Why do some people turn into walkers and others just die?
I’m late to The Walking Dead game and have just started Season 2. Maybe it will become clearer in future episodes, but can anyone explain why some people turn into walkers and others who seem to have been infected by the same disease just die and don’t become a walker?

Imdb Ratings Past Season 6
So I’ve been noticing a lot (and i think someone even posted about this a few days ago) that the IMDB ratings for episodes past season 6 are WAY lower than they deserve to be because there are a lot of trolls who give it one star without watching. So I’m suggesting that we all make IMDB accounts (free) and give the episodes what they deserve.

[SPOILERS] Why wasn’t Karstark mentioned at Jaime’s trial at Winterfell?
I thought Jaime killing Torrhen Karstark to escape his captivity would have been brought up especially since Alys Karstark is right there. It seems like that would’ve caused extra tension with the northern lords.

[SPOILERS] Why is Lord Tyrell such a bum
I don’t even know his first name, I remember it being mentioned once or twice but can’t recall. I’m rewatching it right now, on season 6. He is always pictured as joking and happy and seems like a good guy, but never does anything. Obviously lady Olenna is the power of the tyrell house but why is he so lame. He is used as Cersei’s pawn for a time and just doesn’t do anything, and doesn’t seem upset with the imprisonments of margery and loras. Does he do anything in the books ?

Popular shows that have been completely forgotten
Mad About You and Murphy Brown
Both of them were extremely popular in the late 80's and/or early-late 90's. But they haven't really had the same pop culture impact that such sitcoms around the same time as Friends, Seinfeld, Fresh Prince, Full House, etc. have gotten.
If they're remembered at all, it's basically for just how popular they were when they first came out.
I mean it says something that their reboots were completely met with a shrug and came and went quickly.

What do you think would be great places to be post apocalyptic settlements?
Ever since I saw the prison on TWD I would always be thinking "Where would I go in the apocalypse?" and then after seeing the baseball stadium as a community in FTWD season 4 I really started to think about where else would be great settlements. Here are some I think would be amazing:
An offshore Oil Rig
Its far from land, you have an unlimited supply for fish, an infinite supply of Oil that you can turn into gasoline for motor boats or cars when you go to the mainland, you can get dirt from land and build small boxes to grow crops, and you have many rooms from where the workers used to sleep.
The top of a sky scrapper (or just a tall building)
First off, no groups would think to look for you in the city, because its vastly over run with the dead. But the thing is, walkers cant climb. After a few runs you could get enough soil, seeds, fertilizers, and materials to start farming up there. You could build tankers to collect rain water, and if your lucky the building may have a water filtration system. After a while you could be thriving up in your home above the sky, and with that kind of view you would be able to see for miles, no need for a watch tower when you living on one. Which brings me to my next option-
A watch tower/radio tower
Have you ever come across watch towers or radio towers on top of hills in a clearing in the woods? I feel like these would be nice places to live, probably not for as long as the other ones but for like a year at most maybe? If its isolated enough then I think you could grow crops and have little trailers on the ground, build walls around the area. And you always have a view of the woods around you.
What places would yall like to live in during an apocalypse?

[Spoilers] How it should have ended
I have thought a lot about why season 8 gets so much hate and how it could have been better. I don’t want to start any arguments or say anything controversial, but I do believe a big part of the reason we don’t like season 8 is that we grew to love these characters and to end the series many of them had to die. I think people were sad about that as much as anything else, and, in fairness, that’s not the showrunners fault.
I have come to think that smart, good endings are generally a little ambiguous. Dumb, poorly written endings try to neatly tie up all the loose ends. I do think that this was tough because after eight seasons and however many years, people wanted to know what happened to everyone in the show.
So, in the final scenes, when everyone sits down at the small council meeting, I don’t think I am alone in saying that I felt like Westeros was not in the greatest shape. The most hilarious example is Bronn being the Master of Coin when he had admitted not understanding how a loan works in a prior episode. Candidly, I never really like Danaerys but I felt her end was a bit of a waste given the time we had all invested watching her ascension. Finally, Jon Snow was raised as a young semi Lord in Westeros and we are meant to believe he was happiest living out the rest of his days among a bunch of barbarians on a frozen tundra? That doesn’t really compute.
Here is what I think they should have done, given my prior statement about ambiguity. And I know this is going to infuriate some people, but hear me out. Also, I think the specifics of my thesis are flexible and someone smarter can likely adjust them while maintaining the overall structure of my ending.
Danaerys should have sacked King’s Landing. But, doing it because of Missandei being killed was stupid. She was an ok character but the whole story shouldn’t have hinged on her death. Dany should have made an attempt on Cersei’s life (during negotiations or something) that should have failed and someone MAJOR should have died instead (by mistake). The only two major people who really could have died and my idea to work would be Tyrion or Sansa. I think Sansa. I like her, but leaving her as queen of the north was stupid, there was nothing to indicate she was strong enough to do this or would be a good leader, aside from being a true born Stark. In an effort to hide the truth, Dany blames the assassination attempt on Cersei. Enraged by this, Jon and Dany should have attacked King’s Landing. After the city is sacked, there should have been a split between Dany and Jon, where he learns the truth and they part ways BARELY avoiding war between Dany’s army and the north. And here is where the ambiguity and the smart ending comes in. With this frail peace between the north and the south, Arya, the assassin, should tell Jon she is going to kill Dany to avenge Sansa, but Jon should implore her not too. The show ends, with the ambiguity of not knowing if Arya will listen to preserve peace in Westeros, or if she will avenge her sister and start the cycle of violence all over again...

