Why did Chuck tell Jimmy that he never cared about him?

Was a bit confused about that. I understand he disliked his brother for many good reasons but it's a statement that just can't be true. I have a feeling the mental illness was truly taking over but I don't know.

Scandal is one of the dumbest shows I've ever watched.

My wife started watching this a while ago, and I watched episodes here and there throughout the run of the series on Netflix, and after a while, I asked her how she can keep watching it.

"Sometimes you just gotta watch trash. It's basically a bad soap opera."

But seriously. This show starts with a group of political operatives who are basically glorified dirt diggers on politicians, and it escalates to Kerry Washington's character's dad being a leader of a private military organization who kills people, rigs elections, hacks into countries, etc., and her mother being the most dangerous terrorist in America that no one knows about.

It's a classic Shonda Rhimes show, really. Instead of having plots that organically move the show along, everyone just double crosses each other, people get killed and brought back, everyone sleeps with each other, new family members are brought in from nowhere, blah blah blah. It is seriously a soap opera.

The acting is incredibly overdone; the worst offenders are Olivia, her dad, Cyrus, and Mr. Frowny Face that does all the computer hacking. They are always screaming when there's no need to. It's like every episode has to have someone having an Oscar Moment.

It's like She (Shonda) watched a season of post-Sorkin West Wing and some episodes of 24 and thought, "hey, I can do that!" But it fails in every way. I do not understand how she is revered in the television world. She producers primetime soaps.

It's just a garbage show.

Just finished season 3 and wow 👌🏼 [spoilers]

Just finished it up. The first thing I have to say is that Troy deserved a WAY better death than that. He was too interesting and compelling of a character to go out like a common walker. Didn't like that. Otherwise the season awesome excluding any scene with Jermiah or Jake 😴. Salazar is probably my favorite character at this point 🔫 along with Alicia (although she can be distractingly hot in some scenes).. Madison is a great lead. Don't care for Nick. Strand is getting repetitive. Just some thoughts I had. Season 2 & 3 of this show kept me addicted like seasons 1-4 of TWD. Good stuff. Now I have to decide if I should hop into season 4 or catch up with TWD (I stopped watching a few seasons back).

I just finished Longmire. Spoilers below.

I just finished watching Longmire finally after putting off the last two episodes for half a year, since November.

What an incredible show. I had a talk with my buddy and he said the ending left him going what? Why? I don’t feel that way. I think it was interesting that the ending left us with Cady for Sheriff, and Longmire quitting, I think I would have preferred Zac[k] he was one of if not my favorite characters. I’m glad they came back and brought him back as a deputy, he was a very solid addition to the show.

The love connection at the end with Walt and Vic, was also very good.

Malachi was a very convincing villain, I felt real hatred for his actions throughout the show. Nighthorse was also very entertaining.

Henry was awesome as Walt’s best friend. I don’t think the show would have been nearly as interesting without him.

Overall, I think the show was very well done. I have very little to gripe about, if anything. Maybe Walt’s continued onsession towards Nighthorse. That always kind of annoyed me. Also, killing Conally [Branch] was deeply saddening because I really enjoy his character and the turn around he had after running for Sheriff, and then quickly catching up to his fathers doings. His death had real impact, to me.

Once again, absolutely solid show. Very well done. Solid ending. 10/10 I feel. Very awesome show.

What do you guys think?

Howard is actually a pretty stand up guy.

I think this holds especially true in the first season, but it seems to me that Howard was actually always a pretty stand up guy, while Jimmy was the immoral one. The difference between the two is that Howard was not a likable person: stiff, corporate, loyal to Chuck. Jimmy on the other hand is totally likeable and has a good heart, but his moral compass was always off.

He clearly admired Jimmy's work ethic and probably would have even offered him a job as a lawyer but his loyalty to Chuck precluded that, and he essentially played the "bad guy" for Chuck by being the one to directly clash with Jimmy.

Howard was never a bad guy, never did anything unethical, only wanted what was best for the firm and by extension what was best for Chuck. He clearly wanted to do good by his clients and follow the rules. Running the firm well meant good things for both clients and employees. He does come off as a dick a little bit to Kim in season 3, unfortunately, but definitely in season one he is clearly a good guy being painted very bad to great effect by the shows creators.

Vince Gilligan seems to be a master at toying with the audience's attitudes towards characters-the evil characters are sympathetic, the good characters are sometimes unlikable, and in Chuck's case he is duplicitous but suffering from a horrible mental illness so in some ways deserve our sympathy.

The walking dead games should be turned into movies

I believe the twd games have enough content in 20 episodes (I’m including season 4) to fit into life action movies. picture it I want you too imagine the cannibal scene in season 1 or the scene in the caravan in season 2 it would be gripping. If done correctly it could be edge of your seat and spectacular cinema. The only problem is how do you portray a multiple choice game and I say that’s easy the most popular choices and outcomes. And i know just the man to direct it frank darabont he could mend his ties with the series and make some great content in the process, as for the cast I think there should be ONE big name and the rest be relative unknowns. My one true concern is finding someone to play lee, Dave fennoy did such a great performance I’m not sure who could take his place. Who would you cast because that part I’m stumped on

Why Did Negan Only Shave Once?

It kinda bothered me that Negan grew out a beard AGAIN after he shaved in season 7. Why not just keep having him shave instead of having him grow a beard again for no reason. In season 8 I get it because he was part of a “war”, but season 7 life was just easy breezing. So what gives?

The Walking Dead isn't a bad show, it just shouldn't be watched one episode per week.

I just finished a rewatch of seasons 3 through 8. Prior to this I had watched the entire show all the way up to and including the S8 finale week by week; as episodes were released, one episode at a time.

