I really like Expedition Unknown

This is one of my favorite shows on tv right now. It's informative and educational, it's entertaining, and it's got a sense of actual adventure.

I wasn't crazy about Josh Gates' last show on Syfy, Destination Truth. I liked it, but I thought most of the monsters they were searching for were silly. But the best part about that show was that they seemed to realize it was completely silly, and kind of wink to the audience, but then they'd make large parts of the episodes about the foreign countries and cultures they were visiting. That's what I dug about DT and that's one of the biggest things they've kept with EU. But with EU, most of the mysteries and legends are real and actually very compelling. I really like it.

Anybody else a fan?

Why Season 5 Episode 12 is the worst episode of Fear the Walking Dead

Season 5 has been a boring, annoying, silly, ridiculous disaster, filled with coincidences and plot holes a plenty. Characters have been assassinated and turned into goody two shoes and become Morganites or members of the cult of Momo.

But Episode 12 titled 'Ner Tamid' is a whole nother level. It is not only the worst episode of any walking dead tv episode, but also one of the worst episodes of television I have ever seen.

Let's start with Charlie. Charlie decides to go look for a new place for the group to call home. This would be slightly plausible if she went in the day. But no, she decides to go in the middle of the night, when it is the most dangerous time. In addition to this, she is NOT a fully grown human, able to take out walkers with ease. She is most likely 11/12 at this period of time so would probably struggle against them. Plus she decides to go out on her own like a complete idiot. Then she insists that this church will be their new safe haven. What nonsense. Firstly theirs walkers around. Secondly, as June correctly says, there is no water nearby (though the writers can pull it out of thin air, because this is FTWD with magic and funsies candiesbeanies jimbos beerbos.

Next lets go to rabbi Jacob. He is literally safe and sound cooped up in his church/synagogue. It is locked and pretty useful as a safe haven. So why on earth is he opening the door to kill walkers, when he is essentially asking for a death wish and other zombies could burst in. I know he was doing mass, but really? (But he's the least of my many many issues.)

Now John and June, go looking for Charlie, which is fair. They want to protect her. But firstly how did they find a church, which as Charlie said was days away? So your telling me, there is only one church in this whole vicinity? NONSENSE. And of course they waste a car battery on a fucking light, for a guy they barely know, which is immediately wasted because the rabbi decides to risk everyone's lives by letting his undead congregation run amok. So what was the point of that at all?

NOW: Fucking coincidences:

1: John and June show up to the rabbi and present him with the car battery just as he was running out of light.

2: John and June show up in Al's van just as Logan's gang surround Sarah and Dwight, despite not knowing where the location of Sarah and Dwight were.

3: A ladder being directly on top of a car, so John can easily smash open the window.

4: 5 cars are neatly next to each other, despite this being an apocalypse, so John and June can each walk across.

5: Then we have OM NOM adventures with John and June where they build a bridge, which the writers MUST HAVE thought was a brilliant metaphor for fixing issues between friends.

There's probably more coincidences but this episode made me fall asleep, and wake up to the sound of HELP.

Then we have yet another filler scene of Dwight drinking Jimbo's beerbos.

Then the most ridiculous line of dialouge comes out of June's mouth. So Logan's gang shows up where the group is staying at. June says "How did he know where we were?". Well maybe if June and John and Morgan and Al and every goddam character on this fucking show didnt use a goddam walkie every 5 minutes then maybe Logan wouldnt find them.

But wasnt he out of gas last episode. Oh thats right, unlimited gas is the norm on this stupid show.

Then Logan drives up to a quarry. A FUCKING QUARRY. A FUCKING QUARRY!!

and thats how our episode ends.

WHAT HAS HAPPENED SINCE EPISODE 1?

NOTHING.

ABSOLUTELY FUCK ALL.

THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO WAY AMC CAN PUT THIS OUT AND SAY YEAH THATS WORTHY OF PUBLIC VIEWING.

Please fire Andrew Chambliss, Ian Goldberg and Scott Gimple.

I don't think the Salamanca Twins are very good at their jobs

Don't get me wrong, they are great at intimidating and killing, but they use them way too many times when their stoic personalities would draw attention, get police called, etc. Like at the bank or the hospital. there

For this reason, I find Lalo absolutely terrifying. Can talk his way into things, out of things, and is intelligent enough to formulate decent plans

Did they settle the sandpiper case? I thought Irene was about to but then changed back to holding out for more when Erin and Jimmy did the hot mic situation. I ask because is S4Ep10 Jimmy pays 23k for the Charles McGill law library. Where did he get the money? Sandpiper Money? Cell phone money? Kim? Also did I miss the ultimate resolution of Huells case? Last I saw the judge told them to sort it out. Is it implied they gave him the sweet deal or did it just go away?

Finally got around to watching BCS

I have to admit, I had completely the wrong idea about Better Call Saul. I watched the first couple episodes when it came out, and it didn't hook me. I typically don't like prequels, and although I always found Saul entertaining, I certainly didn't need an origin story for him.

When I saw Mike (and Tuco), I thought it was just gimmick factors to associate the show more with Breaking Bad. Although I always loved Mike, I didn't care to see him shoehorned into anything. When I later heard and read online that Gustavo was appearing in BCS, I again groaned and thought ugh, gimmick.

I've been working from home often so finally got around to putting BCS on in the background, figured I'd might as well get caught up for El Camino. Well, let me just say this; I've never been more wrong, and thrilled about it. Even if you hate Saul's character, the Mike backstory Is worth it alone for season 1. The cinematography reminded me nicely of the gorgeously framed Breaking Bad shots, and the plot was totally organic. By the time we saw his Gus again, I was already psyched seeing every BB minor character, and none of it felt forced. I feel like an asshole for taking this long to come around, but thrilled I finally did.

