Ms. Marvel is easily my favorite Marvel TV show so far

I say this as an Indian-American with a lot of Indian and Pakistani friends that don't really often feel represented in TV and film.

I've heard people say they don't feel inclined to watch this show for one reason or another. I understand the feeling of "Marvel exhaustion" but I think this show actually strays from the Marvel formula quite a bit. I'm really stunned with how wholesome the show is and how well they portray Desi culture. And it doesn't beat you over the head with it. Its such a sincere show and I really hope more people give it a shot.

I'm stunned that a Disney show is talking about things like The partition, British Colonialism, the impact of what white people did to India, the relationship between India and Pakistan and even showing a lot of very "normal" scenes in mosques that I don't think I've ever seen an American TV show do before. I feel like this show is doing an entire generation of kids and teenagers a favor by exposing them to our culture in a way that's so incredibly normal and not the clown-show that normally gets portrayed on TV/Film. No goofy accents, no convenience stores, no characters that are designed to be comic relief/a taxi driver/an IT guy/a doctor.

And at the risk of sounding like one of those dudes that are upset about Apu(for the record, I got nothing against Apu, Hank Azaria or The Simpsons), I really appreciate how this show makes ALL of its brown characters, just normal people. Even just Kamala's parents and brothers, feel like rolemodels I would have appreciated when I was a kid. Their family dynamic and the chemistry is all just so wholesome and well done. The mom reminds me so much of my mom and all the aunties I've known, in that brown women of her generation sacrificed so much for their kids in coming to America. Its an entire life of seemingly endless sacrifice for your children and then contending with how your kids are, well, American - and not like you and have their entire own world that doesn't really match up with your expectations. I'm rambling, but so many of the characters seem so well thought out. The brother and the sense of being the favorite son, but also having a ton of expectations hoisted on you. The dad that wants their kids to have happiness by any means and for them to not have to experience the life they had to live.

Admittedly, I may be a bit biased, but I just have to pump this show up if people are foregoing it because its not Falcon and Winter Soldier/Wandavision/Loki/Moon Knight, because the 4 episodes of Ms. Marvel I've seen thus far are better than all 4 of those shows, if only because it stands completely on its own and has a voice that doesn't feel like the Marvel formula. At 4 episodes in, I've found countless times where I just like the completely normal characters that are Kamala's friends and family, and it feels like a show that's so much more about completely normal people than it is superheroes.

Granted, there's time for all that to change and for it to become just another Marvel show(and I hope it doesn't) but for what it is right now, I'm just really captivated by what I'm seeing on screen and I love it so much.

Also, the soundtrack has some bangers:
