Terriers is one of the all-time great one-season wonders

Just finished this up tonight and absolutely loved it. The chemistry between Donal Logue and Michael Raymond-James is top-notch—ten minutes into the first episode, I felt like I’d already been watching them for years. It shifts effortlessly between lighthearted buddy comedy and serious drama, and always feels cohesive. The characters feel so real and lived-in; very few shows in just their first season have such an acute sense of exactly who these people are. It’s immensely entertaining, funny, and watchable, yet just as complex as any great prestige drama. If FX did a better job marketing it, I think it would’ve gotten the five-or-six-season run it deserved. At just 13 episodes, it’s a quick and easy binge, and one that stands with the very best FX has to offer. I can’t recommend it enough.

Travelers was such an amazing show with a deep and well structured character arc and story line, it's shows like that deserve to be picked up again.

As much as I hated Will and Grace, this show amazed me and I was engrossed in every episode. The way they transferred bodies and the depth of the Director itself were absolutely amazing. It was cancelled and it was a true shame, one of the only shows I think would if done really well if it was watched more.

Started rewatching the entire show from the start and finished season 1 &2 and now started season 3

It’s kinda weird to see the early days of the outbreak and compare it to a decade after it started, when people created new societies while others are still roaming the woods and walking in the middle of the roads finding whatever expired unopen canned beans are left, whatever unopened ammo boxes still remain it’s crazy

Rosita in season 10

I wish Rosita had gotten more to do during this season. She’s been given a lot of action scenes which is great, but for the most part she’s been relegated to that 4-way love triangle. It’s a shame because she’s part of that veteran group of characters who have been around since season 4/5 (Eugene, Gabriel, Aaron), all of whom have had their fair share of driving the plot. I thought that she’d get some spotlight in the finale, especially since most people thought Gabriel would bite the dust, but she ended up not even appearing. I know Christian Serratos was cast as Selena on Netflix, so I don’t think she’ll have much screen time in the third part of season 10. A bit unfortunate.

[SPOILERS] My Perfect Version of Season 8, Part 1

Even since the show ended, I've always thought "What would be the perfect Season 8 for me?". I had this conversation with a friend recently and we had a lot of fun sharing our thoughts and what we would change.

I'm mostly okay with the first few episodes of S8. I especially love the Brienne knighting moment.

So I just thought I'd share what I think would've been a better Season 8 and see what you think. Starting with the Night King at the Wierwood garden.

---

The Night King and White Walkers arrive in the Wierwood garden where Bran and Theon are. They're the first enemies here (my only retcon is the undead haven't reached this spot before) so all the guards are still alive. The guards, fearfully, attack the Night King but we instead get a badass scene where Night King unleash all hell onto them. Imagine Darth Vader in Rogue One but better. I think it's ridiculous that we never see the Night King obliterate hopeless souls like that.

Bran senses that Jon is just outside but being blocked by Ice Viserion. He warges into the dragon to restrain it, allowing Jon to pass through.

Jon, along with Jamie and Brienne from another entrance, now enter the garden and were immediately stopped by the White Walkers. Theon, the only one left between the Night King and Bran (still busy restraining Viserion so no "good man" here), lunges toward the Night King. Theon gets killed easily but Jon witnessed his heroism. Distracted, Jon gets struck by a White Walker but Arya shows up just in time to kill it.

Now or never, Jon sprints towards the Night King and engages in a duel we've been anticipating for years since Hardhomme. Ever so often, the Night King has a 2-3 second opening to pull off a fancy magic attack like shooting icy stalagmites from the ground or something. The Night King also tries to resurrect more dead bodies but Jon continues attacking to cancel it. Soon, Jon realises he'll never win this fight. All he can do is to keep the Night King occupied to not have a chance to use his powers.

Meanwhile, Arya aids Jamie and Brienne fight the White Walkers and eventually manage to take down all of them. Arya rushes to Bran and carries him out of the garden for safety.

We get a 3-on-1 fight with Jon, Jamie, and Brienne versus the Night King. It would've been the best fight scene in the series. Jon gets thrown far away, near the garden entrance. Then Jamie gets a fatal stab in the gut. We're down to only Brienne now.

Outside, Viserion is still struggling with Bran's warging. In agony, it accidentally knocks over a tower, which injures the escaping Arya and Bran himself. This causes Bran to lose control over the dragon. Viserion immediately spots an injured Jon at the garden entrance and charges up a fiery breath.

Cutting back to the garden, Brienne is putting up a superb fight but eventually, she gets knocked down, drops her sword, and the Night King delivers his last strike... only to be blocked by Jamie's gold hand. With the Night King's weapon now embedded into the gold, Jamie yanks it away, disarming the enemy. He swiftly picks up Briennes' Valyrian steel Oathkeeper with his left hand and thrusts it through the Night King's face.

The Night King bursts into ice. Viserion and the all the undead disintegrate into corpses. Arya returned to give Jon a big hug. Jamie spends his final moments in Brienne's arms and finally dies - forever to be remembered as the Night King Slayer.

