Why don’t they just call them zombies?

I can’t be the only one that’s wondered throughout this show… why don’t they just call the dead exactly what they are? Zombies!

It makes me wonder if the concept of zombies just never existed for them before this out break. Not in video games or comics. Not at all.

In our world, if we’d ever have a zombie outbreak, we’d immediately call them zombies after realising it’s the dead reanimating and eating humans.

Idk, it’s just something that makes me wonder. What do you guys think? Is there any reason why?

Just finished season 4 of GoT, here are my thoughts so far

Welcome back to part 4 of my series (part 3 is here) that will document my journey through my first watch of GoT. I just finished season 4, so let's go through my likes and dislikes.

Wow! What a season! I now understand why people always told me to "just wait for season 4" whenever I would mention my pleasure with the series. Every episode of this season was incredible, and I've heard that I can expect the same for the next two seasons as well, so that's pretty freakin exciting.

Favorite characters:
1. Arya - This girl was vicious, hilarious, and overall just super fun to watch this season. Her and the Hound might just be my favorite duo this show has to offer, with Tyrion and Shae (RIP) being a close second. What's so great about Arya is that she is not the main focus of the story, yet she continues to be someone that I continually desire updates on. The fact that she's not a part of the Jon, Daenerys, or Lannister storylines, but she still warrants my undivided attention is awesome. I'm also hyped that we get more Arya and Jaqen next season so that's hype.
2. Tyrion - I said in my last breakdown that Tyrion's best quality is his ability to take the attention away from anyone else he shares the screen with, and that was even more prevalent this season. And don't even get me started with his speech while on trial, it was absolutely mesmerizing. I'm still partial to the one at the Blackwater, but this speech was still astounding. I love that he's finally starting to take matters into his own hand too. I hate that he felt like he had to do it, but the fact that he actually mustered up the courage to kill Shae and Tywin was nice to see. Talk about character development!
3. Bran - Idk why but I feel like I might be one of the few Bran fans out there, just a feeling I get. This kid is so damn wise for his age and I love it. The fact that he was smart enough to realize (with the help of Jojen) that reuniting with Jon would keep him from reaching the tree was great to see. Bran continues to be the character that intrigues me the most in this series, and if him flying is not a metaphor (which I guess it probably is) then that sounds dope af.

Least favorite character:
1. Cersei - If I'm being real, there's no need to even number this section. Cersei is my one and only least favorite character of this season. Other characters did wrong, I'm not denying that. Hell, Jaime deciding that it was a good idea to rape his sister directly next to his incest born son's carcass was as far from a good, honorable decision as good, honorable decisions go, but at least he freed Tyrion during the finale, so he gets a few points for that. Cersei, however, continues to breathe evil just like Dany's dragons breathe fire. She wanted her little brother dead despite knowing he was not the one responsible for her demon son's death, and I'm not cool with that.

Biggest surprises so far:
1. The aforementioned Jaime and Cersei scene 😬
2. I really didn't think that Oberyn was gonna suffer from Ned Stark Syndrome by being compelling as hell and then die a few episodes later, yet here we are. Also, I can't not point out how GRUESOME his skull getting pulverized like an orange was. Shit caught me off guard.
3. All of the stuff at Castle Black was pretty freakin surprising. Since I knew that Kit Harrington and Rose Leslie are married irl I woulda thought they would have had more time together, but oh how wrong I was. Also, I'm shocked and thankful that I finally have a reason to give a rat's ass about Stannis, so that's a nice change of pace.

Predictions:
1. First thing I wanna say in this section is that I don't think the Hound is dead. Dude is too tough to not have an on-screen death. Plus, if the Mountain is gonna somehow survive his situation, then the Hound needs to survive his as well. I think that the Hound and the Mountain are gonna end up killing each other as that seems to be the only way to end their feud, so the Hound can't die before that happens lol.
2. So I was doing some thinking, and I came to the realization that every bastard of note that I've met thus far has one or more significantly influential parents. Joffrey's parents were the Queen and the Kingslayer, Gendry's father was the freaking King, Ramsey's father is the Warden of the North, and then we have Jon Snow. Now, gimme a second to explain myself, please put the pitchforks down. Ned was a badass, and he was the King's Hand, I can't deny that, but the only reason he got that position is because he was the King's friend, not because of his bloodline. So, that means that Ned is not Jon's parent of note. Idk who his mother is yet, nor do I know if I ever will find out, but if I do find out then I wouldn't be surprised if she was a Tyrell, Baratheon, or hell even a Targaryen (even though if the latter is the case, I'd assume Jon's hair would be silver, not dark).

Other:
1. As much as I love Arya, I don't love how she left things with the Hound. Based on their previous interactions, I think it would have made more sense for her to have cauterized his wounds, rather than steal his money and leave him be. It would have been a great bonding moment for the two: the Hound trusting Arya with fire (his greatest fear) and Arya tending to someone she once wanted to kill, overcoming the hatred inside her heart that she had given in to all season. Idk if this is a hot take, but I think that would have been a nice touch for my favorite duo.
2. Now I have no clue what's gonna happen with Tommen. Since Tywin was basically the behind-the-scenes King, it didn't leave much for Tommen, so I'm very intrigued to see how he proceeds (or if he even gets the chance to) without his grandfather's wisdom.