Who is worse, Negan or the Governor?

I feel like they’re both evil in their own ways but there’s something about the governor that is just so off putting.

In the comics the governor rapes and tortures Michonne which they didn’t show on tv and Negan claims he “respects women”. The way Negan kills seems worse to me, bashing someone’s head in with a bat but at least he has a reason for killing? He “punished” Rick’s group for attacking and killing his men at one of his outposts.

The governor doesn’t seem to have any reasoning behind anything he does, seems to me he just wants to be in power without anyone questioning or threatening his position.

What do you guys think?

Could the showrunners leave after season 5?

Fear is pretty much dead cuz of A and I. The only way it could get even remotely good again is if AMC fired them and got someone better. Do y’all think it’s possible once season 5 ends AMC will fire them? I know ratings don’t matter much to AMC but they have continued to rank. If A and I stay for S6 they will only continue to drop. I mean come on AMC has to know that A and I are killing this show. Once S5 ends they need to be fired and we need someone better. Hell they should just get Dave back.

*SPOILER saddest skin from the walking dead season 2 (game)

The scene where you get shot by Arvo, and when Mike and Bonnie are trying to steal the car Kenny fixed and leave, you faint (because you got shot) and then you start dreaming, in that dream you see that you are in Kenny's old RV from season 1, with Lee, its all really sad, because he also comforts you for feeling scared, and of course because clementine misses him so much, since he died at the end of season 1, saving her. Its just nice to see him again, even if its not real

I know this is an extremely dumb post but I always wondered what happened to the dogs in Alexandria. I have been re watching the series and when they first get there we see a woman walking a dog and later another dog barking at a walker that snuck in. Then we never see them again. The same goes for quite a few extras that were in Alexandria early on and then just disappeared.

Something I noticed on my last rewatch

I hope this hasn’t been discussed before, I tried searching for other posts that may have mentioned it but didn’t find any.

In many episodes we see Jimmy put his cell phone and his watch in the mailbox before visiting Chuck. In the flashback to when Jimmy has been arrested for the Chicago Sunroof, we see Chuck place his cell phone and presumably other items into a mail slot like box before he can enter the room to visit Jimmy. Obviously there’s a lot of symbolism that can be unpacked from that. It may have been much more obvious to everyone else, but I missed it the first few times I watched the episode.

Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles was the best thing to happen to the Terminator series since T2

I still won't ever understand why Fox killed it after the first season second season, but compared to all of the movies (post T2), this series was the best thing to happen since T2. I recommend to anyone who hasn't seen it to pick it up on Bluray and give it a chance. Hopefully we will get another TV series based around the Terminator, since I feel that the lore fits the small-screen more than the big-screen.

I just purchased the first season on Amazon Prime video for $7.99

Walt's actions in the series finale

I must say, I never hated Walt in the show. Yes, he was a big scumbag with each passing episode, but with the final episode, I had A LOT of respect for him. He totally saved Jesse because he DID care about him, even if he may have uses him and manipulated him. He saved Jesse from months of suffering the latter went through. And he killed Todd's uncle the way he did.... He redeemed himself with just a few things in that episode. Good stuff!

El Camino thoughts.

So I have rewatched the last season which just affirmed my undying love for this series. It has been 6 years since the show finished and I can comfortably say that the series as a whole, and particular the ending, is perfect. That being said, this movie coming out genuinely scares the shit out of me. I will watch it the second it comes out but my excitement is definitely overshadowed by my fear for this one...

I don't like Saul

I finished season 2 or at least most of it yesterday and I have to say I really do not like Jimmy . His brother might be a dick but Jimmy is just not a good person. His brother's worse crime so far is lying to him about getting him a job and being an uptight prick nothing about that is equal to doctoring documents in order to sabotage his business or assaulting him. I get he was angry but I just can't blame chuck too much given how Jimmy is and has been in the past. I also felt really bad for Chuck during the hearing and afterwards because whether he is physically or mentally ill he is still clearly disadvantaged in someway and to see him being taken advantaged of because of his brother's own insecurity is pretty messed up. I just don't have any sympathy for Jimmy like I thought I would. I figured I would find him more interesting since I hated Heiseinberg for being a yellow bellied coward going through a mid life crisis but that isnt the case. The show is good but they both focus on completely unlikable people no matter how well written they are.

Why is mo Collins acting like she's on mad TV still and not being serious? Where are the kids where is the wheelchair guy? Why is that little girl still alive?

Cant anyone on this show act?

We need another Spartacus!

Seriously, I miss this show Soo much. I've re watched it 3 times over the years and it was Soo good. Especially in the beginning. It was a show that had everything. Politics, drama, action, sex. It was super gritty with an artistic style. Is there any other show that has gladiators?

It somewhat bothers me how people want Walter white to not be dead and in this movie

The beauty of Vince Gillian and what I loved what he did for a tv series is he knew when to end the series and gave you a satisfying conclusion to it. So many shows keep going until they stop being popular but breaking bad went out as popularity was at an all time high. Breaking bad and hopefully better call Saul didn't fall victim to what happening with walking dead. Tell your story and end it.

Walt's story is a Scarface type story. The series is the rise and fall of Walter white. I love the character but I want him to be deader than a doornail and never be brought back. I loved the series as a story with an ending.

It's losing me as a result. And not even just that. These weird, over the top, often convenient action sequences throw me right out of the world. It's not natural. It's not gritty. It's not believable.

Wow, Antony Starr is absolutely FANTASTIC as Homelander in "The Boys"

Just finished the first season of the show - it was excellent, much better than the comic and high recommended. It's a wonderful dark comedy/satire that manages to be pretty damn thought-provoking at times, with all-around excellent performances.

