When hound and Brienne tarth met and after looking at Brienne's sword, hound said "I always wanted some valyrian steel".

I think he will be given one. Which one of remaining valyrian swords do you think hound will have?

There is Brienne's (it is part of ICE sword). Will she die and her sword go to hound?

Or sword of Samuel Tarly?

Why I'm finally dropping the show (spoilers for 4x03)

I'm not dropping the show because Nick died. I'm dropping the show because the character that died in 4x03 wasn't Nick.

Don't get me wrong, his name was Nick, and he certainly looked like the Nick I watched for 3 seasons, but it wasn't him. It was a completely different character.

Throughout seasons 1-3 Nick was characterised as being charismatic and (most importantly) fearless. He was the guy that would go outside into the "real world" just for fun, or even because he preferred it out there to in a camp. He was the guy that discovered the walker-blood trick to travel safely, and he can literally be quoted as saying the phrase "I didn't feel fear, I knew I wasn't going to die" (I'm paraphrasing lol)

Cut to season 4, and this guy "Nick" is a completely different character. He's gone from being fearless to being paralysed with fear, with literally no explanation in between. What's the point in even including the old Fear characters if they're literally unrecognisable as their old selves? It's not just this, Nick has lost all of his nuance. Remember he's supposed to be an addict? I think Gimple might have forgotten that (if he ever knew). Nick was also really good with kids (we see this in season 2) But in season 4 he feels incredibly awkward talking to that brat ass kid that eventually killed him.

Maybe we'll see this development in flashbacks, but for me that's not good enough. Because now we know it's all pointless, it's all building to an unsatisfying death that needed to invoke beautiful imagery (a field of flowers) in order to have any emotional punch. Remember the deaths of season 3? There was no pretty imagery there to tell us "you should be sad now", because the deaths had purpose, they felt earned. Again, maybe we'll get the build up in flashbacks (We all know how much Gimple loves his flashbacks, even if he has to ruin the structure and emotion of the show to do it), but that's the lazy, rushed way of doing it.

This is exactly what I was worried about when they announced the time-jump and the new writing team. That the characters would lose every bit of complexity that made them interesting for the first three seasons, because this new writing team has never written for these characters before. And don't get me wrong, there were ways to do Nicks death well - ways I would have congratulated them for. But this wasn't one of them, because he feels like a completely different character.

This feels like a completely different show, essentially. Which is exactly what I was worried about.

I'm so tired of the way Morgan is written. It's horrible. Like something a "deep" high school student would do.

Morgan's constant inability to exist outside of two over explored extremes has become really tiring for me. It's not profound or even interesting at this point. They've been using his character to explore these two themes since his reintroduction into the main show. He's just so stale at this point and his introduction into fear is dragging the show down. I mean, I just don't get it. I assume that Gimple and the writers involved with this show studied creative writing at a university level. I'm confident that they're much smarter and more educated in this field than I am. So why can't they think of anything better to do with Morgan's character than to constantly switch him back and forth from psycho maniacal murderer and overly passive monk to a fault. It's ridiculous. Not only this, but this whole question of who have I become is a theme that they beat to death with other characters like Carol and Rick as well. It's just stupid. We get it, the world is screwed up and sometimes we have to do things we don't want to, this includes killing people, now please move on to something else.

Fear kind of touched on this notion last season with the Clarks overthrowing Jeremiah and pretty much stealing the farm from him. That was a much more interesting way to explore the gray area that exists between right and wrong. Morgan's return to refusing to kill when it's necessary really harms this show in my opinion. Think back to the first episode when Morgan ran towards a man with a rifle in wide open space while jumping rooftop to rooftop. Somehow this man missed several shots with Morgan running at him in a straight line. This is the kind of writing we get because of Morgan's terrible characterization. Just really disappointed with the direction of this show now.

[NO SPOILERS] When does the show get as good as everyone says it is?

A few months ago i watched up until the end of S03E01 and then lost all motivation to keep watching and kinda forgot about it.

After speaking to people i have come to understand that it gets amazing during seasons 3 and 4.

Would you agree with this and if not when do you think the show gets amazing.

I have to say, for a show i lost interest in after 21 episodes, i find myself getting drawn back to it over the past few days and might start my rewatch tonight.

Watching Person of Interest for the first time and I LOVE it!

The first season was great with twists and all but the second season is just pure awesome. Wonderful mix of AI and action. The flashbacks felt emotional not something you see in every action show and the villains were really fleshed out. Love it whenever John goes like ''John Rooney, Assets''. Should have seen it before.

(Season 2)Why did Randall tell Daryl about his group?

So Daryl was beating Randall up, he told him they had 30 men, had weapons thats totally fine, I get it he was tortured but why was he so creepy about everything else? Why did he tell them about the rape? Why even tell them about Maggie?

Is he supposed to be this stupid? A few lies and he would have gotten out of there alive, even shutting his dumb mouth would have sufficed. Was he just a tool to push Shane over the edge?

What Do You Think Would Have Happened If Jesse Pinkman Was Killed Off After Season 1?

This one really intrigues me. For those of you who didn't know by all reports the original plan was to kill Jesse Pinkman near the end of the first season. In fact the only reason that he wasn't killed was because Vince Gilligan saw potential in Aaron Paul as an actor.

This seriously made me wonder what would have happened if this did indeed pan out? Would BB have been as successful as it was and would it have changed the story line to the show completely? What do you guys think?

I feel like Henry Winkler is stealing the show on "Barry". It's his best role since Fonzie.

So many great scenes last night. The audition scene. The scene where he dresses down Barry, and then everything about that date with the police detective.

I watched a lot of Happy Days re-runs as a kid, and every episode of Arrested Development, but I've never seen Winkler play a character like this. He's a little more naturalistic while at the same time being just as crazy and hilarious as his other characters. He really is a fantastic actor.