Before this rewatch I felt the same way many of you do about the current state of The Walking Dead. Among other things, I felt that the Saviors arc was dragging on, I was underwhelmed by Carl's death, I didn't care about the newer characters/storylines and I could barely be bothered keeping track of who everyone was, their motivations and what they were up to. I was watching the show because I had always watched it, not because I enjoyed it.

I urge anyone who feels this way to go back and watch TWD as a long post-apocalyptic movie instead of a weekly episodic TV drama.

Consuming episodes when you want to for as long as you want to genuinely changes the show. Everything is much clearer and more satisfying as you're not forced to interpret everything in weekly bite sized segments and context for what the characters are up to is regularly reinforced.

The plot is tight and nicely paced when there aren't cliffhangers every 5 seconds. Little things I missed or forgot during my initial watch now had impact and I found myself not being so bothered by episodes that I had originally disliked during my first viewing.

Did Carl have to die? Maybe not, but Carl's death was used as the catalyst for Rick's transformation, it gave him a reason to save Negan; It pushed the story forward and helped characters evolve.

Did the Saviors need to take up 2 full seasons? Probably not, but I did enjoy the vast majority of their story and by the end of this rewatch I found myself as invested in the Saviours as I was in the Survivors.

The occasional cringey moments and the eps that focused wholly on boring settlements like Hilltop, Kingdom and Oceanside became smaller issues because I wasn't being forced to watch one 45 minute chunk of the TWD per week.

Because the show was constantly moving forward I wasn't lingering on aspects of it that bothered me for a week at a time. Those moments were what they were and there was always something new to focus on if i was left feeling underwhelmed by something that had happened.

In conclusion, TWD isn't perfect, but I think it deserves more credit than we give it. The final scene of S8 was a great way to bookend everything that's happened so far, and I'm interested to see what's in store for S9, even if it is Rick's last season.

Can Better Call Saul Surpass Breaking Bad In Quality?

Since BCS hasn’t finished yet, I’ll compare the first three seasons of B.B. to the first three seasons of BCS. Here’s how my ranking goes:

BCS S1 vs. BB S1: BCS

BCS S2 vs. BB S2: BB

BCS S3 vs. BB S3: Tricky, but I’ll say they’re on par with each other.

So, what do you think? What do you like/dislike about B.B compared to BCS and vice versa? And do you think BCS could be better than its predecessor? Personally, judging by the first three seasons of each show, I think they’re equally good.

Hey, rewatching Br Ba, in s03e08 where near the end of episode when the cousin dies in hospital, we see Mike leaving the hospital and putting something on a counter. Searching for it on reddit I found out it's supposed to be a needle with poison that he injected in one of the cousins. Is that true? How the hell could he see that without anyone noticing, wasn't the place crowded and any non hospital staff member would be a red alert if entering that room?

BCS Rewatch - S2E3 (Amarillo) Discussion Thread

Discuss whatever you want below. All BrBa and BCS spoilers are allowed.

In case you can't watch today and want a refresher, plot:

Jimmy tries to use the standard mailing strategy with little success, due to the elderly clients either ignoring the letters or Sandpiper intercepting their mail. Instead, Jimmy comes up with the idea of filming a targeted television ad, since the Sandpiper residents set aside one hour of free time to watch television. Cliff Main is intrigued by Jimmy's idea and promises to talk to him more about it when he returns from a week-long business trip. Jimmy then views D&M's previous television ad (a mesothelioma ad), but finds it dull and lacking "showmanship." Instead, Jimmy independently films his own ad, hiring the camera crew he previously used for the billboard stunt to depict one of his elderly clients as a poor old woman being victimized by Sandpiper Crossing and urging Sandpiper Crossing residents viewing the commercial to call D&M. Kim is impressed with Jimmy's work, and Jimmy decides to run the ad without the firm's approval. It is a massive success, with D&M gaining over a hundred clients in a single day. However, Main is furious upon finding out that Jimmy released the ad without consulting him or the partners first and demands an explanation from him. Jimmy then lies to Kim about the setback.

Meanwhile, Stacey voices her concerns to Mike about gunshots she has heard over the past two nights, and that the police have done nothing about them. Mike does over-night surveillance without Stacey's knowledge. He later finds out that the "gunshots" were apparently the sound of newspapers hitting the sidewalk as they were being delivered. With the case apparently closed, Mike decides to leave. At work the following morning, Mike is called back by Stacey. At the house, she says there were three more gunshots the night before and points out a hole in her siding that she tearfully insists is from a bullet. Despite knowing that there were no gunshots, Mike tells Stacey what she wants to hear - that he will help her get out of the neighborhood. Mike then meets the vet, who offers Mike a lucrative job as an enforcer for a loan shark, which pays better than bodyguard jobs. Mike declines, as he is not interested in performing any more illegal work, especially work that requires him to hurt or kill others. The vet then points out to Mike that if he wants "next level pay", he must be willing to do "next level work." Mike later receives a call from the vet, who tells him about a job offer whose client specifically requested Mike. Mike goes to meet the client, who is revealed to be Nacho, and they discuss what seems like a "hit" on some "guy".

Alright, get talking!

What was your biggest "I can't believe they actually did that" moment from a TV show?

To be more clear, what sort of things pushed the boundaries of what you expected from a television program in terms of content, narrative, or treatment?

For example:

  • In season four (I think) of 24, the heroes we've been following throughout the series simply fail rather than succeeding at the last moment or in spite of terrible odds, and a terrorist cell successfully nukes Los Angeles.

  • In HBO's Girls, there was a sequence where a character was shown with semen splattered all over her naked chest. Never saw that on TV before.

What things like these have stood out to you in certain shows? Which shows are (or were) daring to try something different or uncomfortable?

Better way for the story to go?