4x05 proves that this show's early days would've been a shell of what they are without Scott Wilson; an ode to him
RIP to that talented man.
Throughout all of Hershel's arc, every scene between Hershel and Rick always had me sitting up in my seat, regardless of the content. Imo, no two actors had better chemistry than Scott and Andy. And you could say that most of Hershel's big moments come by way of interactions with Rick.
But then 4x05 hits.
Scott Wilson is frankly on his own stage, commanding it. And I'm left in awe after just now reaching that episode in my series rewatch.
First of all, as a whole, the episode is brilliantly written and directed. "Interment" finds the flu epidemic in the prison reach it's breaking point, while Rick and Carl deal with the prison walls caving in. The action is dealt in rapid succession and the stakes keep getting higher with every passing minute.
The Rick/Carl stuff is phenomenal, but Hershel fighting to save as many as he can inside cell block A - and dealing with the dead turning - is clearly the main attraction.
Definitely the emotional depth is amplified because it's our beloved Glenn on the verge of death, but nonetheless, Hershel is the center, and the heart, of the episode.
Scott Wilson features even more prominently than Andy Lincoln, and this is may be the only episode where I think Andy is outshined, despite how good he still is.
I'm sitting here and I just had to applaud Scott Wilson's brilliance. And I had to come here to a place where people recognize it as well and can praise him with me! Simply a captivating and gripping performance. He was unknown to me outside this series and I'm so grateful that I got to witness his craft.
For me, this is a top 10 episode in the series.

[SPOILERS] Fight against Night King should’ve been the end
As I’m rewatching the final season I can’t go around talking about this. The fight against Cersei and her army should’ve come first. Putting the fight against the Night King and the army of the dead mid season lowered the tension IMO. You knew you they were going to win somehow. You knew the last 3 episodes weren’t going to be Cersei fighting/losing against the Night King.
That moment where Sansa and Tyrion are in the crypt when the Night King‘s theme starts playing as the living get slaughtered: just imagine that as the final episode. Knowing game of thrones you’d think they actually loose and the show ends with the Night King winning after all. It would’ve been so suspenseful everyone would’ve clawed at their seat.
We all know season 8 is a giant disaster but out of all the bad decisions made about this season this I understand the least.

Here’s Not Here 6x4
I don’t know about anyone else, but this episode is my favourite episode of the entire show. As soon as you meet Eastman you instantly care for his character, and everything that was done with this episode is perfect. Morgan’s theme just screams “Peace” whenever it plays and you get to see Morgan character develop from being at the complete bottom to the point where he literally kills anyone he sees, and when the episode ends his character is full of peace.
I also think that Eastman’s death was so powerful. And I think this helps Morgan find peace even more, Morgan learns that Eastman lived up to “All life is precious” by saving Morgan. I think that the way they structured Eastmans death was perfect, Morgan just freezes while he sees his past mistakes walk up to him, ready to kill him but then Eastman steps in to save Morgan from loosing all of this peace that he has gained.
In my opinion, Eastman is one of, if not the best minor characters in the show.

How long from issue 1 to issue 193?
Just to expand on the question:
I'm replaying the Telltale series, and Kate states that they're 4 years into the apocalypse. This matches up timeline wise with Clem being 8-9 in season 1, and 13 in season 3. At the time of release, this season was supposed to happen at the same time as the current comic issues. This was 3 years before the comics ended in 2019. Clem is 17-18 in season 4, so that's a 4-5 year time gap. Is that after the comics? And if so, how long after?

I just finished the show and thought I’d do a ranking of the season. (No hate plz)
-
Season 6 - My favourite season, every episode is amazing and it hyped up the saviors so much.
-
Season 5 - Amazing season. For me there wasn’t a single episode that stood out to me but just the entire thing was great.
-
Season 9 - Up until Rick left was good but that episode when he left was too good (my favourite episode). And the whisperers were so mysterious until they introduced alpha in my opinion.
-
Season 4 - The mid season finale made this season. And how everyone got a stand alone episode in 4B. Very epic.
-
Season 3 - This season is the most average thing there can be. The prison was great but I wasn’t a fan of Woodbury until later episodes.
-
Season 2 - It is a great season but not much stuff actually happened. Half the season was Daryl shouting Sofia and the other was whether they should kill this random person but the final episode was great.
-
Season 8 - I don’t know about this season, the only good thing is the mid season finale and the last episode. All the other episodes is just fighting which isn’t necessarily bad it was just kinda boring.
-
Season 10 - The finale made this season and his unexpected alphas death was but 10C is coming so you never know.
-
Season 7 - The first half of the season is Rick being Negans bitch and the other half is just annoying the only reason this isn’t last is the first episode.
-
Season 1 - This season isn’t necessarily bad it’s just that there weren’t many episodes and it’s the beginning so we weren’t attached to any characters yet. Also one season has got to be last l.

