Is it time for the Walking Dead to part ways with Scott Gimple?

The show's ratings are now going down, and people are complaining about the quality of the show more than ever. and that's disappointing to me. i LOVE the Walking Dead. the comic is my favorite comic of all time, and the actors like Andrew Lincoln, these guys put it all out there every single shoot. they don't deserve to be stuck on a sinking ship.

When you consider that the source material is excellent, that the costumes keep getting better and better, that the acting is still top notch, and that the setting of each episode still feels very "zombie apocalypse" but each season still feels like it is getting worse, to me that means we have to point the finger at the showrunner.

i blame him for the lousy cliffhangers. the most common rebuttal to that is "well all shows have them" and to that i say absolutely not. the best shows, the ones that win awards, they don't use cheesy cliffhangers. yes, many shows do have some degree of cliffhangers, but not as bad as what we've seen here. even in the comic, at one point when a main character was bitten, it was the last frame of the issue showing the character bitten and their reaction to the bite. then the issue was done to leave you wondering who else was affected, if they got out of there, etc. but at least we knew that someone was bitten and that they were likely to die.

i blame him for the gaping plot holes. i'm not going to elaborate on specific plot holes but i'll just say that you don't have those same plotholes in the comic book. whether it's someone sliding under a dumpster, or the countless times where people are shot and then seemingly unaffected one episode later, or the unbelievable foolishness of characters who clearly know better doing things that make 0 sense... these are unforgivable plot holes that i blame Scott Gimple for leaving in there.

i also blame him for the additions that aren't from the comic, the additions that have been done terribly. specifically the garbage people. it is cringey whenever they're shown, especially with the music that they're using each time they come up. there are times when i am literally embarrassed by what i'm watching, and feel like i shouldn't put my partner through the torture of having to see it on our TV.

before we see countless "WELL IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE SHOW STOP WATCHING! I'M TIRED OF THESE THREADS!" comments please consider that i DO love the show. i'm only a concerned fan. this show turned me on the comic series, and i have now read every issue three times, catching the new issue every night they come out right at midnight. i have watched the additional backstories they have, like the "Here's Negan" as well as some of the Governor novels. this is still always going to be one of my favorite shows, but i'm not going to let some lazy effortless amateur showrunner take advantage of my unflinching loyalty. i'm at a point where i almost don't want to watch it anymore, and instead of just giving up, i'm making my case here.

if you are also having trouble with the show's recent dip in quality, but don't blame Scott Gimple, please discuss here. i'd love to hear what you have to say about it. but right now i don't know of anyone that is willing to come to this guy's defense. even his resume is bad. look at his wikipedia page. what the hell are those shows he was working on prior to TWD and how the fuck did he get this job anyway?!