I’m thinking it would have been better to replace Glenn with Daryl in early season 6 rather than have Daryl ride around on his motorcycle for no reason. He could show once and for all that he’s changed by trying to lead the Alexandrians back. He could fall off the dumpster and actually die with no retarded fake-out. This also clears the way for Dwight, as having two VERY similar characters is a little bit of a detriment. Now we have Glenn meet Dwight in the woods instead of Daryl, as I think Glenn would be more likely to return the bag after he saw the insulin. Glenn goes on the run with Denise and meets Dwight again. This happens after Glenn pulled his first human kill in 6x12 so it would reinforce that he has to change with the world. (Him being so trusting with Dwight leads to Denise’s death). Instead of being captured by the saviors because of Daryl’s hotheadedness he goes with the rest of the group out of concern for Maggie. Abraham dies and, with no Daryl, Glenn survives and goes to the hilltop with Maggie. This avoids the Daryl Prison plot which really went nowhere. We could still have sanctuary episodes but following Dwight and Negan exclusively. This also means Daryl isn’t around to lead a mutiny and drive a garbage truck

A Message To All of You Crazy Entitled Cliffhanger Haters

Yes you, lol Not completely sure why I see so many people on here always crying about the cliffhanger at the end of s6 basically introducing Negan IMO it was a great plot device to make Negan look way more badass and add suspense until the next season. It makes sense and was a great ending to S6..Rick was so confident in the final episode of S6, his initial interactions there with Simon are some of my favorite scenes from all of the Walking Dead..Rick telling them he wanted to take all their stuff, but didnt need to kill any, ect., however by the end of the episode we see the group and them in basically the worst spot we've ever seen them, On their knees, totally helpless It gave a huge sense of foreboding, especially for people who hadn't read the comics and didn't know what's coming..At that time I hadn't read the comics yet, so it made it all that much better.

Then in S7X01 we see Negan basically introduced and he breaks down Rick in a way never seen. Pretty good episode as well and the killing of Glenn albeit sucked because Glenn was an awesome amazing character, was really cool though and made Negan seem all that much worse, stronger, and crazier

So to all the big time haters not really understanding your sad crying gripes but maybe you're just entitled and think you could have done so much better than one of the still highest rated TV shows of all time..lol..!!!!!!!

[SPOILERS] A Theory/Prediction for Arya and Gendry

TL;DR warning, So anyways today I wanted to give you all my full proof for why I believe if Arya ends up with anyone (yes that is an IF) it will be Gendry, Yes I believe that IF Arya ends up being with anyone I believe it will be the blacksmith Gendry. So let’s get started:

  • Okay so first one of the interesting themes that people miss is that most of the romances in the Story (the Healthy Ones by the way) have always been between a highborn and a lowborn. Jon and Ygritte, Sam and Gilly, to some extent Tyrion and Shae, Robb and Talisa (sorry if I butchered the name (though yes I am aware her character is extremely different in the books)), and finally Tormund and the bear that ate his private area off that may or may not be Maege Mormont (though if it was Maege Mormont that will probably be a book only thing). You could also argue Lyanna is not as highborn compared to the man, the myth, the legend, Rhaegar Targaryen, Same Argument for Ned and Cat….Kindof (I say kindof because technically they are both from Highborn families even though Tully’s aren’t really as big as a house as house Stark it’s hard to explain), And Arya is a highborn while Gendry is a lowborn. Arya has also lived amongst lowborns most of her life as well.
  • Also Arya is said to look like Lyanna
  • It was stated awhile ago I think that Gendry was brought back for a very important role, Now this will probably be forging Steel needed to fight the others and the wights but I think it could be for another reason, and that reason could be a possible romance with Arya.
  • In Season 3 Arya stats that she can be his family and Gendry replies no you would be my lady. Okay so this can be seen as evidence on it’s own but also if you bring in the fact that Maisie Williams (the actress who plays Arya) was told to say it as if she was telling Gendry she loves him.
  • Also fair to mention Arya had obviously checked out Gendry at Harrenhal when he had his shirt off (God I wish I had Abs like that) and also Apparently In the books Gendry watched Arya pee (or was it the other way around, I don’t know if that is true though so if someone can confirm this would be grateful).
  • This come full circle with Robert’s line in S1 that he had a son, Ned had a daughter, and they would join houses. Except rather then it being Sansa and Joffrey (Ugh, even saying his name makes me want to punch that little blonde brat in the face) it would be through Arya and Gendry.
  • Also if Jon ends up dying in battle and Dany dies in Childbirth (NOT saying that is there fates just saying out of example sake) then maybe Arya a Stark and Gendry a Baratheon could raise the targaryen children of Jon and Dany
  • Gendry would also be in my opinion a fair husband and let Arya be whom she wants to be and not be forced into the role of a lady
  • Also it come full circle with Robert betrothal to Lyanna.
  • Now you are probably wondering why I see Gendry as a better fit and not Jon, Well a few reasons actually, and before you start YES I am aware Gendry is a around the same age as Jon and all that other stuff in the books that implies Jonrya but let me explain my two wait no three things going against Jonrya. For one Jon and Arya grew up believing they were brother and sister meaning even if they were revealed to be cousins they would still not act on Incest, secondly There is nor real setup for Arya and Jon in the show, if there was more forshadowing to it I could see it being a possible thing. But they didn’t, and finally isn’t it alittle convenient that Jon is a Targ like his father and Arya is said to look like Lyanna….What I am trying to say is that the idea of Jon and Arya getting together is a red herring created by GRRM with all the parallels between it and Rhaegar and Lyanna and also the fact the GRRM himself scrapped the idea before making the final version of the series. It would make more sense story wise if Arya ended up with Gendry (IF she decides to hook up with anyone anyways)
  • Speaking of age we got to talk about the elephant in the room, The Age difference. Arya is much younger then Gendry though back then I don’t really think it matter (well okay I can imagine there is a certain age were there too young to be married off back then but still though, Woman did get married at very young ages back then, NOT saying it was right but it was common), another thing is Arya in the show. Now I think they did not only age up Arya in the show (as she looks alittle older then her book counterpart and the actress who plays her is literally 21 years old) but also look at the way the present Arya in S7 when she whined out to spray with Brienne, the way it was shot kindof seemed like the person had a change in style (obviously because she is in actual fighting gear) but also the fact that…Okay is it me or is Arya starting to stand out alittle more, as in she’s starting to look more pretty (I mean Hot Pie said it himself).
  • Yes the actor who plays Gendry has stated that he feels uncomfortable on the subject of Arya/Gendry hook up but A lot the actors probably had to play out uncomfortable scenes or scenes that made them uncomfortable. Also Maisie has stated she is a fan of the Arya and Gendry shipping
  • I feel there relationship would be very healthy and non-incestous. Also the fact they were friends the last they saw each other.
  • Ned stated that she would marry a king and rule his castle, in the show they change it too you will marry a High Lord and rule his castle though this could still mean Arya could marry the King (Gendry) and rule his castle, And in the show Arya could somehow become queen and marry the High Lord of Storm’s end (Gendry) and rule his castle.