But the standout (and there are many) is without a doubt Antony Starr. He was already very good as Lucas Hood in Bansheet but he's taken his game to another level. The Homelander character is one of the scariest, and most menacing ones I've seen on TV in years. And Starr pulls it off with almost zero violence from the character. The way he puts on his fake inspiring Superman persona, and switches effortlessly to the arrogant, cynical and apathetic bastard he really is at the drop of a hat is incredible, and there is truly something chilling inside him when he decides to make his veiled threats - he knows he's the most powerful guy around, and watching him toy with his prey is amazing.

This is an award-worthy performance imo and I can't wait to see what they have in store for the character in the 2nd season.

Love the show’s overall attitude to illicit drug use

Basically shows 1000 different facets of drugs - highs, lows, good, neutral and very bad. The ending note was never preachy, it was more ‘it is what it is’ and Walt’s death, while pathetic and taking his last breaths amongst his beloved lab equipment - made for a beautifully textured story, intricate patterns like the fine lines in his face. He’d tasted glory, lost everything, fought for nothing, championed evil, but he’d lived a life he chose whether right or wrong.

Also the addicts had good dimensions to them - for example the dropkick junkie parents, the lovable but not too smart lackeys for Jesse’s operations, Jesse himself the misguided but kind hearted apprentice. Jane, flawed as she was, genuinely made Jesse happy but unfortunately travelled down a path of tragedy.

I don’t care how the movie will be because i’m happy just to get more of the characters.

Worst thing that Walt ever did?

Obviously, it would be poisoning Brock. That's a given. But outside of that very obvious thing, I think it's pretty messed up that he got his neighbor to unknowingly clear his house by getting her to use her spare key to, "check the stove". He basically sent her in there to get murdered in his place in case Gus' men were in there waiting for him. What do you guys think?

Why is Skylar suddenly so supportive of Walter in season 3?

I'm rewatching for the movie, maybe I missed something but from what I recall in the beginning of season 3 skylar is 100% against Walter and wants nothing to do with him, then she sort of disappears for 2 or 3 episodes, then after Hank gets fucked up she's suddenly extremely supportive, offering to completely participate in his business and even act as his 'Danny', along with inviting him to dinner and having laughs with him.

Did I miss something?

[Spoiler] Jeremiah, Troy, Taqa, and the Ranch

I don't get why, all of a sudden, they see Jeremiah as the bad guy. I think it was Alicia who said, "Are we on the wrong side?" As the story goes, Jeremiah or his family before him bought the ranch of the Taqa's family. Apparently the contract held up in a court of law. It was a lawful sale. Then Taqa's uncle and his friends started killing Jeremiah's cattle. So Jeremiah and his buddy camped out there and killed the trespassers. You can't say that's a perfect angle type of thing to do, but that's more of wild west justice. Then Jeremiah killed Taqa's father when his father showed up at his door looking for his brother. Who knows how that altercation went down, but you have to start looking at Jeremiah a less favorably.

But does that mean 'you're on the wrong side if you're with Jeremiah?' Fuck no. The guy owned the land fair and square and not only that, he spent his LIFE preparing for the end of the world. Then you have this asshole Taqa who decides he wants to take it for himself. 'It was stolen from my people and now, it'll stay with my people.' But he doesn't give a shit about the land. Otherwise he would've stuck it out and stayed at the ranch even after it was blown up and there was nothing left.

Lets go a step further. Fucking Troy is a psychopath. Troy fucking ethnically cleansed Mexicans crossing the border. He shot Luciana, almost executed Nick and Travis, executed innocent people for no reason, killed his best friend and their entire family, apparently skinned rabbits alive and left them there to suffer, and drew a herd of Zombies in to the ranch, because he's a psychopath. Nick forgave him for all of it while Maddy forgave him for everything except the ladder. But all of a sudden because Jeremiah killed some dudes who were trespassing and killing his cattle, you might be on the wrong side? They just wanted to kill Jeremiah so they could take over the ranch and spare any more bloodshed, which is a good enough reason. They didn't have to fabricate a reason.

Which is actually a great story arc. They fabricate a reason why Jeremiah is evil and decide to kill him in order to maintain the peace and sleep at night. Except, they also add in the needless scene where Jeremiah leaves Ofelia in the desert specifically because 'she's brown'. Great, of course, you have to virtue signal to the audience that he's a villain. It was such a political injection too. When Jeremiah says Luciana left because she wasn't a part of the same group, and Nick said, "What, cuz she's brown." I totally lost all respect for Nick. Dude, Troy shot her and killed all of her people. You were there. She's not going to ally with that group, and neither should you, Maddy, or Alicia. That's crazy. But then later on they reveal Jeremiah is a racist, and was saying it was because of her race. Which was just a bullshit political injection.

Oh and back onto Troy for a second. I hate that character so much. It's not even the character himself I hate, he was entertaining, great acting, it was how the family forgave him all the time. Why did Nick save his life and lie for him over and over again? Nick, he's a psychopath who shot your girlfriend, wanted to kill your girlfriend before she easily recovered, kill you, and kill Travis. And bro, he ethnically cleansed everyone from the colonia. You have 0 reason to be best buds with Troy and try to protect that asshole. He was so obviously evil and they gave him so many chances. They became best buds with him for seemingly no reason.

Whatever though, I guess that's enough venting.

First time watcher! Season 3 thoughts

Season 3

Previous seasons are in my post history.

