I thought Team Mo Mo had a wealth of supplies, and that's why they're helping everyone. So how did they run out of everything on their short walk to Humbug Gulch?

Not only did they run out of supplies, but they ran out of hope too. Where's the characters that fight, endure, and overcome? What happened to their "we can do it" attitude?