[SPOILERS] A theory on Arya and Gendry

So anyways today I wanted to give you all my full proof for why I believe if Arya ends up with anyone (yes that is an IF) it will be Gendry, Yes I believe that IF Arya ends up being with anyone I believe it will be the blacksmith Gendry.

[SPOILERS] - GOT slightly edited youtube vids

I'm looking for Game of Thrones memes, not the supercut or the full on meme compilation or the "on CRACK" series. I saw it ages ago, they don't get any more than 100k views a vid but I can't find them. It's basically, no actual memes or anything, it could just be people in a room and the clip keeps playing of them staring at each other kind of a thing, but it's hilarious. Has anyone seen them? I've been searching for days..

Just finished the series (i know im late)

wow i just finished this series and im fucking spechless

I just can't decide if i love or hate walter white, he did it just for him but he wanted his family to be happy and the scene where he calls walter jr. and he is like "just die already!!" wow i was so sorry for walter, i dont think any father should hear this from their children.

i can't tell ya if i think jesse is a victim, he did many horrible things but many of them was walter's manipulation , im sad he realized this too late, the scene where he try to scape and they kill the girl he likes is just sad, BUT still, i cant hate walt because in the end he jumped in from of him to save pinkman from the bullets (you see that? i hate and love this man!! i dont understand their relationship but i love it)

I am so freaking sad about hank, the whole scene i was like "FUCK YOU WW ITS YOUR FAULT YOU FUCKING MONSTER" but then they kill him and walter is crying so bad that i feel sorry for him? The acting is so good and believable wow

like, hank was about to get him but still walter tried his best to keep him alive... i dont know i think im being manipulated too haha

Man i dont know how to feel about this finale lmao, did you guys feel the same after finifhing this?
i can't really form a opinion about mr white, such a complex character.

it was great and this is the best show i have ever watch.

(sorry, bad english cause im not a native speaker)

[SPOILERS] In your opinion, how many seasons of the show are left there?

You all guys know that things have not been great for the show lately. In my opinion, the decision to kill Carl was crucial. They wanted to shock the viewers and fix the ratings but they couldn't predict someone that important as Andrew Lincoln could possibly leave. They don't have anyone decent to hand the main character role and Daryl is the worst option and I'm not sure if I have to explain it to anyone. They don't have the main character and they lost a bunch of other important figures. The ratings keep going down and they will go lower after Rick's death or leaving for sure. So what do you think? Will be the 9th season the last one or there are more seasons to come out?

Re-reading the live watch threads, I'm amazed (and a bit grossed out) at the mental gymnastics people did to justify Walt's actions.

Dean Norris got it right. Rewatching the show now, I'm struck with how disgusted I am by Walt and by how much I sympathize with Skyler and consider Hank to be the unambiguous moral center of the show (despite his transgressions, he never "breaks bad"). The lies Walt tells to himself to absolve himself from his sins sometimes make me visibly cringe.

The fact that there even was a "Team Walt" is a testament to how skilled a writer Vince Gilligan is (and how wonderfully Bryan Cranston can make you want to have a beer with a character and punch him afterwards). Someone even said they cheered when he told Jesse that he watched Jane die. I don't even...

Walt's a disgusting monster and deserved to die, and I'm honestly astonished at how many people disagreed in 2013 (or still disagree now).

Submitted June 30, 2018 at 07:03AM by joemcrhee https://ift.tt/2tEQUOG

Why didn't Rick look for other family/friends in the early episodes?

Of course Lori and Carl would be his priorities. However, it's always seemed to me that Rick didn't think of anyone else once he was out of the hospital. I can't decide if that's just showing how much of a family man he was, or an oversight. There's Shane, for one. Plus as I recall Rick does briefly mention other family members throughout the course of the series.

This isn't really a important question, just something I've always wondered. I think if I woke up out of a coma into that situation, I'd want to find anybody I was close to. (Sorry if you just saw this post a minute ago. I was removed by an automod for using the words "anyone else" in the title lmao)

The New Key Art Should Not Surprise Us

Hey guys,

When I saw the new key art for season 4, I was obviously hyped up for the new season, but then I realized that we shouldn't be so surprised by this "facade" that Jimmy puts on. I made a post over a year ago (that can be found at the bottom of this post), but basically it details what I think is the most powerful scene in this show. It's when Jimmy picks up a phone call at the end of Season 1 Episode 7. At the close of this episode, Jimmy is defeated and sitting on the floor of a new office space he was considering leasing with Kim. He just finished releasing a bunch of anger and gets a phone call. He takes a moment, picks it up and says "Law offices of James M. McGill Esq., how may I direct your call?" in a cheerful tone and the episode ends.

