‘Poker Face’ is an absolute gem of a show. Would be blowing up if it was on a larger streaming service
I am absolutely loving Rian Johnson’s new show on Peacock, ‘Poker Face’. It may be a little predictable at times but it is a very entertaining show. I don’t see a whole lot of people talking about this one, but I would highly recommend it! Only four episodes have been released and they’ve all been great. Each episode is centered around a different storyline. If you’ve seen it, are you enjoying it so far?

"The Last of Us" makes me feel sad about how the "Resident Evil" adaptation was handled.
Honest to God, these people manage to get it right on the first try and us Resident Evil fans have been straight up abused over the decades. If anything, The Last of Us show has disproved any doubt that a video game adaptation needs to follow the SOURCE MATERIAL.
I'm not sure if it's ego, stubbornness, or what.. but I'm thankful that a precedent has been set.

Being a blu-ray collector has gotten really depressing as a tv fan. Most stuff just doesn't get released on blu-ray anymore.
I don't like streaming services. I like something physical that I can hold in my hands and see on my shelf. I'm old fashioned but I know I'm not the only one. It seems the newest strategy is to skip the physical release so people are forced to subscribe to the streaming service. I hate it. Just wanted to vent to see if there are any other depressed collectors out there.

Rewatching Lost
I originally watched Lost for the first time while it was still on the air. I just started rewatching it (on the first season). Wow... this was a good show. I'm shocked at how young everyone looks to me now, they were all old lol back when I first watched it. Its so strange to rewatch it with an adult mindset. Unfortunately I know whats going to happen but man I'm really enjoying this show again. The set, the characters, the mini-story all so good. Just wanted to share!

First time I started tearing up to this show
I’m on season 8 episode 9 right now and just watched the part where Carl died, and we see his vision of negan being apart of the community and it just made me tear up. Not even Carl dying but the fact that Carl envisioned negan becoming a better man and, despite everything he’s done, being apart of the community was really touching. It really showed how good Carl really was.

These days people like to praise TV Shane. But looking back, he was ultimately a coward.
I think the barn scene was the best way to encompass the difference between Rick and Shane - Rick kept trying to appease Hershel and Shane kept pushing to wipe out the barn walkers. People like Shane because they think he's the "do what needs to be done" tough guy, but he's only a tough guy when he has half a dozen Armed people backing him up.
When Sophia walked out of that barn though, Mr "do what has to be done" Shane froze solid. He hung his head and couldn't even look at her.
Rick, the one everyone thought was soft and weak in season 2? He's the one who actually stepped up and handled it.
Shane was a loudmouth brute and a coward. Rick is the one who actually does what needs to be done, every time.
Shane would have knelt to Negan and joined in if he made it that far. He'd have sold everyone out to save himself. He always took the easy path - abandon the guns and Merle. Abandon Sophia. Conquer the farm. Abandon the group.
And let's not forget Shane is also objectively a piece of shit - he almost killed Rick twice for disagreeing with him. He threatened Dale. He killed Otis. He attempted to rape Lori. He tried to murder Rick just so he could claim Rick's family as his own property.

i don’t recall him finding out in season 4 and he wasn’t present in season 5 so perhaps he found out then? if not, it’s weird he has no reaction to its since this is still pre-robot bran.

How hard are the books to read?
As someone who is dyslexic and also has troubles remembering names and keeping dense information organized in my brain, how hard of a time do you think I’d have getting through all the books?
I read quite often and my dyslexia doesn’t really hold me back too much, it just makes me kind of have to read a little slower sometimes and every few pages I’ll get stuck on certain sentences. I’ve noticed though the more complicated the writing/language is the harder it is for me to read. If I’m reading things that are already unfamiliar to me then my brain seems to struggle more i guess and I’ve never read a full book like that let alone a whole series.

