[SPOILER] S4Ep12 End of Times car explanation.

Everyone who’s seen the show knows the part where [SPOILERS AHEAD FINAL WARNING] Gus neglects to go to his car.

I found it odd and googled and explanation. I found two theories. One involving a reflection off of Walt’s glasses. Which I personally find hard to believe given the distance and the fact that if that were the case I believe there would have been a “I see you” type of scene to let us know.

The next theory, and the one I want to talk about is the theory that Gus was, like Walt says, ten steps ahead and saw this as a chance that he himself would take to kill someone. And seeing this weighed the odds and simply walked away.

Now this theory is just a theory. And I feel like it’s generally accepted. But it bugged me that there was no way of knowing for sure. And it didn’t seem google had anything further to add to it.

As I kept watching into the next episode “face off” I started to piece together more to this theory that I feel solidifies it even more that it was Gus’s “sixth sense” (which is what walt referred to it as when he brings the bomb into the hospital at the start of face off).

As we watch face off. We watch Walt drive up to his house to get money for sauls secretary. Upon driving up to the house he too has a “sixth sense” moment. This whole epsoide is like a chess match. Hence why they refer to the term 10 steps ahead. (He may even use the word moves instead of steps. Which would add even more to it) Walt’s “sixth sense” moment where he calls the neighbor and it flushed out the hitmen is the part where Walt takes control of the board and starts to plan his moves ahead of Gus’s. Ultimately leading this the checkmate that Walter has in the form of hector.

The part where Walt also halts and see the chance for himself to be taken out is a direct reflection of what Gus does in the previous episode. The connection to why it is Simply Gus’s “sixth sense” is why he just walks away from his car and it is made when Walt says “I won” and drives out of the hospital and looks at the pollos keychain hanging from Gus’s car which is still parked there.

Checkmate.