  1. “Oh look more survivors! And the best way for us to kill walkers is to have more survivors. Let’s work together and nope can’t do that let’s be hostile to everybody else! That should do it!!”
  2. Merle!!! I was missing him all S2. Can’t wait for him and Daryl to meet back up.
  3. How is everyone such a good shot? 99.9% accuracy to the head with ease. Never picked up a gun before? Just take the Shane Crash Course and you’ll be hitting bullseyes with handguns from 600 yards out.
  4. “You know what would make this ordeal so much easier? Let’s bring a newborn into it. It’s a cake walk for all us adults, so how about something that has to literally be carried everywhere? I’m basically a genius!”
  5. Damn killing off 2 main characters in the same episode like that? And so early in the season? (Or 3 apparently? Carol just disappears?) That’s pretty bold, but it also appears that a lot of the season will split time two main settings and groups, so not as much time for the individual characters.
  6. Man they really ramped up the gore this season.
  7. Okay so Carol is alive. So then who did they bury??
  8. Lol at the townspeople ready to bail like there’s something better out there. “Well we have electricity, water, and a clean bed in here, but out there is totes better.”
  9. In the Old Guy with a White Beard category, I’m on #TeamDale. Hershel just isn’t as cool.
  10. I really like Merle as a character. Very well written and acted. He is who he is. At first I didn’t like the Governor being the one to kill him, but it being a shot to the chest so that he turned and then Daryl having to finish him was really well done.
  11. I think they had too many things going on with the Governor. Is he power drunk? Is he wanting revenge for his zombie daughter? Is he just unhinged period?
  12. With that said, I liked that he survived the finale. Too many shows have a single season Big Bad that is intro’d in the season premier (or briefly in the prior finale), then get killed off in that season’s finale to close the season out. It’s so formulaic. I liked the deviation.
  13. Along the same lines, I expected them to leave the prison because the season is over so time for a new setting next season, so the twist that they actually stayed to defend was pretty cool.
  14. I do feel like they intro and then kill off characters a little too quickly. I would’ve liked more from Axel, for example.
  15. I had hoped for more flashbacks to get some backstory, but I realize that Fear the Walking Dead is filling that role more, even if it isn’t directly the backstory of the current characters but rather the outbreak as a whole.

That’s it for this go round.

Heres the issue with this season:

11 episodes in of this season, their have been no deaths, 2 semi decent episodes, and absolute boring filler. The thing is it's not just people on this sub complaining. Its reviewers online such as Forbes, TvLine, Uproxx and its showing on Rotten Tomatoes, with splats/ negative aggregates on each episode.

Its not a case of bad writing, crap sets and cringy moments (though that is very prevalent), its simply a case of absolutely nothing happening. Its got to the point where nothing has happened, you can actually spoil these episodes and it wouldnt affect the watch of the episode.

The audience on Twitter is also complaining enourmously, with the official page, getting flooded with comments of boring and pointless episode.

There is absolutely no way AMC dont realise, that its losing people, that Chambliss and Goldberg and Gimple are essentially ruining this show into shit and are the main cause for this crap.

I still dont know why they havent fired all 3, and Gimple should have been fired ages ago, way back in Season 8 of TWD.

However, there are still 5 left this season and of course the next 5 might be great. But unfortunately, they wont be.

I imagine Lord Bing of Candlewick would be a Reachman sworn to the Beesburys of Honeyholt. His consort, Lady Monica, would be the daughter of a minor Marcher Lord. They would have been loyalists during the Rebellion, as the Reach was in general, and would have supported Renly's bid as well.

This Logan/oil fields/"it's bigger than whatever" thing is setting up for Momo & Friends joining The Helicopter People which sets up the Rick movies and conflict with Mothership TWD.

So now the totally nonsensical Logan and the oil fields plot is apparently "bigger" than it seems to be. The only real explanation here is that Logan and his gang are a front for The Helicopter People. Logan only seems like he's roaming the desert with seven people in a truck because The Helicopter People don't want to seem like they're this massive group with tons of resources. The one resource they want is control over the oil fields, which would give them full on control over the region. By tussling with Logan, Team Fear is going to be ultimately revealed to be going up against The Helicopter People. Al will have to come clean about what she knows about them and will see Isabelle again. The issue here is that this group will then be like hey you want to help on this massive scale? WOW, THAT SOUNDS GREAT TO US! WHERE DO WE SIGN UP?

This results in Morgan, Dwight and the Fear characters actually being members of The Helicopter Group that winds up kidnapping Rick. This is how Rick and Morgan see one another again and there's some conflict for Morgan, who realizes that the group he's joined is wacko Trash Lady's people and ruh-roh, maybe this wasn't a great idea... How far down the rabbit hole is he going to go now? Ironically, Dwight would probably be of more help to Rick than Morgan might be. (That also would set up a scenario wherein Dwight could lifeboat his way back to the main show because Daryl's not going to begrudge anybody-- anybody-- who saved Rick or knows where he is or something.)

My theory on how the CRM/helicopter-people still manage to maintain helicopters YEARS after society fell. Thoughts?

So this is based off of what little we do know about the CRM alongside some details from the newest Fear TWD episode from tonight. I'm speculating that the trucker group (my mind blanked on the leader's name) are being contracted by the CRM similarly to how the garbage-people seemed to be in TWD, except these two communities were contracted for very different reasons.

So as we know from TWD, the garbage-people's dealings and interactions with the CRM seem to almost-entirely center around Human-trafficking in-exchange for supplies, as the CRM seems to have access to enough of a stockpile to trade supplies and for uknown reasons they're seeking to and have some need to acquire people.