Thoughts on season 8?
So I decided to start rewatching from when the group gets to Alexandria through seasons 10, I’m a couple episodes into season 9 now . I actually really liked season 8. My first watch of season 8 I thought it was a very meh. The dialogue def had some issues but I felt the pacing was pretty good and the overall themes were well done, I’m curious To see if others liked it upon rewatch

First time watching, confused.. help!
I’m at season 4 episode 1, the whole bit where Rick finds a woman in the forest who brings him back to her small campsite with her dead husband (?) Eddie. What’s the takeaway from that? I’m a little bit confused.

Carol and Daryl?
I am currently rewatching and I have seen a lot of people mentioning that they want to see Carol and Daryl together. I personally don’t see it at all and think they are more like older sister and younger brother. I get that Norman Reedus (daryl) and Melissa McBride (Carol) are similar age I just think that they seem so different in age at the start by the way they act and look. What’s your opinion?

Regarding using Walkers as camouflage
So I've recently began binging through all seasons. I'm nearing the end of season 3. I originally stopped watching after Negan arrived as the shows slow pace was becoming annoying and since the show is ending with season 11, I felt now was a good time.
No spoilers after season 8 please.
However during my rewatch something has kind of bothered me. Now in Season 3, Michonne and Andrea use walkers as camouflage. Remove the teeth and arms so they can't bite or scratch. What I don't understand is... how?
I get that the "musk" of a walker is a good repellent, but when one walker attacks someone, why do many others continue to flock? Wouldn't that one walker attacking someone be the "repellent" in theory?
I'm sure you could argue it down to "don't think too hard about it" but when we're all in quarantine binging stuff, these are the things we DO think too hard about.

I stopped watching during season 8. I hear it gets better but..
I skipped to season 9 episode 1 after hearing the show gets good again. My main gripe with the show is how low budget it started to look? Obviously season 1 looked the best, but even season 2-5 had this polish to them that the show lacks now. Does season 9 onwards stop looking like a bad SyFy show and go back to how it use to look? I cant handle the cheapass looking sets and costumes etc.

In s4ep1, could zack have survived?
I don’t know how strong walkers are or anything, but a walker grabbed his leg, took a bite out of it, then he proceeded to collapse and gave his have bitten off. The walker grabbed his leg before biting him, I feel he had enough time to react. Also he got bit in the calf area, he could’ve just walked away no? I feel like the smart thing to do would be to stomp on the walker with your other foot but he just collapsed somehow then let himself die. Again no clue if the walkers have like superstrength or something that paralyzes you, and I also understand some people freeze in certain situations

[Spoilers] Did you like The Long Night ?
The biggest battle in GOT and arguably in television/movie history is the Battle of Winterfell over an hour long fight against the dead which was years in the making, their were a few complaints such as lighting, Jon didn’t fight the Nigh King, Arya killed the Night King, etc. But there were also some amazing moments like the Dothraki charge, Jon fighting through Winterfell, Theons sacrifice, the final 10 minutes is an emotional rollercoaster and extremely intense, and the score was phenomenal, with all these pros and cons were you satisfied by the Long Night? (And no there’s no option for “I liked it until the last 5 minutes”).

[SPOILERS] Cersei wasnt really that smart
i was going to make a post about how cersei wasnt actualy that smart or cunning or manipluative, but then it occured to me, did anyone ever say she was, i think i just assumed she was supposed to be clever.
she becomes queen through her farther sponsering rob who by dum luck ends up becoming the new king (if aerys hadnt become the mad king it would never have happened) and she makes joffrey king by just ripping up a letter rob had written.
then when tywin dies she would basically have been completely screwed if Qyburn hadnt rescued zombified gregor and provided her with a weapon to take on the dragons.
then she tries to eliminate margaery with the religious militia which completely backfires and her big plan is just to blow it up which in turn kills her only remaining child.

[SPOILERS] The animosity about a certain kill by a certain character
>! After finishing the whole series in the last week or so, I've read through a couple of season 8 threads. Many complain about Arya being the one that kills the Night's King. As far as I read the complains is because it is deemed "lazy writing", "the wrong character (it should have been Jon)", "Arya was not capable, suddenly becoming a super hero" - and so forth.
I don't really understand the critique - it seems to me that Arya killing the Night's King was a perfect match. We followed her for a couple of seasons on her own transforming from a child to a trained hashshashin (that outplays her master) with vengeance and justice absorbing most of her mind. She excels in stealth movements, killing all of the Greyjoys without any of them noticing a breach in the castles security and agility, seen several times, especially when escaping The Waif through the streets of Braavos, and fighting zombies on the walls of Winterfell.
And storywise the chess pieces of her fate is allready being moved in position in season 3 for the crecento in season 8
Furthermore, the bulk of the series showed us that many characters didn't necessarily get what they deserved by those who deserved to disperse them. It's mainly a brutal, unjust world, with a fair share of coincidence and opportunities popping up any odd moment.
Maybe I misread the amount of animosity, in that case just ignore it.!<

“Scenes too violent for the show”
I remember, a while ago now, that there used to be a list on the Walking Dead wiki of scenes from the comics that were seen as “too graphic” for the show, since the comics were pretty much unrated and the AMC series was restricted to cable rules. Now, with the show about to begin ending its second to last season, practically all of those scenes have been adapted to the screen.
Glenn’s death, Tyreese (Hershel) being decapitated, Mark getting his face ironed, Billy (Lizzie) killing Ben (Mika), Carl’s eye getting shot out, the heads on pikes, etc. The only ones that haven’t been adapted are the ones that were really too much, like the Governor raping Michonne or the Greene sisters having their heads cut off.
I just find it amazing how, in such little time, a series people always said was way too tame compared to the source material has managed to include almost every single scene that was originally viewed as “impossible for television”. Really shows how far they’ve come.

