Not as an intentional part of the plot, just through the progression of years of writers developing flaws for story purposes to the point that they lose their good aspects. For example, a lot of fans found Rory on Gilmore Girls to be pretty despicable and entitled towards the end of the show, and especially in the Netflix season.
