season 4 and 5's plot contradict the point of the apocalypse

there's something very specific missing from the past 2 seasons that was present in 1-3.

what i'm talking about are character NEEDS.

people NEED food, water, shelter, gasoline for their cars, medicine for their sick, and ammo for their guns.

decisions and conflict in apocalyptic fiction are mostly decided on the group's supply of the aforementioned. moral dilemmas where complex individuals are confronted with decisions that make them choose between their own group's well-being and their principles are what make this genre so interesting.

these limitations are present and a driving factor in season 1-3.

seasons 4-5 provide the group with near limitless amounts of food, water, meds, guns, etc etc...

the only real 'threat' our group has now is the threat to it's own safety during pointless expeditions, which itself is null because we the audience are accustomed to the characters surviving time and time again even under the most intense odds without any real consequence. stupid decisions don't lead to stupid consequences because every time a dumb decision is made, they're saved by the writers.

the entire point of these expeditions are stupid.

instead of creating a place that would foster the growth of civilization, they spend their time distributing supplies to random individuals whose motives may or may not align with their own beliefs. why not use these resources to create farms? machine shops? power generators?

why are you throwing boxes of crap around everywhere?

stupid.