One of my biggest pet peeves is googling a character from a TV show and having " (tv show) +(character) death scene" show up when I don't know they died yet.
With all TV shows and movies I've tried so far, there hasn't been one case where this doesn't hold true.
This also works conversely too - If I google a character and autocomplete doesn't give me "death", I can pretty safely assume that they're still alive in the most recent episode.
For movies this isn't as big an issue; they aren't a big time commitment so I can just watch the whole thing first. However for TV series, especially multi season TV shows, I don't think I can watch the entire thing before browsing discussion threads and forums.
My current strategy is to search up "(tv show) + (season and episode) + reddit" to find the discussion thread so I can see what people are talking about, which is a fair compromise, but sometimes that just doesn't scratch the itch. Also, this one subreddit in particular has weekly character quotes in its sidebar, and it just so happens that right now it's a quote from the last season by one of the main characters introduced in the pilot episode. It takes the suspense away whenever this character is put into a life-threatening situation since I know that they live until the end. I assume unintentional spoilers still linger in other subreddits so I'm not holding anything against them.
Anyways, does anyone have other strategies for spoiler free ways of finding and reading discussion threads and forums about a television series?

The most bad ass villain
Has got to be Negan. When I first saw Negan, I was playing the Fallout games and had my ideas about how a raider boss should conduct themselves and act but my god did Negan play that role superbly. That actor was so fucking good and the writing for the character was just so bloody well done. The character and the world created by them just blew me away. I was so salty about Glen, like genuinely angry with a tv show. That's never happened to me before. And that character was just pure badass. Have any episodes ever scarred you or made you lose sleep?
I'm not at all a squeamish person, but I have two.
701: For obvious reasons. That final shot of Glenn just stuck with me for a few days, and I couldn't even look at the episode again for awhile without feeling nauseous.
915: None of the characters who ended up on the pikes were my favorites, but thinking about how much Tara, Enid, and even Henry went through only to die like this, as well as how terrified everyone must have been in their last moments when Alpha showed up, legitimately disturbed me and made me lose sleep that night.

[SPOILERS] How would you reverse the order of the 2 halves of S8?
Personally I think there would have been some benefit to dealing with Cersei first, giving her a satisfying death (possibly throw in that Jamie redemption we missed), and then the last of the season be the whitewalker war and who ends up on the iron throne at the end.
I know there is no good way to really do this once Cersei commits to staying behind and the WW’s are imminently marching on the north, just a huge lack of time.
But it feels wrong that the WW’s were built up the entire season, we got the hardhome episode, and the entirety of Kings Landing never even sees them? There needed to be some kind of consequence for those that didn’t believe it/take it seriously/help to stop it. And there just needed to be more... white walkers. They needed to destroy winterfell and get to Kings Landing. That would have been something.
So anyways, how would you make it so that the Cersei falling arc is first in season 8, and then the last of it is The Great War?

The "carousel" scene from the Mad Men season 1 finale - one of the most beautiful sequences in any show I've ever watched
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=suRDUFpsHus
I've been rewatching Mad Men recently (still as amazing as ever, and one of the 10 greatest shows ever made) and I came across one of my favourite scenes from the show. In the season 1 finale, Don pitches the idea of the Kodak slide projector as a kind of carousel/wheel.
It's such a beautiful scene. The speech Don gives about what the sliding photos represent, the nature of memory and nostalgia, and the ability to travel to that place where you belong and are loved - it's haunting, melancholy and emotional. Jon Hamm just kills it in this scene, and it encompasses the two major facets of his character. The manipulative ad man who will exploit anything to sell a product, and the broken, haunted husband and father who loves his family yet can't help self-destructing.
The accompanying music and visuals really add to it as well. Just one of the best written, directed and acted scenes in any TV show ever, imo.