Edit: Apparently this was from this was last week's episode and not last night's. I guess that means I get even more "Barry" tonight!

I woke up, watched FTWD this morning, am I still dreaming?

Utterly astounding that a character of this magnitude would be killed off...

Although I’ve seen it’s possibly the actor’s decision to leave the show, ultimately the show was much better with him in a lead role (much better than Kim Dickens role imo).

I love the strong female lead in Madison, but Nick’s arc was so much more profound than any character’s aside from Daniel’s (where is he?!).

I’ve always been a die hard fan of TWD, but genuinely think FTWD has a much better opportunity to be a better show. It’s going to be hard for me without Nicks character moving forward...

Not to mention it’s gonna bring another nutso Morgan episode sometime most likely since the writers made it seem like Morgan was going to take Nick under his wing. Now Morgan is effed up again...

Clarence Darrow

Stay with me, this will take a minute....

In season 3, episode 1, when Jimmy is helping Chuck take down the tinfoil, Jimmy finds a book. He and Chuck reminisce about it, and Chuck tells Jimmy that their grandmother was reading it to her class when the Titanic sank in 1912.

Jimmy and Chuck's family is from Cicero in Illinois. That also is where Western Electric is.

In 1915, Western Electric chartered two excursion boats for their company picnic. One of those was The Eastland. That ship capsized at the dock on the Chicago River, killing 844 people. (Some say the sinking was caused, in part, by the extra life boats required after The Titanic, but no writing of the time, or the writings of serious historians since list that as a cause. Another topic for another day).

In Season 3, Episode 6, there is a discussion between Howard and Chuck about Chuck getting his act together. Howard mentions Clarence Darrow.

After the Eastland, only one person (the ship's engineer) was ever taken to trial over the disaster. He was represented by.... Clarence Darrow.

That is all probably apropos of nothing, and a connection made only in my head, but thought I would share it...

Its Just WAY too much at once

We get that crazy end of last season, only to dismiss it completely

We get this insane time jump to an entirely different state

We get Morgan from The Walking Dead

We get all these other new characters introduced

No Madison in the present

We get this stupid, CORNY, CONTRIVED , DUMBED DOWN sepia toned "flash back" bullshit with Nick and Madison

So much story and emphasis on the NEW cast, the NEW surroundings, the NEW time frame, and then they suddenly kill off a fan favorite.

And then have the gall to tell us he wanted out?

You just added all of these new salaries, of COURSE someone had to go, and this was the actor they cut. They want to save face by making it "his choice" but anyone who believes that shit is fooling themselves. Killing Nick was a salary dump.

And because of all the other shit, while I was shocked at his death, I was not invested with his character like I HAD been, LAST YEAR.

They changed up too much shit too damn fast and who we see are not the same characters at all. Sure, the same actors are there, but these are not the characters we grew to love. They are a side show in their own show now.

This is a big huge gamble to try and keep the 2nd show going, and they will end up not pleasing anyone. TWD fans won't care, and all they did was piss off FTWD fans.

Not only that, it now mirrors TWD with both sons dying.

I've been frustrated with this show before, but this is next level.

We really watched them completely dumb down the show, the narrative, the characters, even the cinematography!

I Fear The Walking Dead will only continue to get worse.

Personally I would have loved to see Ramsay and Euron meet. Considering their houses were at war, it feels like they were meant to give each other a run for their money in terms of brutality.

Bronn and Daario would've been cool too, seeing two sellswords from opposite sides of the world sizing each other up.

[SPOILERS] Does anyone pity Theon?

I find a great majority of people hate Theon. I find this so interesting. GRRM did such a wonderful job creating this character because it seems he simply wrote this character so that everyone could hate him.

Theon Greyjoy.. a person who did not belong to any family. His father never fought for him after he was captured .. and just wrote him off. His family couldn't care less.. so sad. The Starks.. always reminded him he didn't belong. That he was a prisoner, in fact everyone reminded him of that. Like it was his choice. So sad. And unfortunately, the one time he had a chance to regain his family back, he made the wrong choice. Peer pressure at its finest. So sad. What a horrible situation to be in. Then to be taken prisoner and tortured with no pity from anyone. I mean his sister did try, but he had already given up hope. A poor unfortunate soul. Seems like life is teaching him that he is meant for nothing but to be of service to others. Yes Theon isn't the best person in the world because life handed him a cruel hand.

So I guess that is where I am confused. How is it easy to hate someone like this after seeing life through his eyes? Does anyone pity Theon? I find myself wanting to give him pity because it seems no one has pity for him. Perhaps this is what GRRM intended to do when creating this character. Idk. Its just fantastic how he did it.

(Also, if you do hate him, thats understandable and GRRM did a great job creating a character that served this purpose.)

Finished Breaking Bad for the first time with my Dad

This year my mother passed away and it's felt like I had nothing to look forward to and I've just been totally sad all the time. My dad has been swearing up and down for years that Breaking Bad was one of the greatest shows of all time, but of course I thought it was way over-hyped. But since it was my mom and his favorite show (they both watched like 2 or 3 times), I decided I would watch with him. What started out as me watching with him to keep him company quickly turned into an obsession of mine. I ended up traveling back from college every weekend since we started (it's only 2 hours so it's not that bad). We would watch for hours on end and love every bit of it. Last night we finally finished and it was honestly so great. He loved watching my reactions to what was happening and hearing my theories about what would happen next. It really helped us from being sad all the time and we grew a lot closer than we ever have been. I just wanted to share, it's honestly been really great and I'm so sad that it's over. Now he's rewatching the seasons of Better Call Saul with me and I can't wait to get home again next weekend.

Is this show much better than Breaking Bad? I mean, I liked the OG, but there are so many things I think this one does better. I find the characters to be more compelling, I prefer the cinematography and the editing, the writing feels more genuine, and the acting is more solid. I'm especially captivated with Mike's arc.

