Is Saul a competent lawyer? (Minor BrBa spoilers)

So it seems like Jimmy is clearly competent, however something in BrBa had me questioning this.

When Walt, Skylar, and Saul are discussing the "Danny" that will help them launder money, Saul suggests they go with "laser tag".

Walt and Skylar (and me) think he's retarded. It doesn't make sense for Walt to invest in that when it makes much more sense to go with the car wash for laundering money.

So who was wrong? Saul or walt? Is this just another case of Saul thinking outside the box or was he just being dumb?
