I hated Season 1 but I still gave Season 2 a try because it was left on a cliffhanger but I am disbelief over how incompetent this show is.
Every character is poorly written and so you hate everyone. No one feels like a human teenager with complex thoughts and emotions they're are just all assholes. Also the whole theme of rape, suicide, mental illness and school shootings shouldn't be covered by a writers team who don't know how to gracefully represent those themes in a TV show. The whole thing just pissed me off especially
(THIS WHOLE PARAGRAPH IS SPOILERS) The Tyler bullying and rape scene. It was unnecessary, it was extremely graphic and the fact that the show is trying to say that bullying is a justified reason to go in to a school with an AR to kill people so that the audience can feel some sort of sympathy for him and then he can be called a complex character.
Both seasons are a mess and this shouldn't be celebrated as stopping suicide because from what I've personally seen, young teenagers have either become weirdly obsessed and curious about suicide or they find it extremely graphic and triggering which is something you don't want to do to your audience who you are supposed to help. If you want a good example of a good film that handled issues like this then I recommend Scum which is set in a teenage prison/ juvie in 70s England and that has themes of racism, bullying, assault, rape and suicide. I'm done ranting.