[SPOILERS] A truly underrated character: Hizdahr so Loraq
I feel like Hizdahr was a great minor character in S4/5 of the show. Though he was once a member of the Slave Masters of Meereen, Hizdahr’s role, in Daenerys’ council, was actually really well done and thought provoking.
Throughout S5, Hizdahr attempts to convince Daenerys to honor the traditions of Meereen and its people, mainly through the re-opening of the fighting pits. Though some viewers might see this as surface level “Hizdahr was a slave owner, which automatically makes him evil”, Hizdahr’s advice is actually very true.
Daenerys has never lived a day of her adult life in Westeros, which makes it even less of a home than Essos, where she’s spent her entire life. Daenerys is under the pretense that when she returns, the common folk will flock to their true leader, which just isn’t the case. The common folk have very little interest in the wars of kings and queens, and wouldn’t have cared when Daenerys arrived. What Hizdahr is saying, accepting tradition, is not only about Meereen, but a warning for Westeros itself. If Daenerys ever hopes to become a good ruler, she can’t just make it her way or the highway. She has to make accommodations with people’s prior lives, if she ever hopes to keep the peace.
Daenerys’ unwillingness and impatience to accept old traditions is very telling of how naive she is, believing that people will just love her automatically. Daenerys is so unwilling, that she even threatens Hizdahr directly, during the Fighting Pits Tournament, that she might burn Meereen and its traditions to the ground if they don’t accept her own way.
(Very reminiscent of how she threatened the same thing for the city of Qarth, just because they refused to let her enter. All she needed to do was show her dragons, yet she refused to do so, even if it meant her people might die)
Now that’s not to say Meereen was a perfect city. Far from it, as it was the center of slave trade, however, this emphasizes how unprepared Daenerys was to rule Westeros, as she most likely would have enforced her own rule with fire and blood if anyone talked back. Daenerys talks about “breaking the wheel”, but everything she has done so far shows she is continuing the same wheel.
Anyway, back to Hizdahr, this guy isn’t a “good” person, due to his history in slavery, however, his advice is sound and crucial for Daenerys’ rule, yet it’s just discounted because everyone believes Hizdahr leads the Sons of the Harpy. Hizdahr even gives his life trying to save Daenerys from the Harpies, and yet she doesn’t even care.
Overall, Hizdahr was a man willing to help Daenerys, even though she had changed his entire way of life, and ultimately didn’t get any credit for his role. If Daenerys had put aside her own grievances towards him, she actually would have learned something in ruling.

[SPOILERS] Godzilla vs King Kong parallel in Game of Thrones.
I’ve seen a lot of hype about the Godzilla vs Kong movie (Zilla all the way) and I can’t help but think of how this fight would be similar to Oberyn vs the Mountain. Godzilla just seems to be the favorite here. There are some good arguments for how Kong could win but I just don’t see him getting past the size, and armor of Godzilla (similar to how people viewed Oberyn facing the Mountain).
King Kongs advantages are his speed and agility (due to lack of armor plating) and the Axe-like weapon he gets based on the trailer (similar to how Oberyns spear helped him). Godzilla is slower but much more protected and we all know how he has destroyed monsters in the past. Similarly, ser Gregors abilities with a sword based on his feats in the past seem to give him the edge as we don’t know a whole lot about Kong going in. We have no idea what to expect when Oberyn fights for the first time but he does surprisingly well.
In the end, Oberyns agility and weapon put him past the Mountains strength, armor, and brute toughness. He just got a lil cocky at the end there. This may turn out the same in the movie, and I could see it happening as well due in part to The Viper v Mountain experience. Despite my love for Oberyn, and his parallel in Kong, imma go with Zilla on this one.
This is kind of off topic but I just thought it was interesting.

What character from another TV would you like to see crossover to TWD?
If you can see a character from another tv show cross over to TWD who would it be? My buddy and I were nerding it up on his deck with some beers and we actually discussed this. Lol His pick was Jesse Pinkman from Breaking Bad. Not a bad pick. Mine was Jack Bauer from 24. I think adding Jack to the group would definitely have its challenges but nonetheless he would have been a huge help to them. Jack’s effectiveness in fighting and combat is something the others absolutely do not have. Although they are great for your average person adding Jack would almost be almost an unfair advantage for the group. When the group was on its knees in front of Negan? Jack is in a tree with a rifle. Want the Governor dead? Jack sneaks into Woodbury by himself and kills him. Carol and Jack together would be deadly. They think and fight the same. Using their heads and cunning abilities. I think some problems could come from it too. I don’t see Jack standing by when Rick makes bad decisions. Daryl is notorious for breaking the plan and doing what he wants. I see Jack breaking his arm over this if people die. I also don’t see Jack allowing him to do it more than once either. Jack would have wanted Negan dead no matter what. If he had to get into the Sanctuary and sacrifice himself to get it done he would have. He probably would have killed 15-20 of the Wolves himself. He would have beaten Shane to death by episode 3 season 2. Ed Peletier forget about it. He would have had zero mercy on Joe and the Claimers. Zero mercy for people at Terminus. I think he would have felt very much for Lydia Carl and Judith. I think Carl would have been his best friend. Carl would have taught Jack how to be apart of a family and not just an ally. Judith would just flat out make Jack smile and occasionally laugh. I think Rick would have had the same relationship with Jack he had with Morgan. I don’t think Jack and Daryl would have gotten along and Jack would have laid the smack down on him. In the end I see Jack walking away just like Morgan did and for similar reasons. Just some thoughts. Please share your ideas!!

I’m pretty certain this theory is right. It explains every detail of the series. With this in mind, Seasons 6 through 8 no longer appear sloppy or poorly made. They have aspects of fridge brilliance. Also, the “big twist” would be of an omitted character... which would explain many other things in the entire series.
However.... if you could point blank ruin the future novels and the fridge, hindsight reveal of the show... would you do it? Would you make this post?

[Spoilers] Jon vs Night King
We’re you disappointed that Jon didn’t fight the Night King because it felt like that had been building since season 5 or are you happy with the alternative that we didn’t get a typical fight but instead an extremely intense scene were the Night King smartly avoids fighting Jon which prob saved Jon’s life because he’s really no match for the night king, this isn’t the type of show were the hero fights the villains and saves the day after all but D&D must have know that’s what a lot of people wanted. Where do you stand?