Anyhow, I'm only 2 seasons in, and very pleased with it so far.

7 Episodes Away

I had watched about half of Breaking Bad some years ago and didn't get round to finishing it at the time. Finally came back to it and have been watching it right from the start, binge-watching seasons 4 and 5 over the weekend.

So, I am now just 7 episodes from the end, having just seen the face-off at the end of Blood Money.

My question to you is this: How do you find the experience of rewatching it all compared to your first time?

Because right now, I am just feeling more and more heart-broken for Skyler and Jesse, disgusted and horrified by Walt, and on complete tenter-hooks with Hank.

I find it amazing how gradual and subtle the transformation of Walt has seemed. And yet at the same time, I feel like "Huh, how could I have been so naïve?", in much the same way as Jesse, because the signs were actually there much earlier on. I just keep thinking of that speech Jesse gave in One Minute.

How did you find subsequent viewings? Were there aspects you appreciated more on a repeat viewing?

[COMIC SPOILERS] Theory on a certain group

Commonwealth Theory

My theory on the Commonwealth being "not as perfect as it seems" is because there may be a bit of racism in the Commonwealth. There are just a few things I'd like to point out to support my theory

-Stephanie: She may have a good reason to be talked down to so harshly for talking to Eugene without the CW's permission. But they've really hammered on her for what she did. It's weird that she suddenly switch ethnicities in issue 178. It's also weird why they'd spend 3 panels with Michonne (who's arc right now is reuniting with Elodie) asking how 'things work' in CW. Why not have Eugene ask that instead who's super focused on Stephanie.

-Mercer & Siddiq: I found it odd that Mercer says to siddiq "looking at you though...I don't think he'll have much reason to be around you. Don't look like you know your way around a silver spoon, if you catch my drift". While this could be him just calling siddiq stupid it could mean something more.

-Elodie: It's really concerning that sebation hits elodie, to which she responds by stopping Michonne and saying that "We should know our place".

-Princess: everyone knows that dialogue she has on the road talking about how diverse Rick's group is and how cool it is. While it's definitely an out of place conversation they have in the comic, I'd like to believe Kirkman is smarter than that and is setting us up for some foreshadowing of some sort about diversity and it's place in the Commonwealth.

Those are my supporting points for my theory. I am in no way trying to start some race argument or anything like that. Let me know what you guys think! :)

Daniel Salazar's ultimate fate?

In my opinion, Daniel is by far the best character in the entire franchise (main show, companion show, comics and Telltale games), so I was very worried not seeing or hearing anything of him this season. I looked it up and showrunner Andrew Chambliss has confirmed that Daniel will appear once again in the "Walking Dead universe". That seems to me like peculiar and careful phrasing, and potentially means he could be moving over to The Walking Dead, thus switching places with Morgan? I'd personally like to keep a superior character on a superior show, but as long as it's more Daniel, I'm down for it. If this is the case, though, it seems way too coincidental for one character from the main show to randomly find their way to Fear, as well as vice versa. It should be one or the other, but I digress. What do you guys think is happening with Daniel?

Theory about Chuck

I think Chuck isn't fond of batteries. hear me out on this one. In S3 E1, Chuck asks Ernesto to open the bakery pack for him, and then seems frustrated when handling them. This leads me to believe he doesn't like them too much. Ever noticed how he keeps most of the lights in his house off? might be related to the battery thing I'm not sure yet. I'll keep you updated on my findings.

Uno is an outstanding episode, which does an excellent job of setting up the series.

Just started back watching BCS again, having watched season 3 anew since it was posted at Netflix. My appreciation for the first episode just reached a new high. I believe Uno does a superb, thorough job of setting forth the core elements of character for Jimmy and Chuck. It also lays out many of the major themes that course through the entire series.

It’s remarkable, for instance, when Howard politely fusses at Jamie that, in the law, too often the combatants get too caught up in winning and lose sight of the broader humanity. That is certainly something that Jimmy struggles with in the first three seasons and that too often gets the better of him and his brother. Howard at times lets this tendency get the better of him, as well, though he does seem to strain to hold himself to his own standard.

And as someone who has been very much a partisan of Jimmy, one who has emphasized that he went straight and narrow for 10 years after he came out to New Mexico, working long hours in the mail room at HHM and getting his law degree by night, I have to admit that the darker side of his character is amply in evidence in Episode 1.

You could make the case for Jimmy that, by the time of the first episode, Chuck has already put him behind the eight ball by blocking him from joining the firm as an associate, consigning him to low dollar, often arduous piece work assigned by the criminal court. But he is certainly a capable conniver, finagler and manipulator and is not above employing those dark arts.

On a more positive note, Jimmy‘s work at the beginning of episode 1 advocating for the three young punks who defile the corpse is nothing short of brilliant legal advocacy. The way he subtly, gingerly walks the tightrope on his clients’ behalf is masterful.

I could go on, and I’m keen to hear what others think, so I will close with this thought: a couple of the major themes set forth in Uno stand out. First is the high degree of correlation between the skill set of a con man and that of a highly capable attorney. The course of the relationship between Jimmy and Chuck is rife with this theme. Second is the powerful theme of when and whether, in the real world, the law as an instrument for shaping people‘s behavior and determining outcomes has anywhere near the power of brute force and, if you will, chicanery. Jimmy, at the end of the episode, awkwardly proclaiming himself an officer of the law, is very quickly commandeered and shut up by Tuco’s gun in his face.

BCS has many outstanding episodes, many of which are often mentioned here in discussion of the show. Uno, doesn’t seem often to get mentioned in these discussions. I believe it very much merits a place in the pantheon of the show’s finest hours.

[Show & comic spoilers]: What moment from the comics do you think they should've changed for the show?