---

I'll post about the King's Landing stuff if you guys like this :)

El Camino soundtrack - interview with Dave Porter & Thomas Golubic

EL CAMINO: INTERVIEW WITH COMPOSER DAVE PORTER AND MUSIC SUPERVISOR THOMAS GOLUBIĆ It’s already been a year since Netflix released El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie to critical acclaim; and it’s taken that long to secure a soundtrack release for the film. No matter, the new El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie – Original Soundtrack Vinyl 2XLP is well worth the wait. Featuring every bit of music heard in the film — in the exact order heard in the film, no less — this new soundtrack is a must-have for fans of the Breaking Bad universe. If you needed further coaxing, composer Dave Porter and music supervisor Thomas Golubić sat down to discuss their work on this new release with ComingSoon.net, which you can read below.

El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie – Original Soundtrack Vinyl 2XLP features nearly every needle drop from the film, including songs by Lynyrd Skynyrd, England Dan & John Ford Coley, Jim White (Feat. Aimee Mann), Red Snapper, and more, plus exclusive liner notes by composer Dave Porter and music supervisor Thomas Golubić.

Purchase El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie – Original Soundtrack Vinyl 2XLP here!

ComingSoon.net: Let’s talk about this new 2-LP album for El Camino, which features every bit of music from the Netflix film. How did this release come about?

Thomas Golubić: I think it’s one of those things where the Vince Gilligan universe — what is so wonderful of being part of it and being part of this one in particular — is everything is done to exacting detail. And everything is done with an investment of creativity. So like every department really puts themselves into the experience and it all channels through Vince. And this movie is a good example of that. So I think the soundtrack came together slowly, perhaps, because a lot of times you try to time soundtracks with the release of the film, but I think that we always feel that the legacy of the work is the most important thing. We had really wonderful and patient partners in Mondo. They were just absolutely wonderful to work with. And we got a chance to kind of get really beautiful artwork and really unique artwork from like another member of our creative family. So it’s like, everybody got a chance to kind of add their paintbrush, and everybody did something, I think, really beautiful. So that’s what I like about it taking a little bit longer than you’d expect. But it’s been a really, really enjoyable experience.

Dave Porter: Yeah, Thomas got it, right. If there’s anything we have learned from working with Vince Gilligan, and all the other producers of all these things is that it’s much better to do it right, than to do it fast. And so that enabled us to really take our time with this. And I think that, particularly for fans of the Breaking Bad universe, they’re gonna love this thing, because it has so much quality inherent in all the thought process that was put into it.

CS: How do you guys decide which songs to include in the film and subsequently the soundtrack?

Dave: That’s one of the things Thomas does best.

Thomas: I would love to say that it’s really easy and the first idea is the last idea, but it’s never the case. Although I have to say one of the things I love about the experience of listening to the record — I listened to it again in preparation for the interviews that we’re doing this week — is that it is in the order of the film. And so I think what I liked so much about it is that it’s a little bit like if you’re going into a clockmakers video studio, and each room has another set of clocks that are all representing of a different, you know, part of their creative process, you get to really enjoy it. And I got to walk through the movie again and everybody’s there. In a weird way, like no, the most obvious answer is we took the sequence of the music in the film and replicated it on the album. And the number of not very good ideas that I worked on before getting to that very simple solution was insane. So I kind of work circles to try to figure out the right balance songs and score and the right energy and what do we include and not include and we just did the math on it and realized, wow, these four sides time out. In other words, with the technical limitations of a record, you have enough space to have a good quality sound recording on each side, they fall really comfortably in sections. And it was like the universe was saying this is ABCD, this is a two album set. And it’s literally all the music from the film so you have the experience as you’re going through it. I feel like it landed exactly where it needed to, though we probably made it more complicated than it needed to be as well. But, in the end, it ended up being really cool.

Dave: I love that about it too. One of the things that we always talk about — not only for score but for source also — is the musical journey that we’re following along with the film and how that’s helping to tell the story of the characters and the plot as the film moves along. I approached it that way when I wrote the music, I started at the very beginning and worked through it sequentially, which I don’t always do. But it made all the sense in the world for this movie because it is such a linear journey. Unlike Breaking Bad or Better Call Saul, the TV shows where we’re hopping around from character to character, sometimes in different storylines that are interwoven into each other, [El Camino] really is a coda of Jesse’s story, specifically; and follows him and in a pretty linear fashion from start to finish. And I love that the records follow that path without any picture.

CS: Speaking specifically of the score, what was it like to go back to Breaking Bad after all those years?

Dave: It was easier than I thought it might be. And I’ll tell you, if we had done El Camino a few years ago, in the earlier years of Better Call Saul, it would have been a much bigger juxtaposition. But what we have found, as we have been working on Better Call Saul, which is, of course, a prequel to Breaking Bad, as we get closer and closer to the end of Better Call Saul’s story, musically I’m getting closer and closer to the original Breaking Bad story. That’s just how the timeline works. And we’ve been introducing more and more Breaking Bad characters into Better Call Saul; and there’s just been that cohesion building up towards where we want them to begin Breaking Bad. So when I’ve already had Breaking Bad in my psyche, as we work that way. But then, of course, it is really a shift for El Camino to be at the end of Breaking Bad, which in itself is a bit of a shift musically over the course of that series. And so there was a little jump and a little trying to figure out where to go. One of the things that I really worked hard to do is to, at the very beginning of the film, El Camino, I tried to take over very sonically as closely as I could from when we left off in Breaking Bad. But then, after talking to Vince, we really wanted a little leeway to tell a new story. And really focus on a character I didn’t get to spend a whole lot of time with musically over the course of the series, originally. There always needed to be a connection to the Breaking Bad world and the connection to the Breaking Bad timeline, but — and keeping all of that in mind — we did want to expand the boundaries a little bit and tried to explore some new territory for El Camino.