The reason I am so impressed by this show and the writing staff is that we were fed this clue so early on in the show. When I saw it, I immediately thought that this would be a defining characteristic that Jimmy possesses--an ability to "Switch" on a persona, despite how he truly feels.

[SPOILERS] Did Tywin ever find out

What I mean by is NOT if he ever found out about Aerys possible taking "liberty's" on his wife which I believed happened but did he ever find out that his cupbearer at Harrenhal was Arya Stark? And if he did find out would he mind? I always thought with how cunning he is that he suspected she was A girl and more importantly was Arya, but weather or not he would've cut her some slack and try to end the war by giving her back to the Starks...i highly doubt that but who knows.

Marie, her hair, and the colour Purple *SPOILERS*

Throughout the show, Marie's theme has consistently been purple. Has anyone else noticed that in the last phone call between Skyler amd Marie that there is considerably less purple. Also we see her hair is up, when it is consistently down throughout the episodes.

Could it be that it was Hank that liked purple, so Marie wore and decorated with his favorite colour, and wore her hair down for him; and once he was gone she shifted back to her previous preferences?

Of note, orange and yellow are contrasting colours in the colour wheel, and are typically Hank's theme colours.

[Spoilers] The Crossroads Decision

I don't think there is any decision that is more maligned and misunderstood among the fandom than the one Catelyn made at the Crossroads Inn. The one where she arrests Tyrion. It is widely regarded as the beginning of the end for House Stark and Catelyn is blamed for it because, according to a lot of fandom, she played right into Littlefinger's hands by making a stupid, impetuous decision with no regard for consequences. And even if House Stark had prevailed, people still blame her for all the death and destruction caused by the war because they see the consequences here as both necessary and foreseeable.

Now, I've argued against this assessment quite a few point, but here I'd like to point out 3 major aspects in which the fans get it wrong. 3 things that people mostly take for granted, but where a deeper examination of the story reveals that the opposite is true.

Catelyn played right into Littlefinger's hands: For some reason, quite a few people seem to believe that LF knew that Catelyn would arrest Tyrion and that's why he named him as the owner of the blade. This is completely incorrect.

To begin with, Tyrion's arrest could've only happened in that specific set of circumstances - they had to meet at the Crossroads Inn surrounded by Tully bannermen and Tyrion had to recognize her. The chances of that were a million to one. Unless LF is a greenseer, he could not have known that this would happen. Catelyn herself showed absolutely no inclination to confront Tyrion before he recognized her. Had they simply passed each-other on the road, nothing would've happened. Its simply impossible that LF could've planned for this.

But did Cat still play into his hands? Did LF catch a lucky break here? I'd argue the opposite. Baelish lied about the dagger - so its in his best interest that the Starks simply believe him but don't pursue the investigation any further. This chance meeting had the potential to unravel all his schemes. Had Ned not been wounded and Robert returned from the hunt, the truth about the dagger would've come to light and Baelish would be done. Catelyn meeting Tyrion was actually a very unlucky break for him - one that had to be counterbalanced with the lucky break of Robert's death.

Catelyn made an instinctive, impetuous choice based on her emotions: Catelyn haters love to paint her as irrational, emotional and short-sighted and this action of hers is one they love to point to as an example. But was this decision really that irrational?

Consider how well she executes the arrest despite having no any time to plan it - securing her fathers' bannermen's overwhelming support to get it done without any bloodshed. These are not actions of an impetuous woman.

And the arrest itself wasn't her first instinct. Look at these bits from the chapter:

“Oh, gods,” Ser Rodrik said before Catelyn reached out to silence him, her fingers tightening hard around his forearm.

The dwarf had not so much as glanced toward the far end of the room, and Catelyn was thinking how grateful she was for the crowded benches between them

His mismatched eyes considered the singer briefly, started to move away…and found Catelyn. He looked at her for a moment, puzzled. She turned her face away, but too late. The dwarf was smiling.

If only the man had lingered at the Wall, she thought, if only…

Clearly, Catelyn is trying to hide and avoid being recognized here. And for good reason. Ned is deep in Lannister territory and investigating them. It'd not serve at all for Lannisters to know that he is onto them - they might kill him like they killed Jon Arryn. Once Tyrion got back with the story of Cat's secret visit to King's Landing, the Lannisters would put it together and know that Ned was on to them. Remaining unknown was the best possible outcome here, but once Tyrion spotted her, that was no longer an option.

She had to do some really quick thinking here. She could've fed Tyrion some story, but there was no story that would've made a lady of her station traveling incognito with only one old retainer any less suspicious. The conspiracy was going to come to light anyway - arresting Tyrion, however, forces it to come to light on her terms, not the Lannisters'. And now she has a hostage in case the Lannisters make a move against Ned.

Given the short time she had to make this decision, I'd say she made quite a smart move. It was risky, yes, but doing nothing would've been even more risky.

Catelyn should've seen Tywin's response coming: This is a pretty important one - was starting a war the appropriate and reasonable response to Tyrion's arrest? Was it a response to be expected of Tywin Lannister?

I've often argued that Tywin's action here were a major overreaction - and a very stupid one at that. Had Tywin responded pragmatically and with a level head, he'd have achieved a lot more while sacrificing a lot less. Had he gone to Robert for justice, Catelyn would've been forced to release Tyrion and the Starks would've been humiliated for making such a stupid mistake. Ned would've been likely dismissed as Hand with Tywin becoming his likely replacement.