I've been randomly re watching the show and have to commend them for translating a lot of big moments from the comics. But since the lineup happened I had a feeling that killing Glenn and Abraham, especially Glenn, was a bad Idea. Since Kirkman is the only one who works on the comic it's easier for him to kill off a beloved character without causing as much a stir. So what moment or character should've been changed.

Best TWD episode of all time?

My personal favorite is “Clear” from season 3. This is where Rick, Michonne, and Carl go looking for guns that Rick left back in their hometown.

The dynamic is so interesting; first, you have the beginning of a budding relationship with Michonne and Carl, and it’s also the beginning of Rick’s acceptance of Michonne to the group due to Carl’s growing bond with her.

This is also the episode where Rick and Morgan are re-united. You find out Morgan’s gone mad (for the first time) and that his kid died, and for me I really enjoyed the writers bringing full circle character relationships in season 3 (also the return of Merle this season).

The episode was like it’s own story to me, beginning with two distant people (Rick and Michonne), who jump in a car with Carl, ignore and outrun some random hitchhiker, go find guns, reunite with an old friend, grow closer together, and ends with the guts of the hitchhiker on the road, a result of their negligence to helping people (for obvious reasons at the time).

The best scene was seeing Morgan toss walker bodies around as the group drove away.

(Spoilers) What needs to happen for the show to redeem itself for you?

I don’t read the comics so I don’t even know if the show is straying off the source material or even if it matters. But the quality needs to pick up obviously and there are too many short comings to mention; we all know shits been down hill for about 2 seasons. Aside from the finale I didn’t watch any of the episodes live, mostly because it’s not worthwhile. I still haven’t crossed the event horizon where I say fuck it totally and bail, but things need to pick up, I mean can it get worse is the more optimistic question. So what needs to happen here in S9 to at least trend towards the right direction?

[SPOILERS] What is your favorite speech/monologue of the series and why?

Title says it all.

Mine comes from the books. Speton Meribald gives an extremly powerful speech of how a soldier breaks in war, and in reality, he's actually talking about how he broke in the War of the Ninepenny Kings. After that speech, the reader starts to sympathize, albeit a little, for the men in the war who've turned rampant.

In the show for me it's Tyrion's speech in his trial. Dinklage dominates that scene so well.

So what's yours?

S2 E8 "Inflatable" - Kim's fake backstory.

Kim’s backstory was a lie.

Kim was initially looking forward to work for Schweikart and Cokely firm, so during the interview with Richard Schweikart in S2 E8 she really wanted to make a good impression. To do so, she faked a backstory she knew they would like. A bit of Jimmy might have rubbed off on her.

After Richard said "Pulled yourself up by your boot straps, I like that", taking about Kim starting out in the mailroom, Kim knew how to impress him: An inspiring story about a rise to success from humble beginnings through hard work and ambition. So that's exactly what she did with a fake backstory about being from “just a tinny little town barely on the map” but moved to the city wanting more.

Leaving the meeting, Kim’s Freudian slipup, calling Richard “Howard” shows she’s starting to have second thoughts. Maybe wanting to leave Schweikart and Cokely just like she’s planning to leave HHM.

After the interview, Kim goes to the parking lot, she realises what she has done, she pulled a Slipping Jimmy! Getting her way by lying. This convinces her that maybe Jimmy might be right. So she reconsiders his offer.

[SPOILERS] Season 6 - Why did Lyanna Mormont call Davos Seaworth "Ser"

Hi,

I don't know how many times i watched the first appearance of Lyanna Mormont in the Show. I was always wondering why Lyanna called Davos "Ser" in this Scene. Bear Island is in the very North of Westeros. On the contrary Ser is title which is given to Knights who believe in the faith of the seven which is only common in the south. Davos travelled with Sansa and Jon who both shouldn't have any southern friends.

It just doesn't makes sense Lyanna assuming of Davos to be from the south. If she said it of courtesy "Lord" would have fit more in this Scene than "Ser" because nothern men believe more likely in the old gods. She couldn't have know that Davos is from the South.

To me, it seems Tony is a product of his enviourment, while Walter White comes across as a normal person who developed and evolved into a bad person, if you were to compare the two character, what would you say are the key differences to why they do what they do, why they are like what they're like, and what makes them bad people?

[Spoilers] Irritation over the stained glass scenes

New to this subreddit so I'm not sure if this has been discussed yet.

I can't help but still feel gipped and duped by that image of Rick sitting helplessly by the tree with stained glass above him. Everyone speculated for months of the meaning behind those scenes i.e. if Rick was going to die, if he was severely wounded, etc. Now I don't even recall him sitting by that tree once during that Negan fight/finale.

To me, it just felt kind of manipulated to allude to Rick possibly dying/bleak future for him for the suspense/drama factor to the audience. Maybe the symbolism behind that was that he was triumphant even after all that he went through? I don't know, but I sure feel like a dumbass for pondering for months what that scene meant.

Just a thought...

I think it would’ve been interesting for Shane and Negan to have met. It could’ve played in so many different ways.

I personally think Shane was the most evil “villain” on the show.

I’ve watched the series at least ten times and I’ve only just realised that Betsy Brandt (Marie) was pregnant during season 2. How did I miss that?!

It seems so bloody obvious now, and I also didn’t know that supposedly they used her bump in the scenes when showing Skylers bare bump.

What else have I missed?!

Okay, I'm almost done with my second run through the series and...

Why do I not remember Walt being so fucking stupid? Like, this has been bothering me for so long. I absolutely have to make a post about it. God, it's like every decision he makes is the worst one possible. I remember when I saw this show when I was a lot younger I sort of just chalked Walt up to be a genius the whole time. Now I'm realizing he's constantly trying to play hotshot with everyone he deals with, not having the blatantly obvious realization that things are much more coordinated and complicated than him. Does he not realize how the cartel works? How he's not as tough and high up as he thinks he is?