CS: What’s it like working with Vince Gilligan? Does he let you do your thing, musically, or does he have very specific ideas he presents to you?

Thomas: It depends, really, on each project, which is kind of the interesting part. I mean, Vince Gilligan is my favorite creative collaborator. Of all the people that I’ve worked with over the years, I feel more in awe of what I learned — and how the joy of contributing to fulfilling his vision and the vision of the team, it’s my favorite thing. So, going in already, these are people I have enormous respect for, obviously. I have enormous affection for them personally, and the generosity that they show me and just getting a chance to contribute. And then also celebrating that process, even when I get it wrong, is really the best thing because I think that the ability to fail with your friends is like the greatest luxury I can think of when you’re trying to be creative. And I think that is something that is really exciting as part of that process — I get a chance to really test myself and know that if I fall flat on my face, I have a group that know that I tried and it was an interesting idea. And now, let’s move on and try another one.

Dave: That’s totally true in every sense. And, of course, the beauty of having the working relationship with Vince and the other producers now for as long as Thomas and I have had, we have that shorthand; and we have the advantage of skipping past bad ideas pretty quick when we can all be on the same page to realize they aren’t working. For me personally, you know, the experience of El Camino was quite different than working on either of the series because we had the luxury of time, which you often have for score on a film in a way that you just don’t on TV. In a television series, Thomas and I meet with Vince and the writers and editors for every episode to talk about what our musical tasks are for that episode. But then I’m on my own from there, working alone in my studio, and I’m sending them finished products, which they “yay” or “nay,” or we tweak from there. But in the process of working on the movie, actually, for the first time in however long I’ve worked with Vince — over a decade — he got the comforts to sit here in my studio on the couch while I worked, which was a fascinating new wrinkle for us. We had to tiptoe our way a little bit at first because we had never worked together that way before. In the end, it allowed for a greater level of collaboration on El Camino than we’ve ever been able to do before.

CS: Does the success of Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul and El Camino surprise you?

Thomas: That’s a good question. Ultimately, you’re in the trenches working on something and you hope that the world will recognize it. And sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. I’ll mention some of my favorite projects to people who tell me they have never heard of that. And it’s one of those things you realize people like lots of different things and there’s so much media out there. So to be part of something which has been resonating in a really powerful way with each community that embraces it, and a growing entity that’s part of this whole universe is really wonderful because you also see how invested everybody else gets into it. Matt Talbot, who did the artwork for the album, which is really unique and exciting, he used to create these wonderful posters for episodes of Better Call Saul; and he became a friend of our creative community. And so, having his work here, it’s just such a nice way of enjoying that particular part of that expanding growing family, and the fact that he knows about us because the show thankfully got successful — people started to really notice it and notice what we’re doing. And we kept on doing the best work we always could to make the best, most interesting story we could. We just feel very lucky that people have joined us in all these journeys. We try really hard to make this the best thing we can do. I’m just so proud of all the work. You can feel it when you watch it. It feels absolutely clear about what it is and it’s really beautiful in all of its individual moments.

El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie

Dave: Thomas and I are happy to be able to work on these projects with Vince. To me, what has always been the most astounding aspect of particularly this Breaking Bad universe, is its consistency. It’s just consistently good. Part of that I believe is Vince’s overarching attention to every detail, but at the same time his willingness to take an idea from absolutely anyone — the newest intern in the room can pipe off and feel comfortable piping up at any time and it’s an idea and he will absolutely consider. And that combined too with the luxury that we’ve all had as a group to have worked this long together and creatively push each other, every year that we get together to do better and better work has led to some remarkable stuff. Thomas and I take a very small amount of credit for all of it and are mostly just feeling very blessed to be part of it.

CS: Are there any additional Breaking Bad spin-off movies in development that you can share with us or shows.spinoffs that you would like to see at some point in the future?

Thomas: (Laughs.) If it existed we couldn’t talk about it anyway!

Dave: I will say that I don’t know any better than anybody else what the future holds or what Vince Gilligan is up to. I’m certainly the last to know. I would, of course, always be delighted to further explore this universe, but at the same time I’m actually kind of excited to see something totally new that Vince and all of us around the group could tackle. I know Vince has an endless amount of stories to tell and I certainly will always be available to him anytime.

Thomas: Same here. (Laughs.)

Is it possible that Hank is dirty?

I’m on a rewatch, about halfway through season 2 and a few scenes kind of popped that made me raise questions about Hank and his wealth.

  • His house is beautiful and in a moneyed area with a freakin mountain in his backyard. This by itself wouldn’t raise any red flags considering that they have a very small household.

-He whips out a big roll of cash when he reimburses the neighborhood kid for his RC car being destroyed by Marie. (That whole scene seems unnecessary to be honest unless it was to show that he always has a wad of cash)

-Marie has no compunctions about shoplifting/outright theft. Hank is well aware of the behavior but doesn’t seem alarmed by the actions until it starts affecting him professionally. Is it possible that she feels enabled because Hank is also taking money and or goods indiscriminately?

