Why does Alexandria look so different in later seasons?

Hello,

so I stopped watching after Season 5 ended and after keeping track on what's going on in the show and watching clips, I picked it up again once Season 10 started.

I do plan to rewatch the entire series from the beginning after 10C wraps up before 11 starts, but there's one thing that's puzzling me that I haven't found an explanation for:

Why does Alexandria look so different in Season 10 compared to previous seasons? I mean, even when All Out War was happening there were houses and all, but now it seems... smaller? Where are all the houses? What happened to make it look so vastly different?
