The story picks up after Rick wakes up in the infirmary of a new world(community). The scenes are all to farmiliar as he wakes up in a hospital bed, with pictures of Carl, Judith and Michonne next to him. Just like 10 years ago (guessing) since originally waking up. there’s also balloons next to him. this time he notices their from a particularl person hes rather not expecting. Rick stumbles out of bed to read the cards and balloons are from Jadis. “Jadis?....” Rick says to himself, as he’s checking on his wounds he remembered having. Incomes a farmiliar face, the queen of the junkyard, Jadis. Rick is genuinely confused by her appearance. He had a moment of clarity and thinks his thoughts were true all along. Ricks attitude immediately changes to rage and anger. Lunges at Jadis , while still attached to the IV. Using the tubing, Rick attempts to strangle her, but (still) has a change of heart and lets her up. He demands to know what’s going on and where his family is. Jadis starts crying and said she had to. They had to to survive. Rick doesn’t like where this is going, sees his axe and clothes and runs for them. In a crazed state of anger , he makes it to the axe along with Jadis on his back. He’s having flash backs, Joe; biting his neck , the governor attacking the prison, Negan bashing Glens skull in. He blacks out. For a good 3 minutes. No visual. Then a loud exhaling grunt in the background can be heard. The old , do-it-for his family Rick is back. He snaps out of it. Smashes the back of his head against Jadis , knocking her down. He gets up , turns around and with one blow of the axe, one clean swing up and down. Followed by a flashback of him killing the inmate in the prison. He gets up and wipes off himself and gets changed as fast as he can. He’s looking for his family. He passes room after room. Dormitories they look like. After the 10th or so room, he approaches what he thinks is a chapel. A sign with a cross stands at the door, surprisingly no guard. As he steps in the doorway, a group of people are seen. they’re all saying a specific chant to an individual in the middle of the room. There must have been 30 to 40 people. He knows from his past, he’s out numbered, but he is desperate as he has no idea where he is or his family. Axe in his right hand, he enters the room “I’m looking for my family”. cue title scene “ Return of the Mad King “.