-His entire office gifts him Tuco’s grill! Cmon. That thing is not a mall kiosk grill, Gold and diamonds for sure. Yet the office felt like they could take it from evidence and give it to their boss as a gift for his promotion. Learned behavior maybe?

-Smaller stuff is: new vehicles, a luxury patio, a jet ski, MINERALS!

When Mike finds the money ($1.6m in $100 bills) in the Kettlemans bathroom he uses UV powder and UV light to locate the cash. BUT when he shines the UV light on the cash the security thread doesn't glow pink like it should under UV light!

These are either 1990-1996 or 1996-2003 $100 bills by the look of them, which would fit with the years BCS is set, both issues of the $100 bill had this security feature so why no glowing security thread damn it.

It's only 2-3 secs of screen time but it bugs me.

In the comics, Tyrese is a great character; but in the show he gets killed by a kid zombie

Both Beth and Tyrese were killed because of that annoying shit Noah and then Noah ends up as Walker food thanks to Nicholas making Tyrese and Beth's deaths useless

New (at least for me!) theory about how Gene may fix things.

Is it possible Gene may turn state's witness in an attempt to get immunity so he no longer has to run from the authorities?

While Walt is dead, Hank is dead, Gus is dead, etc., I assume there would be many unanswered questions and missing pieces. Saul would have a lot of information that would allow the DEA to "mop up" a lot of the loose ends and would allow them to potentially stamp out the last remnants of the cartel. I assume there are some mid level operatives still around and potentially trying to rebuild the empire, and it's likely Saul would have enough knowledge of them to be useful. I think he's realised that his life as a lawyer is over, but he could reinvent himself as a "reformed" criminal who helps the DEA uncover other drug operations by helping them find out who is money laundering, etc. He could also write books and become a speaker... which would play to his ego and his desire to be the performer and the centre of attention. And perhaps he is finally on the "good side", which would be a middle finger to Chuck.

Apologies if someone has already posted a similar idea.

Ernie is the best character on the show.

Title says it all. I really like Ernie and didn’t realize how much I missed him until I just saw the flashback in S4:E10. I don’t even know why, maybe it’s just his demeanor and presentation, but I like Ernie more than any secondary/minor role character on the show. He’s so sincere and I was sad to see him go after being fired.

I’d watch a spin-off show about Ernie running errands and the daily adventures he tackles.

Appreciation post for Ernie, one of the most underrated characters of the show.

Anyone else notice the rollercoaster of Walter White?

it's like

"I'm Heisenberg!!"

"Oh god please don't kill me!!!"

"I'M THE ONE WHO KNOCKS!!!"

"shit, not my family!!!"

"THIS IS MY EMPIRE!!!"

"Fuck I lost everything!!"

Its a really nice show and I am very impressed with the acting. I would never imagine the dad from Malcom in the middle being the same actor as Walter!

I tried introducing my wife to Breaking Bad after we watched Better Call Saul together

She only cares about Mike. She was completely indifferent to the show until Mike showed up and now she gets giddy every time he's on screen. Even Saul is a bit out of character from where he has grown so far in his show, but Mike has always been the same old grump. She just loves him. We just watched the 3.08 where Hank is in the hospital and the only part she enjoyed was when Mike was on screen for literally a second to dispose of his needle. I don't know how she will fare through season 5.

Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad question

Background: I think Breaking Bad is the greatest show of all time. I avoided Better Call Saul until this year because I thought it would be a comedy version of Breaking Bad, and I didn’t want to tarnish the legacy. Now disappointed I waited so long, also really good (not quite Breaking Bad good, but close).

The Question: As the series comes to an end next year, what would you now recommend someone to watch first... Breaking Bad or Better Call Saul?

Bury who next to Jasper's leg ?

This post is not a spoiler, I'm just curious and I would like to see some of your predictions

Guys, I know we are still in the 4th ep of the season, but the plot is so good that I am very anxious to know everything that is happening.

Season 6 has the title Bury Her Next To Jasper's Leg, but who will be buried?

I feel that this episode is where we will have the first death of the season, I bet my chips on Luciana. I think that because unfortunately they shit on her script and now it's no longer useful.

But I also think it may be June's death, because they are saying that the final part of John's episode (06x4) is shocking, did John discover the death of his beloved?

I don't want June to die, I think she and John still have a lot to deliver on the show, I hope the new writers can make a better storyline for them.

What do you think will happen?

I'm curious to see what your mind can think of

I'm sorry, in the previous post I forgot the text hahaha

Negan: we got weapons in there. Allot of badass machine guns and shotguns, a couple of 9mm pistols, a few Bowie knives and a baseball bat with some barbed wire attached to it....that’s what I’m gonna use to crack open your skull and splatter your brains with

later that night

They've really been knocking it out of the park so far this season

. Al has never been a character I've cared about at the best of times. And have been annoyed with at the worst. But damn if I didnt find myself enjoying her scenes and even rooting for her at the end. Although her finding a big ol box of mcguffin in the end to help everybody was a bit of a eye roll. Still theyve managed to fix her. Here's hoping the rest of the cast gets this treatment.

