I'm rewatching the series yet again and still noticing new things. One parallel stuck out to me between the 1st and 5th seasons.

When Walt strangles Krazy-8 in season 1, he collapses on him and says "I'm sorry" multiple times through tears. And even when he knew for sure that Krazy-8 was planning to stab him, he still hesitated up until Krazy-8 acted upon it.

When he shoots Mike in season 5 however, he first explains how he didn't need to and then casually says "I'm sorry, Mike", like it's just a common mistake he made. He has gotten so used to it that he doesn't even think before shooting someone. And after the fact, he still doesn't initially think about what he has done (like in season 1), but whether or not there was another way.

The difference in "I'm sorry" really stuck out to me.