Andrea sucks.
Rewatching for the 3rd time, (have yet to read comics). Andrea’s character is so unlikeable. She’s reckless, self righteous and a rebel without a cause. It’s hard for me to feel any sympathy towards her. I resent her for being such a bad friend to Michonne, too. I just got to season 3! I usually rewatch TWD to see seasons 3&4

Walking dead has had a few bumps over the years and has arguably overstayed its welcome on television, but is it still as amazing as it once was when it was in competition for best show against Breaking Bad and GOT?

[SPOILERS] (Lore Question) Banks in Westeros
Hello!
I know that The Bank of Oldtown exists as well as The Iron Bank of Braavos, and that the Rogare Bank is possibly extinct along with the Rogares themselves. Anyway, I was wondering what someone in King's Landing would do with their excessive amounts of coin? Janos Slynt, for example, had a racketeering ring, sold positions and promotions, and then was paid 6,000 Gold Dragons to betray Eddard. Where would he or say a rich merchant store their coin? Having it on hand would just be asking for it to be stolen since they do not have castles vaults. Would Janos/Merchant trust The Bank of Oldtown? What would happen if the Hightowers were at war with the Crown? They would be denied their funds. Does The Bank of Oldtown or Iron Bank have branches in King's Landing?
As as aside, I also know all the other Free Cities have their own banks that could also be contenders, as well as the Crown owing money to some Tyroshi Cartels.
Thanks for any help!

[SPOILERS] Season one
I’ve been re-watching GoT (for the fourth or so time now) over lockdown and something that keeps popping up in my watch through of season one. When Robert is on his deathbed he clears out the room of Cersei and his kingsguard and even Joffrey to have a word alone with Ned. He then tells Ned that he will be protector of the realm ext ext then writes it down. But why does he not announce it to his councillors or at least someone other than Ned? He’s been in politics for a long time he says for himself many a time how corrupt it is. Why would he not get someone to vouch for Ned rather than putting him in an impossible situation. To me it’s a weird decision

Six feet under season 1 no spoilers just finished season 1
Holy fuck I just finished season 1 of six feet under my god i think it is one of the best pieces of drama ever created. Goddd I have never even thought I would be able to relate to any of these characters but I see myself in every family member, especially David—though I am gay lol. I love how a lot of the deaths started to really effect the characters, like Rico struggling with fixing up the baby who died for SIDS or David’s struggling with sexuality coming to the fore bcs he had to fix up the gay man who was beat to death. Just a really beautiful show with characters that you really care for. I don’t understand some of it yet—the commercials in the first episode—but I will definitely be revisiting the series if they don’t fuck it up.

[SPOILERS] where did the giants go?
when were introduced to giants theyre supposedly a clan/tribe that are in mance’s army, now bearing in mind how buff they werei assumed this ment 10-12 maximum, but other than the ones we saw in the overview of the wildlings v the wall battle and the one we saw die inside aswell as the one the joined jon, but were did they go, im sure in the flyover we could make out atleast 3 in the army easily, and if there wernt actually any other there, were where they? if they were killed by the white walker attack on the wildings then surely lhey would be able to escape or atleast be the last to fall, but when jon looks back and sees all the dead bodys, there appears to be no giants, and then when the night king raised them all from the dead, there were no giants, were did they go?
EDIT: just got to 7x1 and have seen the dead giants with the walkers, only 3, although my question has kind of been answered, im still curious as to how only 1 giant managed to make it out and join jon

[SPOILERS] I genuinely can't fathom a good ending for GOT.
I watched the show after everything had aired and I knew the ending would be bad. I still loved the show overall. As I rewatched it I realized that it's practically impossible to have a good ending to this show. It seems impossible. Who should kill the night king? Who should sit on the iron throne? The obvious answer to me is Jon for both of them but that seems far too cheesy and tropey for the hero to save the planet and then rule the seven kingdoms and keep them in peace forever. I love Dany, but her on the throne seems to predictable. I thought for a second that Dany should sacrifice herself and kill the night king. Her whole arc is getting to the throne. But as it goes on her motivation is to be a good ruler and to help the kingdom instead of just power. I thought it would be cool that Dany finally breaks the wheel by killing the night king and ending the great war. Then Jon is king and Dany's final wish to him is to dissolve the monarchy. But at the end of the day, there is no buildup to this and she has nothing to do with the night king story. I have no clue what would happen with Bran's story or anyone else. I just can't see how GRRM can end the story and make it good.

[Spoilers] Davos is the ultimately Hype man
Has there been a better hype man in GOT? Aside from the last few seasons, Davos was the most honest, supporting and considerate character there was.
We see Davos with Stannis in Bravos. The Iron bank has, by this point accepted tommen’s grasp over the seven kingdoms; yet he delivers the most underrated speech of the show.
This episode is brilliant mainly due to Peter Dinklage’s tremendous deliver of his demanding a trial by combat, for which he won an Emmy. I think Liam Cunningham deserves just as much credit. It’s simply great TV.