From the scenes from next week it looks like were going to get a kick ass john centered episode too. Glad I can really look forward to this show again

Thinking back on the show.

Is there a single person in the whole series that comes out ahead?

I think Everyone that Walt ever came into contact with has a net loss. Walts family: this ones obvious. Horrible outcome. Jessie: poor bastard Jane: dead Janes Dad: see above. Hank/Gomey: dead/dead Marie: see above. Mike plus his guys: dead Gus: Dead Kid on a bike: dead Pollos Hermanos: out of business all employees fucked. Andrea: dead Whole white supremacy group: dead Elliot and what’s her name: reputation tarnished and think they’re living under constant sniper threat. Lydia: Dead

Maybe Walt Junior is the Only one that comes out ahead. For a kid with no dad and CF he does get some cash when he turns 18.

Anyone think of anyone else that is helped in life at all by Walt?

[No Spoilers] Reading the Books immediately after watching the series (for the second time)

Reading the series immediately after watching GOT (for the second time)

I was apprehensive about reading the series. I used to love books as a kid; you had to pry me away from a book at night to get me to sleep. Eventually that shifted to portable gaming. Its been a long time since I’ve really read anything, but my sister left the entire collection back at home. I watched all of GOT for the first time last summer and fell in love cus i love stories of medieval times, fantasy, and intense drama. It also helped occupy me after a tough breakup. Finally its a damn good show. I had full intentions of hopping into the books to relive a more fleshed out experience, but just ended up rewatching the series. Now I’m done i still have an urge but to dedicate that much time after JUST watching it kinda scares me. Id definitely hop in immediately if the next book was set to release but I have no idea when that will come. I’m wondering just how much more in depth the books are.

S0305 - not quite the enthralling climax I thought it’d be

Just watched S0305 - Chicanery, and it was...flat? Ok, maybe not quite, stay with me.

The episode builds momentum at the end of S0304 where Jimmy and Kim plot to (paraphrased) shove Chuck’s PPD in his face. Enter 0305 with this mountain of promise.

Episode begins and we see a contrite Jimmy. Clearly, it’s all part of a bigger plot that will unravel. The ride is somewhat enjoyable - very much so, as the entire season has been super slow.

Skipping ahead to the hearing - witness testimonies. Howard’s cross-examination was...unexciting and lacking in depth? I thought they were still building up to an massive climax. Next is Chuck. First, Kim would have done a better job but Jimmy does alright. This brings me my disappointment...

...There is no structure to the questions? It was a lot of good stabs - but in the dark. The episode had done a great job building momentum, but the cross-examination? It just made a mockery of what had been done. Jimmy and Kim had enough material, enough experiences, enough leverage to completely eviscerate him but they just...didn’t use them.

Playing the mental illness card? Where’s the doctor that recommended to have Chuck committed TWICE?! Where is the fact that Jimmy did not have him committed because you wanted him to feel better, to be happy, even against medical advice? Where are the facts of his episode with the police? Could have laid a nice, long, decent trail as to how Jimmy would do literally ANYTHING, including lie to Rebecca, to keep Chuck happy. Where are the details of what Chuck really thinks of American University Samoa (Or University of America, Samoa)? At what point do you take the charge to expose him as an elitist, sabotaging scumbag? The entire strategy was based on the hope that Chuck would give himself away. It worked out but it was not a solid strategy; it was a passive one, based on the opposing counsel being actively...hateful. But what if he didn’t turn out to be that way? What if he kept his cool? You’re going up against your own sworn enemy and you’re basing your entire strategy on hope?! Your enemy has more knowledge and experience than you both and you go in with the hope that he’d give himself away?! Even mad persons can have moments of lucidity; Chuck could easily have maintained his cool and all they would have achieved was to establish that his mental health (which, btw, was not in contention) was questionable. Even better, having the doctor as a witness would have strongly corroborated this - she recommended commitment twice, people! So much material that could have been used to nail Chuck’s professional coffin permanently shut but here we are, grappling with a tepid - at best - denouement. Best part? These materials are simply creative and do not exactly require knowledge of the codes of law - Jimmy’s exact forte. Just a bit of unconventional thinking - something he’s so good at - with some conventional thinking - something she’s so good at - would have had them come out on top with a worthy climax.

Harvey Spencer and Mike Ross would do excellent! Hell, Louis Litt (who, btw, is fantastic) would do better. Experience was not required, creativity was. And all those shots that were not taken will forever haunt me.

Rant over, thanks for checking in.

"Season 6 will change how you see Breaking Bad"

So, having just about completed my first rewatch of Breaking Bad (first was 7 years ago), after watching BCS for the first time a few months ago, I've noticed that Saul is strangely loyal to Walt specifically from the get-go. I feel like there is a Big Unnoticed Thing going on in Breaking Bad that will be revealed in season 6 of Better Call Saul.

Saul betrays just about every other one of his clients for Walt, starting with Badger, and it's not self-preservation because on multiple occasions Walt is the lesser threat. Why? What does Saul know that we don't?

How did Morgan and Dwight cross the Mississippi?

If anyone saw the trailer for next week's TWB, it was stated that the government blew up all the bridges across the Mississippi river.

So how do you think Dwight and Morgan crossed? Based on the trailer, crossing seems like a pretty big operation for one person alone.

