The following is just a theory that has coincidental/interesting parallels. So i was thinking last night about the Azor Ahai prophecy and the burning sword this savior wields. For those not totally caught up, Azor Ahai wields a burning sword called Lightbringer.
The story of light bringer goes something like this:
"He labored for thirty days and thirty nights until it was done. However, when he went to temper it in water, the sword broke. He was not one to give up easily, so he started over. The second time he took fifty days and fifty nights to make the sword, even better than the first. To temper it this time, he captured a lion and drove the sword into its heart, but once more the steel shattered. The third time, with a heavy heart, for he knew before hand what he must do to finish the blade, he worked for a hundred days and nights until it was finished. This time, he called for his wife, Nissa Nissa, and asked her to bare her breast. He drove his sword into her breast, her soul combining with the steel of the sword, creating Lightbringer, while her cry of anguish and ecstasy left a crack across the face of the moon."
Melisandre had eluded to Stannis being Azor Ahai (using Prince that was Promised interchangeably in show), and had him pull his sword from a fire to make it burn...kinda weak. Now that Stannis is gone, Mel believes Jon Snow is the prophesied leader. So this had me thinking...
If it took Azor Ahai 3 times to temper his sword into Lightbringer, maybe Mel will play the role of Nissa Nissa. Jon has publicly held 2 executions he carried out himself. The first was the beheading of Janos Slynt. We can consider this the first tempering. The second execution, or tempering, was on the Nights Watch brothers who murdered Jon. Now here is where my theory gets good. The last time we saw Mel, Davos confronted her in front of Jon about the murder/burning of Shireen. When she confesses, Jon tells her, "Ride south today. If you ever return to the North, ill have you hanged as a murderer." We know the Starks/Jon are true to their word, and the man who passes the sentence should swing the sword. I believe Mel will meet up w/ The Bortherhood (and maybe Arya) and return to the North/wherever Jon is. When they do, Melisandre will know that Jon will stay true to his word. Although Jon promised a hanging, Mel will insist that Jon plunge his sword into her chest (like the Nissa-Nissa prophecy). During this third public execution (3rd tempering of Lightbringer), Jon will plunge his sword into Mels chest, combining with her soul and the powers of R'hollor, creating Lightbringer. I think Mel will realize her vital and final role will be of that to help create Lightbringer, which Jon will wield into the Dark Night to defeat The Great Other as R'hollors champion.
TL/DR- After Jon's third public execution (1st on Janos Slynt and 2nd on NW Brothers who murdered him), Melisandre will insist that Jon plunge his sword into her chest, which will create Lightbringer.