TWD ending was great for what it was in my opinion aside from nitpicks… I just had one major character complaint.
Firstly. We can complain all we want about favorite characters dying or suddenly disappearing (actors leaving the show mostly to be honest). But this right now is not what I would like to focus on and as far as I believe it’s not a valid criticism because while we could judge how those characters got send offs, it’s pointless to me to criticize future episodes/seasons because of unavoidable absences that no one can control.
Secondly, there’s a lot of hate towards Maggie and Negan’s dynamic up until the end. Don’t care, I love it, I think it’s fantastic and perfect. I fully buy how they played Negan here. If you read the comics you likely would also love how his character was done and you would see that the result low key wasn’t much different than how the show did it. If anything the show made Negan even stronger and more complex. Yes, Negan did a lot of horrible shit. Yes, he was fucked up for a long time and still kind of was by the end of the show. But whether you like it or not, people can change, even the most fucked up people. And I think Negan was handled very well. I will talk respectfully further if ya’ll really want to have dialogue.
Anyway: my personal big character issue is Lydia. I loved how she was handled in most of season 10, was a huge fan of her and Negan’s reconciliation too. She became a top five favorite character for me in season 9 + 10. I’m frustrated how intensely she got sidelined in season 11 until the end. Even then I disagree with how she got used. Unlike past seasons, my biggest genuine issue with 11 is how the showrunners suddenly seemed incompetent with balancing a huge cast of characters in terms of screen time, even prior to the Commonwealth. Lydia deserved better and she got very little time to shine. And a half-rushed love interest. I don’t know. I just don’t think she deserved to be sidelined unlike a few particular other main characters.
EDIT: It also doesn’t help that Lydia’s ending in the comics also kind of makes me upset too. I never understood Robert Kirkman’s obsession with having Carl end the story without being somehow paired with Lydia. He seemed so intent on it by the end. And their chemistry is undeniable to me. I do like Lydia’s ending a bit better in the show. But still. She just deserved a lot better overall.

THAT episode. S7ep1
Well, I started binging this show around late November 2022. I didn’t watch it before because I didn’t think I would like it. I already knew about Glenn’s death a little bit because when the episode aired the internet went crazy and I remembered seeing all the tweets and outrage from everyone online. That was basically my only knowledge of the show until somewhat recently before I started watching. My boyfriend has watched the whole show and all the spinoffs and he would play reruns of Fear and the main show in the background a lot and I would ask him questions about what was going on and how everything got to where it was in that episode etc. So I ended up learning a lot more about the show and a lot of spoilers cause I told him I didn’t care about knowing spoilers since I would probably never watch it anyway. Well here we are. He kept telling me I would like it so I picked it up needing another show to binge, after the pilot I was HOOKED. I haven’t binged a show this quickly in a really long time lol. But now I finished the dreaded episode. Except I didn’t think it would be too bad, since I already knew that Glenn and Abraham died, I knew that was Negan’s introduction and I knew about Lucille and I knew that he killed them by bashing their heads in. But watching it was such a different story. I’m literally horrified by this man’s psychological torture he put them through over the course of less than 12 hours. Oh my god I still can’t even believe what I watched. And then seeing Glenn with his head partially caved in and his eye popping out of his head was beyond disturbing, choking out those last words to Maggie. I’m still in shock just wow. Wooooowwwwwwwwwww. God I had always heard Negan was the most formidable villian and everything but this guy is really taking it to the next level. Fuck me man. I just still don’t even have the right words.

'The Last of Us' got 4.7 Million views on it's debut, but only 588k of those were on HBO. 4.1 Million were on HBO Max.
That's crazy, right?
On top of that, after two days it's gotten 10 Million views. We're long past day-of views counting, right?
Nielsen Ratings just need to count views in at least a week's worth at a time per show. That's way more accurate than day-of viewership.

As I was reading the first book, I read that Sansa was the sibling that Jon was the least closest to, as her siblings thought of him as their brother, but she thought of him as a half-bro, which makes this scene stranger in hindsight. I mean, they were still siblings, but they must've rarely talked.

Is there a scene in season 1 Game of thrones where Sansa rats out her father’s plans to send her to winterfell to Cersei or does it only happen in the book?
Im currently reading the first book (GOT) and I don’t recall if they mention that Sansa told the queen of her father’s intentions to send her and Arya back to Winterfell in the series. In the book, we learn this after Ned has been imprisoned, when Cersei forces Sansa to write the infamous letter to her family. But the conversation between Sansa and the queen happened before. But I don’t remember watching the conversation or if they mention this detail in the series. Can anyone confirm?

Three-Eyed Crow (question)
Is Brynden “Bloodraven” Rivers the Three eyed crow? It appears in the asoif wikipage that “Bran discovers Brynden is still alive as the Three-Eyed Crow…” However, the fandom page says the three-eye crow is >1000 years old in age. I’m not very versed in this GOT knowledge, but is the TEC an entity that possesses and reincarnates or is the ASOIF page wrong? Or am I getting them mixed up? OR am I just over thinking everything.