I'm in the middle of season 3. I'm not sure why everybody hates Chuck when Jimmy does the same things Chuck does? (No spoilers, please.)

I've just finished watching "Chicanery," season 3, episode 5. Please don't give spoilers or hints of spoilers, like "Just you wait." I'm not sure why (at this point in the series) the sub hated Chuck when Jimmy did the pretty much the same things Chuck did.

Chuck is obviously a really bad brother, trying to plot Jimmy's demise, most noticeably (at this point) baiting Jimmy to break and enter into his home so Jimmy would eventually lose his ability to practice law. People in this sub's post-episode discussion threads have also said Chuck is psychotic for premeditating at the level of detail he did, but Jimmy took an equal amount of time and effort to plot and ruin Chuck, too. Off the of my head, Jimmy's:

* Stolen the Mesa Verde documents while Chuck was almost unconscious, went to a print shop in the middle of the night to spend hours manipulating the papers, then broke into Chuck's house later on to switch back the documents. It was a move that permanently damaged Chuck and HHM's reputation and also worsened Chuck's mental health by making Chuck think he was going crazy. (Chuck has a mental illness, but his skills as a lawyer were never in question.)

* Paid off the copy center employee and indirectly caused Chuck to bang his head on the counter. Then, Chuck had to go through the hospital tests, causing him more trauma and stress.

* Paid Huell to plant the cell phone battery on Chuck, destroying Chuck's credibility further and manipulating his mental illness again.

* Revealed Chuck's secret and mental illness to Rebecca, Chuck's ex-wife. I know Chuck lied to her about his condition, but Chuck had still asked Jimmy to keep his secret, and, I assume, wanted to let Rebecca know on his own terms.

* Coordinated Rebecca to fly 4,000 miles to manipulate Chuck into going crazy at court and also make her present to witness it.

I think what Jimmy did was equally as psychotic and premeditated as what Chuck did, but I don't understand why Chuck gets hate for his actions while what Jimmy did gets a pass or is kind of brushed off, with the justification being, "Well, Chuck did so-and-so to Jimmy." I also hear the argument Jimmy is the better sibling because he cares about Chuck, but I think at some level, Chuck still cares about Jimmy as a brother, otherwise, he wouldn't have bailed out Jimmy all those times when he was still Slippin' Jimmy. I also understand Chuck looks down on Jimmy, but that's also not a good justification for Jimmy ruining Chuck with the actions I listed above. Is just it a Walter White situation, where viewers sympathize with Jimmy, a character who's done many bad things, because he's the protagonist of the series?

What if chuck met walter white?

What if chuck looked into the future and saw the kind of person jimmy would serve? Would he change his methods to steer jimmy from going down that path? Or would he double down and get jimmy arrested?

Season 4 - Changes everything?

Spoilers all over.....

So the quarantine gave me a chance to give this show another shot - I always tapped out in season 2. But Season 3 was phenomenal. Why did they basically start from scratch in season 4? They killed off two main characters like it was nothing.

Can anyone fill me in on why? Were there contract issues or something? I haven’t seen either actor in other projects and it’s just a real confusing step for a show to take - that in my opinion really found its tone in season 3.

Which Rick do you think of when you think of Rick (Comic Series)?

Going through another read of the comic series, and I’ve just started A New Beginning. Seeing Rick now with the shaved head and long beard at this point made me realize how damn long he kept that look (10 Volumes!), definitely the longest he’s ever had a consistent look. So I was wondering, when you think of Rick from the comics, do you imagine the shaved head & beard Rick? All Out War? Alexandria? Or any of the other variations of hair and beard length he’s been through?

Will/can the walkers die out?

In the beginning, the walkers had fresh strength to walk around. However it became apparent to me in S9 (after the time jump) that the walkers don’t seem as....threatening. In s9 about a decade has passed. It is my belief that after much wear and tear...decaying out in the elements...the walkers would just sorta die out. Is that possible? Is that what’s happening in s9?

Everything is slowly coming together finally story wise? What do you think?

So I went back and re-watched some season 7/8. I noticed Anne/Jadis was marking the containers to send to the CRM. Rick was going to be sent as an A. Then she tied Gabe up and was talking about "this is her only price of admission" She was going to have the walker bite him in his side. Now in World Beyond the first scene is some helicopters with shipping containers flying towards the Campus Colony. With the reveal in episode 4 that they are trying to find a cure and the walkers they're testing on are all bit on the same side(same place Jadis was going to have a walker bite Gabe). Also Isabelle in fear.. The CRM does not let new people in or people to leave... So poor Rick has been stuck over there for years now and has not been able to leave. The show is building to something finally and I'm excited again for this show. What are your thoughts! Find any clues about it all also? A group trying to find a cure and actually look like a scary force.

If ricin is odorless and tasteless, how could Tuco smell it in the meth when they tried to get him to snort it in S2 E2?

He smells the meth and recoils and says it smells like head cheese. Which we, as the viewers, know is because of the ricin. Jesse says it's because of a new special ingredient and ultimately says it's chili powder, even though it's ricin, but Tuco doesn't like chili powder so he passes on it. But multiple times in the show it's stated that ricin is completely odorless and tasteless. So how could it make the meth have a different smell?