Starting a war on the other hand risked everything. Robert would not have simply overlooked breaking the king's peace and Tywin was in no position to face off against the power of the Iron Throne. Tywin certainly did not think his actions through and he got really lucky that Robert's convenient death allowed him to escape the consequences.

But don't take my word for it - take Tyrion's. Here's the excerpt from his chapter when he languishes in the Sky Cells of Eyrie.

He wondered what Cersei would do when she heard....

If Cersei kept her wits about her, she would insist the king sit in judgment of Tyrion himself. Even Ned Stark could scarcely object to that, not without impugning the honor of the king. And Tyrion would be only too glad to take his chances in a trial. Whatever murders they might lay at his door, the Starks had no proof of anything so far as he could see. Let them make their case before the Iron Throne and the lords of the land. It would be the end of them. If only Cersei were clever enough to see that…

Tyrion Lannister sighed. His sister was not without a certain low cunning, but her pride blinded her. She would see the insult in this, not the opportunity. And Jaime was even worse, rash and headstrong and quick to anger. His brother never untied a knot when he could slash it in two with his sword.

Tyrion says nothing about what his father would do apart from sending riders after them, but his comments about the most pragmatic course of action here applies to Tywin as well. Despite being the one imprisoned, he sees that the smartest choice here is to have Robert sit judgment on the matter. He simply doesn't trust Jaime or Cersei to be smart enough to see that.

But shouldn't Tywin be smarter? He is well known in the Seven Kingdoms to be pragmatic, cautious and cunning. So why would anyone expect him to be like Cersei - blinded by pride and seeing the insult, not the opportunity? Why would anyone expect him to react like Jaime - rushing to action without considering the consequences? Turns out, Tywin ended up being worse than either of them. But if Tyrion didn't expect this reaction from Tywin, why should Catelyn?

TL;DR: A more nuanced reading of the text shows that arresting Tyrion at the Crossroads was perhaps the smartest choice Catelyn could've made at the moment. It spiraled out of control partly because of unexpected actions by others and mostly because fate (GRRM) was conspiring against the Starks - but the blame for that cannot be laid at Catelyn's feet.

Saw Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Negan) in Rampage (2018) today, his regular acting is not so different from his version of Negan on TWD

Same kind of performance as that of Negan, the way he says his dialogues, all that leaning non-sense.
At start I thought it was writers to blame for shitty Negan on TWD, but his acting sucks. Hardly any variation.
No wonder Negan era caused the end of The Walking Dead

Would you like the show to explain Negan's rise to power and the leader before him? Or it be left ambiguous?

Maybe the path to Negan's "redemption" can be him telling Rick how he came into power and what circumstances drove him to be who he was?

I feel like Negan mentioning the previous leader in one of his dialogues and never expanding on it is a huge tease. I want to know who was in charge and how did they lose the power to Negan.

[Spoilers] Jorah's and Rakharo's conversation in Season One

I was wondering if anyone else is bothered by this:

"<...>That's where the broadsword has the advantage. Designed for piercing plate.<...>"

For one, Jorah is holding a longsword there. And a longsword typically weighs around 1,5 kg. It is a fast, agile and elegant weapon. Not some club with a sharp point, which the show implies. There is no way in the world it would ever pierce plate armour. If it did, what would be the point of armour? And indeed, Jorah contradicts himself immediately after:

"<...>Amour makes a man slow. It's true, but it also keeps a man alive.<...>".

If a simple longsword could pierce plate armour (which we actually see multiple times in the show), it doesn't exactly "help to keep a man alive".

By the way, talking about plate armour - yes, it was heavier than regular clothing. But no, it wasn't heavy enough to prevent quick movement. In fact, it is possible to do many types of sports wearing full plate armour. This is mainly because armour did not have to be thick to withstand hits from swords, arrows, and the like. A relatively thin piece of steel was enough.

Something I don’t get about the truck robberies.

Obvious spoilers. When the Mexicans kept robbing Pollos trucks it happened in the US. One of the drivers killed didn’t even speak Spanish. The two guys that were killed in a truck were both white guts. Mike is even in a truck. And here’s no orange glow to the scene. So definitely not Mexico. What I don’t get is how either of those events didn’t make the news. I guess the Cartel got rid of all evidence. Hank would have definitely found out about it when looking into Fring.

The saviours are the worst collective antagonists I have ever seen on TV

I don't know how anyone can be remotely intimidated by these moronic red-shirts.

Every single scene they are in, they are getting massacred like the Red Army at Stalingrad.

Morgan calmly walks down a hallway with a pistol, kills 12 saviours carrying assault rifles

Their very first (official) appearance involves them getting slaughtered like Washington crossing the Delaware.

Someone did an official catalogue of every single Saviour in the show, and the total saviour deaths amounted to over 600 IIRC. 600 saviour deaths, compared to, what? 60 militamen? Almost no main characters?

They also kept re-using that fucking trope of "Saviour holds gang at gunpoint, saviour gets shot from behind". It happens in almost every single episode.

The saviours were shit. The cannibals had more presence than the Saviours did.

It's hard to feel any suspense in a show that is mostly populated by cannon fodder.

Cowboy Bepop IS one of the best anime’s for many reasons.

I’ve never really been an anime fan. I remember when I was in elementary school everyone tried to get me to watch Dragon Ball Z but the filler episodes killed me.

I know everyone has their reasons for why this anime or that anime is great, but Bepop is great because of how it’s used imagery, music, voice acting, and writing to blend a creative and fun story.

Some of the best tv shows now are ones where the episodes are loosely connected but each episode stands alone (Rick and Morty, Atlanta, it’s always sunny, etc). Why? Because it’s more interesting to have an episode stand out than just a season as a whole.