The stupid fucking things he says to Gus and Mike, how he constantly is fucking with their well organized plans to deal with business, and how he can just never listen to orders that are made for his own good. This is not to mention his absolutely awful reactions to Hank's detective work. Could he appear any more guilty? The "great Heisenberg" literally breaks down any time a single thing falls out of line. I mean, even Jesse gets it after a while and starts to realize how things fall into place, keeping his mouth shut and following organized plans that are designed to prevent disaster. But Walt is constantly freaking out and can never keep his mouth shut. He's like a damn child! I don't know if this is meant to be how he is portrayed, but I'm almost done with season 4 and it's seriously getting under my skin. Even when it seems he has the upper hand it really just turns out to be another ploy that he thinks is some brilliant deduction but in fact just barely keeps the gears turning. Just some thoughts I had to get on paper.

Just watched the entire series for the first time!

My mind is completely blown. What a roller coaster. I realized how deeply I cared for the characters during the episode where Walt was trying to get his family out and realized Skyler had just spent all of the money. The end of every episode is like coming up for air for the first time. And I must have watched the scene where Walt said "I am the one who knocks" about 50 times.

Walt and Jesse's transformation from regular people to savage drug lords was completely and utterly astounding. The emotional depth of the characters was so profound. I have never been so emotionally connected to and moved by a TV series.

Edit: Walt is completely mad and yet sane at the same time. When he blew up that apartment complex just to scare the living shit out of Tuco and his gang, my mind was completely blown.

RANT: I’m not so sure Gimple is entirely to blame for the garbage that TWD has become. I believe there is a a fundamental reason TWD has gone downhill, and I’m worried that Fear is next.

So let me preface this by saying that I thoroughly enjoy TWD and Fear; day one viewer of both shows, and have read the comics up to The Whisperer War.

Now, first off, TWD was and is in someway a fantastic story. Andrew Lincoln is an amazing actor, so much so, that he can actually pull off ridiculous one-liners that is apart of the terrible dialogue in the past two seasons. I used to love the show, diehard fan; and then things started to change. I used to sit on the edge of my seat during some episodes, and now, now I hate watch it. Things just had to change.

While the terrible dialogue and plot points didn’t start until season 7, it started to surface in season 6. Some episodes being so terrible that I cringed, Rick and Daryl chasing Jesus for instance. I think there is a reason for the soap-opera drama that we now see.

Actual point of my post:

So to state it plain and simple: You can only tell the same story so many times.

There are characters that go in circles rather than an arc, and it is absolutely infuriating (Morgan being an example). I think this is because it’s a zombie apocalypse, and the first year or so of any apocalypse is by far the most entertaining. There is PLOT to go off of. Now we’re at the point where nearly every event is character driven, which is fine, but it’s not fine when it’s soapy. Which Gimple is.

So Fear was actually in its prime, I believe. It had a good writer, a good cast, great crew, and a set of characters all unique and powerful. It was what? 3 months into the apocalypse? THATS PERFECT! Stay there!

Alas, nope. We get a Morgan crossover 18 months later.

I’m not saying S4 will be bad. I’m just worried that they’re going to ruin Fear now, the same way they’ve ruined TWD. So much so, that I have to hate watch it now.

So maybe it’s Gimple’s fault, maybe not, after all, he did write seasons 4 and 5 which I think were mostly great. But he also wrote 7 and 8. Which is cringe city.

In the end, TWD and Fear became like little show babies to me. I’ve been invested in the universe for 8 years, and now those babies are looking mighty stupid compared to some of my new babies.

It makes me sad.

Feel free to criticize everything I said; half the time I don’t know what I’m talking about.

[SPOILERS] - Perspective of the Saviours

Upon re-watching the AOW arc, I found it very interesting to look at the perspectives of the workers in the sanctuary. From their point of view, it is clear that Rick an Co are clearly the antagonists.

In a world where death is all around you, finding a safe, secure location with a group of like minded survivors is always going to be a preferable alternative to death. Although the working conditions and the general environment doesn't seem that pleasant, it is still much better than living in the outside world. The Rick and co come along....

  1. They obliterated an outpost, murdering all of the inhabitants without any warning what so ever. All of this was a simple hit contract in exchange for some food. From their perspective this was clearly an act of aggression by one group, which caused the deaths of many families, friends and colleagues of workers in the sanctuary

  2. Carl Arrives in Season 7 on the back of a truck, killing two more workers from the sanctuary without warning

  3. Rick's group arrives at the sanctuary at the beginning of season 8. They immediately shoot all of the windows out, roll a truck filled with explosives in the compound, detonate the truck and they allow a heard of walkers to surround, attack and isolate the sanctuary. The fear of death is back.

  4. The power starts to fail, food supplies begin to run low and there is the impending doom of walkers right outside the front door.

  5. Daryl conducts what I have to describe as the worst plan of all time, driving a truck into the sanctuary and letting the walkers storm their home, murder more members of their community and cause complete chaos within their home.

Honestly if you looked at the whole AOW arc from the perspective of a worker in the sanctuary, you really would have a different view on Rick's group. This is one of the things I really do love about The Walking Dead. The moral ambiguity surrounding each characters actions really does depend on the perspective from which you view it. It really does highlight that nobody is actually 'good' in show; good is entirely a subjective perspective

Fell in love with The Leftovers and created some hi-res printable posters for it.

Here are the posters. This show totally surprised me. I didn't really hook into it until episode three of the first season but I was neck-deep in it after that point. I've never seen anything quite like it, the way it tackles such heavy themes like grief and desperation is oddly refreshing. I love that every single major character is just hanging on for dear life, trying to pretend that everything is okay when it never truly is, because there is no clear cut way to repair or overcome utter, confusing loss. Kudos to Damon Lindelof and his cast and crew (especially Justin Theroux, Carrie Coon, and Christopher Eccleston). Would highly recommend watching the series if you've not seen it. The first season is very heavy in terms of atmosphere but the show finds its stride in the last two seasons and never missteps. It's an insane, depressing, and beautiful show.