The fate of house Manderly, Glover and Cerwyn after the second Long Night
I was rewatching GOT and realized that both Glover and Manderly were nowhere to be seen in the battle against the night king, and that leads me to believe that after doubting Jon going to the south, both them and Cerwyn fled back to their castles and did not come to the battle
If I am getting this right and that is the case, then I really hope that Sansa, who is more brutal than Jon, executes those lords, IK this is just going to remain in my head because after S8 fiasco I doubt there will be anything mentioned and GRRM will never finish the books, btu that is my feeling and I only wanted to share it here lol

Finished HOD, figured hey why not rewatch GOT it’s been a few years. I have to say I pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed season 7, and the first 3 episodes of season 8. However, my opinion on the remainder of season 8 was reinforced and I didn’t even finish the last episode I was so disappointed.

Who's the better leader?
Maggie or Ezekiel.
I think there's a clear answer to this.
Ezekiel is better. In all aspects. He built the Kingdom basically by himself with no help from Rick and co. He's a tremendous speaker. He would've sacrificed himself to save his people the same way Rick did. He was in his kingdom until the very end. NEVER abandoned his people to help other communities. He was loyal and respectful to everyone and never let his emotions get in the way of his decisions.

I'm Late, but "The Terror" is one of the best limited series of all time.
I know it's old news, but I was only just able to stream this, and I am blown away.
I love horor TV, but this is so much more. I don't think most people realize how utterly enthralling a show about a few dozen rough, grungy looking men with bad dental hygeine, trapped in a bleak, colorless landscape for years can be.
Three women in the cast, two you barely see, and the third incessantly covered neck to toe in bulky fur.
Almost no sex, even off screen.
Heed this, creators of entertainment-- what drives quality is not the quantity or quailty of T&A, erotic encounters, raunchiness, romance, or other of the stuff that's constantly hurled at us.
This is a show that illustrates the very essence of humanity, how as a race we're willing to struggle, how we stumble, how we destroy each other, and even how we love and protect one another. The worst and best that humans are capable of is right here.
And if you're still with me, the final reason I think this show is a masterpiece is that it taught me about a part of history and the world I barely knew about. It literally made me look at the planet in a different way (an arctic map of the world is almost like a paradigm shift if you've never seen it before).
I'm in the midst of learning the true facts about these people and their expedition. Nothing delights me more in life than finding a trove of knowledge that I never touched before. I have "The Terror" to thank for thatm nd that's why I am here-- if you haven't watched it. Watch it.

I just got to the hospital episode on my rewatch, and this woman is easily the most annoying character in this entire show despite only being in 3 episodes. I cannot think of another character that fills me with such rage every single time they’re on screen.

Why do “the questions” always make me happy?
“How many walkers have you killed?”
I’m rewatching the series now so I can finish the show now that it’s finally on Netflix. I watched from Alexandria-on about 6 months ago, and I just started from scratch and am nearing Terminus now, and I’ve started hearing the questions a few times.
“How many people have you killed?”
There’s something about every time they’re brought up that just makes me happy, idk if it’s because it’s just a light in-universe consistency that carries over multiple years or what, but every single time they come back up I just get all satisfied. Nearly get the chills sometimes. Does anybody else feel that way?
“Why?”

So glad i decided to watch this series man, just started season 8 and couldnt be more excited to finish the rest. People really say it fell off after season 5 or 6 and i absolutely do not agree with that statement, season 7 was an amazing season imo and i feel like 8 will be an even better season. The build up to the war is amazing.

Spoilers: Do y'all think Drogon will be as big or bigger than Vhagar, Vermithor, or Balerion?
I don't know if this has been discussed already but, me and my buddies got on this topic yesterday and now I'm just curious what y'all think. I think he may get as big as Vhagar, his wing size is approx. 60m (according to articles) while Vhagar is about 150m, Vhagar is nearly 2 hundred years old is HoTD while Drogon is about 7 - 8 years old I'm pretty sure. One of them said no and the other 2 said he may get as big as Vermithor. I know in the books he doesn't get that big and the show just made him really big bc they ran out of source material to use. I'm strictly speaking show. So what're y'alls thoughts and are me and my buddies idiots?

