyer. The show will be done. And it won't be a joyful thing: the fun-loving rascal appears. It will be the death of a decent man, and the birth of the wrecked soul who ultimately ends up in that Cinnabon in Omaha.
