I will probably catch plenty of hell over this, but I'm going to say it anyway. I don't understand the bitching and complaining in regards to the pacing and amount of time passing between certain events etc. when it comes to more recent events in the show.
True, it's unrealistic at times but this is an epic story being saddled with a time limitation and being thought out now by two people who didn't ever intend to be doing so. It's not the books where the story can meander along and take it's time setting events up. I've only read the first book and at time GRRM does tend to draw things out.
I have to say that while yes, I noticed that things felt compressed and were happening quickly, I enjoyed the story just as much as I would have otherwise. Suspending disbelief, especially in a fantasy setting, is part of the package isn't it? I mean it's a show about zombies, dragons, gigantic wolves, resurrection, giants, witches, and an often times naked fireproof woman, are we really going to complain that we didn't see an army's uneventful trek across open land?
I for one have enjoyed the ride and don't see why everyone wants to be critical of something that so often hits the mark. Please feel free to discuss and understand that I'm not dismissing anyone's differing views, merely expressing mine. I am completely open to hearing counterpoints and welcome it as I truly don't understand all of the frustration on the part of some. Thanks for reading!
