So here's a look at Cartoon Network's upcoming schedule for the week of July 31 to August 6.. And a good analysis on Tumblr of the schedule.
Now, Teen Titans Go! does have a miniseries premiering this week, so it's not uncommon for a network to air a marathon to hype people up for a show. However, if you've been following along, you'll know that A. Cartoon Network has a predilection for airing TTG! as their primary show already. B. That even Cartoon Network has never aired Teen Titans Go! this much in a one-week span.
The only respite you have from TTG! this week are premieres of OK KO, a new series by Steven Universe (a show that's not airing this week) alum Ian Jones-Quartey, as well as reruns of the new episodes scattered as islands amid the mid-day TTG! deluge. It's worth mentioning that the first six episodes of OK KO have been out on the Cartoon Network app for about a month already. Also, over the weekend, you'll get two airings of the Will Ferrell/Tina Fey animated classic "Megamind" to help ease you into Adult Swim.
For those of us who follow Cartoon Network shows (shoutout to r/stevenuniverse and r/adventuretime, among others), this isn't totally new to us. But the fact that the TTG! saturation only continues to grow rather than fall back into an equilibrium is just... I don't know.
How do you feel about this style of TV scheduling, where you rely so heavily on one show and think of premieres of other shows as afterthoughts?