Given the CRM's operations being conducted in a strictly covert manner they appear to limit their interactions with outsiders down to only trading for what they don't already have pr can't produce themselves. So if they do have an ongoing deal, what could the trucker's be contracted to do for the CRM? I'm speculating that the truckers are seeking-out the oil fields because the CRM hired them to secure a source of crude oil. Gas is beginning to go bad in Fear TWD which is years before Season 9 of TWD, yet the CRM still manages to fuel their helicopters.

I'm predicting that the CRM gains control of the oil field and given what we know, it seems within the realm of reason that they could have the capacity to run and operate a refinery to turn that crude-oil into useable fuel, hence why they still have air-transport in Season 9.

Just hear me out, lol! Here are a few of the main factors that made that theory spring to mind:

  • Morgan asks why he needs access to that quantity of fuel. And that is a simple question but it raises a good point, as it does seem to be quite an excessive amount of a resource for one small group to ever use.

  • the CRM has a vast range of operation, extending at least from Washington DC to New Mexico by means of their helicopters, which they still manage to fuel all the way up to Season 9 of TWD. These helicopters obviously require fuel; as we know from Fear TWD the gasoline is already beginning to go bad, meaning that despite however much fuel they had stockpiled, whatever the CRM haven't used would also be at-risk of going bad. Yet we still see helicopters in Season 9 of TWD.

  • in tonight's episode of Fear we hear (insert name of trucker-group's leader) state something along the lines of "what we're doing is important; what we're doing is helping far more, just not in the same way you help others, it's bigger than just me and you!" This isn't indicative of the CRM necessarily, but if one was contracted or acting on the behalf of a group like that, that certainly seems like something that one would say, plus it indicates that they might not be acting entirely on only their own self-interests.

Also side-note as I'm not too sure if this is relevant to my theory or not, but the truckers mention in the last episode that they've got access to more guns and ammo than they could ever need, which might be hinting at that firearms and ammo is part of what the CRM is offering them for their services, as it isn't explained elsewhere as to how they came about their impressive armory.

And not to mention all but 2 of their members all had M4/M16 type fully-automatic rifles, which are military-issue. "But I'm sure that the army left a ton of those laying around after they were overrun".... yes, but also they all have essentially the same model with little to no attachments/accessories, almost as if it came straight from a bulk stockpile. And obviously even if that could be explained by the military having left a lot laying around, that doesnt explain how they have an overabundance of ammunition, which doubt would've been left laying around nearly as much and in that quantity.

What do you guys think?

Anyone ever wonder why people don't just go back to hunter gather lifestyle instead of searching for canned foods, gas, and the like?

I can't help but think, if it were me in this world, I'd set up a camp in a nice, quiet location and just hunt and forage for food. I'd have a horse to get around, and I'd just sit back, enjoy nature, and maybe try to find a cure.

And of course, kill walkers as they come. But looking for guns, fighting, and all just seems weird. Like why would you want to be in control of this little subset of people that are still living? Seems like a waste of time.

I especially find food runs weird... like turn around! You have edible food in your yard - especially being in rural Georgia. May not be Popeyes... but you can make a meal out of it.

Is Season 4 coming to Netflix?

I just finished season three and thought it was the end, but I looked it up and there is a fourth season I have not seen, it isn't available on Netflix. I was really looking forward to seeing him turn into the Cadillac-Driving Bright coloured Suit-Wearing Saul Goodman we all know and love from BB. I also really wanted to see more of the future when he becomes gene. Do we se this in season four? Someone please let me know, along with if it is coming to Netflix.

season 4 and 5's plot contradict the point of the apocalypse

there's something very specific missing from the past 2 seasons that was present in 1-3.

what i'm talking about are character NEEDS.

people NEED food, water, shelter, gasoline for their cars, medicine for their sick, and ammo for their guns.

decisions and conflict in apocalyptic fiction are mostly decided on the group's supply of the aforementioned. moral dilemmas where complex individuals are confronted with decisions that make them choose between their own group's well-being and their principles are what make this genre so interesting.

these limitations are present and a driving factor in season 1-3.

seasons 4-5 provide the group with near limitless amounts of food, water, meds, guns, etc etc...

the only real 'threat' our group has now is the threat to it's own safety during pointless expeditions, which itself is null because we the audience are accustomed to the characters surviving time and time again even under the most intense odds without any real consequence. stupid decisions don't lead to stupid consequences because every time a dumb decision is made, they're saved by the writers.

the entire point of these expeditions are stupid.

instead of creating a place that would foster the growth of civilization, they spend their time distributing supplies to random individuals whose motives may or may not align with their own beliefs. why not use these resources to create farms? machine shops? power generators?

why are you throwing boxes of crap around everywhere?

stupid.

From an outsiders perspective Momo's group are actually the villains.

So Momo & Friends are driving around the countryside hording all the resources that are miraculously left in the world. Food, bottled water, medicine, walkie talkies, batteries, vehicles, oil/gas etc. they're taking it all for themselves and controlling their distribution, ensuring the only way you have access to the supplies you need to continue to live in this post-apocalyptic hellscape is by joining their cult.

If you resist, like Logan, they deny you what you need. And these are supposed to be the good guys eh?

[SPOILERS] Something I don't get about Jon in the last season

What prevents him from leaving the Night's Watch and going back to his family and pals if he so wants to ?

He was sent there as a compromise with the Unsullied and Dohtraki instead of being executed. But these 2 groups are now gone from Westeros. The rest of the Lords wouldnt care about it, in fact they would probably be on his side for ending her reign. Even more, most wouldnt even be aware of it as it was barely adozen present at the sentence.

So, what do you think ?

Excellent Sci-Fi channel miniseries you may not have seen - The Lost Room (2006). Only 3 episodes of 90 minutes each about a supernatural hotel room, rated 8.2 on IMDb.