[SPOILERS] Just finished GoT for the first time , have some thoughts.
What an awesome show! I really it, the storytelling was so good and made you wanting more! I felt towards the end everything went so wrong. The army of the dead was defeated, Cersei, you know, being who she IS, basically put her city in ruins because she was too stubborn to let someone else win. Then Jon, or should I say Eggon, didn’t take his place at the throne! He was much more righteous and better at ruling than anyone else! Dany, doing whatever it takes to claim the throne, then decided to BURN kings landing, and KILL all those innocent people! And then Dany is killed, Bran becomes king, and everyone goes their separate ways with at the ending. Idk, Maybe its because I watched the whole show too fast. I just feel like the final season didn’t settle well. Either way I love the show, I am finally happy to join the GoT community without being spoiled!

What is your favourite episode of The Walking Dead and why is it ‘Still’?
This episode is just phenomenal.
The character development between Daryl and Beth is some extremely talented writing, probably the best display in the whole series.
The fact that the whole episode is centred and carried by an unlikely relationship and bonding between a redneck nomad and a vulnerable young woman, two people who would never have associated with each other in the ‘normal world’ just shows how amazing the actors are and the direction, etc.
I think this was the point where Beth really grew on me. Up until now she had just been a glorified extra but they really allowed her to shine in this episode.
It’s a huge shame that as we were all finally starting to grow fond of Beth they decided to get rid of her a few episodes later. She had so much potential to be a strong member of the group.

Season 5 Grady Memorial stuff makes no sense??
I’m bingeing the show for the first time, just finished the ep where Beth dies, and I’m still SO confused about what the whole deal was with Grady Memorial hospital. Like, WHY were people being brought and forced to stay there? Why did the cops feel they couldn’t just leave?? Did Dawn have some weird power of mind-control over them or something? I kept thinking it was gonna turn out to be some religious cult or mind control thing, because everyone acted so oddly, like that doctor who initially seemed to befriend Beth but then secretly tricked her into killing a guy, or the cop who so chillingly tricked Sasha and ran off; and clearly the way they Beth there in the first place was essentially by kidnapping her when she was with Daryl, right? So like, these people are all freaky lying kidnappers with clandestine motives who spirit people away to their cop hospital and force them to stay there against their will. But...to what end? It seemed like it was building up to some giant conspiracy that just ended with nothing. With Dawn dead, can they all just go home now? What am I missing here???

