I think the title "Lantern" was intended to provoke fan theories about Chuck's fate

Vince and Peter mentioned that the "FRING'S BACK" anagram in Season 2's titles was something they hadn't expected fans to pick up on as quick as they did. Knowing this, they may have picked the title "Lantern" as a way of suggesting Chuck may die without outright stating he would.

That way, throughout the episode, the viewer has the expectation he may die at the end, which allows the season finale to serve as a great sendoff for the character of Chuck (Howard buying him out, the applause scene, his final parting blow to Jimmy). When the house catches fire, it's not surprising, but rather seems sadly inevitable (as Chuck's character arc had been completed).

Semi-spoiling the ending in the title was a gamble, but the episode was executed so well that I think it was utilized perfectly.

EDIT: I also interpreted the cold open as strongly implying his death.
