S4 wasn't great, but it wasn't terrible either

So, like many of you here, I didn't like how S4 was a reboot. And after Madison and Nick died, I practically gave up on the series. But recently, I noticed that S4 was on Hulu and decided to give 4B a shot, and I'm glad I did. Reading the criticisms on here kept me from continuing the show, but I bingewatched 4B through without listening to anyone else and I'm surprised how much I liked it.

Sure, it wasn't the show it used to be. Yes, Morgan is now the de facto main leader over the OG characters. I looked past that, though, and my enjoyment of the second half increased as a result. I like the new characters, I like how they handled the old ones, and I like how they integrated Morgan into the show. And yes, I like Martha/Filthy Woman.

I noticed how she was the season's biggest complaint, and I was worried I wouldn't like her as a result. But she's such a breath of fresh air to the Walking Dead universe. I like how she comes out of nowhere and fucks everything up just for the sake of fucking everything up. It's different from most WD villains who take a half a season to setup in the first half, and seeing how they payoff in the second. But Martha's just crazy, and I like that.

I realize that practically everyone here treats S4 like the worst thing that ever happened to the show, but I used to feel that way too. I like it now though. I think a lot of people went in the new season wanting to hate it. Coming back to it with an open mind might change your perception of the new season. That being said, though, I think I'm waiting to binge S5 because this is not a show to watch week-to-week.