I would really like to be able to rate individual seasons of shows on IMDB

We can rate whole seasons and individual episodes, but not seasons. To me it's kind of hard to rate episodes that act as buildup, and even harder to rate an entire show that has had a recent dip in quality. Seasons pretty much act as their own sequels most of the time and the quality within a season is generally fairly consistent.

Does anybody else feel this way?

[SPOILERS] What is taken from or given by Nissa Nissa?

The old story is: AA has to put a sword into heart of NN to create lightbringer and ...

I am confused about what is in this story the offering/exchange/..?

Some background: I think GoT is about a competition between gods: lord of light (LL) and NK's god. And the great war is a religious war and humans and the dead are just tools. So I now see everything from gods' eyes.

I think the "love, true love" is what makes the story of AA/NN works (not just a hero and his wife). If so it is Jorah who has a true love for Daenerys. Jon and Danny relationship is not deep enough.

What if Jorah has to create lightbringer? Literally, jorah is the one who "came back' (not from death). 3 times.

[COMIC/TV SPOILERS] What do you think they should do/cover in Season 9?

The dream for me is that they cover volume 22-27. I know it's a stretch considering how little they've been adapting lately, but hopefully Angela Kang can change this.

If you're willing to read, here's my sort of idea for the season.

They could start from Magna's perspective - be a great way to introduce how much the world has changed through her new eyes. Have the whole whisperer encounters, maybe Dwight has an encounter with them first and comes to warn Alexandria but has conflict with Daryl before he gets there. Maybe they both can get surrounded and captured in the forest or something.

I'd forget about any teenage love-triangle with Lydia, I'd have it be more of a daughter/parent relationship with Carol or Michonne or even Daryl - finally giving him some more development, actually learning to become some sort of father-figure.

Given Gregory is more of a comedic presence in the show, I'd have some of the townspeople or something try to poison Maggie instead of him. Maybe Gregory can even try to help Maggie and get a redemption arc.

Maybe have a thing about Maggie executing whoever tried to poison her like in the comic. The whole Alpha trades Daryl/Dwight for Lydia, but then maybe Daryl goes after Lydia.

Have the whole Negan cell is open stuff, have the fair, then by the mid-season finale I'd have the Alpha/Rick talk and the whisperer border thing (get rid of a bunch of useless characters here).

Second half of season could deal with the inner-town conflict, Maggie is still losing her way (on a path of vengeance). Rick has to go to Negan for help and starts their army. Maybe even have Gregory train in the army, could have some good ol' Gregory humour there.

It'd be a great time to build up Eugene into the more confident/loyal character he is in the comics. Maybe comes into contact with Stephanie? Have Negan get out of prison as well and meet with whisperers.

I can see them definitely having a full episode of him with the whisperers, and of-course by the end of the episode have him kill Alpha (I'd largely have Alpha be the same sort of character from the comics as well.)

Then have the Beta taking-over stuff, war starting. You could maybe have Gregory be the guy who dies like Gabriel. Build up the saviour threat as well, then by the season finale have the first big fight with the whisperers - Dwight/Michonne/Magna, bunch of others can all fight the first big wave of walkers. I'd love to see them do it just as epic as the Battle of the Bastards with the horses and everything (if amc isn't stingy with their budget).

Gotta have Negan getting Lucille back in the same way. Then end with Beta retreating as they defeat the first wave, then teasing just how many more walkers they really have. Bam! End of season 9.

Of-course there's much more character stuff and all that to fill in but there's heaps of content in these volumes of the comic which would help this season be great. And season 10 could start with a bang with the rest of the war and the saviour stuff and everything. And I'd have Maggie sort of realise that revenge is pointless and that fighting the real threat is what is important (no stupid thing about her being the next big bad-guy). And by the end of the war in season 10 I'd have Daryl dying and sacrificing himself for Lydia or something, wrapping up his arc/character. I think it'd be a fitting end to see such a once rogue character become sort of a father figure by the time he goes.

Anyway, they likely won't cover nearly as much of the comics but I'd love them to do this. I'd love to hear all your thoughts about this and what they should do and your predictions!

Real life situations that never happen or are discussed in The Walking Dead, but I sure wish they were!

I am a huge fan of TWD. Right now, I am re-watching the show in its entirety. A few thoughts cross my mind, about things that never happen, or are discussed, in the show. Real life situations.... Also, I'm a big fan of post-apoc fiction, esp. nuclear scenarios, EMP, or biological. Not so much about zombies though. With the exception of TWD! It's the ONLY zombie show I have ever loved.

Now, onto my thoughts-- please add your own and let's make this a fun discussion!

  1. Ever noticed how NO ONE ever mentions having to go to the bathroom? With the exception of Amy mentioning she had to go pee in S1... No one ever suffers from food poisoning, upset tummies, diarrhea, lack of T.P. or just general bathroom necessities. Even in the books I read, this stuff is never discussed.

  2. Why doesn't anyone try to find a major supplier of foodstuffs? Like a manufacturing plant (Del Monte, for instance) that produces tons of canned foods. I noticed Maggie had mentioned she'd looked in a phone book to find a place to get baby formula, so why not a manufacturing company for food items? Just a thought.... It's what I'D be looking for!!

  3. One thing I also notice is that there is a hell of a lot of firearms being fired, yet no one accidentally gets hurt, per se. It's a minor thing, but something that has crossed my mind....

Please add your own thoughts, I'd love to hear them!

