So I watched Joan back when it originally aired 2003-2005. I barely remember anything about it, except that I watched it because I loved Amber Tamblyn from General Hospital. I started thinking about the show again because she’s on the upcoming Y: The Last Man on FX on Hulu. I remember thinking it was a pretty high quality, unusual family centered show. It got solid ratings for a Friday night, and garnered numerous Emmy nominations for best actress and best drama.
And then all of a sudden it was cancelled after season 2. Was it a ratings dictated decision? IIRC Ghost Whisperer replaced it the following season in the time slot and lasted 5 years. Did the quality drop off? Canceling a show with buzz and success like that after year 2 seems puzzling. I don’t even remember it being on the “bubble”.