Edit: I just wanted to add that I honestly believe every one of the first 40 episodes of this show were good, most of them great. The consistency of seasons 1-4 was remarkable, and I hope season 5 continues this trend.

The animation reminds me of Invincible, same with the performances. There are some interesting questions in here about AI slavery and uploaded intelligences.

Wouldn't want to give away more but if you like animation that is mature and well-written it's worth a watch.

"Shrinking" is making me realize Hollywood fucked up by not putting Harrison Ford in more comedy roles. His dead pan comedic timing is impeccable and hilarious.

The most recent ep that just dropped features a stoned Ford at a party being fucking hilarious! Something about the way he just deadpans sarcastic lines is just too funny

He isn't meant for baudy or loud or over the top comedy. He just has a way of looking at someone totally seriously and then smacking them with a dry one liner that just cracks me up hard. Jason is theoretically the star of this show, but I watch for Ford and Jessica Williams.

Favorite scene in the whole series

I haven’t actually watched it all yet but when my girlfriend suggested we watch it, I did my research. I will be mindful if others have not watched, hence the spoiler warning. :)

Daenerys taking Unsullied has to be the best for me! Her interactions with the slave master were pretty brilliantly written. I think my favorite moment of the scene was when the slave master says, “The bitch has her army.” Daenerys gives him a glare before turning and demanding that all slaves be freed and no children harmed.

Jorah’s reaction was also well-written. He doesn’t fully understand what is being exchanged but reads the room well. When Daenerys starts speaking Valyrian he senses something is about to go down.

The scene where she’s marching into the desert with her new army literally gives me chills.

Emilia Clarke is fantastic and I question who else could have pulled this scene off so easily.

The Larry Sanders Show is still such a great, great show

I watched it for the first time when HBO GO originally came out years ago, and now I make it a point to rewatch it once a year. Just incredible writing and it was a show that was ahead of it’s time in just about every category you can think of. Not to mention, tremendous performances from Garry Shandling, Jeffrey Tambor and especially Rip Torn. So many great running jokes and recurring characters. It’s the first show I can think of that had celebs playing meta/alternate versions of themselves (David Duchovny was especially great in his guest spots).

If you’ve never seen it, definitely give it a shot!

I’d like to talk about a filming location that potentially spoils the ending of the series [MAJOR SPOILERS, FEARTWD]

I can confirm that the cast & crew have shot some scenes EXTREMELY close at the Commonwealth studio in February.

So I have found out through multiple sources out that they have shot some scenes in Fayetteville, Georgia.

Studio trailers from the company Metro Studio Services were on set. They are located in Fayetteville.

Fayetteville is a 30 minute drive from Atlanta. It’s just under Atlanta and above Senoia. Senoia is basically where they filmed The Walking Dead like Woodbury, Alexandria.

I know that the cast & crew has been filming basically the entire season in Savannah, Georgia. They’ve been on a lot islands in Savannah, they have shot a lot of scenes on water and in the swamp area in Savannah. It’s basically all really close to each other. They’ve also been scouting these locations (Ian Goldberg and Andrew Chambliss and directors) a few weeks before they would actually shoot there.

It’s actually a 3 hour and 30 minute drive from Savannah to Fayetteville and it is a 20 MINUTE drive from Fayetteville to the Commonwealth studio set.

I have NOT been able to find ANY hint that they have ACTUALLY shot at the Commonwealth studio. But I CANNOT find any other reason why they WOULD HAVE NOT filmed a scene at the Commonwealth because they’ve literally shot a scene just 20 minutes away from it.

They’ve been filming for the entire season in the nearby area of Savannah, and they suddenly decided to have a 3 hour and 30 minute drive to Fayetteville? It’s odd. Really odd.

So what are your thought? Does this confirm they’ll end at the Commonwealth?

The Walking Dead Season 1 was fantastic

Lately, I keep seeing a lot of trashing on The Walking Dead in favor of The Last of Us. I personally don't agree, at least in relation to season 1 of TWD, which IMO is still my favorite out of the two.

The Walking Dead Season 1 was absolutely fantastic. The acting (and casting), writing, dialogue was all superb. Another thing I feel they captured well, if we're comparing to TLOU, is the actual horror/fear in its setting.

The Walking Dead (comics, games, show) has always been about the characters first, no different to The Last of Us. But I feel the show captured that horror and fear surrounding the characters better than TLOU has so far.

I don't know if we're all just mad at the later seasons of TWD, or if its just recency bias of TLOU. But come on; that first season of TWD was incredible.

Paramount+ is the worst streaming UI in existence

I gotta rant about this. I didn't think it could possibly get worse. .. Always had a buggy UI that would freeze and dialogue would even get out of sync occasionally. I dealt with it like a really bad ninja movie dub,But now...now you can't even rewind. Try and rewind, and it goes to the beginning of whatever chapter you're in and starts the commercials from the beginning.... Pause for too long and it's the same.

There is no way this isn't by design! A show I really enjoy and was excited to watch each episode is now absolutely ruined by this garbage. I can't monetarily support shit like this, and am cancelling tomorrow.

The ending

I just finished the show and my goodness do I hate the ending. I hate it I hate it I hate it I hate it I hate it I hate it I hate it I hate it I hate it I hate it I hate it I hate it. Not even from a perspective of them character assassinating Daenerys, but- well actually yess exactly that. You can’t make me think that she would have burned all those women and children alive after that. What I think would have fit her character would be to have her be on drogon when the bells rang like she was, then in a fit of rage over everyone she’s lost have her fly to the red keep and burn everyone in it. That entire episode was her practically going against everything she stands for. Not only that, but everything the show runners made her stand for which is why I do think it was a character assassination. I would have loved for them to kill her off (if they would have either way) in a different way. I would be less salty.

Whenever people talk about TV’s best dads I really feel Sandy Cohen from the OC needs to be in the conversation.

Now forgive me O.C. Fans because I’m somewhat late to the game of Sandy appreciation. I have recently been doing a run of this show for the first time on Hulu and I after watching feel that Sandy should be in the conversation for one of the best tv dads ever. At every plot turn the show has to offer Sandy takes the right turn and does what’s best for the people around him. Yeah the writers flirt with him cheating a bit but he’s so convincing in his cheating refusals that he just reinforces any doubt about his marital commitments. I’m not saying he’s the best but it would be nice if he was in the conversation for one of the best pound for pound

I’m having a Mandela effect with season 2 episode 12

I’m rewatching after a few years, and one scene I was looking forward to.. doesn’t exist. The scene where Rick and Shane are in the field. I remember Rick shooting Shane, and when he came back it was this whole dramatic thing. He got up and walked across the field toward Rick, and Rick stood there confused as to how he became a zombie. It was supposed to be a big reveal. But in actuality, Rick stabs Shane, and then he comes up behind Rick as a zombie and Carl shoots Shane and he’s down and it’s all done so fast and anti climatic.

Does anyone else remember this scene differently in any way?

Ok so I just rewatched game of thrones for the first time since it ended and I have to be honest, seasons 7 and 8 really were not that bad, especially watching all the way through.

Quality definitely went downhill from what we were used to in the series but I don’t feel like it fell off of a cliff. Like I would say it was at its worst a high quality television show at the end. Not the iconic phenomenon it was but still good television, like it wasn’t so horrendous. I feel like a lot of people just expected it to be as good as earlier seasons but it was never going to be that good without the books. The last two seasons for me although again not the same iconic feel as the earlier seasons, was still generally very good television. Also upon rewatch season 6 is an absolute masterpiece, and potentially the best season even though it was not the best WRITTEN season.

Sex in the apocalypse

I just started watching this show so im sure this might have been discussed before but would you have sex in the event of an apocalypse? I read and watch a lot of media with dystopias/apocalypse themes and every time people have sex and have kids Im like ew. With no constant access to clean/hot water and then being on edge would kill my libido. But I guess humans are gonna f*ck 😂😂

Game idea

There is a game just like dayz (mechanics) but with gta physics rag doll engine all of that. Then make it in TWD universe. Guns, cars, poi’s, maybe even two maps DC area and Atlanta area or have both in one map just huge. You can be your own character or be an existing one like dayrl, Rick, ect. There could be different modes like gta free mode, building your camp takeover an existing one but it would be decently hard. Scenarios like all out war. Farm being destroyed try to beat the horde. Try to beat the governor at the prison. I’m getting to far deep but that general area. Anyone a developer or has a friend who’s a developer? I’d love to help if this can become a reality!

Why does everyone seem to like Stannis?

I just made it past the episode where Stannis and Melisandre beget the shadow demon thing and he kills Renly. Apparently this man is supposed to be a well liked character but I don’t see how summoning a demon can make you well liked. Am I too early in the show or am I missing something?

Is anybody else bothered by Daryl’s Development?

In the first couple seasons Daryl is very outspoken and funny, I understand he matures during the show and becomes a much better person Relative to other characters at least, they basically turn him into a mute that grunts at people and occasionally stares at stuff for a long time. Don’t get me wrong I understand he is seriously affected by things like Beth and Glenn dying and he’s still a bad ass but this Has always bothered me. There’s a point where it feels like his non-action scenes can be fast forwarded and you won’t miss a thing. Did anyone else notice this or am I crazy?

Just finished the last episode. What the hell?!

I started watching Game of Thrones after persuaded by a couple of friends. I didn’t think I would like the series but instantly became hooked when I began to understand it. About 30 minutes ago I just finished the very last episode and what the?!?! I feel like so much was not finished, it felt rushed. things have been really tough recently for me & for some reason a show about the apocalypse & zombies helps.
