What I think is Walter biggest “flaw”

I just finished watching breaking bad (yes, finally did it), incredible show but one thing bothered me.

Walter to me was not really trying to survive. He was a Drug Kingpin and as such was in no shortage of means to just have a Lung Transplant (Lungs of his particular blood type fetch around 185.000 USD on the Black Market).

His disease had not propagated at the time it could have been done, and so he could have survived.

Yet... I think it is one of the flaws which made him such a charismatic lead, he was completely suicidal yet used his shortened time on earth as deadly motivation. Something which set him apart from Gus Fring who took his deadly motivation from the death of someone close to him.

Thoughts?

PS : Another thing that bothered me is that he never dumped Skyler, as she did never even try to understand him, was not truly supportive of him and went as far as wishing death on him. In his place, I would totally have dumped her, took off with the kids and found myself someone more loyal.
