Jesse making speed?

This really confuses me. In season 2 Jesse gets kicked out of his aunts house for making speed. I'm no chemist but I'm pretty sure meth and speed are not the same thing. If they are the same thing then why wasn't he arrested. Was the lab altered to make it seem like a speed lab. Did i miss something