An incredible show from start to finish--I haven't stopped thinking about it since I saw it in 2006. It combines some bizzare original ideas with the rare quality of characters treating the supernatural with the appropriate awe and fear. I can only find it streaming on Amazon for $3 an episode, but its well worth the price of admission.

By the way--the episode descriptions include major spoilers. Avoid if you plan to check out the series.

I get the guy is lying but he called him out so terribly and in front of everyone. [SPOILERS] I’m not one much for dreams becoming reality, but this one was too real not to share.

I gotta share a NyQuil fueled fever dream I had last night.

I had a super vivid dream that next year, before the GoT prequel comes out HBO will announce a secret, feature-length GoT special they have been working on. Fast forward to the premiere of the secret special that they haven’t released any info on other than stating it truly ties the ending of the story together and that HBO had planned doing this from the beginning. (Yeah right)

Basically it picks up exactly 7 years after the events of season 8 and it details the story of what our surviving characters have been up to. Arya and here crew (what’s left) have been at sea for nearly six years. They’ve discovered several large and small islands over the course of the last 7 years, but finally stumble upon a large, fully developed continent. Tyrion is prospering as the HotK and even has a stable relationship with a common woman that survived Dani’s onslaught. Brienne has built up the Kings Guard. Lord Bron just celebrated the grand opening of King’s Landing’s first brothel (several already open in High Garden). Sam has written 4/7ths of the book Song of Ice and Fire but seems to have hit a major wall and hasn’t added anything to it in nearly 5 years. Always promising to release the 5th part soon. (That was a joke and I didn’t dream that). Gendry is doing great as the Lord of the River Lands, but hasn’t married yet. Sansa has become are very cold but fair leader. The North has been the victim of many severe raids to the point of near rebellion. Most of the raids are due to scars that the white walkers left and the fact that many of the Lords don’t believe a woman should be Queen or they believe the North should have stayed in the 7 Kingdoms. Sansa is so cold to the point she is doing the executions herself (as her father did) and almost enjoys them. her Maester fears for her mental stability and believes marrying a man will help melt her frozen heart. It’s safe to say Sansa disagrees entirely to the point of threatening the Maester... subtly. That brings us to Jon... he has married a gorgeous wildling woman and has explored the North further than anyone else. As the ice and snow continue to melt he and Tormund continue until they discover an entirely new world North of the True North. A severely dangerous world that has many threats no one has ever faced... My dream then cut to black. But the sound of large wings slowly gets louder. Until the rhythm of the wings begin to match the rhythm of drums as the screen fades into a tomb lit by dozens of torches. The tomb is that of the Great Pyramid of Meereen. The dream pans down slowly to reveal a female corpse wrapped in loose rags. As the drums beat faster the dream cut to a zoom in of the hands. The hands although stiff and lifeless begin to shake. The dream then cuts back to a view of the wrapped body and the drums beat faster, the body begins to levitate until it is out of view. The dream cuts to black, the drums stop. Total silence for half a second then, a loud, powerful roar...

Again this was a NyQuil fueled fever dream I had last night. It was one of those dreams that when you wake up you’re sad to realize it was just a dream and more than likely will NEVER become reality. I felt like sharing it with you all.

I finally got to see season 4 and I’m underwhelmed

I don’t have cabe anymore. I used to buy the seasons on iTunes (started with Breaking Bad season 4) so I could watch the show immediately. But after two seasons if that money got tight and my computer got slow and couldn’t justify the memory for it. So I had to wait and watch season 3 on Netflix.

Netflix refuses to put season 4 up, so I had to wait and avoid spoilers for like two years. DVD came out and I was finally able to snag it from the library this week (it’s been constantly out for months). And after finally watching it, I liked it but also am kind of annoyed.

Maybe it’s just me, but I want the Saul Goodman show, bot the Breaking Bad prequel. Sure there’s bound to be some crossover in those objections and I like some of that, but I didn’t need Gus at all, and the show doubled down o this stuff in season 4. I miss Jimmy-centric stuff. I miss more of the legal shenanigans and humor. I like the stuff with Kim and feel like that sometimes gets sidetracked too.

What’s worrying is the show to me is starting to fall into all the classic prequel traps of over-explaining things. I don’t care when Gus built the superlab. I don’t need yo know who did it or how. While I get it was necessary to establish Hector’s stroke a some point, I certainly didn’t need or want an origin story for his friggin’ bell.

We’re getting Jimmy to become Saul and that’s good. But I want the show focused on him. It’s like it doesn’t know what to do with Mike so they have to create his own little pocket show to keep him involved.

It’s not a bad season, but I don’t think it’s the best. Again, maybe it’s just me, but I want the Saul Goodman prequel, not the Breaking Bad prequel. I would hate the show to fall into the trap of non-BB viwers not being able to follow things because they are references to later events.

[Spoilers] Princed that was promised

Does anyone feel like the Prince That Was Promised is Jon Snow, and the "darkness" that he/she was going to stop was not the Knight King, but in fact Danny and her army?

During Danny's victory speech after the burning of Kings Landing, she talks about not only "freeing the people of kings landing" (aka burning them), but freeing the rest of the world. That "We will not stop until we have liberated the world".

I think the Knight King was a distraction, and Danny is the true darkness that the prophecy speaks of. Aligning with the "Prince that was promised" when Jon kills her.

Thoughts?

About six years late

Just finished the show and wow I’m amazed. Started watching a month ago and I regret not watching it sooner. Everything about it is top notch , the cinematography, the dialogue, character development, the plot , everything. The last season went by so fast , I wish it would have taken me longer to finish it . The ending was perfect too. This is easily the greatest tv show I have ever seen.

