The main gripe I had with the season (which most fans of FTWD seem to have) was not necessarily the story itself, but that they abandoned previous characters like Daniel and Walker and completely rebooted Madison’s personality.
I think the story of the ballpark and the Vumtures was pretty cool, but the way it played out obviously did not work with our already established characters. It would have been a really cool pilot season for a whole new cast of characters who Morgan is meeting in their “future” as he finds out about their past and how their lives have been destroyed by the people they’re seeking revenge on. If this same story went down without fucking over our favorite characters, I am thinking it would have been received a lot differently.
