I was guilty of having watched the TV series without paying any attention to GRRM's books. Im currently rectifying that, and I'm in the later stages of book 1.
There is so much more to the books, more details and so much more description. However with that said, HBO did a great job televising what I've read so far.
I do have one question, do we ever find out why Ben Stark took The Black?
