I know that Mike didn't want to kill anyone in ABQ for whatever reason(s), but his actions during this job was so unbelievably bad, and arguably out of character for Mike.
For starters, Mike did not know Tuco or his mentality, or how he acted. Nacho even told Mike that Tuco shot one of his dealers in the face for absolutely no reason or provocation. Mike had no idea how Tuco would react during the job; it's entirely possible that Tuco would immediately attack or shoot Mike in the face for crashing his car into him. Yet somehow Mike knew exactly how Tuco would react, and knew that he wouldn't be in trouble until the police arrived?
Secondly, plain and simple, Mike almost died. Tuco put his gun to Mike's head, and Mike hit the gun away, but if Mike had been a millisecond slower or Tuco a millisecond faster, Mike's brains would have been all over the sidewalk.
Thirdly, head trauma is no laughing matter. Getting punched in the face repeatedly, especially when you're a 60+-year-old man, could cause serious brain damage. It could have had injuries that would have stayed with Mike for the rest of his life. Even if Mike had insurance, he would have had to pay thousands of dollars for treatment as a result.
Fourthly, his involvement in this entire slapstick comedy skit was completely not worth it. He got a beating, and he was put into the Cartel's hot waters for only 25,000$.
It's true that this isn't the same Mike in Breaking Bad, he's not a hardened criminal (yet), but Mike earlier in the show was able to investigate Nacho and discover all the things about him; he was shown in the show to be careful, cautious, and protective of himself. His actions during his "job" with Tuco was so out-of-character, even for rookie criminal Mike.