Filler episodes show a laziness, for they are made to fill a quota and not to finish off the season (quantity vs quality). It’s the reason why fans get angered over shows like walking dead, game of thrones, etc.

Also the most controversial thing that will get me downvotes: Bebop tells a better story in 24 episodes than Dragon Ball Z does in 291.

Also I’ll gladly take recommendations for other anime’s that have substance (already watched both full metals, one punch man, Naruto, and I’m caught up on Attack on Titan)

What was it about Kim's decision that earned Howard's respect? [S2 spoilers]

In episode 8, Kim decides to leave HHM. Howard dons his usual and unfair demeanor towards Kim, believing that she'll be moving to Schweikart and Cokely. Once he finds out that she's actually planning to start a solo practice (also as a separate entity as Jimmy's) his behavior immediately changes. From wanting to end the meeting asap, he suddenly shares personal anecdotes and feelings, and even decides to pay for the remaining loan himself. You can already assume that he would not have done any of these had he not learned about the solo practice.

What was it about this decision that earned Howard's respect? Was it just the courage it took to go solo after building a career in firms? Was it just simply because he related to her in his younger days and as he said envied her? I think there might be a more complex dynamic here, especially with how he treats Kim normally.

Also, what do you think is the reason for Howard's overall cold treatment towards Kim? Is it targeted or do you think he treats all low-level associates this way?

A neat detail I noticed

It's nothing Earth-shattering, just something I noticed, but in season 2, when Jimmy gets the job at Davis and Main, Kim gives him a cup that says "world's 2nd best lawyer", and tells him something along the lines of "Hey, you gotta be realistic, besides, second place isn't bad". In the final episode of Season 3, the intro features a coffee mug that reads "world's best lawyer" falling to the ground from Saul's desk and shattering to pieces. It's just a thought, but I think that this foreshadows Kim's death, bumping Jimmy up from the 2nd best, to the best. Alternatively, it could also have foreshadowed Chuck's death at the end of that episode, once again, making Jimmy the best. Nothing crazy, just a fun detail and possible foreshadowy Easter egg.

BCS Rewatch - S2E2 (Cobbler) Discussion Thread

Discuss whatever you want below. All BrBa and BCS spoilers are allowed.

In case you can't watch today and want a refresher, plot:

Before a meeting between Hamlin Hamlin & McGill and D&M, Kim rearranges the seating so that she and Jimmy sit side by side. She asks Jimmy how he is adjusting to his new firm. On a break, they share a cigarette, a kiss, and she gives him a thermos with "World's 2nd Best Lawyer" written on it. They agree to meet later that night. At the nail salon Jimmy receives his new company car, a Mercedes-Benz, and is frustrated that his new thermos does not fit in the cup holder like it did in his old beater.

At the courthouse, Mike is surprised to see Daniel arrive in his Hummer. Daniel tells him about the burglary at his house and Mike cautions him about talking to the police. Daniel, however, is adamant about getting his baseball cards back. In order to prevent Daniel from possibly implicating him in the drug deals, Mike offers to find the baseball cards. He tracks down Nacho at his father's car restoration shop and asks for the return of the baseball cards. Nacho at first brushes him off, until Mike threatens to inform Tuco about the drug deals. Mike negotiates a deal where Daniel trades his Hummer to Nacho in return for the baseball cards and $10,000. The police are still calling Daniel to come in for an interview.

During a meeting between HHM and D&M, Chuck appears and sits in as an observer. Jimmy is hesitant to continue at first but with silent encouragement from Kim he continues to discuss the Sandpiper clients. When Jimmy asks Chuck why he came to the meeting, Chuck simply says he came to "bear witness". Moments later, Mike phones Jimmy, asking for his assistance. Jimmy accompanies Daniel to a police interview, where Daniel tells the detectives there is no need to keep the case open since he has retrieved his cards. The detectives are still skeptical, so Jimmy talks to them privately about a failed gay love affair and the stealing of the cards as revenge. To provide Daniel with an alibi, Jimmy "explains" that the space behind the couch contained fetish videos of Daniel sitting on various types of pies and crying. The detectives, taken off guard by the outrageous story, believe Jimmy.

That night, Jimmy meets with Kim and tells her the story of Daniel's case and the fabricating of a video that was needed as evidence. Kim is appalled that Jimmy has possibly jeopardized his career. Jimmy counters by asking why she was willing to play along with conning Ken. She retorts that it had nothing to do with work. She asks him why he was willing to falsify evidence to exonerate a client and, when Jimmy cannot provide a satisfactory answer, Kim says, "I can't hear about this sort of thing ever again" to which Jimmy responds, "You won't".

Alright, get talking!

How To Watch Season 4 Live Without Cable?

I am a huge fan of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. I've been watching BCS since its premiere and a little bit after the season 3 finale we ditched cable to go with streaming. Is there any way to watch Better Call Saul's season 4 premiere live?

Will the Jimmy and Mike storylines ever merge together?

Or does the show just tell two completely different stories?

Missed opportunity in the S8 finale.

I also wish this was in the comic. Rick Grimes totally should have told Negan “I’m placing you under arrest,” or something to that effect. It would bring Rick’s character full circle and would have been a great way to usher in the new era of society.

The funniest moment of the entire series: S02E09

When Walt loses all hope and Jesse is trying to get him to snap out of it. It had me in fucking tears with my stomach hurting.

Walter H. White: Jesse. Jesse. Your body is running dangerously low on electrolytes. Sodium, potassium, calcium. And when they're gone, your brain ceases to communicate with your muscles. Your lungs stop breathing. Your heart stops pumping. You go marching out there and within an hour you will be dead.

Jesse Pinkman: Okay. You need to cut out all your loser cry-baby crap RIGHT NOW and think of something SCIENTIFIC.