Although it seemed super rushed I actually like the ending. I wish there was more but I thought it isn't as bad as everyone makes it seem. Is it possible that people hated it so much cause they had to wait over a year for the final episodes only to be disappointed. Maybe watching it straight through without the 18 month break influence my opinion. Do you guys think this has had an effect or do you think it would still be horrible disregarding the huge break?

I stuck with this all throughout season 4, tried to give season 5 a chance but im so frustrated at this point with the whole ordeal with Madison, Morgan and the story.

The only reasons that might bring me back is if they either bring back Madison, actually do something with Morgan and Dwight or make a actually interesting story which from the looks of it, scott gimple and the writers are incapable of doing at this point.

Why Hank didn't figure it out sooner.

The more times that I rewatch the show, the more that I come to respect Hank. He's shrewder than he intially comes across as.

I realized today that the only reason that Hank didn't immediately figure out that Walt was Heisenberg was because Hank did figure it out. By using Occam's Razor, Hank does indeed come to the right conclusion very quickly, and even suggests to Walt that his name fits the initials.

By responding with "you got me," Walt temporarily throws Hank off the trail. Nonetheless, it's neat that Hank did come to the right conclusion almost immediately. It was only because it was so evident, that even a man of Hank's experience and intelligence couldn't initially accept it.

Season 5 is really just the left-hand inverse of season 1

Walt and Jesse are in the same place as they were when they were starting up. They could've actually directly gone to cooking in tented houses in season one. The major difference, and what prevented something so secure (not having to go to Tuco) at the beginning there is the connections they've made since then, Saul and Mike, and the people Saul and Mike could hook them up with. But that brings it's own problems, the mutual resentment Mike and Walt have for each other , the guys in prison who need to be paid, and the fact that Mike doesn't respect Walt. Season 5 interests me because there are many scenes where it's just two people talking in a dark room, which feels like the world doesn't matter at all for the moment and a very intimate focus is put on the two people talking, usually Walt and Jesse. If you look at season 1 it has similar encounters, but they're usually in a well-lit place, during the daytime, so it seems more like it's two amateurish people in the world, not precisely sure what to do. The arrow is drawn back, but who Walt and Jesse are is worn on their sleeves and you can't control that.

But as we see - it all crumbles, despite Walt thinking he finally has control and everything figured out. The factors he can't account for or control are Jesse's feelings, especially after the kid's death in Dead Freight, and the fact that the drug trade and controlling what people do isn't a neat checklist. The left-hand inverse of Jesse, Todd, even shows up. Those scenes where Walt has ditched Jesse and he's cooking with Todd are a little surreal. Jesse and Todd aren't so dissimilar in appearance and upbringing, but completely different people on the inside.

Something I've been thinking about recently.

I changed my mind about Skyler.

As like many, I loathed Skyler. Well, at least when I first watched the series. I thought she was annoying af, nagging, and wouldn’t get off everyone’s backs...

I‘m re-watching the series (almost finished, actually), and with the exception of season one and partly two, I actually have sympathy for her.

BEFORE YOU THROW TOMATOES, LET ME EXPLAIN!

She’s essentially the glue that is holding the family together. When Walt lets his “fame” go to his head, she’s the one who is thinking rationally and actually wants to get her kids away from the danger that follows Walt. She fucks Ted, but that’s whatever.

I actually think I hate Walt (and Marie, of course.) He became too full of himself.

The more posts directed toward Andrew and Ian the better?

Dear Andrew and Ian — The worst part of Fear is now the childish humor. It went from having a dark plot with fierce dialogue and clever humor to a foolish plot, careless dialogue and cringeworthy attempts at humor. The current plot and dialogue make the show uninteresting, the humor (or lack thereof) makes the show unbearable. Sincerely, a former fan

[Spoilers] Fear, Why did Chris kill that dude?

You know- the guy he shot who was tied up when they were on the boat.

OK, sure, I get it. He said something about how he was upset he didn't shoot them when they boarded the boat. So you can assume he felt like he needed to right a wrong and kill the guy.

With that said, why did he think his excuse would fly? "He was sick and he was going to turn." They all know the rules at this point. Chris' mom even told them, everyone turns when they die no matter what. Did they really go that long before telling him how the rules work? Did they go the entire time in Los Angeles and on the boat without telling him shit? He never asked anyone? "Hey, you know, I was just wondering, how do they turn into zombies? Do you have to get bit first and then you get infected? Or, you know, just wondering how that works."

How could he possibly go that long and expect to get away with saying something stupid like, "He was infected and was going to turn."

Now, lets assume they pulled a Rick at the end of season 2, by hiding vitally important pieces of information. After all, Travis did scold Nick one time about telling Chris how the whole zombie thing worked at the beginning. So lets just say they went nuclear and refused to tell him anything or explain to him why they had to kill his mom. Even if that's the case. Even if Chris thought he was sick and was going to turn, he's tied to a fucking chair. You don't need to preemptively shoot them in the fucking head. He saw Susan grabbing through the fence, he saw the others grabbing at the chain link fence on that island. He knows they're stupid and not super ridiculously strong and the dude he shot was firmly tired to a chair. WTF bro? How do you think that's going to fly? Why would you think anyone would believe that bullshit.

[S2 Spoiler] First time watcher giving my thoughts on each season. Time for Season 2!

Season 1 thoughts here.

Alright, so Season 2 is in the books. One of the benefits of shorter seasons like S1 is there’s less need for filler time. I feel like some of S2 could have been trimmed down a bit, but hey they needed 13 episodes. Anyway onto the thoughts:

  1. Why was this farm okay? None of the others are, but this one is? They don’t seem to have any sort of reason for why. There’s the one scene about the walkers not making it through the creek, but unless they’re on an island, that doesn’t make sense.

