(Season 2)Why did Randall tell Daryl about his group?

So Daryl was beating Randall up, he told him they had 30 men, had weapons thats totally fine, I get it he was tortured but why was he so creepy about everything else? Why did he tell them about the rape? Why even tell them about Maggie?

Is he supposed to be this stupid? A few lies and he would have gotten out of there alive, even shutting his dumb mouth would have sufficed. Was he just a tool to push Shane over the edge?
