SPOILERS!!
While Walt was feeding into his unleashed greed and ruthlessness, knocking down everything and everyone in his path, Gilligan broke Jesse’s heart multiple times. I always thought Jesse was better with Andrea than he ever was with Jane, and a big part of that is his relationship with Brock. However, she dies in the end of S5, so we never really see the fallout. He’s never able to have one as he’s locked in Todd’s cage. The story is very different after Jane’s death. We saw him spiral down, deeper than any other character I’ve seen on TV, and eventually hit rock bottom. The image of Jesse clinging to Walt, crying in the drug house (I think we can all picture it), is one of the most powerful moments in the entire show. Killing Jane was the worst thing Vince did to Jesse because he actually wrote the repercussions.
With Walt, it’s different. I would say cancer, but the diagnosis is what unlocks the sociopathic super-genius we all know and love. It’s hard to pinpoint the worst thing that happened to Walt because he essentially dominates the entire story. Thoughts?
