Has watching TWD changed your strategy?

Before I started watching TWD I always thought that if a virus outbreak did happen, and I found myself in an apocalyptic World with zombies, that my best chance of survival would be to get a tent and go out into the wild.

After a few weeks or months I wouldn't want to go crazy being all alone so I would find a small group of survivor's and see about helping establish a small community where we would have a fence to keep out zombies and we could grow our crops.

However, TWD has made me think that this wouldn't be a great approach. First of all, other humans are dangerous. More dangerous than zombies! TWD has really highlighted this.

There's no point in trying to establish or to build a community. If you build anything that's worth protecting sooner or later a bigger group is going to come along and want everything you have.

I think a better strategy is to try and build yourself a little safe zone that is safe from zombies but also hidden away from other people.

Also access to water is vital so rather than being camped in a tent out in the wild it would be better to be inside a building where you can turn on a tap to get water. I thought about this when the Governor visited Tara and her family and how having water is important.

So I think my current strategy is I would stay in my house and lock the doors and board up the windows. I would hide up in the loft of my house just in case people broke in. I would jump down and sneak about like a little mouse to get water when I needed it.

For food I would grow my own food to be self sufficient but would try to hide the food I'm growing so others wouldn't find it. In the same was as they grew things on the roof at the hospital I would grow things high up and hopefully out of sight of other humans.

On TWD you can see that the walkers are getting weaker and are deteriorating. How long before most are no longer a threat? So I guess the challenge is to see if you can survive long enough to outlast the majority of walkers as this would greatly increase your long-term chances of survival.

So in conclusion I would hide in my house and wait for things to get better. Oh and for a weapon to defend myself I would use a machete.

What would your strategy be? Has watching TWD gave you any ideas? Would you stay away from people completely? Would you join a community? Would you want to be in a particular building to survive? eg house, hospital, farm, school etc.
