One of my favorite things about Better Call Saul is that it doesn't commit the typical prequel sin of giving us answers to questions raised in the previous show that we didn't want answered, but rather provides insightful explanations to things we didn't even know we wanted. Case in point, they took an innocent prop like Saul's ring and suddenly re-contextualized it into something meaningful that harkened back to his friendship with Marco. They've also done similar things with the multi-colored suits and the inflatable tube man.
What's another pointless prop from Breaking Bad that you would like to get a meaningful backstory? I vote for the Hello Kitty phone in Saul's office.
