The history of Fear the Walking Dead.

Just so people can read this and remember. This show was it's own thing. With a loyal fanbase, a lot of criticism, and an overall story. It was about the Clarke family and their new group as they experience the collapse of society and enter the apocalypse.

It struggled in the shadow of TWD while it was in it's prime. And I can only imagine how cheap AMC is to work with. But if you just think of seasons 1 through 3 as it's own piece in the zombie genre, it was pretty good.

We saw Los Angeles fall into chaos, got some really beautiful, interesting locations on the west coast, and a lot of cool aspects of TWD universe (the first zombies, the cartel after government collapses, an astronaut, brain stem drugs, a plane crash, rich people, a dam exploding, zombies falling from buildings, etc.).

But mostly, anyone who watched season 3 saw that this show was about Madison becoming a villain. The Clarke family looked like they were coming into some serious family drama and most of us were into it. The seeds were planted for Nick and Madison to feud and Alicia was becoming very independent. We had Troy, Taqa, Lee, Daniel, Proctor John, Lola, Strand, etc. The ratings showed that there was a solid 2 million viewers through season 3 that were following this story.

But Scott Gimple decided to turn it into Morgan's show. They built it up as a crossover of the two shows and hid the fact that they were essentially ending Fear and starting over with Lennie James. But for some reason they brought over the OG characters and rewrote each of them to either die or be sidelined. Probably only to try and keep viewers like us and make more profit.

And the whole point of season 4 was two things. One - get rid of the Clarke family. Except Alicia because large fanbase equals profit. Luciana and Strand are just there to be a hispanic token and Colman is in good with Scott (just a guess). Two - Tell the story of how Morgan almost loses himself but doesn't. That's it.

And to top it all off they bring over writers who - not to sugarcoat it - suck. I personally witnessed these clowns destroy Once Upon a Time. A very promising and interesting show just like Fear. But eventually we will be moved on and it will be some cheap cash cow soap opera living in the dead carcass of a once great show.