  2. Get some Glenn!

  3. When I first saw the note from Glenn about doing it in the barn I thought “oh they’ve got walkers in the barn” but then I went “no wait! I bet they have Sophia in the barn and they’re trying to hurry them along so they can raise her.” Then it turned out to be walkers and I was like “oh that’s boring”. Then they killed them all and I was like “well alright that’s done.” Then I went “oh shit!”

  4. Shane, Shane, Shane, Shane, Shane. Tsk tsk.

  5. Lori is being a real Kate (I told y’all I was getting Lost vibes).

  6. They really need to work on continuity errors. They can be pretty jarring. One example: After they shoot about 20 walkers in the barn, they bury 3 and burn like 6. Where are the others? Wasn’t a very big fire for how many cane rambling out of the barn.

  7. In my previous post, I mentioned some issues with the timeline, mainly that it was 5 months that Rick was in a coma with no electricity running his machines and no IV. Others responded that there’s a later reveal that it’s only about 4 weeks. I pointed out all the evidence suggesting it really was as long as I initially thought. Well there’s new evidence in 2.10 to support me. In the talk between Rick and Shane, Shane mentions it all started with vague reports on the news and then 2 weeks later all hell broke loose and the military was killing civilians. Add that with Jenner’s numbers (194 days total and 60 since it went global), and it definitely appears that the hospital flashback was closer to the 194 than the 60.

  8. Daaallleee NOOOOOOO

  9. It’s really cool that they never run out of bullets unless they’re about to shoot each other. Hershel’s 60-shot shotgun is an engineering marvel.

  10. Man I’m tired of Carl. It’s really no offense to his actor, but child characters are just so hard to write well and pull off. It’s obvious that adults are writing his lines, adults are telling him how to act, etc. There’s a reason so many shows go out of their way to avoid having kid characters.

  11. Well the RV had a good run.

  12. So now they can turn without being bit or scratched? Just die and poof you’re a zombie now? “We’re all infected” isn’t a good explanation because others had died without turning before. But Shane turns within 30 seconds?

  13. Uhhhh badass walker handler? I can dig it.

  14. People gripe about SPOILERS descent into madness in Game of Thrones, but Rick’s is pretty unbelievable, too. Maybe he’ll be normal again for S3.

Anyhow, that’s all my thoughts throughout the season. It skews toward the end of the season, with a lot of them just the last few episodes. Agree with me, yell at me, tell me I’m pretty, whatever you feel like.

How Do They Blend In With Just Masks?

In Season 1,5, and 6, it is shown that you can cover yourself in zombie innards to blend in with zombies.  This let's us know that zombies rely heavily on smell to find their prey, with sound being another factor. This also let's us know that even though one does not look like a zombie, the smell of innards are enough of a disguise.

The Whisperers do not cover themselves in zombie innards, just masks.  The masks do not fool the real zombies, since many zombies' eyes have rotted away, and it's been established earlier that one does not have to look like a zombie to fool them.

So how exactly are the Whisperers able to move freely amongst real zombies? The masks themselves do not give off enough of a smell, especially since they've been dried out.

[SPOILERS] The War of the Long Night felt like an insult to the people watching the show, don't ya think?

You see, i just finished season 8, and I couldn't believe it was way worse than I thought. The whole season felt like the writer just gave up on the show.

As an example I'm going to use episode 3. First of all, why did everyone become so dumb all of a sudden? I mean, yeah, they tried to dumb all characters down in season 7, but come on. The whole war strategy they had made utterly no sense. Why the heck would they fight the White Walkers head on, if they had time to dig up ditches beforehand and set them on fire? They had enough time to dig up ditches, why didn't they make them a bit further away from the city walls to hold the WW further away, and why didn't they place the Dragons in front of the walls, so that any White Walker that crosses over these ditches gets burned to a crisp? Why charge at an army of dead people if they had two fully grown Dragons, ditches, a guy that literally knows everything, and a fucking army that could defend the city from the inside if need be, and Tyrion fucking Lannister himself?

Of course, at first, I was like maybe the had too because the NK had a dragon too, but they had two! They had a guy that could tell if the NK is advancing, and could give them information about his every move. Nope, instead, they just hand over Bran to Greyjoy to protect him from the NK. What the fuck? I don't know, but I guess they were just busy storming off every time someone said something at almost every scene that they couldn't build up a plan.

I don't understand how such horrible writing could even pass through all people involved in production. This couldn't have been any worse.

All in all, guess the only good thing about season 8 is that there is no season 9!

[SPOILERS] Game of Thrones is going to age horribly

If you think of Game of Thrones as one giant story, seasons 1 - 4 are Act I, season 5 - 7 are Act II, and season 8 is Act III.

Act I was absolutely amazing, it was the War of the Roses with an amazing fantasy setting and super well written characters. The story felt more grounded and the dialogue and character development were incredible. Plus Joffrey, Tywin, Ned, Robb Stark, Robert Baratheon, and Catelyn were all characters that added a lot to the show, their deaths definitely came at a price.

Act II is where things start to get dicey. The dialogue and character development started getting worse and worse, and the show increasingly became a generic fantasy epic type of story. Characters like Arya, Tyrion, Varys, and Littlefinger really suffered from poor writing, and they became shells of themselves. Plus on top of that the story, instead of being based on the Wars of the Roses, became centered around about ice zombies, dragons, faceless assassins, stone men, etc.

Act III is where everything fell apart. The dialogue and character development were just awful. Plus the story was super rushed and it felt extremely contrived, plus there were too many plot holes and plot contrivances.

As a whole, Game of Thrones is an amazing intro, squandered by a lackluster second act, and an awful ending

Zero rewatchability