Walter H. White: Something scientific? Right.

Jesse Pinkman: What? Come on! Man, you're smart. You made poison out of beans, yo. Look, we got, we got an entire lab right here. Alright? How about you pick some of these chemicals and mix up some rocket fuel? That way you could just send up a signal flare. Or you make some kind of robot to get us help, or a homing device, or build a new battery, or... Wait. No. What if we just take some stuff off of the RV and build it into something completely different? You know, like a... Like a dune buggy. That way, we can just dune buggy or... What? Hey? What is it? What?

Walter H. White: [starts to get up]

Jesse Pinkman: What? Hey? What is it? What?

Walter H. White: Do you, do you have any money? Change, I mean. Coins.

Jesse Pinkman: Yeah, I got a bunch of them. From the...

Walter H. White: Okay.

Jesse Pinkman: YES!

Walter H. White: Gather them, and, and, and the washers and nuts and bolts and screws and whatever little pieces of metal we can think of that is galvanized. It has to be galvanized, or solid zinc.

Jesse Pinkman: Solid zinc, okay.

Walter H. White: And, and bring me, bring me brake pads. The front wheels should have discs. Take them off and bring them to me.

Jesse Pinkman: Alright, brake pads. Okay. What are we building?

Walter H. White: You said it yourself.

Jesse Pinkman: A robot?

Walter H. White: A battery. MOVE!

[SPOILERS] Who runs each Kingdom when the curtain drops?

Whilst I haven't got a clue how the story will end I'm pretty certain that Westeros will end up at peace with a stable government. To that end I thought I'd speculate about who's left running things when the dust settles.

Dorne - The only Dornish character alive in the show is Elaria Sand who should still be in a cell in King's Landing. Tyrion hates her for killing his neice but it might be good diplomacy to put her in charge.

Iron Islands - It's either Euron, Theon or Yara. Yara is the obvious choice but putting Theon in charge as a puppet of King's Landing would be more interesting politically.

The Reach - With the Tyrells wiped out it is likely that the Reach will be awarded to someone who's served our heroes with distinction. I'd really like it if Bron or Greyworm was given it.

The Westerlands - Cersai won't survive and i think Jamie will reject it, that leaves Tyrion to rule as Warden of the West.

Stormlands - Gendry will likely be legitimised and given the Stormlands.

The Vale - Robin Arryn is the only choice.

The Riverlands - Edmund Tully will be lord of the Riverlands.

The North - Almost certainly Sansa as Bran will be off being a Raven. It won't be Jon as he's a Targaryan not a Stark.

Lord Commander of the Night's Watch - Step forward Jamie Lannister who will take the Black after killing his sister.

The Iron Throne - The big one, it's either Jon, Dany or their child. I don't think Jon will get it, I'd pay good money that he doesn't survive the show. I also wouldn't be surprised if Dany doesn't get it so my money is that their son will be in charge with Varys acting as Viceroy until the child comes of age.

I just finished S4 and wow, that was an explosive ending! But I have questions:

I don't know why Gus came back to Casa Tranquila after Tio talked to the DEA. If Tio did admit to Gus' involvement, then even if he puts him down the information is already out there. Visiting Tio just after he informed the DEA would also confirm suspicion, so to me that was weird. I felt like it's something very careless for a man like Gus!

Also, how the hell did Tyrus not see the bomb? I know I know, he had a radio transmitter not a bomb detector, but surely he should know how a bomb looks like. How did Gus not see the bomb? More importantly, how was he able to "see" the bomb in his car that was meters away and not see the bomb planted on the side of the wheel?! How did Walt hear the bell ringing when he drove away before Gus came, or did I misunderstand this scene?

How did Walt poison Brock? He had no opportunity to be near him, he doesn't know where he lives. No kid that old would accept candies from strangers (except on Halloween and it wasn't). I can't find any evidence leading to that except for him having the plant, but everyone on the internet seems to believe he's responsible. So how? :o

I couldn't come up with valid theories and it bothers me a bit, so I want to know yours! Nonetheless it was a great ending and I'm curious what S5 will be about now that the business is basically "over". I hope Walt dies.

Just finished Mad Men... A show like no other.

I tried watching the show about a year ago for the first time and only got through the first season and a half. I got back into it about two weeks ago and binged the entire thing. Now that i'm done I feel as if there is a void in my life. No other show has ever felt so real and lived in before as this show, and it taking place during the 60s was just an amazing concept. My only regret is that I wish I had watched it sooner.

Did (blank) have to die

Gavin.

Did Gavin have to die

He didn't really seem like that bad of a guy. He was just following orders, and he seemed like one of the more reasonable saviors, even since I first saw him. It seemed like he was just following orders from above.

Morgan having some sort of vengeance against Gavin for Benjamin's death was really fucking stupid, since Gavin meant for Richard to die (since Richard wanted to die anyway) and Gavin punished Jared for killing Benjamin

It's also noteworthy that Gavin told Ezekiel exactly what would happen. He didn't have some arbitrary "kill everyone who looked like this" like Simon did, nor did he have some eeny meeny miny moe game like Negan.

Me and my girlfriend are currently watching and we just finished episode two of season two and she’s still unimpressed and a little bored. I’ve seen the show before but it was years ago so I don’t remember much other than the fact I really enjoyed it and I know it gets much more intense. If she isn’t hooked by this point is it worth continuing? Does it get better?

Just a though that i have..

That maybe in the future, after the series ended and Walt died, years pass... it would be cool to imagine that at some point Walt's family has problems with money, such as Walter Jr is in a gang problem by accident, and Jesse appears to solve the problem, as a more experienced and responsible adult, just as a thank you to "Mr White"
