The new characters
So, the new characters...
I actually liked the kids angle. I mean, Kids have always annoyed me in TWD (I even found Carl annoying up till around season 5, before Gimple fucked his character in eight.) but these kids weren't too bad. They were without a doubt, a million times better than Charlie will EVER be.
The trucker dude seems iffy. So far he feels like a generic cliche bad guy, but hopefully there's more to him than just "i don't like helping people" and hopefully he's a million times better than Filthy-Woman Martha and Wannabe-Saviors Vulture gang.
The shoehorned Rick Easter egg was bullshit, because according to Gimple, This is the United States. And I'm only placing this here since it was technically a few characters.
The Writing
It's aight. A tiny bit better than last season, though that's not saying much. Morgan wasn't the main focus and I like that - so because of that, his "deep" philosophical life lessons weren't too common.
How they got a plane is beyond me, and it feels like lazy writing to ignore it.
Althea Telling Strand he gets to fly after all was there, but than ignored later when she's low-key pissed at him for not being there to help. Even though it was implied earlier he couldn't be. But, whatever.
The shit pie a' le' mode was a weird line and felt shoehorned because the writers feel the need to tell and not show.
LaNaJU' was a solid 5.5 this episode. A 10 Being S4 June. Shutters in disgust
The plot, tone, and everything in-between
It was... it was okay. Once you let go that this was Fear The Walking Dead - this season isn't too bad.
Alicia felt more bad-ass. Not just a dumb background character.
The hazmat zone seems interesting. But... I'm afraid the writers will fuck it up BIG TIME.
The whole "Helping People" thing fits well for the NEW direction of this show.
The Ending
Daniel's tape made me cheer. I clapped when I saw him and the infamous "I told you... I'd be your guardian angel." line popped into my head.
Strand looking absolutely petrified to see Daniel was amazing and I absolutely loved it. For a SPLIT SECOND, I thought we were watching Erickson's show.
Although it felt shoehorned, It definitely made me a tad bit more curious as to just who in the hell these people are that took Rick. And I wonder of Madison is really with them. Let's hope so..........
Overall - a SOLID 7.5 rating from me.
Wasn't too bad. Wasn't great, but wasn't as bad as 4B. Though - S4 also started off good. So... Let's not have too much hope.
EDIT: Typo