Just finished S1:E6. Reminded why Mike is my favorite character

long read so get comfy

The reason why I liked Mike so much from Breaking Bad was because of his "no bullshit" attitude. He was a professional at what he did and what he did was wrapped in a lot of dirty business. He got the job done with no more or no less than what was requested. IIRC, Walter was begging Mike to spare his life in one scene and Mike responded with a roll of the eyes explaining that he had a job to do, completely detached from any emotion that might come with it. But despite his field of work, he was always able to put everything away and dust himself off in time to play with his granddaughter, who seemed to be the only thing good and pure in his life. But there was the mother who always kept a watchful eye over him spending time with the granddaughter, always making sure he didn't spend too much time with her. Exit Breaking Bad (with a lot of missing details about him).

Enter Better Call Saul's S1:E6. Here, we see a diversion from the main storyline that can better explain Mike's story for the hardcore Breaking Bad fans. We learn that Mike was on the force in Philadelphia for 30 years, a noble position in contrast to what he was up to in Breaking Bad. We learn that he had a son Matty who followed in Mike's footsteps and became a cop because he put Mike on a pedestal. But we soon find out that Mike's police work wasn't all that clean, but only for the sake of protection for his own family, for a young Matty.

The saddest part of the episode was when Mike reveals that he explained the harsh reality of police work to Matty and convinced Matty to follow follow suit for his own safety. Although disappointed in his father and feeling lied to, Matty takes the money from a fellow cop and gets killed anyways. A lose-lose for Mike: poisoned his son who was the cop that Mike never was and he got killed regardless.

The mother mentioned in the episode that the granddaughter still asks where her father is, still kept unaware of his fate. Mike turns over a new leaf in Breaking Bad and keeps his demons in check this time around in order to be present and a loving role to his granddaughter.

TL;DR Mike has such a deep story, but his quiet nature in comparison to the rest of the characters shows that he'd never tell it to you.

Mine is 'Truth' by Ramin Djawadi. It's a soundtrack of S7(E7).It's high notes never fail to goosebump me.For me it actually speaks more than a worded song. It's just beautiful.

[FUTURE SPOILERS] The letter written to Dwight

As Dwight is looking for Sherryl he sees the letter with "D" written on it and "Honeymoon" on the other side which you can easily tell that it was written by the same person BUT the infinity sign however you can also clearly see that it was NOT written by the same person. Sheryl has been captured by whoever wrote the infinity sign but she decides to stay with them for a reason that no one is really talking about. What caused Sheryl to have the guts to let Darryl go and escape the sanctuary? Something must of trigger her to make that decision. In season 7 she was getting treated by a doctor to check if she was.. PREGNANT! I believe she finds out that she is pregnant by Negans baby and didn't wanted negan raising her baby and that's what trigger Sherryl to leave. Time will go by later on and we will meet this new enemy and we will meet little negan. How they connect those stories should be pretty good. Looking forward to season 9.

No one mentioned Michael McKeans good show on Cooking Network

Or maybe it was, but I just saw the promo for Michael McKeans show "Food: Fact or Fiction" Sunday's at 10 on Cooking Network. It makes total sense because Chuck was always cooking in his kitchen before he got sick.

Has anyone else noticed how Walt takes his drinks?

I've noticed that whenever he is drinking with his family (like Hank), he takes his drinks on the rocks, but neat whenever he's alone or with work associates. I just thought it was an interesting detail to show just how split his two personalities are.

Why did TWD drop in quality after season 6?

A lot of people were talking about TWD slow decline, but it feels like it hit a rock wall right at the very last minute of season 6 and the show suddenly went from pretty good to simply bad. Did the writers change, did they ran out of plot or what?

[SPOILERS] The Night's Rewatch S03E10: Mhysa, I Am The King!

It's the season finale of season 3, and we need a moment to recuperate after a certain wedding. Sam meets Bran, briefly, to guide him through the wall, and Danaerys has perhaps the least interesting conquest in she show when the slaves all walk out and praise her immediately. That annoys the crap out of me. It's just so simple for her!

My name is Kirsten Acuna, and I'm an entertainment correspondent who covers "The Walking Dead" — AMA about reporting on the show, interviewing cast/crew, and theories about what's next.

Hi /r/thewalkingdead! My name is Kirsten Acuna and I’m an entertainment correspondent at INSIDER covering Disney, Marvel, and all things The Walking Dead.

I started watching the show during season two and have been a fan since. I’ve binge read all of Robert Kirkman’s comics in 2012 and read each new issue monthly as they come out. I started writing about the show for Business Insider in 2013 and have attended the series’ panels at both San Diego Comic-Con and New York Comic Con several years over.

This was the first year I’ve been able to go full head-on in my coverage as a writer. This season, I’ve had the pleasure of speaking with [Austin Amelio](http://www.thisisinsider.com/walking\-dead\-season\-8\-austin\-amelio\-interview\-2017\-10\) (Dwight), [Katelyn Nacon](http://www.thisisinsider.com/walking\-dead\-enid\-reacts\-to\-carl\-death\-2018\-3\) (Enid), [Steven Ogg](http://www.thisisinsider.com/walking\-deads\-steven\-ogg\-interview\-2018\-4\) (Simon), [Seth Gilliam](http://www.thisisinsider.com/the\-walking\-dead\-is\-father\-gabriel\-bit\-2017\-11\) (Father Gabriel), [Chandler Riggs](http://www.thisisinsider.com/walking\-dead\-carl\-death\-chandler\-riggs\-interview\-2018\-2\) (Carrrrl), [Pollyanna McIntosh](http://www.thisisinsider.com/walking\-dead\-pollyanna\-mcintosh\-interview\-2018\-4\), [Jayne Atkinson](http://www.thisisinsider.com/walking\-dead\-who\-is\-georgie\-2018\-3\) (Georgie), and [Greg Nicotero](http://www.thisisinsider.com/amc\-the\-walking\-dead\-why\-carl\-died\-2018\-2\). (I think that’s all of them!)