Correct me if I’m wrong

Just shower thought while rewatching the series. Do they ever establish that everyone is infected, or that if you die by non-head wound you come back as a walker, like they do in TWD?

I’m a viewer of both shows but I feel it would confuse viewers why dead people are coming back to life in Fear if they don’t watch both shows.

I could have missed something though...

Daryl storylines and Negan and Lydia

I find it cool how the show managed to give him Dwight, Rick (kinda) and Maggies storylines for the whisperer arc.

Also i really like the Negan and Lydia relationship since they're both former villains who are now outcasts and have a personnel relationship with Carl in the comics. Negan better not get Dwight or Ricks comic death tho.

Rick Grimes in the movies

How do you think Rick's personality will be in the movies?

We've seen him change a lot since the beginning of the series, where he had several inflection points, like when he kills Shane, or when Hershel dies and the prison falls, the brutal death of Glenn and Carl.

But how can these conversations he had during hallucinations affect his personality?

What did Hershel say, Shane and Sasha, their hallucinations and their meanings, the bodies he saw and the famous "I found them", how do you think it will influence Rick's personality?

The typing sound in the courtroom in S05E07...

...reminds me of Chuck's typewriter.

You could just read it as the court reporter typing away, but they clearly emphasized the sound over everything else in that moment, even the judge's voice. Jimmy has just looked over at Fred Whalen family, crying silently, knowing full well Lalo cares so little, he literally forgot the name and existence of the man he murdered.

I think it's at this exact moment Jimmy realizes where his Saul Goodman experiment is going. Unlike all the pranks with Howard, or trying to 'grease the wheels of justice' by hussling Suzanne, there is no way to justify helping release Lalo from prison. He is helping a high ranking cartel member escape charges for first-degree murder, of a man who did literally nothing to anyone. And yet, Jimmy has no real choice; if he doesn't do this, Lalo will have him killed, too.

It's the final stage of Slippin' Jimmy: a born survivor. A cockroach, as per Lalo's later description. Stripped of everything else, he will do anything to stay afloat. And that's why we hear the typewriter. Jimmy is accepting what he hated for years: the idea that Chuck was right. To distrust him, to sabotage him, and to hate him.

And suddenly, they cut to him standing up. He's even a ways into his testimony already. What happened? Saul.

Saul is what lies beyond Slippin' Jimmy. It's the identity he escapes to when there's absolutely no way to justify his actions. An invented personality. To avoid the pain of his past, Jimmy puts on the mask, and scams like his life depends on it. Which, here, it does. Except, because of the guilt and hesitation in his voice and presentation, his magic doesn't work to its fullest. The judge grants bond, but doesn't buy the story of Lalo's Albuquerque family.

So, the only way to success from here is deciding what the title of the episode, JMM, means. Justice Matters Most, perhaps, but to Just Make Money is what allows the Saul magic to shine brightest.

That's also what seals his fate when Howard shows up. Jimmy had a chance to walk over to the family, own up for what he did. He waited too long, and had to watch them leave, their opportunity for justice denied forever. As Jimmy, he's a coward who doesn't have what it takes to do what he knows is right. But as Saul, he is a magic man who can solve any problem. A clear choice.

It's a Foustian bargain. A man gains the world, but loses his soul. Saul the omnipotent, with his empty smile.

Why do people not like s7 and s8?

I found s7 and s8 very good but I've heard it as a general opinion that the majority of people disliked or some couldn't even bear watching these seasons. What made them unwatchable or dislikable? I'm quite confused since I really like those 2 seasons

Would anyone be interested in a TWD style hunger games?

I don't mean a literal one but like a simulated one where you guys could pick a twd character you like each and I simulate it on my computer. I could give updates each day to who died and who killed them so it would be like a cool competition. If I could I would give the winner a cash prize but I'm broke AF lol. I geuss some reddit awards would have to do.

I think there is about 48 characters to choose from so if I could get enough numbers that would be great. If people are interested they would have to DM me and I would do it as 'first come first served' so the people who reply first will get first pick on what character they want, and I'm sorry if your character was already picked before you. I hope you guys play and enjoy:)

[SPOILERS] What Do You Think? A Poll On Incest In GOT

As we all know incest is frowned upon in society and you would probably go to jail for falling in love and marrying your sibling...

The Targaryens on the other hand owned it and used it to keep their blood lines pure and of old Valyria. Couples like Aegon, Rhaenys, Visenya and Jaehaereys & Alyssane etc are amazing.

What do you guys think from the options below.

Do you think Jimmy has ADHD?

I hope this post doesn't come to offense of anybody, but watching Better Call Saul, I feel like it's a very real possibility that Jimmy has ADHD, and I compiled some reasons why I think so down below. If anything in this post is incorrect or offensive, please let me know and I'll try to fix it : ). Alright here's my evidence: Rejection sensitivity dysphoria in his relationships to Chuck and Kim. (Not exclusively adhd but applicable) Plenty of impulsive actions (ripping out the cupholder, switching the light switch, making his d&m commercials, hummel figure stealing, etc.) A lot of fidgeting and recklessness (sleepless nights in company apartment). Frequent mood swings and emotional regulation, hard time controlling anger (bar committee rejection, Chuck describes his cycle as a "sudden showing of emotion") Very anti-establishment and anti-sceduele (davis and main job, hate for hhm, general hate for establishment.) Fast talker, and a fast thinker, and he has a distorted view of himself and is always trying to pretend to be somebody he's not. Did poorly in school but managed to hyperfocus and pass the bar exam on his own terms. Some executive dysfunction (not a lot, mostly seen in himself dealing with the choice to go to therapy). Always takes the shortest, and possibly hardest route, will always take shortcuts and try to leave behind problems in as little time possible.

