I think it's fair to say that most of us are pretty let down with how AMC/Gimple have handled the All Out War source material. But if you were in the Show-runner seat, how would you have executed this story arc differently?
Personally, I would have made the following changes:
- a 10-episode arc
- tighter direction, particularly with the action sequences
- more creative, strategic use of walkers
- if you have to kill a certain character, at least earn it
I think I would also cut back and forth between Rick's group and Negan's group each episode. For example, focus on Rick's group in episode 1, Negan's in episode 2, Rick 3, Negan 4, etc.
So if a character from Rick's group was killed during a Negan-centric episode, make no airs and graces about it until Rick's episode. Because Negan's group wouldn't focus on it in the moment either. This would show both sides of the war realistically, and would be a cool way to shake up the formula.
I'd love to hear what you would do differently.