Now that season eight is over, I’m looking forward to see where the show goes next, especially with a new showrunner. So let’s talk Negan, Richonne, Lauren Cohan’s return, [that mysterious helicopter](http://www.thisisinsider.com/the\-walking\-dead\-helicopter\-2017\-11\), [and Heath](http://www.thisisinsider.com/the\-walking\-dead\-where\-is\-heath\-2017\-3\).

You can follow allowing with my coverage of “The Walking Dead” on [INSIDER’s website](http://www.thisisinsider.com/\) or follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Reddit. I’m also on Twitter - [@KirstenAcuna](https://twitter.com/KirstenAcuna\) - and live tweet commentary and reactions during the show.

Just noticed a neat in universe detail.

As we're all aware in S3E2 Walt famously throws a pizza on to the roof of his house. Funny gesture, in line with the spiraling family masculinity crisis Walt is facing at the time.

But wait one moment. Who the hell sells uncut pizza? Just big greasy wheel of sliceless bread. What madness is this? Shortly after watching that episode I forgot about this question completely. As season 3 was happening to me. And well... that's true stress.

This was all several years ago but just yesterday my roommate was watching S4E2 (the one where Jesse throws a big sad party) early in the episode he commissions Badger and Skinny Pete to get pizzas for this fated fiesta. They return shortly after with uncut pizza, moreover uncut pizza in a white box bearing a picture of Italy and the words "Venezia's Pizza" The same pizza in S3E2. Badger goes on to explain: "This place, they don't cut there pizza and they pass the savings on to you."

I realize this has been noticed before but I just love how rich the world of Breaking Bad is. It's all so strange in a sort of 1-degree away from normal way.

Just finished Season 2

I gave the first season a shot and I thought it was okay but mostly boring so I stopped watching after that. But it’s my brother’s favourite show of all time and a lot of people rave about it so I thought it was worth “forcing” myself into. And man am I glad I did.

Season 2 was amazing. I loved how psychologically intense it was, I cringed throughout most of the season because of all the times Walter lied to Skyler. It was so hard to watch and it was even harder to watch her pretend to believe his lies.

I loved Jesse’s story with Jane, it was really messed up what happened to her. I think Jesse ruined her tbh, she had her life together till he came along. And I understand why Walter let her die but the right thing to do was save her.

I don’t know what it is about Hank but he’s probably my least favourite, he tends to be annoying.

I can’t pick a favourite episode because they were all so good but the scene where Walt had to get the drugs from Jesse’s house and also visit his wife at the hospital was so intense, I felt like I was Walt in that moment.

I’m still confused on the flashforward in black and white and the ending scene with something exploding and then a bear flying from the sky, I’m sure they’ll explain that next season.

Overall the season was amazing. It was so well developed in a way that made it seem very real and believable, it’s a very morally grey show and I really like that. So glad I stuck with it, it’s one of my favourites already.

But Saul's first episode of Breaking Bad when he's brought out to the desert he says "It was Nacho" .

I think this is a huge tie in, I think Nacho is working for Gus and will be killed by the Cartel at the end of BCS

What do you think they'll do with Jadis going into Season 9 (and beyond)?

She's pretty much a blank slate so I love speculating about how she could possibly fit into the events of New Beginning and all of the storylines to follow. I can very easily see her lasting for the long haul, especially since we only really just met 'Anne' in 8B (up until that point we were following along her facade as 'Jadis')

The most obvious scenario is that she becomes a loyal soldier to Rick and a valued member of the community during the two year time-jump. She could also adapt some of Comic Carl's material like talking to Negan in his cell (I dunno who else would really be appropriate for that outside of Rick). With her connection to the helicopter too, I wouldn't be surprised if she and her former heapsters were exiled members of the Commomwealth who provide for the community on the outside (maybe with their eccentric crafts) in exchange for food. That would explain Georgie (assuming she's a remixed Pamela) randomly traveling from Ohio all the way to Virginia.

[SPOILERS] Theories on the Night King

So today I will be asking a very interesting question and that is, what your theories on who the Night King is? Who do you believe is the identity of the Night King? Personally I believe he is one of three people:

  • Proto-Stark: as in he is some sort of descendent of House Stark.

  • Proto-Stargaryen/the first child of ice and fire: so this is a theory I have and that is the Night King is the first child of ice and fire long before Jon and that a Targ came to westeros before Aegon and made love with a Decendent of House Stark, it would explain how the Night King is able to control the ice dragon this season.

  • The Night's King of legend/13th Lord Commander: this theory is alittle crazy but this is sort of a counter theory I have to my Proto-Stargaryen theory, basically the person in the cave drawings and in the flashback from S6 is NOT the Night King we see in the show, the person from the cave drawings and whom we saw get turned was Bael the Bard and the Night King we see is his son and also the Night's King of legend/the 13th Lord commander with the legends about him being build on lies. Another way to look at it though is he is the original Azor Ahai/The Last Hero and had later become the Night's King/13th Lord Commander.

...or rather, the actor, looks so much like young Johnny Deep is suppose to? I mean in s4e2 when he was hurt and Madison ran by with her car he even acted a bit like Johnny Depp does in pirates of the Caribbean, the walk, the pose, the stare...

[SPOILERS] What was mance's plan after he got over the wall. THey didn't have horses or good armor/weapons. What did they think they would do after going over the wall?

As you seen stannis calvary smashed mance's army pretty easy. Which is what would've happened if mance got over the wall. The first decent army that came would destroy. Was he just winging it or what? And how come they never tried to slowly make peace. Houses always need more men for their armies. i'm sure they could've gotten some houses to take their fighters in trade for land and "citizenship". And I wonder why they did this for so many years, why did they never try to make peace over all these years.
