Rewatching and had a question about Walt’s motives in “Mas”

Why did Walt accept Gus’ offer?

SUMMARY

When Walt is given half of Jesse’s owed amount at the red light, he’s confused and then realizes it’s Gus’ ploy to get him to agree to the $3 million deal.

He expects to leverage Walt’s and Jesse’s falling out.

Knowing Walt’s bitter resentment at being cut out of Grey Matter, we understand that the very idea of Jesse cooking “his” meth, profiting, and benefiting from its reputation is very upsetting to him.

But even with this and the promise of a proper state of the art lab, he still turns Gus down.

Walt tells Gus that he cannot continue down the path that has lost him his family, but Gus helps him justify his actions (and their consequences) by telling him that this is what a man does. A man provides.

ANALYSIS

Even if we assume that this has done a lot to clear Walt’s conscience and his guilt about what his actions have cost him and others... what gets him to sign the divorce papers and accept the deal?

We know that Walt has “more money than [he] knows how to spend”. Walt has already paid for his cancer treatment and left more than enough to guarantee his family a stable future. So, he has provided.

But his involvement in the Wayfarer 515 accident, Jane’s death, and separation from Skyler has finally put a stop to his greed and ego. He seems to be less tempted and more awake to the damage he is capable of. He has run out of excuses.

So why does he give up the hope of fixing his family life?

What happens between the “a man provides” speech and his announcing to Saul and Jesse that he’s accepted a partnership with Gus?