Forgot how great glen was coming up with escape strategy ~~~ Rick teaching Andrea about the safety on her gun after she threatened him with it tells us everything about his character for the rest of the series Why is Andrea so concerned about looting? Especially after threatening a cop now she’s worried about stealing property ?? ~~~ Rick is such a softie checking the dead mans wallet to humanize and memorialize him before hacking away “if I ever find my family I’m going to them about Wayne” proceeds to never mention him again... Wow everyone had such weak stomachs at the start ~~~ Dang I remember the first time watching, realizing the rain would wash away the smell of guts and being super anxious for them to figure out they gotta run 🏃🏻 Wtf a zombie climbing a fence with so much agility ??? ~~~ I don’t get why t-dog didn’t give Dixon the key to the cuffs before they ran off or the hack saw when he dropped the key, but at least he locked the walkers out from the roof? ~~~ Huh.. zombies were even using bricks to break windows... Theory: the longer they decay the more they lose their cognitive abilities? Because I don’t recall zombies being this smart ~~~ So cute to see Glen enjoying himself in that sports car, but remembering the next part reminds me he was a stupid kid
~~~ Fin!
A thank you to the show
I have been watching this show since I was 10 now I’m 20 and essentially half my life I watched this show. There have been ups and downs but this show will forever be in my heart as the greatest show. It made me scared when I was younger and helped me get through high school and hopefully university as well. Characters came and went but the walking dead remained consistently good. Hopefully the ending will be worthy of the show and not end up like GOT.
Something I just realized about Walkers
-
Why do all the Walkers wear the same type of clothing? Surely I'm not the only one that notices this, in Season 1 the costume dept. did a great job with the clothing variety but now, the dept. seems to think shorts and t-shirts don't exist
-
Why don't we see more walkers with pants down to their shoes?
I'm not sure if it's just me wearing ill-fitting pants, but I have to pull mine up every once and awhile.
And I'm sure there were millions of people who didn't have time to get a buckle on/pick out the best fitting pants before they tried to flee the dead.
Moral of the story: I want to see more undead tighty-whities it would be funny and realistic
Season 9 ep 15: The Calm Before
Just finished the season 9 episode 15 and the pike scene, especially the focus on Enid, Tara and Henry...that was where the tears started. That was one of the most depressing episodes I’ve seen in a while. RIP Ozzy, Alek, DJ, Frankie, Tammy, Rodney, Addy, Enid, Tara and Henry.
Carol is so smart.
I just got to S7 and I am always baffled at how freaking smart Carol is. Like the way she thought to put on Aphid's clothes when the Wolves attacked, or how she can read people so instantaneously and manipulate them with ease like when she met King Ezekiel, with Paula, with the people at Alexandria, with the Saviours when she runs into them on the road. So freakin' smart. It makes me wonder which version of Carol we see is real... I love them all regardless.
[SPOILERS] What did you actually like about Season 8?
- Brienne defending Jaime to Danaerys and Sansa at Winterfell
- Scenes in episode 2 with Brienne, Tormund, Jaime, Tyrion, Davos and Podrick getting drunk by the fireplace, Brienne being knighted
- Theon pledging to fight against the dead and reuniting with Sansa
- Tyrion's farewell to Jaime (minus the "innocent or otherwise" line)
- The Hound shouting "FUCKING DIE" and then laughing during his fight with the Mountain
- The new Small Council members (not the scene itself)
Other than that, can't really think of any redeeming qualities/scenes in this season
Rewatching the walking dead s1e1 *spoilers??*
1st thought, why the hell would a zombie be interested in picking up a damn toy??? Response to Shane’s comments on women always leaving the lights on (personally I agree and have the opposite argument with my father who leaves lights on in every single room he enters and leaves, all night too if I’m checking before heading off to bed) still they are leaving out a huge female perspective here and that being it’s unsafe & scary to be home alone in many places, also having the lights on (signaling many people are in the home) can be a deterrent to would-be-criminals... just a thought! I forgot how long Rick was in a coma for, glad the writers were accurate in the muscle atrophy from being in bed for months It is odd how sweet I find it that Rick’s response to his empty home is to beg to wake up? Infamous “what’s ur wound?” Starts with Morgan as well as the walker phrase Duane’s mom rattling the doorknob, so spooky! I guess the dead hold onto a bit of consciousnesses? Muscle memory? Who knows Why do moms LOVEEEEEE their photo albums? To remember the past? Honor the dead? Keep the memories alive? Gotta love the little man’s shower boogie <3
Who do you consider to be Rick's main enemy?(Shane, The Governor or Negan)
It can be either the show and/or comics but I'm going to do the show.
Personally I would have to say the governor. He caused the most damage to the group and they would still be at the prison were it not for him. He's like a dark version of Rick, a version that turned evil and there are some similarities between them.
Imagine this team.
Michonne, Molly, Jane, Luke.
All pretty light weight and are skilled with melee weapons. And since Molly uses parkour as a means of traversing, she can easily slip into any buildings, as long as the rest distract possible zombies surrounding or in the building.
[SPOILERS] Reused footage between Seasons 1 and 3?
So, I'm watching Season 3, Episode 4, And Now His Watch Is Ended, and there's the scene where Bran climbs the tree to follow the three-eyed raven and then Catelyn appears and yells at him to promise never to climb again and then he falls out of the tree. And I swear, I would bet so much money, that in that split second shot of him falling (around 13:50), the silhouette of Bran is the exact same footage that was used in the pilot when he was pushed from the tower.
I am watching GoT for the first time, and I'm not very well-versed in the culture or lore outside of the canon of the show so please let me know if this is like a well-known piece of trivia or a commonly debunked theory. I looked online but couldn't find it mentioned anywhere, but I *cannot* believe that no one else has noticed, assuming I am correct that they're the same.
[Spoilers] Daenerys Targaryen : Lannister, Targaryen, Baratheon, Stark, Tyrell: they're all just spokes on a wheel. This one's on top, then that one's on top, and on and on it spins, crushing those on the ground.
Tyrion Lannister : House Targaryen is gone. Not a single person who shares your blood is alive to support you! The Starks are gone, as well; our two terrible fathers saw to that. The remaining members of House Lannister will never back you, not ever. Stannis Baratheon won't back you, either; his entire claim to the throne rests on the illegitimacy of yours! That leaves the Tyrells: not impossible, not enough.
Daenerys Targaryen : Lannister, Targaryen, Baratheon, Stark, Tyrell: they're all just spokes on a wheel. This one's on top, then that one's on top, and on and on it spins, crushing those on the ground.
Tyrion Lannister : It's a beautiful dream, stopping the wheel. You're not the first person who's ever dreamt it.
Daenerys Targaryen : I'm not going to stop the wheel, I'm going to break the wheel.
[NO SPOILERS] A World of Ice and Fire RP: A Collaborative A Song of Ice and Fire Roleplaying Subreddit
AWOIAFRP is a role-playing game set in George RR Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire universe. Complete with its own player written lore and storylines, AWOIAFRP allows players to create and take complete control of a Great House and its members.
Our current iteration is as follows: The Dance of the Dragons ended with the victory of Rhaenyra, and the survival of her Velaryon offspring, Jacaerys. Daeron the Daring fled Westeros alongside Tessarion after the Battle of Tumbleton, landing in Lys. While Westeros struggled to mend its old wounds, restore relations and brave the coming storms, the Targaryens of the East fought war after war in Essos, reforging the Triarchy with the power of a dragon.
Having Andalised the Free Cities considerably, they now rule as Kings, looking for the right moment to strike and reclaim their birthright, while the tensions in the Seven Kingdoms continue to increase. With the death of Maelor the Tenacious, Westeros is left in the hands of a fifteen year old King ruled by a regency council of five. Similarly, Aegon, the Prince Protector of Lys and King of the Triarchy, has perished in the war against Braavos.
Now, the two Realms bate their breaths, as the Velaryon and Targaryen heirs take their rightful seats on the thrones of their precursors. The Seahorse and the Dragon prepare for one final showdown, the War that'll decide the fate of more than a single continent.