There's a lot, but I think Jimmy's time at Davis & Main really showed at least some type of neurodivergence, especially the time we saw when he was alone in the company apartment.

Also I haven't seen season 5 yet, there may be more things to mention there but I wouldn't know, you can comment on it but try to keep major spoilers away if possible.

So all that being said, do you think that Jimmy may have ADHD?

Anyone hoping Virgina pulls a Negan/Alpha lineup?

There's a lot of main characters and no one major has died since s4A. With how brutal this season has been I wouldn't be suprised if we got a lineup/pike elimination scene.

Also what time does Fear drop on amc premiere?

Jimmy would have never became Saul if it weren't for Chuck

I get that not every problem jimmy has is because of Chuck, but his biggest problem is. That is approval. All Jimmy wanted was his Brother's approval. That's why he suddenly stopped his conning in Cicero and went with Chuck to Albuquerque, why he wanted to work with Chuck, why he cared for Chuck non stop during his condition. His conning in New Mexico was to get ahead so he could finally get his approval from Chuck. But once he realizes that Chuck will never approve of him, he gives up and becomes Saul, before Jimmy's morals were bound by Chucks approval now they are bound by nothing.

Doing boxcutter order. Never seen either show

So boxcutter order is alternating bb seasons with bcs seasons. S1 bb then season 1 bcs. And so on. I just started season 3 off bb. Biggest shock so far as far continuity crossovers was seing Mike show up as Sauls cleaner. Like he hates Jimmy so much. Have to reccomend.

Hey everybody... Middle age guy starting to watch this show for the first time. Heard a lot about it over the years, now I'm taking the time to see it myself.

I'm an almost 40 guy, married with kids, but currently living alone and working. Always been more of a movie person, never could follow a TV series too long because of lack of time to devote, and impatience. Now having more time to myself, I recently completed another series in full, and selected this as the next one to take on. Thought I'd shake hands with a familiar community and see what you all had to say for input. I am only at S1E4. So no spoilers, please, I know Walt dies in the end. Clues and other input would be awesome, especially little details - the things you notice the second or fifth time in. I doubt I'll ever watch this series in entirety through again, so I figure "best to know what to look for beforehand" So far, I'm hooked and already staying up too late to finish episodes. Anyway, hello!

(THEORY) Walt Wanted to Kill Tuco, Not Make A Deal

Theory:

When Walt had his first meeting with Tuco, where he uses the fulminated mercury explosive disguised as meth, Walt actually intended on killing Tuco, or at least had that as his "plan A." Making a deal with Tuco was Walt's "plan B."

Evidence:

PART I - Walt Is Incredibly Thorough

Throughout the surrounding episodes, Walt is clearly established as a HIGHLY thorough plan maker, especially when dealing with Tuco; For example, when Walt is talking with Jesse about how they plan to kill Tuco, Walt goes into the most minute details such as how many shots for Tuco, how many shots for each of Tuco's henchmen (even factoring in the size of one of them), how many bullets the gun has, how many henchmen will be there, when will they take the shot, etc. When planning to kill Tuco, Walt doesn't leave any detail unconsidered.

Furthermore, when Jesse brings the RV to Walt's house, Walt scrutinizes Jesse with questions like "what if Skylar saw you," and proceeds to criticize Jesse for not fully thinking through each of his decisions.

PART II - Walt Definitely Knew What His Meeting With Tuco Would Be Like

Before meeting Tuco, Walt asks Skinny Pete to "tell [him] everything you know about this Tuco." What Skinny says if off-camera, but I think we can infer that Skinny Pete probably went into each detail of Skinny's and Jesse's interaction with Tuco, covering details like "They patted us down," "he used a big knife to test our meth," "there were two other guys," etc.

I am inferring this from the way Walt questioned Jesse (Part I) and also by other details like Walt didn't bring his wallet with him to the meeting, knowing that they would pat him down and find his wallet and know his real identity.

THE THEORY:

All of this culminates into why I believe Walt initially tried to kill Tuco. I believe that Walt thought Tuco would test his fake meth, either blowing himself up or blowing his knife into his body. At that point, I think Walt probably planned to proceed as he did in the show (grabbing the rest of the fake meth and threatening whoever else was there).

What occurred in the show (Tuco choosing not to test the fake meth, which was the only time we see Tuco not test Walt's product when he gives him a new batch) was unexpected, and thus Walt had to resort to a "plan B," and only threaten Tuco.

If you've read this far, I'm very curious as to your thoughts!

COUNTERARGUMENT:

When Walt initially arrives at Tuco's place, he asks the doorman, "Are you Tuco?" This sort of implies Walt has no idea how the meeting really went down, what Tuco looks like, and other details (kind of invalidating all of Part II). Nevertheless, a fun theory to entertain.
