I see a lot of people propping up Daryl for being one of the best h2h fighters on the show, particularly after his fight with Beta... But am I the only one who disagrees?
He's always been an average, sometimes sleazy fighter to me, even back when he was first introduced with the 2v1 with Rick and Shane. In season 5 he couldn't take that cop guy from the hospital. He struggled with that puny Richard guy in season 7. In the few times he's tussled with Rick he could barely hold his own either.
With the Beta fight, I feel like it was simply the writers doing that he was able to take him on. And even so, the way he fought was nothing special. When Beta was throwing him around, Daryl didn't handle it any different from the average guy trying to survive.
The way he fights in general is very basic, and he does this weird punch all the time where it looks like he's trying to bear hug his opponent lol.