Which TV series felt the most impacted by budget cuts between seasons?
I've started to notice that I can tell which returning Netflix shows are on the chopping block when their 2nd or 3rd season roles around and everything just feels "cheaper." I couldn't finish the 2nd season of Altered Carbon because it just felt so much cheaper than what I was seeing in the first. Which show of yours do you think suffered the worst?

GoT S7E4 Loot Train Scene: inspired by the 1991 Gulf War 'Highway of Death'?
When I first saw the 'Loot Train attack' scene from Season 7 (Episode 4) of Game of Thrones, I instantly thought it must have been inspired by the 'Highway of Death', an incident from the First Gulf War in 1991.
Highway of Death, aftermath (1991)
The incident occurred when coalition aircraft strafed and bombed the Iraqi army, who were retreating up Highway 80 back to Iraq from Kuwait, which they had invaded the previous year.
Watching the dragon strafe a hapless wagon train, carrying loot back from a conquest, I couldn't help but see the similarities. I assumed it was intentional, and probably public knowledge that the incident partly inspired this scene.
Having recently used googled to discover if the scene was, in fact, inspired by that real world event, I was surprised to discover that no member of the production team seems to have ever publicly referenced it, and no viewer seems to have pointed it out.
The photos of charred bodies at the Highway of Death are gruesome (see the famous one on reddit), and eerily similar to the ash corpses we see in this scene.
Ash Corpse prop in Game of Thrones
I cannot be sure the Highway of Death was an inspiration for elements of this scene. All I can say is that it instantly brought it to my mind.
I leave it to you to decide.

What’s a highly rated show you have never seen or could never get into for whatever reason?
Hey.
The Big Bang Theory.
For some reason, I just didn’t like it. I tried, tried and tried for a couple seasons but I just didn’t like it’s style of humor and it felt like it had kind of an artificial vibe to me. It was never a case of vehemently disliking the show or anything like that, I just didn’t enjoy it and it didn’t feel like my kind of show.
It was a similar case with Two and a Half Men although I watched a little more of that show before the humor started becoming tiring and the formula very stale and base and lacking sophistication and nuance. I’m not even trying to bash it or anything, I was never fully comfortable with the style of humor but it had its moments early on and the performances were good for the first 3-4 seasons or so that I watched.
There are so many shows out in the world today on network, traditional cable and streaming that there is always likely to be some shows people simply don’t have time to watch, but I’m mainly talking popular shows that a lot of people have seen.
What are shows that for whatever reason you haven’t seen or couldn’t get into and stopped watching?

CMV: Every decision Tyrion made between Joffrey's wedding and the final episode was an utter fail
During and after my first watch through years ago, I always felt Tyrion was the best character and was always so clever and usually right whenever he spoke or made decisions. On my second watch through this month, I now believe every decision he made starting with murdering Tywin all the way up through the sacking of King's Landing was an egregious mistake. Some examples:
1) Killing Tywin out of rage, thus alienating his siblings and creating a power vacuum within the Lannister house and the entire monarchy that ultimately leads to the deaths of his neice and nephew, along with the dissolution of two great houses.
2) Allying with Danearys... self explanatory.
3) Cutting a deal with the slavers and wise masters, thus leading to the seige on Mereen and the deaths of innocents and the burning of their fleet and major loss in his credibility in the eyes of Danearys (which comes into play later on)
4) His plan to take Casterly Rock and thus being easily out maneuvered by his brother and leads to the destruction of House Tyrell and the ability for Cersei to pay the crown's debts to the Iron Bank, thus opening the door for the contracting of the Golden Company. This is a major blunder, as with the backing of the Golden Company, Cersei is now more evenly matched with Dany's army, thus giving her the illusion she can win the war which necessitates the capturing of Missendei and forces Dany to have to use Drogon to sack King's Landing, and we all know how that plays out.
5) Tyrion's misplaced belief in Cersei to "do the right thing" and surrender to Dany without bloodshed because she is pregnant. This gets Missendei beheaded and sparks the events in "The Bells".
6) Misplaces his faith in Danearys herself, thus "choosing" her over his friend Varys, thus getting him executed, even though he was right all along.
Methinks Tyrion is actually the major villain of the entire series, the wolf in sheep's clothing. And not because he is malicious, but ironically because he wasn't clever when he needed to be. His ignorance cost the realm thousands of innocent lives.
